Question: Upgrade from unofficial to official (Nexus 9) - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hello,
I am inclined to install the latest unofficial ROM for Lineage OS on my Nexus 9. Of course I only want to do so if I can upgrade to the official version (once it is out) without a full wipe.
Does anyone know this is possible?

Unfortunately not, as the builds are signed differently. I miss that ability as well. Migrations are just one-way via the experimental build.

Thank you, that's what I thought. I'll be a little more patient then and wait.

Which cyanogenmod build (official or unofficial) to use ?

Hello,
I tried to search "cyanogenmod" in this forum but the search engine crashed repeatedly. So let me post my question here.
I plan to purchase the Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 2014 (SM-P600) for mainly hand writing notes purpose. I also would like to install cyanogenmod (even if it voids the warranty),
but although this device is within the officialy supported device list, there is still no stable release for it, just nightly ones.
Within the developer section of this forum, I saw several cyanogenmod threads where some unofficial roms are proposed. So my question is : which cyanogenmod rom to install ? preferably the most stable one and with a working S-pen.
I would be grateful to one developer to lead me towards a working rom for this device.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards

Flash the unofficial release. Official CM doesn't have proper device support and never will. Also, don't upgrade the stock rom to Lollipop in order to keep the KitKat bootloader. The Lollipop bootloader causes CM not to play well with the s-pen.

Actually cyanogenmod changed their minds and just updated to our new repos just a few hours ago so you should be able to grab the next official build of CM13 when it gets released.

When installing firmware is necessary?

I see some people recommending each other installing firmware packages (3.5.5 in most cases) and I just wonder what's the point of this? I've installed official snapshot of CM13 right after unboxing of my OP3 and now I'm confused - did I make it right? Maybe I should first update OxygenOS and THEN install CM13? Or maybe I should flash 3.5.5 firmware zip over the CyanogenMod right now?
Thanks for explain in advance.

You don't have to update OxygenOS before CM, so you did it right! (But at least in some versions of CM14.1 it is required to have OxygenOS 3.2.6 or newer to work.)
3.5.5 is just a community build based on OxygenOS.

Interesting! I did flash MC13 without even knowing that i needed 3.2.6 lol it worked just fine and i have flashed MC14.1 a few times... Once you got MC13 installed going back to stock really really sucks!!!

We can sideload it using TWRP? Coming from custom ROM?

Hi,
I have the original rom 6.0.1 but it is unlocked with TWRP..., notification appeared to update to Nougat and the system restarted and went to TWRP.
Can I install over the current rom the file I just download via TWRP? (https://android.googleapis.com/packa...3e21e543c0.zip)
Thanks

AFAIK, you could NOT do it with custom recovery. It will brick your device.
Official download link/instructions @ razer's site now. h ttps://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?threads/robin-factory-images-and-usb-driver.21487/
This update has been really bad on all of my Robins. I've taken them all back to the last 6 build.
My issues experienced on four different robins:
Would not connect to LTE.
Random reboots.
Freezing and then reboots.
Phones would get extremely hot.

If this is true then I will not do the update (Nougat) until I check more reports about the same or the opposite.
I'll wait...!
I've been running the Nougat beta without issues for the last couple months. Now I'm on official 7.1.1 Beta and it's quite nice. No random reboots, no issue with LTE on T-mobile. Heat and the Snapdragon 808 basically go hand in hand though lol. I'm running Ghostpepper Interactive CPU profile and everything is even smoothier than stock lol.

I've only had my Robin for a few weeks, but I've definitely noticed 7.0 being buggy (at least in comparison to my previous Nexus 6P...) Glad to read about a beta for the Robin though. I may take a look at that before resorting to flashing a ROM like Lineage.

Beta builds are also buggy and laggy.
Lineage builds are buggy as hell and no longer maintained until the bugs are fixed.
I can recommend Omni.

I appreciate the advice. I'll be sure to check out Omni.
Today I have received an update from Nextbit from Anroid 7.0 to Android 7.1.1 (I am not on beta channels or custom roms). Size was 540-560 MB. I did not notice change logs as I was excited to see the update suddenly. Android Security patch: April 2017

Quite likely need to run fastboot oem unlock from computer to phone in fastboot mode. Do a quick search for directions on forums.

Here's what I do when i get that encryption unsuccessful.
I do it in a harder way but idk xP
First I flash again to stock recovery and ColorOS 2.1.5i,from the stock recovery I change the storage partition and reflash the custom Rom again and everything seem to work fine.

But you need lvm because you need the space, so install an lvm aware rom like omnirom. Unfortunately lineageos is incompatible with lvm and you get that encryption unsuccessful...

Android 7 on the galaxy Nexus model GT-I9250M?

Hey guys, I have been trying to install android 7 on my nexus. Problem with that is that I can't find any android 7 roms for it anywhere. Does anyone here know if android 7 roms for it exist, and if so, where can I find one?

Last android 6.0/LOS 13.0 builds can be still downloaded and there's DivestOS updatable build: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-divestos-14-1-for-maguro-toro-toroplus.4249415/
Unlegacy Android 7.1 here and LOS 14.1 (Android 7.1) here.
Like @Waldold said DivestOS still get's monthly updates.
Relying on old (abandoned) 2.5 or even over 5 year old builds like @doxtsgaming is linking in his post is probably something you don't want to do in 2023
