Hello all,
I read a while ago that Sony was offering slow charging on Z5s for a longer battery life.
I didn't find it in the settings. I am on Nougat.
I wanted to use it overnight so that the battery last more one than a year as it does nowadays due to very fast charging.

Tried updating to Nouget again, this time with the 378 NOBA update. The battery is life is horrible! I´ve tried disabling this function to see if it´s impacting.
I can do without BT info in my car but not with a handset discharging 15% every 8 hours just for the "phone idle" service.
Cannot understand this one . Sony what have you done?
.376 is good for me. Only problem is recent apps thumbnails being all black

Hi, about 4 days ago the battery life in my phone vastly dropped, with no 'actual' cause. Previously it had been lasting a good 2 days with an hour or two of usage each day, and now it drops 30% in the matter of hours without any use. It's becoming unusable, as by the time i take it off charge at night then go to sleep, it will then be almost dead again by the morning.
I've tried restoring it to an earlier point where it didn't have this problem but that hasn't made a difference. I've also got two batteries and they both have the same problem.
Main battery usage -
Android OS - 44%
Screen - 11%
Voice calls - 8%
Android System - 7%
Has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Android OS - 44% ???
If it was my phone I would suspect that there is something running on the background.
Did you have the OS around 44% before this problem?

Agreed.. and I was the same until I discovered that the App "Android System WebView" was killing my battery, just uninstall / Disable it.. reboot your phone and it should be fine. The downside is.. Webview app is a part of Chrome, so youll probably have to change your G3 browser... I switched to Firefox.. and Its great now
Are you uising a Stock Rom or are you Rooted.. what have you been downloading lately.. Sadly, the latest "Google Play Services" updates, are pretty heavy, although I dont know why.
Another thing to check .. Open Settings > General > Smart Cleaning > Emty any Temp files > Reboot.
As a last resort.. depending on its age... your battery could be dying, theyre about £15 ($20) on eBay.
Hope this helps, but others may have better suggestions than me..

No, it has always been around 20 percent i think, maybe a bit lower. I can't remember for sure though.
Also I forgot to add that I'm using Android 4.4.2

My phone has been rooted and has CloudyG3 installed.
I Haven't really installed anything recently, I've only just updated apps.
The Battery shouldn't be dead as I've got two of them and they both have the same problem.
And finally - There weren't any temp files or cached files to be emptied.

Sorry to say because I use my G3 as my daily driver for work then I can only speak from using a stock rom. Never used CloudyG3, but does it use Play Services or WebView. You could ask this question in the Development thread, but I dont know enough about Cloudy to help.
Hope you get it sorted though

Hello everybody, I have this phone for 4 days and I'm getting terrible battery life! First day I didn't bother so much but now I'm anxious because it loses 1% almost in 2 minutes.
Brightness is 50%, location off, mobile data and bluetooth are always off, I only use wi-fi, but not too often. I used Greenify to hibernate unnecessary apps but I still don't know what is draining my battery! Are there any unnecessary services you disable to improve battery life? Can it be related to weak signal? Because signal from the operator is not that good, sometimes all lines are empty, that is, no signal. I already did a hard-reset the second day I bought.
Any comment is welcomed, thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply, but what version are you asking? You mean program version? It's V10a and no update is available.
Or are you asking for the 'ROOT'? My phone is not rooted.
No signal or weak signal destroy battery life.

Could be lots of things. But that is usually the biggest battery drain next to screen. Without seeing your battery screens it's hard to say.

I can't do it now but the screen time I got is 2 hours and 40 minutes and battery shows it's 40% now.
I saw that it decreased 2% in 5 minutes while writing this.
Be patient rhe battery gets much better after a few cycles since its a new phone. If you had to update right away as soon as you turned on the phone then a favtory reset is recommended

uh your screen time are much much much better than mine. mine could only last about 2 hours everyday, mostly because I use mobile network though.
If you lost 2% in 5 minutes screen on time, you could get 250 minutes or 4 hours screen time.
I went into Settings > Security > Phone administrators and unchecked Android Device Manager. Then, Application Manager > Google Play Services > Uninstall updates, reboot and click on one of the ? with notifications to update Google Play Services. Now you can re-enable Android Device Manager (or not). That will lower your battery drain when the device is in idle.

Thanks to you again, however, the screen time I got was for light tasks such as searching settings tab, checking the working services etc. Almost no heavy stuff like playing games and hours of internet!

I'm happy to hear mine is not that terrible but I will change the brand of my operator today. This weak signal really irritates me. Hard reset didn't work for it, too.

Forgive my ignorance but I can't find the Application Manager.
perhaps you should look into apn settings, as it appears to me your signal strength is your battery issue. google is your friend
Am i the only one who is facing immense battery drain on the latest update 2.19????
When i was on 2.18, battery life was much stable for me, but ever since i got the 2.19 update, the battery drains about 10% overnight.
Sometimes, it is even large.
So i just wanted to ask whether it is just me or everyone is facing these issues???

Its even worse than my 2300mAh device.
I still hope that Asus remembers the battery bug. They have released OTA's, but they have introduced many more bugs.
From what i have read so far, the kernel is faulty. Now that we have our bootloaders unlocked, we can expect a good Dev to debug and recompile the kernel.
AOSP Android should come soon to Zenfone 2
Try clearing cache. Go to autostart manager and stop apps you don't use from starting at boot. In battery settings change your power management profile to smart saving or custom if you know what you're doing.
I keep Bluetooth, NFC, sync and location on always and don't face battery issues.
I haven't been having battery issues. I uninstalled most of the junk apps, so I wonder if you're seeing something from one of those.
Install GSam Battery Monitor and check on your app usage after a while.
on the 2.19 OTA, I left my phone idle for an hour and it drained 5% battery. Yikes!
Okay, So i got the culprit.
I have 2 Sims Installed. 1st one is a local Sim. Whereas the Second one is a Roaming one (National Roaming, not international) with a big "R" besides it.
So i just disabled the Second Roaming Sim from Dual Sim Settings, And bingo!!!. Battery drain stopped. The device seems to be constantly searching for a local network on the second sim.
Additionally, If you read the release note of the 2.19 OTA. You will see:-
7 Improve service stability
10 Improve signal bar stability for sim 2

So, i guess, that Asus improved the SIm 2 slot stability, which probably is forcing my device to constantly find a stable or local network.
Now i have Manually selected my operator. Lets See! :fingers-crossed:

I already use the Autostart manager. plus i have Greenify running on Non-Root mode.
I use the Balanced Mode. Provides Good performance for my needs.

Same here. Though i have not Rooted. I just uninstalled the apps that were uninstallable.
Will give Gsam a shot. Ty for the App suggestion.
I too am facing the battery issues and the other thing is that sometimes just randomly the 2nd sim stops working with the message that it's not installed...
So if the analysis is that it's the apps which drain it then can someone share a debloated rom... Got the bootloader unlocked for the TWRP now might as well use it..
2.18 was rough for me. After 4 complete charges it stabilized. Updated to 2.19, rooted, bootloader unlocked, and TWRP installed yesterday. 100% charge at 9pm last night. This morning at 6am it was down to 91%. Approximately 50 minutes of pandora streaming over cell data this morning and its down to 81% now. Until a fix or CM is released, I take my charger wherever I go.
Hi all,
I've been getting less than 3 hours of screen on time on Open Beta 9. No root, fully stock. I've got Bluetooth on for my Moto 360 and location on battery saving, but I still get horrible battery life. I've tried resetting many times. I get around 3 hours SOT on custom roms, but not much improvement in general.
I have attached screenshots.
Thanks.

Click on the battery graph and see if it ever sleeping. Also try wake lock detector to see what's causing the drain.

Android System seems to be topping the list with 30%. Normally the screen should be on top or some other app. Install BetterBatteryStats and check what is actually draining the battery. Go through the BBS thread here on XDA for possible solutions.

It might be something you installed bro. I personally haven't experienced any issues and my battery on this is better than any phone I've owned before. Maybe download a battery monitor app from Google play and see where the drain is coming from. As far as the lag, I haven't messed with anything in the developer settings so I can't help you there

If that's bluetooth then that could very well contribute to some drainage. I keep getting a notification from phone manager telling me which apps are using data while screen is locked that I can't seem to get to go away lol
