is there an option, on some app, mod, ROM that i can reduce the sensitivitiy of the microphone itself so that my baby(note2) can record music on a reduced level so that kicks and snares on a drum dont pop out, click on the speakers?????
... i use it for info recording ideas of my garage band... nothing serious, i dont need to be perfect, just one the sound of each instrument to be recognizable, so we can develop the music idea that we recorded later...
i used to do it on the iP4 and it had better recording capabilities in the native recorder that comes with iOS , there were no such problems of that kind...
thats about ONLY thing i resent on my gt n7100 ... :crying:
anyone??
here are the recordings with iphone 4 and galaxy note 2 in the same booth, room that we are practicing... the sound difference is unrealistic... its like galaxy note is some cheap crap ... it has better bass recognition but overall ip4 wins easily...

I've been looking for the opposite, in my case the problem is that I need more sensitivity. I've been looking for kernels and apps and so far I've just found one kernel that implements microphone gain tweaking via four modes of operation:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000328
I have to say that I tried it but had no luck, the mentioned modes didn't work. Switching modes only made it more unresponsive, to the point that i had to yell to get heard.
I'll be watching that thread for the next version. Maybe it works for you.
BTW I'm on 4.1.2 stock.
tnx 4 the reply man eventhough it was not heplful, but tnx!
im on 4.1.1, stock, and i cant belive that there is kno one here that can write some information with sense about this, im not expecting someone to solve this out, just to say is there is something like that in development or maybe it already exists. This forum is full of genius people but no one can help me...cant believe it...
I advise you to stay in tune with that NEAK kernel I posted about above. One of the mic operation modes is intended for very noisy places like concerts, so it seems to fit on your purpose of recording with your band.
I can't post outside links due to my poor post history. Google for "uNEAKWolfsonAudioControl" Have a look at that info. It's the audio tweaks included in that kernel. I insist it might help you once the bugs in kernel get solved (hopefully next version).
Cheers

Did you try RecForge from Playstore? I think i tried it to my old smartphone that had bad microphone quality and its recording was really good.Test it and give me a reply just to know if i helped you.
i tried that app and it also is not helpfull in my problem...

Neak kernel new version just released. Mic modes still not working. I can't post on development threads, but I'll keep on watching that kernel development and inform you if I succeed.

I'm using the "[ROM] [T210R/T210] KidzRom by gr8nole". Is it somehow possible to turn off the background music in the kids-launcher(where the Dog is sitting on the App-cards)? Is there a file to edit? Where is the location of the soundfile?
I know where to adjust the volume, but if you raise the volume in an app, its annoying when you close the app or wake the tablet later in a silent environment.
@gr8nole
Thanks for your work. The Kids enjoy your rom very much.

Hey everybody, I just made some Headphone volume boost scripts, all are tested and work, though some may damage your hardware.(Continue reading)
These are flashable zip files that will work on any recovery.
They range in digital volume from 62-68 for now. And range from 19-20 in digital volume. (63/19 only)
They are safe to flash for the most part, but values above 65 for digital volume MAY damage hardware.
How to install:
Download and flash in CWM, TWRP, or Philz
Downloads: Below
-Slight boost, choose 62/20, 63/19, 63/20, or 64/20
-Medium boost, choose 65/20- Some devices may clip at high volume.
-High boost, choose 66/20- Some devices may clip at high volume.
-Experimental Extreme boost, choose 67/20 or 68/20- use with caution! May damage hardware.
I would recommend 63/19 for iPhone like sound. Or 64/20 for loud sound, without distortion.
Aosp earpiece boost and stock earpiece was removed, they didn't work correctly, use new earpiece and Bluetooth boost!
Remember:
I am not responsible if your phone explodes, creates a nuclear weapon, makes your ears bleed, or if it stops working.
If you say I broke your phone, I will laugh at you. Please advise!
Bugs: None reported... Yet.
Please tell me if anything is wrong!
Thanks,
willi_3609
P.S. this is working best on KK Roms. And new Earpiece and Bluetooth boost are out!!!
Thanks to iXNyNe for the base files!

I believe the handset speaker uses rx1 so using the headphone zip should also set the handset volume.

Just put them up, they use rx7 not rx1, I wish it were that easy, I've been trying to find a way to boost the earpiece volume, for making calls. Its hard.

was looking for this a long time ago.. i flashed 2 files yesterday from some1 who posted other volume boosts as well but having a more wide option available is amazing....
If i an not mistaken , we can flash multiple files one after the other, correct ?
example.. i want to boost Head phone and speaker .. so flash Headphone6520.zip followed by Speaker66.zip ? or would Speaker66.zip overwrite Headphone.zip changes ?
As i understand it both files just modify Mixer_paths.Xml, so multiple flashes would just be overwriting the same file?
Thanks for the mod !
You can use both.

It just modifies them, you can flash both speaker and headphone, no need to wipe anything either!
Can anybody test somethibg out for me.
I need somebody with an AOSP based ROM to test my Earpiece zip. That would be great, ui need to know if it works on the D80x models
It should boost earpiece volume as that is the only lower value, but I would be thankful to have someone test it and report back to me. Thanks.
@willi_3609 Thanks for this..
i ve flashed some of them.. it works fine with cable headphone but bluetooth headphone is not as loud as cable headphones..
Would be much better if bluetooth headphones could sound like same as cable headphones
Thanks!

Answer: Its actually not about kernel.. But yes. It can help..
I ve tried many rome and mods .. Its definitely changeable.. Last time i ve tried sony walkman on my g2 (cloudy g3 rom) was the best sound with bluetooth.. It was as loud as cable..
but cloudy's rom wasn't good enough.. (heating) therefor i had to change it..
So one thing i m sure is bluetooth sounds can be changed..
Cm integration
Hey OP can you look at possibly getting this working with cm11. I know there are other mods that say they help with those volume issues but I've yet to find one that gives stock like or close to stock results. Thanks!
it already works.

It just edits a file already present in the Roms.
I love my tab S and maybe this is the best screen I've seen my whole life.
But one thing bothers me that, I've been using the s and note devices from past 3 years, one thing I always did was Boost the sound for Speaker and the Headphone in the Mixer paths xml file.
I've searched this tab for a similar file and have got absolutely nothing.
Any good developer please help me out, if you can find that for it would be a great help

You could install my ROM and use the DSP manager, it also uses mixerpaths though a more serious answer is look at the comments it should point u in the right direction.

you can edit default_gain in system/etc
I thought xml edit only applied to CM/AOSP/GPe roms.

I've attached some screen shots to what you need to modify to increase your external speakers along with headphones.
You'll need Root Explorer or equivalent.
Let me know if it helped.
It's best to raise the digital volume it sounds less distorted ...my setting are +12 to all digital volumes and sounds great
Just to to clarify, you only need to raise the digital volume? I'm going to give it a shot.

I have tried that and multiple others. Some work well, some dont.
None have given me what I am looking for which it the ability to boost things like system volume, notification volume, etc. Still looking for a way to do that.
The best that I can accomplish is boosting media volume via a music or video player. If that is all you are looking for then the equalizer and bass booster will work fine.
Just curious if someone has developed something that works with V4A, and increases the volume output of the headphone jack?
I have been able to do this with my old phone, an S3 with the Boeffla kernel installed...I dont think the Boeffla can be installed on the ZF2 but there may be other kernels that offer the option of enhancing the volume....

What headphones are you using? I'm using Viper and depending on my settings, I can make a $8 pair of Panasonic earbuds sound like they cost hundreds. I use various SOL Republic over ear and ear buds that sound incredible without any distortion. I can give you some settings ideas if you'd like. When using Viper also, I find you get better results if you leave the ASUS Audio Wizard enabled and set to Music Mode
I'm using Aurisonics Forte IEMs. The bass, when it hits, tends to drown out, or fade the mids and highs. I'll try turning on music mode, I've got it off right now.
*edit* Okay, don't like music mode on with Viper. Adds a weird echo effect. I did figure out I was using the gain wrong, so I've made that adjustment. Have to give it more of a listen, but it's better.
Well, I went to poweranpapp.com, and downloaded the Intel version of the app. Supposed to savethe battery life, and improve sound. Not bad, but I still wish the phone was louder.
Just edit your mixerpaths.xml file for louder output on your headphone , save and reboot.

The phone has terrible volume. It has nothing to do with the headphones. On my old s3 a volume booster app was all I needed. Now, with this zen2 551kl I'm searching for the ability to boost gain. I've unlocked boot loader and rooted and then tried viper but it failed to apply patch/plugin/driver.
