Kodi for Tab 3 7.0? [RESOLVED] - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone have Kodi working properly on the tab 3 7.0?
I think it works okay on tab 3 10 but can't find info about 7.0.
Am researching for a friend.

So Kodi does or doesn't work on tab 3 7.0?
Does anyone have experience?
His tab is running 4.4.2 which is supposedly compatible with Kodi.
But when installing, it says it's not compatible with this version of Android.

Kodi 17 doesn't work/install. Probably incompatible with 4.4.2.
Kodi 16 installed just fine.
I used this file:
org.xbmc.kodi_16.1-161001_minAPI17(armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk
The device is SM-T217S.

My apologies if this has been covered, I did a search and while I found questions, I have not found any helpful answers.
I am huge fan of Hashcode's work and prior to yesterday was running a 3.x version of his code with no problems.
I decided to jump to 4.2 yesterday and love it so far.....except. I cannot get Netflix past the loading screen. I can log in, see my shows and select one and it is stuck at loading.
So far I have cleared cache, reinstalled Netflix, and even reinstalled the ROM, still the same results.
All of my other apps work just fine.
Any suggestions?
Thank you
Update
After 3rd ROM install Netflix now works.
Not sure what happened.
Thanks.
Having the same problem with Hashcodes 1/22 ROM of 4.2. Does anyone have any other solutions besides reinstalling the ROM until things magically start to work?
Well, I tried installing the ROM a few more times with no success. Anyone have any other ideas how to get Netflix working?
---------- Post added at 10:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 PM ----------
Quick update. The problems I was having were with the 1-22 ROM. I just upgraded to the 2-12 ROM, and it started working. Guess whatever was broken has been fixed. Thanks!

Netflix Build Number for AFTV2 vs original AFTV - is it newer?

I have a couple of the Fire TV version 1 boxes fully rooted with fully unlocked bootloaders and the latest prerooted roms (51.1.6.3_516012020) and the Netflix version loaded is 1.1.6 build 148, which is dated October 2014.
Can anyone who has a new FTV (version 2) confirm the version and build number of the Netflix app that comes installed? If it's newer, I'm wondering if the apk can be extracted and installed on the older units. I know the regular android version of the Netflix app gets updated on a far more regular basis. According to the Play Store, the latest version was updated October 18, 2015. So I have to wonder what features, bug fixes, etc. are we missing being an entire year behind.
So anybody out there who has an AFTV2, please go into the Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications and let me know what you have for Netflix version number.
It just seems a bit odd to me that the regular android version is 3.15.3 build 5269 and AFTV is at 1.1.6 build 148
If there is a newer version on the second gen AFTVs, I would be more than happy to test installing it on my older units.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Netflix on the Fire TV 2 is currently on version 2.4.0 build 1032
I'm pretty it's not a special version for AFTV2, but a new version exclusive to FireOS 5
I went ahead and tried extracted the APKs for the new NetFlix and Twitch.TV apps from my AFTV2, tried sideloading them onto my old AFTV but received a minSdkVersion error during installation.
So then I tried to use apktool to decode the APKs, then edited the minSdkVersion to make them installable, rebuilt the APKs, and re-signed the APKs.
I was then able to install the new versions of NetFlix and Twitch.TV on my old AFTV, but both of them simply crash upon launch...
It was my first time using apktool so maybe there are further tweaks you could do to make them work on the old AFTV.
It's not weird for developers to have versions of their apps different from their regular android version.
These versions are built with a leanback interface, made for easy navigation with a remote instead of a touchscreen.

Thanks for all your effort trying with that. I just have issues with the Netflix crashing frequently on my 2 rooted ones with the latest roms that is really quite annoying. As soon as I press play it closes. I'll have to do some more troubleshooting.

It seems Netflix on Fire OS 5 on the original fire tv is much better. Hopefully Amazon will be rolling that out sometime... Pretty sure they had originally promised October 5th...

Any odds on the possibilities of a Fire OS 5 prerooted rom for the first gens? If anyone can do it, you can! Thanks for all your hard work.

Yeah, it's all done. I'm just waiting on Amazon to push a final version.
Can anyone backup and upload the Netflix APK from a FireTV2. I would like to try it on my pre-rooted FireTV 1. Would appreciate it!

U-verse and rooted Tab Pro

Has anyone found a method to make uverse play on a rooted Tab Pro?
AOSP Roms would break Hulu for me on my Tab S. Tried Phoenix ROM(TW) with same results. Only Iron ROM(TW) works for me, even with Adaway. Not sure why. Even tried the modified apk's from the Hulu thread and they wouldn't work on AOSP or Phoenix. I'll check it out on my daughter's Tab Pro.
---------- Post added at 05:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:43 PM ----------
Checked my daughter's Tab Pro 8.4. I've rooted it and running Revolution ROM on it. Just installed Hulu and it's working fine. Maybe try flashing that ROM? It's stock based and running great!
Thanks
Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try.
Just FYI. I had an issue with the Optimum (Cablevision) app because it wouldn't work properly after I installed a custom ROM. Turns out there was a conflict between Xposed and the app. There was a Xposed fix though, which I installed and got everything working (except streaming through the app).
I know you said you have the U-Verse app, but it might be the same or similar issue if you have Xposed installed.
Edit: Also, if the issue is that the app just doesn't like root, you can try Root Cloak
http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-hide-root-access-from-apps-that-detect-root-on-android/
I used it at school because their network won't let you on if you are rooted, and it worked.

You have to take off your Fire TV Cube and see the motherboard has a test point and UART contact for bootloader exploit.

There is no root available for the firetv cube2. Being such a low volume device I would be surprised if any development or exploits are found. What is your goal for rooting? There are alternate means to personalize these without root.

Trying to root to run a newer android version as some apps are unsupported. I brought it cheap for my family as I really don't have money for a decent new box

Well, there is no root for the cube, likely not to be any major android updates ever. Amazon usually don't do major updates. Even on the devices that have root, it takes a developer to covert a compatible rom to make work (usually with flaws). There has never been a updated custom rom that isn't based on Amazons fireOS base. To my knowledge only one fire-TV has ever even had a custom rom installed that that is the firestick2 and it was based on android 5.1 (Lineage 12.1). What apps are you specifically looking to run? Through the threads you can find some modified or look for older versions of the apps that are still compatible on apkmirror.

I am curious, the cube2 runs android 9 which should be compatible with every app still.. Why do you believe the app's are not compatible? Do you know how to sideload apps on to the cube and how to access all apps?

Amazon Fire TV Devices
Amazon Fire TV Cube (2nd Generation): Fire OS 7.2.1.2 (17951962500) (Android 9.0)
Amazon Fire TV Cube (1st Generation): Fire OS 6.2.7.1 (3590964612) (Android 7.1.2)
Amazon Fire TV (3rd Generation): Fire OS 6.2.7.1 (3590963076) (Android 7.1.2)
Amazon Fire TV (2nd Generation): Fire OS 5.2.7.3 (652613820) (Android 5.1)
You can root the fireTV but there is no way to update the base OS, it isn't an unlock and there is a newer custom rom (likely not to have one either)
Here is a link to the root solution -
https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/development/unbrick-fire-tv-stick-2-anti-rollback-t3986303
Here is a link to a custom rom (it has bugs and is still android 5.1 based)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/rom-lineage-12-1-t4016981
But back to your app issue, what specific apps were you looking to install? Maybe i have some clues, i have a couple of firetv2's i use.

The ones i need are specific to Australia like 9 now, foxtel go, 7plus along with stan. There is probably more but thats all i know and i know as a fact they were developed after android 5 so finding a version that supports the fire TV gen 2 is highly unlikely

Fyi- from the playstore
9Now is available on Android OS 4.4 (KitKat) and above.
Foxtel GO is available for Android 5.0 and above.
For starters, typically apps are made to be compatible with some older versions of Android. You should be able to install them, function will likely need a mouse though (from my experience with play store apps on Amazon devices). Try them and see what apps don't work...
Despite not being able to update Android versions - if you're still attempting to root, this method has worked for the Fire TV 2 (model number DV83YW on bottom of device) for a number of months now, and is confirmed working on 5.2.7.2 by a number of people.

TCL 65C815K (C815) firmware update help

Hi peeps. I know this has probably been answered a few times but I'm still trying to get my head around all the models and firmware versions. What does what etc
Ive just got mine 5 weeks ago. It's running on V8-R851T02-LF1V307.013836 I'm guessing that's version 307? I have seen newer versions but nothing official. The firmware on this is awful. Kicks me out of apps. Won't load some apps. Laggy. So let down by this. Any news on Android 10 or any updates I can do to make it better
Thanks
I've just been on their website went to downloads software and the version it said was the latest was v363 so why won't my TV update to the latest version. Is there a way I can install from TV memory not a usb flash drive. I haven't got 1 to hand
You can try to put it in the root of internal storage and see what happens after local update or boot update (depends on .zip or .img)

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it already.
Hi, from where did you find the software update v363 to download? Could you please share the link.

Here are all found firmware versions.
I recommend everyone to flash 379. For me its the best firmware so far. System is very fast, HDR is finally OK, before this only mode that hdr was watchable was PC, in all others colours and faces were blown and washed. Now i can happily watch HDR content on Standart, dynamic, smart hdr or any other mode, depends on taste. Also, IPTV apps are working perfect. Before this i would get deinterlacing or decoding issues with some HD channels, only mx player would be able to play those. Now its perfect, every single channel works as it should. This TV now performs better than my old Mi box 3, i didnt really expect that when buying. I dont use netflix, so cant comment on that, but i do use Amazon Prime, and it is working well. Audio and subtitles are in sync, i get no freezes or such.
V378 is now available on the official website. I just flashed it via USB. The automatic update does not seem to work.
Can you share me the link where I can download the latest version?
Hi.
I only find V378, where did you find V379?
Thanks.
