Whenever i boot to the bootloader, then plug phone into computer, it doesn't change to fastboot usb mode
Are you using the usb cable that came with the phone?
If you plug in the phone first, can you adb reboot to bootloader?
Is usb debugging enabled in developer options?
If USB debugging is on in your settings than wile in hboot just volume up or down to reboot fastboot.
It's done that for me and that's what I did
Usb debugging has no effect in the boot loader.
Can't you just select fastboot from the boot loader menu?

I was actually just reading on another post, USB Debugging is needed for adb, but not fastboot.
Never really thought about it that much, I had assumed like jball that you need USB Debugging for both adb and fastboot.

Usb debugging has no effect outside of the os. Adb can be used in recovery regardless of usb debugging.

Well look at that. For some reason, I thought you can use adb in bootloader, but I just tried it and it didn't work. And like you said, only in OS and recovery; and whether USB debugging is selected or not does not affect adb use in recovery. Fastboot likewise doesn't need USB debugging; and phone obviously needs to be in fastboot mode.
We are all learning on XDA
Hi all, i wish to know why i cant root my asus zenfone go (z00vd) (cannot found the category in our site sry). I used some guides, all of them says the same process. Install adb driver, done. Fastboot mode your phone, done. Check with command line fastboot devices, done. Write "fastboot oem unlock" or "fastboot flashing unlock", the device says "unknown command". I allowed usb degub and oem unlock from inside the phone (installed fw 37). i tried several times, pls help me !! thanks so much.
few points. first of all disable usb debugging and revike all usb debugging authorizations. now connect phone to pc and enable the usb debugging. now on your device a message is must to appear something like authorize this computer or pc. tick that option and always authorize pc for usb debugging. enable oem unlocking in developer options..
second thing is special fastboot.exe.. the thread where you downloaded root files. there must be a special fastboot version. use the downloaded fastboot.exe to perform unlocking command
Hi,
My phone is soft bricked, stuck in charging icon, but it responds to adb and fastboot. I tried unlocking and flash from fastboot - no luck.
USB debugging is not enabled in the device, maybe that is preventing it from flashing.
Any help, please.
Thanks,
Hello,
Is it possible to enable usb debugging via fastboot ?
My phone is locked at the lock screen because the keyboard is hidden due to Vysor's app. I know my password to unlock the phone but i cannot type it.
It is not rooted.
I tried to plug a keyboard with OTG, but it didn't work.
Do you know if there is a method to pass the lock screen ?
At OxygenOS 12 adb works only in file transfer mode. If I won't enable it, adb devices lists nothing.
Is it bug? Or maybe there's some kind of option switch for it? Didn't find anything in developer settings so far...
Edit: I've just discovered that if I'm connected to adb (debugging enagled, authorized, usb in file transfer mode) and then change mode to charging only, then usb debugging is disabling completely in developer settings.
And I can't use adb in fastboot/recovery mode.
Yes it is true u cant usb in charger-only mode
Because there is written already "Charger-Only"
