Note 2 sudden problem

This happened a few days ago. So first of all what happened was before I went to sleep my phone rebooted by itself for no reason which I thought that maybe my phone died,But the next morning i woke up to a samsung logo on my phone (not blinking) which I thought was rebooting again, but it wasnt booting into the OS. Im running dirty unicorn 4.4.4 (final ver) and the unicorn booting animation wasnt showing up. Before I try to boot/go into recovery/bootloader there is a red blink ( not too sure if that was always there) and I am able to access my recovery and bootloader. I checked my recovery log and it says the following:
E:unable to find partition size for '/boot' '/recovery' '/modem'
E:unable to mount '/efs' '/cache' '/system' '/data' storage /data/media during GUI startup
E:Failed to get default contexts and file mode for storage files
So seeing this I tried going into my bootloader which I was successfully able to go. Therefore I tried flashing stock through odin and resulted in failing or just freezing. *Had notes about being unable to write
I had this phone for 2 years without any problems and I'm with Rogers. Has anyone else gone through this or know a solution?
A similar thing happened to me recently. The battery was part of the problem I believe (for 2 of my Note 2s), as it wasn't holding a charge properly (this was causing problems from charging, to regular freezes, reboots). Finally, the last time the phone just got stuck on the samsung boot logo. By then, I had my new battery, so I swapped that in - but that didn't fix the problem. I booted into Philz recovery and saw the same error messages as you. I wiped dalvik cache 3 times, factory reset, and reset for installation of new rom (which still gave me the same error messages and something about unable to format E. Despite the error message, I proceeded to reinstall the custom Rom (Ditto Note 3) again from an external SD card. Everything loaded up like normal. SMS, chat records, contacts were all in tact (like a dirty flash). That said my wifi was having issues - so I ended up redoing the aforementioned process (clear cache, factory reset, reset for installation of new rom). This time no messages about the E: location. Installation was fresh and all content was wiped clean. The wifi issue was still occurring - but it turned out I just needed to install the AGNI kernal again.
Good luck

SGH-i317M Rogers Canada ; failed to mount /system[cache/data/..] (No such file or ..)

Hi,
I got a phone from my friend to be fixed as it was just not booting up. The initial boot up screen was coming and going: "Samsung Galaxy Note II".
The phone is from Rogers Canada (unlocked) and the Model is SGH-i317M (Samsung Galaxy Note II)
I tried different things but it is stuck at "E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)" errors. I'm not sure if the error is due to some corrupted memory modules (or) due to some software issue. Also I'm not sure if the issue was caused by me (or) was there from before.
What I've tried is:
1) putting the TWRP (twrp-2.8.7.0-t0ltecan.img) and doing a complete wipe. Tried to install the ROMs but was not possible.
2) Tried to flash stock ROM (I317MVLUDNF3_I317MOYADNF3_RWC.zip) via ODIN ...says PASS! but phone is in the same state.
3) Tried to flash the stock ROM and "Re-partition" using the compatible PIT file found in one of the XDA threads: (i317-i317m-pit-files.zip : i317m.pit) via ODIN...says PASS! but the phone is in the same state.
...also did the (a) wipe data/factory reset (b) wipe cache partition ...during which the same errors { E: failed to mount } are thrown.
I'm not sure what the previous version of Android was on the Note II (or) any other information. I tried to flash it to the latest versions available for that model. From what I read at androidayos /samsung-galaxy-note-2-stock-firmware it says we should flash to the exact same stock firmware otherwise it won't work due to 'secured bootloader'. Should I try flashing now to lower versions of stock ROM and see something works?
Sorry can't post the image of the error but I try to type it out here:

Android system recovery <3e>

Volume up/down to move highlight;

reboot system now
apply update from ADM
apply update from external storage

Revive without loosing data?

My S4 mini went dead (no boot logo, no vibration, screen just stayed dark when trying to switch it on). During normal usage, it froze and after disconnecting the battery, it was stonedead (official Samsung Android 4.4.2 image, not rooted).
It seems, the eMMC was damaged.
Searing "xda forums" I tried a "debrick.img" via SD card boot- but only got "emmc read error".
As last idea I tried "heating" up the eMMC using a SMD soldering station from a friend (trying to "heal" cold soldering joints, which might be caused by thermal and/or physical stress) - and it worked somehow: I got a boot logo, download mode and recovery mode. But still in a bootloop...
So my question is:
Is there any method to restore user data from the flash?
Or flash without destroying user data?
Recovery is still the original samsung...
I guess, flashing a new image via ODIN, would kill all my data...
I'm also curious., if there is any image completely booting from SD card (so I can manually mount the flash partitions).
Any hint is appreciated. Thanks for help in advance!
PS:
Thanks to all for the great information here!
I was really asthonished, that the CPU is trying to boot via SD card...

I'm not able to flash anything...
I tried Odin, adb sideload and sd card
a.) Odin 3.12 (S4 mini download mode):
- AP and CSC mode from official Image (source Sammobile, same version as in "Download Mode" displayed)
- cwm recovery
- twrp recovery
Odin always displays "Passed" (Green), but nothing changed.
e.g. still on old Samsung recovery
b.) adb sideload (Samsung recovery)
- new recovery and complete image
but got error messages:
Verification update package...
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Or
Verification update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file-signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
c.) update from sd card (Samsung recovery)
same error messages...
any ideas?
Worst case would be an defective emmc controller, of course...
But this is a sporty problem who wants to be solved (it's just a kind of curiosity, to get such a problem solved)...
A noob need some hints here... - (tnx for help in advance)

GT-I9195 LTE 8GB (Stock 4.4.2) - Boot loop - Looking for PIT file (8GB)

Hi everyone,
My S4 Mini GT-I9195 LTE 8GB (Stock 4.4.2) became a hard brick after trying to enter Safe Mode (booted while holding volume-down).
This problem I managed to fix by using a debrick.img on a SD Card, which made Download mode possible.
However, after flashing the Stock ROM (I9195XXUCOD3_I9195NEECOD1_NEE) using Odin without errors, the phone goes into a boot loop.
I can enter Recovery mode (Stock) and Download mode without any problems.
When I try to clear the cache, I get the following error:
"E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/cache"
I can still access the cache partition by chosing "Apply update from cache", which makes me think it only got corrupted somehow (and not eMMC failure). When I browse the cache-partition from Recovery, I can see the "lost+found" and "recovery" folders.
My next step to try to fix my phone, is now to recreate the partitions using a PIT-file. I have been using PIT Magic v1.3.10 to check different files for the I9195, but so far all of them seem to be for the 16GB version of the Mini? Since I reflashed with a Stock ROM in Odin (debug mode disabled), I cannot access my phone using ADB (except for "Apply update from ADB").
Hope that someone here can point me in the right direction and hopefully have a PIT-file for the 8GB-version of the Samsung S4 Mini GT-I9195 LTE.
I also have another almost identical S4 Mini with broken recovery ("set warranty bit : recovery"), which I will use as a test subject
Best regards,
Walkir
Below is some information from my phone in Recovery mode:
Android system recovery <3e>
KOT49H.I9195XXUCOD3
# MANUAL MODE #

Applied the CSC-code : NEE
Successfully applied multi-CSC.

E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/
block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/cache
Cache wipe complete.

S4 Mini (GT-I9190) Stucked

Hello there. When i'm rebooting my phone into system, it's vibrating 2 times and model name appears (This loop always continuing). I can access to download mode and recovery mode. I tried installing stock rom via Odin it didn't install, loop continued. I installed CWM 6.0.5.1 but when i format factory reset, system or data it says completed successfully but when i enter into internal storage i can see (my pictures etc.) recovery didn't delete. Also when i'm trying to install custom rom (LineageOS 16) it gives (Status : 7 Error "no file_contexts target" ).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
