After switching from 7.1.2 beta to 7.1.1 stable I keep getting 'android.process.media has stopped' error whenever i try to use any media related apps or when i try to share images in Whatsapp and it crashes that app too. I've had tried everything from clearing data of Media storage, download manager, google play services, google framework, google play store to Factory reset, flashing factory images, applying rescue OTA. None of them worked and I still keep getting those errors.
Does this means that there's something wrong with the Flash memory. I am just tired of getting this phone repaired again and again. I already had two repairs in last 5 months. One time they replaced the Display because of dead pixels and last month (January 2017) they replaced the motherboard. Now, I've switched to another phone as this phone has became so unreliable to use anymore.
Update 1: I just used my another device(Oneplus One) which is on LineageOS and it is showing the same behaviour. android.process.media force closes with apps like Xender (when connecting to PC), WhatsApp (when scrolling through images u want to send).
Update 2: It seems there was some corrupted Image file which was causing that error. Now, everything is fine.
PS: Mods can now close this thread. Thanks!

I've been having a very odd bug that started to occur today.
Whenever I restart my phone, battery pull, or turn it off and on it resets to Jan 1st at 7:00pm. Some apps are not working, including BBM (msgs don't attempt to send), Snapchat (gives me a "Google Play not supported by device" notification), and Google Play (no connection error).
Because my phone is "in the past", whenever I send or receive texts they do not appear on the message log due to their time stamps being in the future (I assume so).
What should I do? Should I wipe and re-root. I'm running Liquid Smooth JB 4.2 ROM and have been for nearly 6 months for no issues. I wouldn't expect it to be the ROM.
Another thing, If I do wipe and re-root, how would I completely wipe everything minus the core things? Let me elaborate: I've been having a problem caused by CWM where it is creating multiple "0" folders (which are created to store all the files every time I install a new ROM). I think it's at about 7 files deep now due to switching ROMs daily about 6 months ago. This leads to a very messy internal SD with files all over the place. How would I fix this so it goes back to the normal file structure, pre-root? Do I have to go delete the files by hand on via my PC?
Another thing, what method is recommended to save my People contacts, messages, app data, etc (preferably on an external back up: PC or external SD)?
Thanks in advance!
Hey guys,
After the latest update, I have been getting Google sync error, and then there's the play store error where I cannot download apps.
Sync and app downloads happen at their own time and have tried from clearing playstore services cache to resetting the phone to factory settings.
Hard reset works but the issue returns. Does anyone else have this issue? Please do comment
Update: Tapzo was the culprit app, deleted it and cleared the cache. Restarted the phone and everything works fine.
Check for high ad serving and invasive apps, delete them one by one, cleaning play store cache and restarting the phone each time. Once the app that's causing issues is deleted everything should work fine.
Huawei might fix this in an update if all of us effected complain.
With L09 -B432-C183 I have the problem synonymous. Despite new installation and factory reset
Deleted Tapzo and cleaned cache off of play store and play services. Everything seems to be working including google sync(manual) and app updates and downloads, but still under observation.
delete apps that have more ads and seek more access to your information ie., gallery, contacts etc.... delete one by one and each time clear cache and restart, some app will be causing the problem and once you find that app everything will be back to normal
This might help:
Go to settings - Advance settings - Backup and Reset- Network settings reset
Should resume downloads.
I had similar issue. Truecaller app was an issue. Uninstalling and rebooting helps but issue will be back as soon as I install Truecaller app.
Temporary solution after lots of logs sent to R&D team.
Go to Settings- battery - lock screen clean up.
Untick all apps (Close all option must be greyed out).
Switch on Airplane Mode for 15 seconds . Turn it off.
Turn on WiFi and downloads should resume automatically .
Have you tried clearing the Cache files in the internal Storage and rebooting your device?
Only if I had seen this earlier.
I have been having this for a long time. Lost a bunch of pictures after doing a hard resets.
Finally this heped. Thanks!
If you use Truecaller either uninstall it or give all permission and also secondary app launch, trust app etc.
Once you download anything from olay store if it gets stuck, just open Truecaller and play store will start downloading.

Since doing a clean install of 8.1 from the factory images, I've had a few hiccups with syncing, most notably Contacts. Tonight I noticed when I opened my Docs and Sheets app that I was getting a today notification that "Error retrieving additional items."
After resorting to uninstalling the apps now I can't see my files (they're still there when I check on my desktop) and the apps think I'm offline.
I can't get either app to correctly load. Anybody else experiencing this?
I just loaded the final 8.1 release, replacing the DP2 version and I have the same problem. Drive seems fine though until I try opening a Doc or Sheet then both fail like they are offline. I did not do a clean install but instead flashed the image without the wipe option in the flashall script, so that's a difference here. It's late so I won't investigate further tonight but if I find anything further I'll gladly share.
BTW, looks like Google updated both apps within last few hours. After updated apps, I no longer have this issue.
I got a nasty bit of adware from the internet--clicked a banner by mistake. Now I get popups telling me my SIM card is 58% infected, etc, and it wants to redirect me to download some app to remove it, etc. I never downloaded their app, but the persistent popups need to go.
I've tried running ~5 anti-virus/anti adware apps, none of which can even identify a suspicious program. I've done factory resets, which seem to fix the issue for 2 weeks, but then the popups recur. I figured it was either somewhere deep in my phone that didn't get erased with a factory reset, or it was being synced to my phone from my linked google account (I use project FI, and have to have a google account linked to the phone to have service).
So most recently, I installed TWRP, and wiped everything (cache, dalvik, data, system...completely removed the OS). While the phone was in that state, I used my laptop and cleared all my google sync data, removed all stored google data, and reset all settings to default. I then reinstalled stock Bullhead Oreo 8.1 over a USB. However, it again worked fine for 2 weeks before popups returned.
Is there some deep recess in my phone that I am not effectively deleting? Could it be syncing over my google account somehow (I don't have this problem on any other device with my google account on it)? Could it actually be my SIM card that infected?
I appreciate your help!
It's possible for a Sim card to get malware, but I haven't heard of anything specific. Are you restoring apps from Google? And if so, are there any sketchy apps you're restoring? Those are the only two areas I can think of where malware could be coming from. A complete os restore with the factory image should remove any malware. I'd get a new SIM card from your carrier, then restore the firmware. Use the flash-all batch file in the factory image.

Thanks for the reply. I don't restore apps as best as I can tell. When I reset the phone I select the option that says "start from scratch" or something like that, and at every choice during setup I choose to not import anything. I do have to link the phone to my google account for my Project Fi service, which does sync my contacts, so possibly something something gets transferred that way? Like I mentioned above, I've scrubbed my google data every way I could find.
I don't have any risky apps, just standard ones from the play store (outlook, pandora, etc). No risky online websurfing, just the one banner I clicked some months ago. I even rooted my phone not too long ago and used the ES File Explorer to try and find suspicious looking files, but didn't find anything. Phone is no longer rooted since flashing factory image recently.
My phone even had the bootlooper issue common to Nexus 5Xs, and I sent it to LG for free repair. They replaced some hardware (not exactly sure what), but still had the popup problem occur 2 weeks later. Bootlooping was fixed though.
I talked to Project Fi about a SIM card. They weren't keen on sending me a new one, but I'll try them again.
Hello everybody,
maybe one of you can give me a hint where this problems might come from and how to fix:
I have installed LimeageOS 18.1 on my Fairphone 3+ successfully (incl. OpenGApps & Magisk) and in the beginning I was able to install some apps (e.g. WhatsApp) from my old phone (using "adb install <appName>.apk" as well as transfering the data structure(s) from the old phone to the new Fairphone (incl. fixing permissions, etc.).
The next time I wanted to continue this and install further apps from my old phone, this is blocked by the Fairphone (Signature failure). I was able to solve this by disabling the app checking when installing is done from/by adb. But the installed apps crash every time I try to start these. When I install these by the PlayStore these work. Previously I definitely was able to install apps without deactivating the security check in the system settings and these were working!
Furthermore, I had successfully installed and used WhatsApp as described previously. But: some day, BEFORE I started to install further apps using adb, WhatsApp started refusing to show the status pictures/videos as well as refuses to download pictures send to me (message: file not found on sd-card). But I still can upload pictures.
Between initial setup and installation of some apps, I've done nothing special except inserting an SD card and formatting as extension of the internal memory. At least I don't remember more...
Has anybody an idea what might have happened and how I could make things working without a full re-installation?
Any hint is welcome!
Regards,
Markus
