Hi and sorry if my question has already been answered.
I have a rooted htc one m8 (team-s rom) and my device is S-ON.
I want to return back to stock rom. I do not care about the boot warning message and I do not care not loosing root. I just want to install the official Rom and maybe keep it rooted. Is that possible?
you have tow options
1-flash RUU if it's available for your device variant
2-restore stock backup from this thread ( read all the first 5 posts ) http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
if you don't know how to choose the right files, post the result of fastboot getvar all ( after removing serialno and imei )
P.S if you will restore a backup ( or flash another rom ) you need to flash the firmware first since s.rom modified the adsp.img you will have issues with audio on all roms excep s.rom

Hey Guys,
I am basically in a situation where I have a HTC One X (Singapore), and accidentally deleted my nandroid backup. I have tried installing multiple ROMs without success.
e.g.
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_HK_1.26.708.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251215_signed.exe
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_TW_1.26.709.3_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251853_signed.exe
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.26.707.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251281_signed.exe
I however have access to another HTC One X from the same region, and know that other people are looking for the ROM as well. Is it possible for me to somehow backup the ROM that is currently on the device, in order to install it on another device?

No, MD5 sum will mismatch.
You are supposed to flash back stock recovery in fastboot, relock the bootloader, and then you are able to flash an RUU.
Thanks, I did what you said, and it worked with the following ROM:
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.26.707.2_Radi o_1.1204.90.13_release_251281_signed.exe

If you want to flash back stock, relock your bootloader, flash back stock recovery and download your corresponding stock RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604
Stock Recoveries:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819
It says "Link for 1.26 stock recovery" or "Link for 1.28 stock recovery", use those according to your device.
hie i have TWRP 2.14 i think on my one x international unlocked i rooted it but i dont have custom ROM, i tried to install Custom ROM but it keeps failing an i got a OTA update for my phone but i cant install it too coz of this TWRP. How can i remove the TWRP so that i can install the OTA
Try flashing newer version 2.5 I think, its in original dev thread.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
On what base are you ?
Fastboot getvar version-main
Give the output number. And did you only root your stock rom, or is it tampered with ? Like deleting system apps ans so on ?

ok my problem is i'm stuck i can't update my firmware and because of that i can't flash the latest ROMs ...everything was easy for me when i was on M7 i able to S-off and update my firmware easily
but now every thread i enter the first rule is YOU SHOULD BE S-OFF!
i tried this guide [GUIDE] How to add root access & and keep official OTA updates | 3.28.401.7
but my screen won't pass the first HTC logo boot even though i can hear second logo boot sound and even my phone will enter system normally but my screen will be stuck on first boot logo
and now nothing else i can do i receive OTA update but i can't do anything with it...
so please tell me if there is any other way to update my firmware ... and i know there is Sunshine method to S-off but man 24$ is too much i can't pay that at the moment
hope to see some answers soon

For your software version 1.54.401.5 (provided that is your current firmware, means you do have the Intl EU WWE CID), you don't really need S-Off
So... first confirm your what your CID is. If it is EU WWE then ....
Your options :
1. Restore stock ROM 1.54.401.5 then install the matching stock recovery then do multiple OTA up to 3.28.401.6 or 3.28.401.7 whichever is available for your CID. Then reflash custom recovery then you can flash any latest custom Sense ROM that you want. (In any case, you don't need to relock bootloader)
Check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
2. relock bootloader then flash in RUU mode the untouched higher version firmware. But you may need to flash many firmware step by step to follow the increase firmware no. and it's not easy to find all the related untouched firmware and this is a bit complicated for newbies so I suggest you go to option 1.

Hello guys, does anyone have a 3.29.166.9 twrp backup? Or a m8 with cid-vodap110 so he or she can make a fresh nandroid backup so i can go back to stock. I tried x.x.161.x backups but they don't work with cid-vodap110. Vodap110 is specific cid for Swisscom ch. Thanks in advance
No one has it?
Why don't you contact the other guy that already updated to 4.xx.166.x
Ask him for system part only. Then you can use it to update by flashing firmware first.
(I have the firmware but no backup)
Are you running a rooted/modified stock ROM now ? If yes, you can backup that and upload for me.. I will try to fix the error.
If you're running a custom ROM, you can flash the updated firmware and then install a lollipop custom ROM ... this can be done too.

I'm running a 4.16.401.10 stock firmware, and it works great even if it's not for my cid,but i would like to have official ota and for that i need stock firmware. I contacted many users with .166 firmwares but no one want's to make a backup :/
You don't run 4.16.401.10 stock firmware but you run a stock 4.16.410.10 ROM.
You can flash your stock firmware 4.19.166.2 then run 4.16.401.10 .. at least you can have a lollipop firmware running a lollipop software.

Yes,you are right i just restored a nandroid backup that i found here on xda. My firmware is probably 3.29.166.9 because when i enter bootloader is says OS-3.29.166.9
Need to totally factory start my HTC ONE M8
Hi guys, i really hope you can help me here.
I have a HTC ONE M8. It is a UK version on EE carrier. the CID is ORANG001. in fast boot it is blank next to OS- (don't know if tyhat matters at this point) I have S-Off through SUNSHINE. I have no oringinal back up. I have tried flashing the recovery found in my OTA updtate and several others that say they should work in various other threads, all through ADB Fastboot says it sends and writes ok but has no effect.
I have unrooted, factory booted, and am at the end of my tether. EE will not replace the handset if it is tampered and i really dont want to have to pay for a totally new one.
can i install roms and just flash boot.img afterwards and have it work with S-ON or is S-OFF mandatory i remember last HTC i romed was Htc one X and that one worked just fine and S-OFF wasnt even available for it so rom+boot.img flash was the only choice
to put simply can i flash rom with unlocked bootloader
and flash boot.img afterwards or will that mess up my phone dont want to risk it as if it wont looking for RUU for M8 is a nightmare as unlike lg or samsung you cant use any RUU
No need S-Off and no need to flash boot.img
You just need unlocked bootloader, correct version TWRP for your current firmware and custom ROM.zip to install
Most important is your device firmware must be on Marshmallow firmware to install current custom ROMs either Masrhmallow or Nougat.

Flashing boot.img after the ROM won't mess anything up, it's just redundant; since for this phone TWRP will flash boot.img along with the ROM (whether s-on or s-off).
Not all M8 versions have RUU, but if you give details about the phone, we can probably tell you if there is one. Do fastboot getvar all, and post the output (delete IMEI and serial number before posting). This will also allow us to tell you if the firmware needs to be updated, etc.
Not that you would necessarily even need an RUU. For this phone, if something goes wrong flashing a ROM, you have plenty of options. Make sure you make a TWRP backup of your current ROM (will allow you to easily revert if you have problems), plus there is an awesome stock TWRP backup collection maintained by the guy who responded above, @ckpv5.
