Lg h815 stuck without os lgup help not working - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys need help desperately been fighting with the phone since Tuesday,
lg H815 G4 was on Marshmallow (MM) and I wanted to go back to a previous version to lollipop (LL) so I decided to download the LGUP application on my Computer I had then found a KDZ for my phone which was a 10B/C . I started it up and it hanged at 11%. So I thought oh well will be able to turn the phone back and continue using it on MM, however when I turned the phone on it will just hang on the LG logo and then force itself to go into download mode. I assume that the Previous OS has been deleted so it can only go into Download mode or Factory Reset. So now I am trying to get it back alive, however whenever I use LGUP I am getting the same error code at 11%. My DLL version for LGUP is 0.0.4.0. When it reaches 11% it hangs for about 10-15 seconds and shows a error code whilst being on the "modem" step. the error code it shows is: Error: Error Code = 0x2000, [ERROR] RX TIMEOUT : 5.0. I was also trying the Lg 2014 tool and that was not working neither is LG bridge update recovery and Lg flash tool is also not working. whilst reading this thread I realise I can only use LGUP as the phone is/was on MM. I have also used around 7 different KDZ all not working
Please I need help to fix the phone as someone is coming to buy it tomorrow (Friday)
I await for your response (s)

#Solution# Flashed Wrong Model Rom To D852.

So Long Story,
Monday November 24, I Changed Out Battery Go To Restart Phone, Phone Wont Boot Stuck On LG Screens And Constantly Retrying. Tuesday Night November 25, I ReInstall Factory Firmware For G3 D852 – With Success – Phone Working. Wednesday November 26, I Decide To Root & Install TWRP – With Success – Phone Working No Issues. Friday November 28, This Is Where Sh*t Hits The Fan! I Get Crazy & Attempt To Install ChupaChups Lollipop Rom With TWRP – Seemingly Successful Install But After Reboot Wont Boot Stuck In Fast Boot. So I Attempt To Resolve This Following Other Forum Posts Using FastBootOV – WITHOUT Success – Now When Attempting To Boot Phone LG Screen Comes Up Top Left Corner Says “ERROR Boot Certification Verify” Below That Says “590 Secure Booting ERROR!” Then Black Screen With Flashing Red & Blue LED. I Attempted To ReInstall Factory Firmware For D852 With LG Flashtool Attempt Fails Stating Wrong Model Number – Phone States On Screen Near Bottom Now D855 Ver5.0 Below That D85520A.
Finally Success With Phone December 28, After Countless Hours Trying to Find Some Shred Of Info To Resolve This Including Posting Here For Help Without A Response. I Proceed To Attempt To Reinstall Factory Firmware For D852 - Failed Same Result Wrong Model Number D855. Actual Model D852. I Then Decided F**K It Ill Install D855 Factory 32G Firmware UK Version Why Not? At This Point Phones A Paper Weight In This Time Had To Purchase Another Phone (So I Dont Lose My Mind) - All Available Information Points To Send In For Warranty. So I Do So Again Attempting To Install The D855 UK Firmware Failed To Install Using LG FlashTool, This Time Stating Partition Errors. So I Find After Random Searching & Random Reading Of Everything LG G3. I Find A Generic LG G3 DLL File (LGUP_8974.DLL). Using The Generic LG G3 DLL & Factory Firmware D852 With LG FlashTool - This Time Working Up To 89%, Phone Reboots Shows Large 2, Crossing My Fingers Waiting For The Large 3. What Actually Pops Up Is A Large 0. I Attempt To Reboot Phone Goes To Mini OS, Set Phone To Reboot Normally - AND SUCCESS!!!!!! Factory OS Boots Up, The Usual YADAYADA Setup.
So Thats All, A Long Winded Story BUT Now There Seems To A Cure To Flashing WRONG Model G3 Roms To Your Device.
Hope This Works For Everyone - I Have Devoted Coutless Hours Trying to Avoid Sending My Phone In.
Good Luck!!
I Am Unable To Post Download Link For Generic DLL File Since I Am A New Member.
I did the exact same mistake with my D852 and my LG G3 says my phone is a D855 in the firmware update, I will try this out and hopefully it works!!!!

Man, this was a long story but I am so glad you have posted this. I always wondered what would happen if I by mistake flash the wrong file (diff model), and now I know. Can you please send me the link to the info and the files, just in case I end up where you were (email: elmspace at gmail dot com), I would appreciate it.
Thanks man. I was just wondering what is going to happen to my LG g3 D856 variant if i flash D855 kdz. Now um not gonna do that. Let's not flash any rom. I successfully rooted and am using D858HK twrp ( yeah D858HK) successfully.
hi hi
hi hi same problem after i want to root the phone my LG G3 D852 my phone stuck on fastboot mode blackscreen ,my pc see it like Android bootloader Interface BUT no other programs see it try lg flash tool or lg repair tool or cmd command nothing they don't see my G3 HELP HELP PLEASE
Sorry for the no response on this problem , got the same problem last year by flashing the d850 rom to a d852 model but this solution is not recommended. It works sometimes (was working with mine but I bring it to LG because the motherboard dies for no reason after one month of use lol) but the installation can go wrong and destroy your motherboard.

Holy hell I ran into the same issue and spent countless hours getting my D852 back to life after flashing the wrong ROM. I found this and sure enough it came back!

Need Help Lg G4 Bricked......

Hello Everyone,
i need help reviving my lg g4 and i search all the forms but no avail. I just got a G4 4 days ago only it was running lollipop and working fine i just check for the MM update in phone but there was no update so as i previously own a lg g4 with flumics rom so i decided to flash a kdz with MM update. I see my model no. as h815 so i download H81520h_00_0516.kdz and flashed it through lg flash tool 2014 it flashed without no error but after the flash i got no display in phone just blue led flashes and i hear lg boot sound and then just nothing on phone display it switched off itself. I try to go into hard reset but again no display i try to go into download mode again no display. I attached it to pc it shows LGE Mobile USB Composite Device. Although it shows in lgup tool as H815 and port no. as well.I search my model no. through IMEI i found that it is actually F500L model as i see Korean as it flashed 1st time in download mode. After some research i manage to go into download mode by removing the battery and attaching the phone to pc as it shows empty battery icon so i inserted the battery by pressing the vol up button it goes into download mode. So i try to flash the right firmware which is F500L20u_00_0504.kdz bhut lgup says it invalid kdz i try to flash it through lg flashtool2014 but it says cannot connect to server and failed with contact system administrator. Although it flashes H815_EU_10C_00.kdz and India H818N10d_00.kdz firmware's but those give no display at all i tried it with Lg Bridge as it shows update avalable F500l and it download it but failed to flash it. I try flashing korean tot file LGF500LAT-00-V11d-LGU-KR-SEP-21-2015+0.tot through lgup tool but again it said invalid tot file So friends i am stuck and looking for 5 days to find any solution So anyone can please help me i just used it for 1 day . So can anyone help me.
You have to edit a F500L kdz with a hex editor and replace every F500L to H815 or something that flashes without error
First, if it's H815, you're to flash an H815 kdz with LG up
http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G4/H815/
Put into download mode and refurbish the kdz accordingly.

Lg G4 H815 hard-bricked with different qualcomm soft?

Hello, (complete n00b here)
Several days ago I've tried to flash a 6.0 MM (from 5.1) to my LG G4 H815 phone. There was no option to do it automatically so I proceded to do it manually via flashboot.
I hard-bricked it to oblivion as in black screen, no response whatsoever.
While investigating @ the internet I've managed to understand I could get it fixed via quadcomm drivers (mode 9008).
Tried various "fixes" for H815 but was getting safari download errors. For some reason I tried a LS991 fix and it worked. When I started the phone it showed no logo but just a secure booting error 1006.
Still, could enter firmware download so I began to flash a lot of KDZ firmwares with no success.
LGUP shows my model : H81510H.
While in fastboot mode there is a note below (wasn't there the first time) with codes : 633 B46 or something like that.
While flashing anything it ALWAYS STOPS at 9% with a tot anti-rollback error. While flashing the code changes briefly where one can read smth like : LGLS991ZVA ver. 6.0
Managed to download some KDZ for that exact model, SAME ERROR. Tried to find / flash LS991ZVA with no success in finding a TOT file.
Also, managed to get ADB drivers up and it shows unauthorized in listing (LS991). Fastboot does not detect my device even in fastboot mode @ phone.
Please HELP!

Hello and thx for reply. I tried to do what u've said. It did something (I was looking for a while back). When I plug the cable back in, my windows 7 immediately installs quadcomm hs-usb driver (9008) and my phone acts as if it was dead. LGUP cannot find it in that state. I've been trying to QFIL the "proper" soft but it continues to pop different errors (using different QFIL versions). Either saharafail or some sort of download fail.
LGUP still presents an error (if I decide to "fastboot" it) @ 9% 0x2000, TOT antirollback version is smaller than device version.
How can I make sure I've got the proper KDZ without ANTI-ROLLBACK?

Thx again. Uppercut shows H81510H as LGUP did. Is it possible that it's somehow write-protected?
It confuses me, since during the firmware update on my phone, I get this small box below the picture showing wierd codes : 633A Bxx and when I'm trying to flash my phone, the code gets longer with LS991ZVA v6.0 and more other. It then stops.
Funny thing is, when I got the phone I couldn't even connect to the LG bridge to update it at all. I've managed to do it bugging the MTP protocol but THAT on the other hand prevented me from copying stuff / FLASH my phone to MM 6.0. Had to factory reset it back then and all went back to "normal" = LG couldnt detect my device but I could copy photos or stuff from it.
NOW, when my phone is bricked, LGbridge DETECTS my phone (in fastboot), downloads the newest KDZ update BUT cannot install it (same thing as in LGUP). Hence my question : is it somehow write-protected?

Have you tried to eset it by pushing power and volume own then when you see bootsplash then release power button and hen quickly push the power button again....
But in your case push power and volume down within the count or 20 then release power then push power button again and see what happens and then try the same thing on volume up......
Thanks for the reply.
I did what u've said. Despite no logo I tried to release power button for a second just after the screen's brightness goes up (I also get a small vibration @ start). Everytime I get secure booting error 1006 after a few seconds.
On the other hand when I did that with volume UP button there was no error but there was nothing aswell until I release power button in which case I got the secure booting error. All of the above tries were done with no USB connection with anything.

Can't tell atm since I gave it to professionals. I'll wait and see how it'll turn up. Thx for all the effort tho, was nice to tinker with a lil help
@Longbranch did you solve this problem ? I'm in the same state but my phone model is H810, everything else is the same as yours.
Nope, not really. I gave it back to the reseller and my money got returned luckily.
The professionals I refer to above did install a specific firmware for the ls991 type. Firmware ZVB I think. The only one appliable apparently. Anyways, as I suspected the ls991 type is for the US and therefore it didn't work in my country in EU. My sim card wouldnt work with it. Besides, without the sim card, the phone decided to freeze and die after several minutes every time I turn it on. Swapped for LG G5 and it's working flawlessly up until this day.
good for you, what i don't understand is that it's a h810 model but now identify as ls991 does that mean you can convert it just by a Qfil flash? I may try another model flash if can't find a suitable Rom for it

Yes! That's what I and neutrondev telling everyone :
do not use qfil without the knowledge about the result!
The only working firehose file available out there is for the ls991 and that means if you use it it will turn your device into a ls991 without any way to get back to your previous device model!!

@steadfasterX since I have done it already is there any way to get it working even as an LS991 ?
here is what i did till now
the reason for using Qfill is that it went dead after flashing an H810 rom .
after that when it's in download mode it doesn't allow me to flash the ls911ZV5 ls911ZV6 ls911ZV6_12 roms that i found ( it says LS991ZVA )
so i went in fastboot and flashed boot/aboot/recovery....img extracted from the ls911ZV6 rom then it accepted the rom in download mode
but it is stuck in a hard bootloop ( reboots when it is getting in recovery but still has download mode yet no fastboot as before)
any thoughts ?

Yes it's possible. You can boot a h811 H815 or any other rom you like. Even LOS!!
Great right? BUT you are bounded to the ls991 modem and so you need to be in a sprint network to use telephony. That means the phone is now useless outside the US .
And you wrote you tried ls911 ROMs? I hope you meant ls991
I work on a fully working experience on every network though. Checkout my proof of concept for unlocking the bootloader thread
I can go into details on IRC if you like.

@steadfasterX thank you for keeping up with me ! ( btw what room on IRC ?)
for now I have used Qfill again and got fastboot working again and flashed TWRP ( not sure where ! ) so when the phone is off and i plug the usb it boots to twrp ( but it doesn't in recovery )
normal boot will show "secure boot error 1002"
then i flashed twrp img to recovery partition using twrp but it didn't work in recovery ( still reboots after showing Recovery Mode loading screen )
also tried to load some roms on the device to try them but I got error "file too large for filesystem " when copying them .
atm I don't know the state I'm in and what should be next ?
btw here are the recovery log and dmesg

Np we can bring you back to life but as already said without cell service. That's the price for the firehose and unlocked feeling you have now.
Did you found and read my thread here?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/bl-unlock-unlock-bootloader-proof-t3648288
There you will find some more info and also the IRC details how you can find me. I'm online from Monday to Friday mainly.
It's much easier to talk in chat then here. once all the details are known I will provide a full guide.

LG G4 H815 problem

I have a problem, after starting the LG screen.
It will probably be a software error because it does not have a bootlop. When Factory reset is turned on, it shows up, but it does not respond before the ending.
Download mode works, but LGUP does not open completely and wants to enter the model but where?
I've already explored everything with LGUP, the latest 8994 dll version, but it does not respond.
I also explored LG Tools, that recognizes my model H815, the update will run but always at 16% end.
Does anyone know what to do?
Well thank you.

HELP : I flashed H815 firmware on my F500L...Stuck

Hi Everyone.
I'm in a big mess.
My LG G4 showed as H815 in device information (But it was F500L) . It had 5.1 (LP).
To update it to 7.0 (N) I flashed the TOT file for N with version H815 thru LG UP.
Now it did complete to 100%. The phone rebooted and showed error like " Central App not loded" or something like this.
I tried again to Flash the TOT file thru LG Up. It went till 21% then shoed error command not recognized.
I triedLG bridge. It shows device as F500L.
Although LG Bridge says update available, it could not update either.
So the problem is I flashed wrong version. My phone is F500L and its showing "firmware update" when plugged into USB with PC.
In LG Up it shows as H81510H
Please guide friends....

Why u flashed the tot file?
For your Location (Korea ? ) there is an official Update to 7....
Look here: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-f500l-firmwares/
or this Link: https://lg-kdz-firmware.com/
You should use LGUP again and flash back with stock 5.1 or 6.0 kdz, follow the link.
Hope will helps you otherwise reply

Okay, that Sounds good Yes really..
I think the Probelm is in LGUP´s dll, you must replace the LGUP_8994.dll with the L500F kdz from.
Download the Tool LG Firmware extract, Link from my GDrive:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NTzwI-qLBpIgTov5PC4THZJWbAOhJDO3/view?usp=sharing
Start the tool and load the kdz in, then you see some files in the tool. Mark the lgup8994.dll and extract it, close the tool.
The dll can find now in the Folder of LG Firmware extract tool, rename it to LGUP_8994.dll
Copy that new dll and put into C:\Program Files\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\8994
The old LGUP_8994.dll remove to desktop and put the new dll in here and start again with LGUP.
Please point LGUP to Refurbish and NOT to Upgrade. The old dll that was in the Folder is for the Nougat tot file and the H81520p kdz only.
Hopefully thats will works for you, normaly it should !

Well this is not working.
LG UP recognizes my phone as H81529a. So it doesn;t let me flash F500L rom.
When I extracted 3994 DLL from F500L KDZ and replace in LGUP folder and start LG UP. It shouts wrong version DLL.
Is there any way I can make LG UP to recognize my device as F500L and Not H81529a.
LG Bridge recognizes it as F500L though but it doesn't update my phone either.
Please help n guide

Okay, the H81529a Header says LGUP that is a G4 H815 with Anroid 7 ( 29a) on it. Okay, the LGUP_3994.dll wont work for your F500L kdz. By the Way..wich kdz you try to flash? is it a MM one or the Korean Nougat ?
On my H815 i had the 29a after flashing the Nougat tot file too and came back to MM ONLY with H81520p_00_0314.kdz other kdz for my H815 did fail too.
This Problem with LGUP is only the dll file...so you must find a working dll for LGUP.
Maybe you download the Korean Nougat kdz and extract the dll like the last posting before and flash the Korean Nougat, i think the Korean Nougat has 29a too, so LGUP should work.....
Or find a F500L20p kdz file...
I don´t know what to do yet. Sorry.

Well...
I have been able to sucessfully flash H81520p_00_0314.kdz on it.
It starts but no signal / network.
I'm from India so I think the version I flashed doesn't match with Indian Band.
Now what to do ?
In India following works :
2G network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
3G network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100|TD-SCDMA
4G network LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Data GPRS,EDGE,HSDPA,HSUPA,HSPA,HSPA+,LTE

For my undstanding....
1) You have still H81520p_00_0314.kdz running on your Phone ? but no Indian Band ?
2) What Header is LGUP showing now?
If you have H81520p_00_0314.kdz on it, you are able to Downgrade to ever Version you want, H81520p_00_0314.kdz make it possible only !
So, find out your Rom for your Location and flash it with LGUP. Keep the 8994 dll it comes from H81520p_00_0314.kdz in the folder and flash.
After downgrade with LGUP (Refurbish Mod ) do a Over the Air update on your Phone or via LG Bridge and do "correct update Error" instead of "Search for Updates" and normaly its works.
Follow this Links for the Roms
http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/
https://lg-kdz-firmware.com/
If you are unsure what rom you must get, go to https://lg-firmware-rom.com/
and type your IMEI in and watch for the results.
Greetings....
Well
Problems just dont seem to end.
I hooked it up with LG bridge.
It showed model as "G4".
No version no code just G4.
I started to update it (thats before I read your msg)
Update stopped in between and phone turned off. I unplugged it and pulled out the battery. Restarted.
It showed LG logo and agained turned off.
I tried to reset by pressing Down vol n power button.
Options came to reset n I reset it.
Now again turned on. It showed optimizing android.
Stopped at 4 of 32 app and screen went blank.
Now LG bridge reads it as L500F at place of G4.
Hooked up again in download mode and LG UP disnt recognize it. Again restarted.
LG up recognized as H81520p.
I reflashed thr H815 20 p kdz.
Completed successfully.
But the problem is again same. It shows optimizing android and screen goes blank after 3 of 32 app or 4 of 32 app.
Have I messed up the recovery ?
I am able to go into download mode and LG up reads it as H81520p.
Plz guide

I will do my Best my Friend.
I don't understand why the optimizing Process stops....
Maybe there is something blocking the process.
My only idea now is to flash Twrp on it and wipe all chaches. Davlik,Data and Cache and let the phone boot up and see what is going on. This is the working TWRP for G4 on H81520p
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sOsVDs1vZzuvirWQ0ByFPZv9BC9Eu4yH/view?usp=sharing
But for twrp flashing the Bootloader must be unlocked. You can do this on lg developer page ( https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev ), type in your IMEI and you get a unlock.bin via email.
I think you know the process for Bootloader unlocking otherwise i will guide you.
Greetings from Germany

Can bootloader be unlocked in LG G4 MM ?
Initially when i flashed nougat TOT on it, the firmaware update page was either in korean or chinese then after nougat TOT flash ot became in english.
Could it be that the recovery is also overwritten ?
Plz point me to bootloader unlock for it.

Hey.
Yes you can unlock Bootloader in MM too.
After the bootloader is unlocked, the Phone will reboot and do a Hardreset itself, you can´t do anything to block the Hardreset.
Notice: After flashing in any Versions the Recovery will be deleted too !! Example, if you have TWRP on the Phone and flashing any kind of firmware, the Recovery with TWRP in it will be deleting..thats normal in the flashing process.
BUT you CAN´T unlock the Bootloader yet ! You must enable the Developer Mod in the Phone first and set OEM unlock.
Your Phone does not boot up correctly at this moment, this Problem MUST be solved first !!
Did you try a Hardreset ?
Switch Phone off, pull Battery and place it back. Press the Volume down Button and keep hold and press Power Button and keep pressed, after LG Logo is showing up, release the Power Button for 1 secound but still keep Volume down pressed. Press Powerbutton again and hold pressed until the Green Android thing is showing up, release both buttons now.
In short: After Battery was pulled and replaced..
Press and hold VOL -
Press and hold Power
after LG Logo is showing up
Release Power 1 Sec. and press again and hold until Android puppy is showing, release both Buttons.
Now the Phone should boot up and do the optimazion process correctly.
If not, then i have no more ideas. Maybe flash a MM 5.0 Version over the MM 6.0 via REFURBISH option in LGUP
Hopefully something works for you.

SO Finally it's dead.
I tried to hard reset and the puppy appeared and then it rebooted. Again went to optimizing apps. Stuck at 14 of 32.
Became unresponsive.
I pulled out the battery and reinserting after 20 sec.
Nothing.
After several battery removal and reinserts, I managed to get it in download mode.
I was trying to Flash H815 20p KDZ again as it was working initially. But at 50% process of flashing, it shows error of USB Disconnected and phone screen went blank.
Since then it was neither starting nor getting in download mode. Tried everything.
It doesn't even show after connecting to PC.
Dead as dodo.
I looked at it with more attention. Removed the battery cover saw the model on mobile body,
it has model no H811
On box the model no is H815
LG Bridge recognized it as F500L.
IMEI No search says its F500L.
So basically it looks to either a refurbished phone or a fake.
I bought it thru eBay on 18th Jan 18. So I had to claim refund against a faulty product.
I suppose I'll get a refund, I will skip replacement as it's likely that the seller might again push a refurbished / fake phone.
End of the story till then.
If I dont get a refund I'll revive the thread.
Thanks to FOTO AG and XDA for support n advice.

Sorry to hear that Mate.
Hopefully you get a christall clear G4 one Day. Maybe you get an other Model in the Future, a Samung or similar, who knows.
Wish you all the Best !
maybe a hint for you, pls watch this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj5TDjvqv54
Greets
You should have hexedited a F500L tot(wich is your motherboard version) and changed the LGX to H815, saved the file and then flashed. That could been solved your issue and turned your phone back to F500 with a functional and booting system
