Hi! I built AOSP for the Nexus 5X, but it tells me that there is an internal problem with the device, even after flashing proper vendor, and Gapps packages do not apply after flashing.

Currently I'm following this process when I want a super clean flash of a new ROM
- Use Back2Stock script to get stock Motorola Marshmallow
- Flash TWRP
- Flash ROM
- Flash GAPPS
I keep coming back to these steps for one major reason : TWRP will not let me format or erase the DATA or INTERNAL STORAGE partition. This means that if I keep flashing different ROMs through TWRP, there will be junk data piling up in the DATA or INTERNAL STORAGE. But I digress..
I want to know if encryption is removed automatically when I flash custom rom like AOKP or RRemix? Does it depend on the ROM? Or should be including that RemoveForceEnc.zip in my steps?
Apparently those steps also cause my to not have root in my custom ROM.
The new steps I'm running now :
- Use Back2Stock script to get stock Motorola Marshmallow
- Flash TWRP
- Flash Fixed Firmware (marshmallow version)
- Flash SuperSU v2.79-SR3
- Flash ROM
- Flash OpenGAPPS (ARM version)
I'm no expert, but as far as I know you can only encrypt your data partition again from within Android Settings > Security. It won't be automatically encrypted again by simply flashing a new custom ROM.
Perhaps it could encrypt it when you flash stock, which is actually something I'd like to confirm because I removed encryption on my Z Play yesterday and am currently running LOS, so if I eventually flash stock again I wonder if it will automatically encrypt my data partition back.... I'm guessing no, but it's something I'd like to confirm (and/or try later on).
I don't have you TWRP problem, meaning I can format everything on my TWRP (if I go to advanced format I can select all options there and have everything wiped), but I usually simply do wipes on TWRP, then flash ROM, then Gapps, then boot, then install Magisk Manager (from Play store) and root from there.
Confirmed. When you flash stock you're re-encrypted (sad).
I updated LineageOS from 13.0-20170527-nightly-mondrianwifi to 13.0-20170603-nightly-mondrianwifi on my Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 8.4.
Everything worked well to download and install the new version.
But Gapps disappeared and I had to reinstall it. And of course, build my home screens again. Do I do something wrong or is it normal for updating this OS?
I am new to LineageOS so I have no previous experience.
It depends. You did a "clean install", wiping system, data - which is usually the safe way.
If the upgrade is minor (as in your case...) - no need to wipe system. Just install it (no need to reinstall gapps) and wipe cache, dalvik.
Hello everyone,
I have flashed and dirty flashed, installed twrp and others for years for my different phones. But this Oneplus 3 seems different.
I flashed TWRP 3.1.1-0 to it and then LineageOS official 2017-05-something, after that the Magisk 13.0 and then OpenGapps aroma. This was done with a full phone wipe (system, data, dalvik cache, internal storage, cache).
But, afterwards I noticed that whenever I installed an updated build of LineageOS, or ANY other zip, the system would act as if a full factory reset was performed! This never happened before with Cyanogenmod or any of my previous phones.
This makes updating LineageOS super tedious - as after EVERY nightly I update I have to log into my Google account, install Titanium backup and restore all apps and their settings.
Could anyone give me a hint on whether I have missed something in moving my flashing habits from Cyanogenmod to LineageOS era?
There were reports, that the official TWRP has some problems and wipes data, when installing a zip.
I think this is the issue with TWRP.
Install the unofficial build from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on.../recovery-official-twrp-oneplus-3-3t-t3543391
or use TWRP from blu_spark here:

Well - this explains everything! Thank you so much cl0g for this hint!
So I recently installed bootleggers 3.5 PIE and facebook and other app notifications don't work reliably. Interestingly I had a similar problem on my moto g running lineage os. So this could be due to my flashing process. I do have a miui backup I can rollback to if needed. I do have magisk installed but this shouldn't make a difference. I am also not running a custom kernel but am using adoptable storage. I have wiped system data cache vendor dalvik then installed bootleggers gapps reboot and setup then installed magisk. Could magiskhide be conflicting
Hi all, I think I needed to bring this issue up. I tried to install android pie ROMs lately and I faced this problem of camera. In all the ROMs, specifically the camera app along with flash light did not work. So far I have followed the instructions carefully in all the ROM threads and tried the following ROMs
1. Pixel Experience 9.0.0
2. Lineage OS 9.0.0
3. SereinOS 9.0.0
4. MSM Xtended XP4 9.0.0
5. ARROWOS 9.x
6. SUPERIOR OS FOR MI MAX
7. BootleggersROM 4.0 Stable 9.0.0
8. AOSPEXTENDED ROM V6.1
Then, I tried clearing data and cache of camera app. I tried wiping data and cache/dalvik in twrp. Then I thought I messed up some firmware partition or something and so, I flashed Xiaomi MIUI fastboot ROM to restore all the partitions and then I tried to flash a couple of PIE ROMs again. But still yielded the same result.
I am wondering why I am facing this specific issue in all the PIE ROMs. Am I missing anything?
I even tried installing HAL3 zips even though none of the threads said I should. But still, It did not work.
So, no matter what I try, I end up with "Sorry, this app can't open." and also the flashlight in the status toggles is grayed out.
Kindly can someone help me figure out some way to solve this problem? Many Thanks.
Device : MI Max Hydrogen
Since you have tried everything and still didn't work, so I have a suggestion for you, but I did not guarantee whether it will work or not and one more thing I'm not responsible if anything happens to your device. Do this at your own risk. First backup internal storage to your pc or flash drives, then go to twrp and wipe everything including internal storage, then flash rom (up to you) and gapps (nano) reboot, when device boot up, just skip everything and once again reboot to twrp and do a format data, to do this choose wipe and format data, type yes, enter. After that make a full wipe again but this time don't wipe internal storage, when finished, flash rom and gapps then reboot. See if it works, hope it helps you.
i also face the same issue.
