Is it possible to lock or disable the bootloader so that if the phone gets stolen, it cant be booted to recovery?
No, restricting access to the bootloader is not possible.
Any particular reason you ask this?

that is "the particular reason". i wouldnt want my phone to be used if someone steals it. via bootloader you can install a rom and start using the phone as your own.

If you don't want anyone using your phone, log the IMEI and use that to report it stolen.
If you live in a half decent country, that will be enough to block your phone.

Couldn't find a lot on the specifics of decrypting the phone, if I do it can I still use a fingerprint to lock the phone? Or does it disable this? Also, is it possible to re-encrypt the device and is this process easy? Thankyou

Thankyou for the response, I don't suppose you could offer some advice on the re-encryption process?
Just go to Settings -> Security -> Encrypt Phone

Yes, you can still use the fingerprint lock with a decrypted phone. I have been since I got my 5x.
Or does it disable this?

No decrypting does not disable the use of the finger print.
Also, is it possible to re-encrypt the device and is this process easy?

Yes, as posted above, just press encrypt from the settings menu.

Because I need to send it in to get it fixed but they won't do it if it's Rooted they said
What does a broken screen have to do with the software? Are you paying for the screen replacement?

Who's "they"? As far as I know, as long as you're on OxygenOS and you've the stock kernel, you're Just fine. The root is irrilevant.

Yes.
They said it voids the warranty if I'm running a custom recovery/unlocked bootloader

Are you sure? Oneplus is famous for the modding-proof warranty
Hi all,
Just got a OP3 and was thinking about unlocking the bootloader. Having read OnePlus' policy on warranty and root, there should be no problem.
However, I have read about the "Tampered flag" that is set when unlocking the bootloader and which doesn't get reset even after relocking it. Could this affect my ability to run Android Pay or any other similarly secure software? I've read that Knox will start doing that, so better to be safe than sorry
Thanks!
You can use Android Pay with an unlocked bootloader fine even when you've re-locked it. it'd just root that will stop Android Pay from working.

If you were not on full stock rom without root, or anything custom, and you turned off OEM unlocking and USB debugging, then locked the bootloader, you are basically hosed my friend
Look at this point it just needs to be said... PEOPLE STOP RE-LOCKING THE DARN BOOTLOADER!!
PERIOD!!
There are literally a half dozen posts this week with probably bricked phones and a good amount of them are this same root cause.

Your preaching to the choir ol friend! While I agree with you 100%, some things are best learned the hard, and expensive way! I've done it twice myself.
The carpenters rule should apply to these phones as well...."measure twice, cut once" :good:
I remember and I'm sure that i left USB debugging enabled, and the bootloader locked, so is there any hope ?

My friend.....you could give me or anybody else 10 thousand bucks, and it's still not going to solve your problem I'm sorry to say. You should have unrooted the phone first, then fastbooted the factory image, or do a factory reset, and made sure that OEM unlocking & USB debugging were left on until you were done locking the bootloader. Sorry man, but there's not much you can do without at least a stock recovery, so....accept the loss, learn from your mistake, and move on. Many of us here, including myself, have been there as well. What you choose to learn from it is up to you

No problem my friend. As they say "s#*t happens"
And your quote isn't from Tupac, it's from the philosopher Frederick Nietzsche in 1888.
