I have tried a few and they all seem to suck battery more than the opperating system if you want them to run in the background and record and type of advanced statistics. I would like to get every day Joe's opinions and recomendations on battery apps that work well and record good statistics like
* % a hour of drain
* good battery graph
* apps and processes and there ram and usage % of cpu they consume including the app its self!
Lets get this one figured out together for the best apps that really work! Thanks guys!
The app I found best for general use is SYSTEM PANEL
Everyone of us want to maximize battery life of our HOX....
So here are some of the tips for that:
1. Use Android’s Built-in Battery Usage Screen:
There’s a screen built into Android that can tell you exactly what is draining your battery. Go to Settings –> Power –> Battery use to see what has been most of your battery.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You can use Battery Monitor Widget Pro to set alarms to know when charging completes and u can set maximum temperature for battery so that when battery reaches max temp u will get a sound notification.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=3c
2. Adjust the Brightness of your phone:
Go to Settings –> Display & Gestures -> Brightness and you can choose Automatic Brightness which usually works fairly well, or you can just turn the brightness down to the lowest acceptable level.
You can also disable Animation & Auto Rotate Screen.
Set Sleep to lesser values like 15 seconds or 30 seconds
3. Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & Mobile Network When You Don’t Need It:
Use Power Dashboard widget to quickly and easily turn on, off or adjust screen brightness, timeout, Wi-Fi and Auto-Sync
4. Disable Google's Location Service:
GPS drains a lot of battery so disable it.
Go to Settings –> Location -> uncheck them
5. Disable Apps that Sync Constantly:
Disable background data transfer as it consumes a lot of data or alternatively sync only essential apps that u need.
Apps like facebook, twitter, mails refresh themselves after a particular interval.
Go to Settings –> Accounts & Sync -> Turn it on or off
you can also change update frequency of apps
6. Disable Sound and Vibration:
Go to Settings -> Sound and then you can disable Dial pad touch tones, Touch Sound, Screen lock sound and vibrate feedback
Secondly Go to Settings ->Language & Keyboard -> HTC Sense Input Settings -> and then disable Sound feedback, vibration feedback and trace keyboard{ if you don't use this feature }
7. Use 2G Network as it drains lesser battery compared to 3G
If you are using internet on Wifi then disable 3G data as it drains more battery compared to Wifi
8. Use HTC's Inbuilt Task Manager to See Which Apps are running:
You can kill those apps which you normally don't use{ though irrelevant in android }
Check this link as to know why Task Killers are irrelevant in Android:
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/02/revisiting-android-task-killers-and-why-you-dont-need-one/
Check here to know more about Android Multitasking:
http://android-developers.blogspot.in/2010/04/multitasking-android-way.html
9. Don't use live wallpapers and disable Wallpaper Scrolling and use only those homescreen widgets that you require and you can delete additional homescreens that you don't require{ no need to use all 7 homescreens }
When you are at home, just tap on home button and you will get this screen where you can add or delete homescreens:
10. Use Titanium Backup's{ Paid } Freezing Function:
It prevents the apps from running without uninstalling them and frozen apps are not shown in App Drawer and cannot be launched. {You can defrost if you want}
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
11. Use custom kernels that support underclocking to:
Reduce processor speed { Underclock } and either choose interactive, ondemand or other governors as it also reduces temperature.
Use app SetCPU for Root Users to set processor speed and governors.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mhuang.overclocking
Alternatively you also use System Tuner App for this purpose, is free:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.pmw.pro
12. You can use a battery saver app like Easy Battery Saver:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.easy.battery.saver
You can select any of the following modes as per your needs:
13. Use ROM CLeaner Script by Patrics83:
If you are on Sense ROM than you can remove a lot of bloatware from HTC including Rosie Launcher.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589949
14. Check this link to know more about our HOX's Li-Po Battery:
http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/the_li_polymer_battery_substance_or_hype
I hope that you find these tips helpful and have any questions please feel free to ask, I'll try to help you if I can.
Good one!
One way I'd like to say (<< that rhymed xD), how you use the screen. This hasn't been mentioned anywhere afaik but I think it will help saving battery for sure.
When viewing tweets, browsing a web-page, browsing messages, or scrolling through any long list, try to read everything on the screen and then scroll one whole section up. I had this habit of scrolling while reading anything on my phone, so I'll read 5-6 lines and scroll and again and again. Whenever you touch/swipe the screen(to scroll), it requires more power compared to just viewing the screen. So say there are a 100 lines in a page, then instead of scrolling 20 times I can scroll 4 times to read the whole thing hence saving the processing power required for touch-detection thereby saving battery.
^^That lmakes a lot of sense to me . Cheers!
Lol... Nice.
wow! nice work mate very helpful

Looks interesting, thanks!
Good thread!
Nice thread, thanks!
Can't you also do things like, use a dark coloured static wallpaper.
I think that there's also an option som ewhere to enable battery trickling or something like that, once a battery gets to 100%, even if it's still 'charging/plugged in' it'll start to discharge I believe.
Enabling Battery Trickling negates this as it'll force more juice into the battery even if it's technically 100% charged. So it negates that discharge effect.
I'll post more if can remember how to set it up.
Thanks Everyone

Yeah we can also use a Dark Wallpaper or better use no wallpaper to save more battery
Don't know about Battery Trickling
It will be good if you can elaborate it

The 'Battery Trickle' is something that an SBC Kernel can perform, it's known as a Superior Battery Charging Kernel, it continues to trickle-charge the battery even after it reaches 100%. Non-SBC kernels cut off charging at that point, and the battery begins depleting even though the battery meter still says 100%.
Sorry I should have made that clearer earlier.
SBC Kernels have issues though as they can degrade the lifespan of a battery.
In the point of Auto-Sync ON/OFF,
have a question if have some widget or apps to touch it and get auto-sync all? and left the Auto sync in OFF.
an old friend told me that using only one location in the weather widget in sense could have bettered the HOX battery life, and for me it did
thx man ...
but the idea of buying a flagship phone like HOX, only 2 end up lowering and disabling everything dosnt make any sense 2 me !!!
Even with the power saver feature in 4.1 Android JB, you still have the impression that ur battery is leaking out somehow :/
Shame on HTC !!!
Using a dark wallpaper would actually be worse for the battery. My nexus 4 and your one x's use an lcd screen. Lcd screens use less battery displaying whites compared to when displaying darker colors such as black. The logic thst darker wallpapers use less battery only works with amoled screens

Just see my signature to actually increase battery life along with performance ... I get an easy 3day battery and goes through 1½ days on a holiday and about 7-8 hours on continuous 2g browsing and 5-6 hours on 3g browsing ... this is wayy beyond of wat the device was said to by Samsung ... and all this with good performance ... see my sign

Someone who has the same taste as mine. Id like the stock rom retained plus a custom kernel to save my battery.
2-3 days max would be already enough for me since I dont really play games that much.
Youre a kabayan? Why u not showing up at the filipino thread for SGY?
Thanks bro. Imma try hells fusion.

Battery Accelerated Drainage
Hi,
I have S2 Plus running android 4.2.2. It has a very nice battery life when used for calls and sms.
My problem is that I experience a massive battery drainage even after turning off the WiFi.
It seems that something keeps on and never shuts down.
Does anyone have experience with the cause/resolution for this?
I appreciate your help.
Murad.
Are there any mods to extend battery life? I'm using eXistenz rom and it has decent battery life, but I'm wondering are there any mods/scripts to extend it more
There is no magic to save battery.. You can: Turn off everything you are not using (Bluetooth, GPS...), enable Extended Standby Mode, reduce screen brightness to 30% or so, remove bloatware, underclock processor, change governor, greenify apps like Facebook, if you don't use Google Apps you can freeze Google Play Services, remove the vibration on the keyboard and the touch sounds, keep an eye on your wakelocks, and if you like you can use apps like Snapdragon Battery Guru.
