Hey all,
Since I first unlocked my 10, I've been trying to get a Lineage/CM based rom on the thing with no success. I typically get either a boot loop, or a hard reset to the HTC logo.
Unless people are just lying, CM/Lineage on the Sprint 10 should be possible as I've read many posts claiming so.
I've tried a variety of things including different versions of TWRP from 3.0.3-0 to 3.0.3-6, and multiple Lineage/CM based roms.
One supposition is that my current MM firmware is to blame. I think this may well be the issue; however, I don't know how (if it's even possible) to get my 10 to 2.** firmware, as Sprint has not released this yet.
I just S-Offed my phone, and I'm currently S-Off, Boot Unlocked.
I don't have a Windows computer, but I'm capable of using adb and fastboot. I'm also comfortable using command line tools.
Help!!! Haha, I'm so frustrated with this device!
Thanks in advance!

You need to first flash the firmware for an unlocked device. Then you can RUU back to Sprint and install LOS. @andybones made a custom firmware zip specifically for Sprint to do this.

Hey,
Thanks for your response.... I can't seem to find his Sprint specific zip. He's quite prolific!
I've found what I believe is the us Unlocked:
2PS6IMG_1.80.617.1_R_firmware.zip
Here
Could you either point me to his zip, or could you verify that if I remove all but firmware from this zip, I should be able to accomplish the same task?
Thanks again!

Please read this entire thread. You'll find my detailed guide in Post #3. There are also posts in Page #2 with Sprint user (@mcwups1) that will help you out, and possibly reach out to him about his experience, and if he has any tips for you. He is a good man.

I read the entire post as you recommended, and I believe I now know how to proceed.
Unfortunately, I've ran myself clear out of free time.
I'll give this a go and report back as soon as I get a few free hours again--probably Friday or so.
Thanks a million!
You guys are very welcome.
Please proceed at your own risk (as with any flashing).
I've tried to make the guide I used as clear as possible and will certainly help if anything is unclear, but keep in mind nougat wasn't out at the time it was created. I don't foresee any issues as really the main thing that is making it boot was anyone that had flashed the us unlocked firmware at any point in time, and I believe people are still converting, The guide is really flashing the us unlocked firmware then back to your (Sprint) RUU.
Woot!
This worked. I'm now running los with pico gapps and su.
Thanks all.
For anybody that follows in my path, I'm running arch linux, and the android tools package in extras was all I needed (this was a concern of mine).
I grabbed @andybones' modified vzw zip and simply changed the mid and cid to match my phone in the android text file within.
I then flashed the double modded zip.
Next, I flashed the sprint modified (recovery removed) firmware only ruu.
Los booted fine after this; however, I had no lte. So, I rebooted to boatloader, and erased modems 1 & 2.
Finally!!#?! This has been the most frustrating device I've owned to date, but I'm sitting pretty now.
Thanks again everyone!

Nice! Great to finally see some feedback from a sprint user. Wanted to try this myself before I upgrade to nougat firmware. Only thing I'm confused about is you having to erase modem 1&2. What does that mean?
For clarification I didn't end up on nougat firmware either. Sprint hasn't released that. Just nougat rom with MM firmware.
After flashing only 3G and cell signal work.
I found in another post (can't find to credit) that a possible fix was to erase modemst1 and modemst2.
To do this, reboot to bootloader.
-> adb reboot bootloader
Then use fastboot to erase modemst 1&2
-> fastboot erase modemst1
-> fastboot erase modemst2
-> fastboot reboot
Also, the lines in the android text file that need to be changed should become.

Awesome thanks! Sprint released Nougat OTA yesterday and OMJ extracted firmware that we can flash. Sprint Nougat RUU isn't out yet though waiting for it on HTC's site. Check it out on Sprint HTC 10 XDA dev page. If you flash the firmware and everything still works fine please let me know. Should be trying this if I have time tonight. Have a lot of homework :silly:
I believe there has been a new method found that only involved flashing 1 .img from the US Unlocked firmware that will save a lot of trouble.
If I can find the post I will link it here.

I thought I flashed it from Download mode, but I just tried it, and got the same error. Then I reboot to bootloader, and tried again and it flashed successfully. So you need to do it from bootloader

Hi guys. I have a problem with my M8 (international).
Start topic was here http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...-boots-fastboot-factory-t2952954#post57042833 but I took an advice and open the same topic in general theme.
Hi everyone. I got a problem with my HTC M8.
First of all, I didn't make with it any changes (as unlock bootloader, root or installing any custom OS or recovery etc.) Week ago I left device, connected to PC for all night, and, I gess, with "bad" micro-USB cable.
Next day I couldn't boot this phone. I connected it to charger and after little time it was loaded to fastboot. But up today I can't do anything with phone: I can't unlock it, can't factory reset, can't boot to recovery etc...
I tried to find any same simptomes in google, but found nothing
As you can see on screenshots, I made steps for unlock bootloader but on device I didn't see notification about unlocking.

I'm taking a bit of a guess but some how system has got wipe but that seems a bit off for a locked phone but since it's locked I would take it back to where you got it from and get them to sort it.

I would normally say the same. But the OP mentioned in another thread posted in the wrong forum section (linked in his post) that he bought from Canada but lives in Ukraine, so I think warranty is not valid. It would have been helpful for the OP to give all the relevant details in this new post.
I agree, it looks like his OS and possibly recovery have somehow become wiped, corrupted, or damaged. Not common for a stock device, but not unheard of, either.

Hi
I had a similar problem to you where I was stuck in fastboot mode and the only command it would execute was POWER DOWN and when switched back on it returned to fastboot mode. However I ended up in that state due to making a mistake in trying to unlock and root my phone. Also I believe my display showed the RADIO and OpenDSP details rather than the INVALID_VER_INFO that your's is showing.
I thought I had deleted the rom and recovery on my device and I had bricked my phone however I was able to recover my phone by getting a new unlocktoken from HTC and flashing it.
Once I had successfully unlocked my phone I had access to my rom and recovery.
I see from your first image that you tried to unlock your phone and it shows that 'unlock token check successful' but images 2 and 3 show that the phone is still 'LOCKED' so it may be worth going to the HTC site, get a new unlock token and try again.
If it doesn't work, it shouldn't do anymore harm either!
Best of luck.

Yes, I did this And in consol I saw that everything was fine, but on device I didn't see standart notification about unlocking.
A found some topics about "INVALID_VER_INFO" - and they said that it can be ok for some devices (guys checked this on their worked devices, booted to fastboot and saw the same).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715056 here is the topic about "INVALID...".
btw - I tried unlock phone after another man. He did the same - receive .bin from dev. HTC site etc. I did the same, but from another HTC dev. account and result was the same Phone didn't unlock.
It could be that the recovery has got messed up because I believe recovery is used to do it since unlocking will wipe data. The only things I can think of is a real ruu as in it full rom and firmware exe (good luck with that) or you could try just firmware ruu, riff box or HTC themselves.

Could anyone help with RUU process? What information I should have for correct RUU update? I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173 but I'm not sure that I have SPRINT device.
I need an information, how I can be sure, that I use correct file for RUU my HTC? Is it bootloader version, or operator version (Sprint, Verison etc.) or something else? As I wrote, I can open information about my phone in Fastboot (I can check my SN, CID, bootloader version etc.)

For a ruu to work it needs to have matching cid, guess mid and has to be same version or higher than what's on the phone. You can't flash the wrong one it won't let you.
Edit, also the one you linked to won't work.

Hey everyone,
new here and to rooting/flashing in general.
I've somewhat successfully converted my verizon M8 to work on Tmobile by using weaksauce 2.0 to root, then Sunshine to gain S-off. Flashed TRWP custom recovery with flashify, backed up my stock vzw setup (4.4.4), then flashed ViperoneM8 with tmobile extras to the phone. The phone works great 90% of the time on Tmo, with 4gLTE, mms, sms, wifi all working. But I will get random dropped general mobile service (no data, can't make calls, text won't go through). This is easily fixed with airplane mode toggle.
Sooo, I wanted to see how other roms work on my phone with Tmobile service, specifically ARHD 34.0 and/or change phone to developer edition and upgrade to Lollipop. But both roms require prerequisite upgrading of firmware. My phone won't let me change the firmware via ADB or RUU. I've tried changing to superCID and going back to relocked mode, but still won't work. I get error 155 when attempting to upgrade via RUU and cannot find firmware.zip when using adv/fastboot.
I came across an old thread about other rooted models that suggest upgrading the HBOOT. Can anyone verify this suggestion and guide me toward which specific HBOOT software to change to?
Thanks for the help,
-Ant

If your stock was 4.4.4, your firmware and hboot should be fine to run ARHD. I don't think that WWE firmware (x.xx.401.x) is compatible with T-Mo (x.xx.531.x). The firmware you have now (3.32.531.2?) will be fine.

You shouldn't have wifi issues. ViperOne is building a Lollipop version right now, and 4.4.4 firmware works fine with it.
The ARHD thread does recommend a full wipe with the non-matching firmware/ROM base though.

I was relocked previously trying to update firmware. I completely forgot to unlock it before the ROM flash. I would assume the ROM wouldnt flash though if the phone was relocked. I'm still S-off. Fastboot isn't recognizing the files i want to flash. Won't flash the unlock code. Wouldn't flash a zip file before when trying to update firmware. Can I somehow fix why fastboot isn't flashing files, then try to use unlock code?
possible progress?? I wasn't in the correct file to fastboot flash files. I moved the unlock code download to the correct file as flashboot, then flashed it. It says "unlock token check successfully." but now it seems the phone is stuck in white htc screen. Is it ok to power down the phone when in this screen? maybe loading the software from new ROM?
so I went ahead and powered down the phone. Still S-off. Now has UNLOCKED banner, but behaving the same. Stuck in bootloader loop. Won't allow me to get into recovery

Okay. Being S-Off you don't need to lock your bootloader to flash firmware. But since you were trying to flash Developer Edition firmware, you would have to flash a stock Dev Ed backup first, and change your MID and CID.
Leave your phone plugged into your PC.
Go here and follow the option 2 instructions. You want the APP/EXE version to download. It should fix you up.
where do you people come from..you're a self proclaimed noob who has executed an unsupported carrier switch, which ends up with a half functional device as a result.. and then you decide to crank the up the hilarity to warp drive stupid by flashing ANOTHHER unsupported ROM combination on top.
the random signal dropping is most certainly a result of this conversion as I have a couple of related support tickets saying the same.
you should be thankful that unholy is so patient and willing to help.. and that we know he has nothing better to do

I Got ERROR [130]: Model ID Error
The firmware update utility cannot update your android phone.
Please get the correct Firmware update utility and try again.
I should note that when I got to the prompt to upgrade current firmware to new firmware.....the new firmware was not a sequence of numbers. It looked like random symbols.

where do you people come from..you're a self proclaimed noob who has executed an unsupported carrier switch, which ends up with a half functional device as a result.. and then you decide to crank the up the hilarity to warp drive stupid by flashing ANOTHHER unsupported ROM combination on top.
the random signal dropping is most certainly a result of this conversion as I have a couple of related support tickets saying the same.
you should be thankful that unholy is so patient and willing to help.. and that we know he has nothing better to do

I'm not going to be able to come up with a solution tonight. Sorry. I'm going to have to consult with someone who is more of a firmware expert than I am. And the guy whom I will be talking to is probably just waking up (lives in Germany). I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Crappy, I know.

You probably just have to change your MID back to M8_VZW. There are tutorials on xda. It's 11pm here and I get up at 4:30. I'm tired and need to sleep. Like I said, sorry. I'll give you more help tomorrow if you don't figure it out before hand on your own.

I think you're right. I've tried to search how to change modelid via fastboot since I can't boot the phone to run adb, but all the tutorials seem to be based on using adb. Is their a way to change via fastboot only?
SUCCESS! Well, I was able to reinstall TWRP via the appropriate adb/fastboot commands and flash my nandroid backup.
Unholy, I know you mentioned doing this command, but I did not know I had to put the .img file name within that command....result of being such a noob. You were awesome and I greatly appreciate you help.

Hello everyone!
I would greatly appreciate if someone could show the right way to get my phone fully functional;
SPRINT HTC ONE M8
GSM SIM UNLOCKED for use on GSM networks
S-OFF
Rooted
TWRP
HBOOT 3.18.0.0000
RADIO 1.08.20.0612_4
CID-11111111
software version: 2.16.654.4
android: 4.4.3.
Issue:
1. I can not install any OTA updates, and the notification keeps popping out.
2. Mobile data is just not working properly even though I did everything as said here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-htc-one-m8/general/enabling-3g-umts-countries-t2847461
As I did my research, it was some kind of a major bug on this series of Sprint M8 phones with breakdowns in mobile data. However, since I can not get any updates, the problem perists.
I tried installing custom ROM's, but so far ARHD 22 didn't even boot and LiquidSmooth couldn't detect the SIM card at all.
I know there are quite a few tutorials and "how-to" threads explaining all you need to know about RUU, cusotm ROM's, etc. However if someone could tell me what exactly to do and in which order (return to stock, then update?) I would greatly appreciate it.
Many many thanks!

Easiest way to get it back to stock is just flash the Sprint H/K RUU. You can download it from HERE. Just run it and connect your phone when prompted and follow the instructions (I'd probably change your CID back to the Sprint one first to be on the safe side but as you're S-OFF it shouldn't be needed). You might also need HTC Sync Manager installed. If so, you can get it HERE
This process will wipe the phone completely so back up any data first but other than that you'll at least be back to stock and then troubleshoot any issues from there
Thanks
Many thanks to everyone.
Any chances of loosing the SIM UNLOCK when going back to stock completely?
Nope, that shouldn't be touched but as I've not had a SIM-locked device in years I can't say for certain

Do i need to install a new stock firmware from Sprint with Lolipop to get the 34 runing?

You can or you can go to the Sprint android development and flash the updated recovery since you are s-off and it'll permit you to flash lollipop roms without many issues but there is still the files that need to be modified for ARHD to work correctly like the boot.img and a few others.

Power+vol up for about 15 seconds then power+vol down to get into recovery. You cant flash it unless you swap out Sprint specific files otherwise you'll get what just happened or boot directly into boot loader.
Like I mentioned I can pull the files together and see if I can get it working for Sprint tonight when I get home but until then flash either fluent Rom or stock if you want lollipop or just flash bad boyz if you don't mind kitkat

For me, the biggest issue is the mobile data breakdowns... I know I read somewhere a while ago it was an issue with some Sprint M8 models. I would like to get everything working w/o problems since it is GSM unlocked, and via QPST I unlocked all the bands.

Also, I just found some official EU RUU's with different radio's as far as I can tell from the filename.
Maybe that could be the final solution to all the problems?
Morning all,
Im not S-off and I'm using a pretty dated firmware..
I was told that there is a way to obtain and flash a firmware WITHOUT wiping anything and without too much fuss.
My questions:
What is the COMMAND in CMD?
Where do you find the signed firmware?
How do you identify which one to use?
What does it actually change? As the phone does work on dated firmware, more optimised?
I highly doubt I'm the only one who would benefit from this, once I know the answers I'll leave them here and I'll write a guide on how to install them step by step I'll also link the firmwares do others can help themselves.
Thanks
Currently running: Viper 3.5.0
Firmware: 1.80.401.1
S-ON
Unecrypted.

Have come mate, but I've asked some other things plus there is apparently a way to do it without the use of a tool.
This is the specific thread for firmware update.
I think you can only flash the full stock zip since you are s-on. Do take note that flashing the stock firmware.zip will wipe your internal storage.
The firmware to flash should have matching CID and MID of your device.
To check your mid and cid type this command in cmd while the device is in download mode.
fastboot getvar all

First make a backup. This will wipe your phone.
Then relock your bootloader. In fastboot fastboot oem lock
Download this RUU.zip
Rename the .zip to 2PS6IMG and place it onto your extSD
Boot to download mode and follow the prompts (vol up to flash ~ power button to reboot)
That's it. Super easy.
Delete the renamed .zip from your extSD or else every time you boot to download mode it'll try to update again.
Now unlock your bootloader again with the same bin code that HTC gave you when you first did it, or request a new one. Flash TWRP back onto your phone, then flash SuperSU or a custom ROM to regain root.
This is why I paid $25 for Sunshine.
For S-Off users, you just flash a small firmware package, and that's it. No data loss. No relocking the bootloader. No reflashing recovery. No re-rooting.
It really is worth the price in the amount of time and hassle saved through the lifetime of the phone.

OK so this is where I've heard different.. There apparently isn't any need to return to stock so think you may need to read the originating post yourself mate
Otherwise how would the tool mentioned in the second post work? Appreciate you saying all that but it doesn't help my query.
As for sunshine I completely disagree, I've had every single htc bar two since the G1 and I've had S-off on all of them where available so I know the S-off method well, and have made a lot of donations to developers over the years, I also buy all my apps and support Devs when they deserve it for apps.
In regards to sunshine, I paid for this app for my m9 less than a year ago, I get one license, I can't use this for my 10 and I'll have another phone soon so see little point, they should offer more than one unlock for £25 and the only reason why they've got away with this daylight robbery is because they've monopolised the market, I'm sure I'm not the the only person who's noticed this.
Anyway, I'll wait to hear from someone who knows about the signed firmwares and how to install them. The tool can do it, so there must be a manual way, Id prefer to do that as I've had problems with tools in the past and with firmware you really want to get it right.

But you asked if anyone could give you help, so I offered you a way to do it.
Even if you find a signed firmware.zip, you'll still need to re-lock your bootloader since you are S-On.
You might as well save some time searching and just run the RUU

Actually, I have been following the method of @krassermensch's since before he started a thread about it. He posted to a different firmware thread about the method, and I've been curious about it since. The backup is necessary as the firmware update files overwrite the recovery and the boot partitions...
For starters, I have an AT&T HTC M9. I unlocked the bootloader, and after a while, got TWRP 3.0.2.0 installed as the custom recovery. I decided to flash ARHD, since that's my personal favorite that I've used on my M7 and M8. After flashing and clearing cache, the phone optimizes apps, reboots, and then stays at the HTC screen for a bit. Finally, the screen will turn off as if it's booted in. I could then wake the device and adjust volume and such, but I still had the HTC logo covering what would be the UI. After a bit more time, the setup menu finally came up. I couldn't set up wifi, as it got stuck on the "connecting" screen. Wiped, re-flashed ARHD. Same thing. Finally got through the setup, and I had no service. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to install a corresponding firmware or something? This happens to me every time. Also the M9 had Android 6.0 with Sense 7.0, for the record.

The thread says it's built off of 3.35.401.12, and my phone is running 3.38.502.12. The thread goes on to say "- If your current firmware version doesn't match ROM firmware version, wiping data inside AROMA is highly recommended!" so I figured if I wiped the data inside AROMA it would still work. Am I just dumb?

"For Sense-based roms you just need to re-flash the stock boot image of your current firmware version." I'm now at a loss. I am in way over my head right now. So technically speaking, I'd be able to get ARHD to run on my ATT M9? That quoted sentence gave me an anxiety attack.
Edit: I've got an RUU that I was thinking of using and then just rooting the stock ROM and then going about my day. I'd be ok with that if I knew for a fact that it wouldn't remove TWRP. That and I was looking forward to the ARHD battery life.

Keep calm. All you need to do is downloading the RUU for your current firmware and the decryption tool that is linked in my thread. Drag'n'drop the RUU onto the *.exe file of the tool and wait some minutes. When it's finished it will give you an output folder. Inside you'll find a firmware folder and inside that one you'll find the needed boot image. All you need to do then is booting your phone to download mode and connecting it via USB with your pc. Copy the boot.img into your adb/fastboot folder and use
Code:
fastboot flash boot <enter name of the boot image - including its file extension - here and delete the less/greater symbols>
E.g. if the file is named boot_signed.img the command would be
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
The next time you boot your rom everything should be working, fine.
Edit: Your edit didn't exist when I wrote this post... The RUU will remove TWRP if you flash it. RUUs always reflash the whole phone (in other words: the system and the firmware).

Edit: Your edit didn't exist when I wrote this post... The RUU will remove TWRP if you flash it. RUUs always reflash the whole phone (in other words: the system and the firmware).

It appears that I may have given some misinformation. Looking in the ROM that I had flashed (Official Build ATT 3.38.502.12 ROM 7-12-2016), the firmware appears as (obviously) 3.38.502.12. However, looking in download mode, OS appears to actually be 3.38.502.41. Are the instructions you gave me still pertinent, or do I need to try something else?

In that case you will need the boot image of firmware 3.38.502.41. The correct firmware version of your phone is stated in the download mode. You're lucky since HTC released a RUU for that firmware, as well.
There are two main problems with HTCs website:
a) They only provide RUUs for their US customers. So be happy that you bought a US varaint of the M9.
b) They don't update their website that regularly although the files are already available. Since the URL isn't that complicated you can simply guess the correct one for newer RUUs.

Done deal. So after flashing ARHD and then re-flashing the boot image, I can happily go on my way with a nifty AT&T M9 with ARHD?

Based on my previous experiences with the M9 I'd say yes.

Thank you for preventing me from dying today. I'll see what I can do. Also, I was sitting here, looking at the HTC site, and I found all the ROMs, but for the life of me could not find the right one. That was when I noticed you had linked it to me. Now I'm actually wondering where you're finding these.

On their website. Take a look at the URL of the download for the older 3.38.502.12 RUU you can find there, then take a look at your current firmware. If you now look at the link for the latest RUU I posted you'll understand how I guessed the correct link. It's no magic.

Ok, so I flashed the ROM, (ARHD 20.0, 6.0, Sense 7.0) and then flashed the boot. Phone boots up fine, I now have signal and data, but there is one issue. I have no wifi. Is this...radio-related?
Another edit: I also don't see SuperSU anywhere, and that's confusing me just a bit.

No, the radio/baseband doesn't deal with the WIFI reception. There are other parts of the firmware like the wcnss that are responsible for that. You may want to ask in the dedicated rom thread for further help. I haven't heard of such wifi problems before.
In regard to your edit: I never flashed ARHD. I can't even tell you whether it's using SuperSU or any other superuser app.

Alrighty, so it appears support has ended for ARHD. I'll go ahead and ask in the thread anyway, but out of curiosity, I checked out Viper. Looks like that won't work with AT&T. I'll try out ICE maybe. I need more practice.

Well, you could use viper. You just need to choose default in the aroma installer. But I don't know whether your reception is supported out of the box or not. And since viper 5 is based on a HTC 10 port the boot image trick might not work, either. Viper 4 on the other hand should be working fine in case you need to reflash the boot image since it's based on the latest wwe M9 firmware.

Would you... recommend Viper by chance? I'm trying to weigh my options at this point.

I guess my signature should be sufficent for answering that question.
(And yes, I do know that my firmware and the TWRP version I'm using are outdated. I didn't have the time nor the motiviation that would be needed for updating them. I'll probably just wait until HTC distributes android 7 for my SKU.)

I hope I'm not taking up too much of your personal time from asking such questions, as the thread's original question has been answered. I'm currently looking at how to install 5.3, because it looks like a wonderful ROM to have.

Flash it like any other rom. The aroma installer is actually pretty straight forward. Choose default since there is nor AT&T specific installation.
Just make sure that you read what it wants you to do. Sometimes it asks which apps you want to install and sometimes which you want to uninstall.
