File based encryption and periodic freezing - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone running FBE on android nougat? If so, are you having any issues with the phone freezing and being unresponsive. I'm on the most recent beta 7.1.2. However, I was having the issue when using fbe on 7.1.1 as well. I'm probably going to go back to FDE unless someone else isn't having any issues.

I'm using FBE on 7.1.1 (February build). No issues here -- have been using FBE since it first became available.

Helium Kernel

hi all,
is there a kernel for the Mi Max Pro (Helium) with the patch applied necessary to bypass SafetyNet? Im currently on the xiaomi.eu Nougat rom and from what i read the only way to bypass the january patch level is a patched kernel.
You can stay on older MIUI or even CM14 released before January update. There is no workaround at the moment afaik.

Hi,
I have the original rom 6.0.1 but it is unlocked with TWRP..., notification appeared to update to Nougat and the system restarted and went to TWRP.
Can I install over the current rom the file I just download via TWRP? (https://android.googleapis.com/packa...3e21e543c0.zip)
Thanks

AFAIK, you could NOT do it with custom recovery. It will brick your device.
Official download link/instructions @ razer's site now. h ttps://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?threads/robin-factory-images-and-usb-driver.21487/
This update has been really bad on all of my Robins. I've taken them all back to the last 6 build.
My issues experienced on four different robins:
Would not connect to LTE.
Random reboots.
Freezing and then reboots.
Phones would get extremely hot.

If this is true then I will not do the update (Nougat) until I check more reports about the same or the opposite.
I'll wait...!
I've been running the Nougat beta without issues for the last couple months. Now I'm on official 7.1.1 Beta and it's quite nice. No random reboots, no issue with LTE on T-mobile. Heat and the Snapdragon 808 basically go hand in hand though lol. I'm running Ghostpepper Interactive CPU profile and everything is even smoothier than stock lol.

I've only had my Robin for a few weeks, but I've definitely noticed 7.0 being buggy (at least in comparison to my previous Nexus 6P...) Glad to read about a beta for the Robin though. I may take a look at that before resorting to flashing a ROM like Lineage.

Beta builds are also buggy and laggy.
Lineage builds are buggy as hell and no longer maintained until the bugs are fixed.
I can recommend Omni.

Today I have received an update from Nextbit from Anroid 7.0 to Android 7.1.1 (I am not on beta channels or custom roms). Size was 540-560 MB. I did not notice change logs as I was excited to see the update suddenly. Android Security patch: April 2017

Any new features or updated stock apps?
Any idea if this is last official update?
Any beta testing going on?

Are old ROMS okay to use?

Hello. Recently I thought some sort of security issue came up with the pixel 2xl, and you had to be on the latest security patch to be safe. Are old ROMs that don't have this new security update vulnerable?
Not updated rom have security issues.

Just saw this, but obvious answer is obvious. If you need the latest security patch to be safe, then old ROMs without the latest security patch aren't safe to use. They are therefore vulnerable.

any chance of getting lineage os official support

support for lineage os
How are we supposed to know?
LineageOS dev(s) got the 7T Pro. So you'll have to wait until someone with 7T builds it, but then it probably won't be official.

What decryption problem? in OOS 10/11?
TWRP is fully supported on Android 10, so if someone were to build it they would have done it by now

The encryption is still borked? That's also not always the case when I had daisey it was very slow dev wise but sped up over time

1+ implemented the 7T encryption in a nonstandard method. The usual encryption/decryption methods TWRP uses on Android builds doesn't work on the 7T (does on the other models)

But after the encryption fix from qualcomm, will it still be"borked"?
I've been wondering this since they announced it. Just holding onto a tiny bit of hope.

It depends wether what they did was on a hardware level or not. They could be creating some dirty workaround that only 'works for them' like now.
I've given up.... To bad, in enjoy this device for my needs. But bought it cause I figured out was gonna be a developers dream device here. Oh well, may be OOS11 will finally allow TWRP (if the developer even can/will/cares to provide a TWRP update if required. Would like to have the 1+ one to check out the unofficial 17 and 18 lineage builds. Thank you.

My gut feeling is that the solution will end up being a write to the chip to change encryption, wiping currently encrypted data, and a clean install of Android/OOS 11.
You are killing all my optimism lol

TWRP 3.5.1 Supports Android 11

I noticed a few days ago that a new version of TWRP that supports Android 11 is available for a lot of popular phones including the Pixel 3a. I was wondering if anyone has tried installing and using this version of TWRP yet. If you have, did you have any issues installing and using it?
TWRP 3.5.1
Tried it already, and got an error. However I am on A10. This was a mini update before A11 support. Read here.

Using 3.5.1_9 on LG V20. Any idea why it seems to think that the year is 2067? I thought the flux capacitor in my DeLorean was broken.
is there android 11 support yet?
They would have to figure out the A/B partition thing.
That was the issue a year ago, at least.

I really enjoyed using TWRP on older android versions but sadly, I don't think the A/B partition issue will be resolved.
Hey, a working TWRP for A11 on Sargo has been created by @Captain_Throwback on the Sargo/Bonito Telegram group. Should be available soon.

No, I updated to Android 12 in November before TWRP 3.6 was released.
I was able to boot 3.6.0 with android 12 installed, BUT /data failed decryption, so I'm guessing needs a12 encryption update. I did not try to install it, just fastboot the image.
This is the first time I tried TWRP on the 3a, as I upgraded to a10 immediately after getting the phone two years ago.
Google Pixel 3A is Stuck in Bootloader & OEM is Unlocked while performing software Update.
please help installing TWRP with ADB unauthorized.
Any update on this? I'd like to use TWRP and flash Lineage 18 (Android 11)
