Hello. I have installed Lineage OS 14.1 (Latest nightly) on my Samsung Galaxy S5 and i wondered why the Apps download so slow. Then i did a speedtest and it showed me i only have 2 Mbit/s. Normally i have 110 Mbit/s!
How can i fix this or do i have to use an older Build of Lineage OS until this is fixed?
Same Problem here!
I too have the same issue, and I can verify that it is happening on the current build of lineage 7.1.2. I have a Huawei GR5 KII-L05. I have a friend with the exact same phone, except hers is not rooted and is still running the latest official operating system of Android 6. Her phone when connected to my WiFi gets about 10mb/s, mine connected to same access point gets about 1 to 1.5 mb/s. I originally thought it was an issue with the number of WiFi access points I see here, but her phone shows it is the phone when running 7.1.2. Mobile data speeds are the same on both phones, its just WiFi that crawls for me.

I have the m919 flashed with the latest ROM
Feb 7 build date. My issue is that the WiFi hotspot will work but after 15 to half hour my cell signal will drop says nothing available. Restart phone I have LTE no prob. But no hotspot the name does not show up on any device. I then either have to pull battery wipe cache or delilk. To make it work. Or just some times just let it be for a few hours. Any ideas on how to fix? Thank you

The title does specify the "GT-I9505" but, the Lineage Team had unified the developments a little while ago. If you would like to take a look, the following device information link is from the Official LineageOS website for the jfltexx. You will find, at the bottom of the page, the list of "Supported models" that includes your device.

Alright, I have a Samsung Galaxy Express (I8730) and thought I should get it a boost by upgrading from Android 4.1 to LineageOS 14.1 with Android 7.1.
WiFi works fine, so does making calls and sending/receiving SMS and everything else, but NO and absolutely NO data. That is quite a severe limitation as I cannot access the Internet in any other way than over WiFi. It's very frustrating because I belive that LineageOS 14.1 / Android 7.1 is very good. So...
I have tried wiping the cache and dalvik cache.
I have tried installing new basebands, several of them, or in fact all of them that are available. The one I'm using now is I8730XWANE1.
I have tried LTE as well as 3G and I have tried different bearers, e.g. HSPA etc.
I have tried restoring the defaults for the selected mobile network.
I have tried searching for mobile networks and choosing the one that I'm subscribed too.
No... Nothing has fixed the problem.
With LineageOS 14.1 I have never ever seen an icon above the strength indicator as I used to on Android 4.1, not even for a short while. It has never worked.
I'm in Sweden.
Anyone?
Best,
Mike

Dear reader,
since a couple of days my device (samsung S7: SM-G930F) is running low on battery really quick. So I thought; it has been a while since my device asked me to update the new Lineage version. So I gave the app the instruction to look for updates, and it gave me the following notification.
Can't connect to download site. Please retry later.
When actually
You device is supported by the lineageOS team, but there are no versions that support this type of publication: Nightly. (this is translated from Dutch, so actual English sentece might be different).
Switching to Snapshot instead of Nightly in the Settings didn't help.
Then when searching again for updates it gave me the message:
No source file
Request for file: lineage-14.1-20181124-nightly-herolte-signed.zip To reconstruct the last update, the zip of the app should actually be installed. Do you want to select this file manually from storage, or download the last full zip-version?
When I press: download full zip-file it gives the following:
Error during implementation. Try to refresh.
When I click on select file (from storage), and select lineage-14.1-20180927-nightly-herolte-signed.zip, it gives me the message:
You should select the right source file. But I don't have that one on my storage; it's froma different date.
Can anyone help me please?
Kind regards,
Chris

S7 is no longer officially supported by lineageOS. You can search here in XDA for unofficial ROMs.
I have no big hope that a new ROM will really solve your battery issue. Most of the the success stories are a result of a clean ROM installation.

In addition to the outstanding information that @kurtn had provided...
There's no Official LineageOS Updater Apps on the Play Store.
The reason is that they have an implemented LineageOS Updater built into the Firmware and has no need to provide any such app separately from the firmware. That would just be counterproductive to the built in Updater.
The LineageOS Updater App(s) on the Play Store is via a 3rd party developer. I'm not stating that any/all of them are either good or bad but, individuals need to know that their Unofficial and is in no way supported by the Official Lineage Team Maintainers.
Just a few (so to speak) words of advice to keep in mind. I remember asking about them (quite a while ago) and those were the types of words/thoughts by @invisiblek and @haggertk (whose a part the Official Lineage Lead Maintainers).
No lectures here... Just some friendly information for you My Friend!

Hi Kurt and Ibuprophen, thanks for your answers!
Now I have finally holiday and time to actually fix things it's time to continue this
So current situation;
Phone running out of battery within half a day without frequent using, apps crashing > update definitely required.
Phone model: Samsung S7 SM-930F
LineageOS version: 14.1-20181124-NIGHTLY-herolte (so last update is over a year old)
Android version 7.1.2
Options:
1. Just reset to factory settings? Most easy option, but I think it will have negative influence when I use the phone for another year?
2. I found this unoficcial ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/beta-lineageos-16-0-s7-herolte-t3842465, however, it doesn't include instructions and it is very technical and it speaks of Android 9 as base, which I don't have; just 7.1.2. Would that be a problem?
3. Update to 15.1 instead if that is easier?
So what would be your advice? Please bear in mind that I am a technical noob and can only follow instructions that are extremely clear & correct
Until now I haven't found instructions I felt comfortable with unfortunately.
By the way my laptop has Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2

Oh, looks like ivan does a good job. I think it is a good idea to install his rom.
But be aware: whatever it is, that eats your battery, it can come back.
Edit: be aware: from the threads it looks like 15.1 and 16.0 are not SELinux enforcing. So the gain of security is not as high as one would expect from security patch level. So you can try a factory reset of 14.1 as well.
Do you think there is an easy, technical-illiterates-friendly way to install this version of ivan? I am not that keen to have the highest possible security.
When I am emptying the phone anyway, it seems best to me to have the most recent version (if it doesn't matter that I have android 7.1 and not android 9).

Hi,
I have an old Galaxy Note N5110 lying around and would like to revive it. What is the best ROM currently available? Currently it has Lineage 14.1 (I think...) installed.
Main Usage:
- reading and annotating PDF files
- use Mendeley to access my article database
- take notes manually and make plots/drawings
- internet access
I don't care about gaming , social networks or photos.
Cheers
Jorge

Can confirm. I also have a Note 8 Tablet (N5100) and have flashed Lineagos 14.1 (many times).
There's another thread where someone was trying to flash Lineagos 16 onto the N5100/N5110, but can't seem to find it.
Will update if I find it.
Rr 585 works very well. My son is using it for videos and games. Very stable.

I haven't seen any news on it since, though
I'm interested what battery and screen time are you getting with custom roms? I have LOS 14.1 and I'm getting only about an hour of screen time with a new battery.
That's got to be a bad battery then. I regularly get a couple hours, depending on usage. Youtube not so much, reading e-books... dunno, maybe 5?
I have installed LineageOS 14.1 to this tablet and the battery usage is average to the used by the ancient Kitkat. The issue with LineageOS is about unlocking the tablet, the proccess is too laggy and you have to retry many times to unlock it. I forgot: many gestures are lost with LineageOS, for instance, to pause the youtube videos putting your hand over the screen, to take screenshots with the SPen...
Currently LineageOS allows to update the OS version to 16 (I think it is Android 9) but you have to compile it and to try to update the firmware.
Hello,
I have a samsung galaxy note 8.0 model GT-5110 tablet and I would like to update it to android 11, I just don't know what procedure to do, what characteristics the device has to meet or if I have to download a Rom.
I would like to know what you recommend me to do. Thank you very much
What's the best stable ROM for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet N5110 in 2022-23? Kindly guide how to update. My device is running on Kitkat since then, but I have used the device very seldom. Its almost brand new ()
I've loved my N7 2013 since I got it when it came out. It used to be unbelievably snappy, but at some point an OTA made it slow, then the next one even slower. I realised that the Facebook app kills the device so I took that off. Then I rooted the device and did a factory reset. It is less sluggish, but still a bit too slow for me.
If 6.0.1 stock, which I am running right now, is the culprit, which older stock should I go back to? I'd like to strike a balance between speed and going so far back in versions that the security risks and other trade-offs are too great.
I am prepared to also try a custom ROM but I would prefer using my tablet over fiddling with it so I'd like some advice as to which ROM (stock or otherwise) is most likely to speed up my beloved N7.
I highly recommend LineageOS 14.1. (Nougat) It was the last official version for N7 by LineageOS. Everything works on 14.1.... and it is super stable.
wileyc has an unofficial version of it. He is leaving the original build unchanged but is creating security updates almost weekly. Here is the link to his posting:

Thanks Tam, looks like a good contender. If one wants to regularly flash these updates for security, am I right in saying that each time the device is wiped, or can you avoid losing your configuration and apps? Is there a clever way to avoid a lot of hassle with backup/restore and reconfiguring your device each time?

Edit. Hi Lief, I mis-advised (hazzards of being a noob giving advice). You will actually have to do a clean install of lineage 14.1. Meaning that you will have to reinstall all of your apps and settings.... On a plus side there is virtually no bloat in Lineage 14.1, and there is something to be said for how well your N7 will run with a fresh install.
Sorry for the misinformation
Leif, You are correct. Nothing changes with your apps or configuration.
Just download the update/latest build to your device and install with TWRP. VOILA! Done. Pretty hassle free.

I can confirm that the answer is yes - LineageOS 14.1 on deb (LTE) does support video out via the USB port and a Slimport adapter.

I'm on lineage os 17.1 , Nexus 7 2013 Flo (32gb) , I remember having issues with bluetooth on 14.1 ( sisaxis controller ) and that's why I upgraded to 17.1.
It's a little bit laggy but nothing serious.
Hope that Can help.
