[Q] Encryption after un-rooting... possible? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE (T805), running the stock Lollipop 5.0.2 (XA1BOJ1) and rooted with CF-Auto-Root.
Now I know that after rooting encryption is more or less not possible, what I am not sure about is if it is possible to encrypt the device (both the internal and external storage) after reflashing the stock ROM (whether Lollipop or Marshmallow, in case there are differences) and not rooting the device (and keeping it not rooted).
Anyone knows for sure..?
TIA
P.S. In case it's possible, is un-rooting sufficient or do I have to flash the stock ROM..? (I am asking because of I don't have to reflash I would keep at least some of the changes that I did to the OS while rooted, like for example the edits in some config files which grant me full acess to the SD, to mute the camera sound and so on)

1- If you stay stock firmware and dont flash any other roms you COULD but it isnt a wise choice as you would lose root and possibly any chance of ever getting root again. Every update I have ever seen is always leaked and hacked before the official release date so there is no need to ever use the original update feature. plus who wants to be stuck on android 4.3?
2- when going through the root process definitely back up everything.
3- i am not an expert on this part because I dont care about the warranty but as far as ive read your warranty will be tripped by knox.
4- you should use external sd card for anykind of flashing as internal memory gets wiped

[Q] GT-N5100 Italian 3g - to root or not to root

Hello fellow androidians
I am here because I desperately need to play Baldurs Gate on my Note 8 but Kies won't update my device - as far as I can understand, the Italian model is not exactly looked after and it's still running 4.1.2. So I won't be able to move stuff to the sd card for a while.
I have a few questions regarding this issue:
Can I safely root it?
And if I root it I can still use the base android or am I to flash a custom rom?
I would like to keep S Note which I use a lot, so any suggestion here is highly appreciated.
Will rooting mean loosing all the stuff I have in my galleries or will it be possible to root without a backup?
After years of Android use I collected a lot of memorabilia, which position and time of download is very precious to me. Call me ocd and you won't be wrong.
In case I will go for the root, will the tips provided here work on my model baseband version N5100XXBMC8?
I would be much happier if I had the possibility of updating to kit kat straight away, but this seems unlikely
How silly of me thinking Italian carriers would update my little treasure!
Normally you will not loose any data when you root your device. Base will not change. No need to flash a Custom Rom. So root your origunal 4.1.2 and finished.

[Q] Debating root, but have a few KNOX related questions (P600)

Hello all! I have just acquired a Note 10.1 2014 Edition! However, the one thing that's sort of bothering me is the lack of root. I also have a Note 3 that's rooted and it's amazing, so I would like that experience on my new tablet as well. My only fear is KNOX; Because my model is the Wi-Fi (P600) edition, there is no version of a root that keeps the KNOX flag at 0x0. With that said, I have a few questions:
1. If I root my tablet, is there any chance of me later on upgrading the system software of my device (Say, Lollipop later on when it's released)? I know OTA is out of the question when rooted.
2. Other than the KNOX applications, does the KNOX flag limit the usage of my device in any other way (for example, Miracast, HDCP, etc.)?
3. How limited am it to software changes on my phone with the KNOX flag enabled (I'm not talking apps, but system changes like bootloader, firmware, recovery, etc. Essentially, would I be able to install a custom bootloader and/or recovery after my KNOX flag is set to 0x1?)?
I have tried looking up the answers to these questions, but the sources I found have confused me. I'm not worried about my warranty either.
I also like to see those questions answered

1.) Odds are we will see 5.0-based ROMs before an OTA update for our specific device, so don't worry. On a previous tablet, I went from 3.2 to an OTA 4.0, then rooted and flashed a 4.1 ROM (CM10). The great part is, Toshiba never pushed anything past a horribly buggy 4.0 for it. Not only can you upgrade your software in the future, you'll have better options, more options, and (in all liklihood) earlier access.
2.) Not that I know of. I'm running all of my apps perfectly and have only had one feature not work on an Xposed module (hide WiFi on Wanam Xposed module), though I can't attribute that to KNOX in any way.
3.) I've never tried installing a custom bootloader or recovery, so unfortunately I can't answer that with any degree of certainty.

Yes. You can always upgrade by downloading firmware via a site like sammobile.com and flashing that via ODIN, or using Kies to automatically download the latest firmware and flash it to your device. Either of those methods will result in you losing root. If a root method exists for the updated firmware, you can re-root.

No. Screen mirroring (and possibly other features, but that's the only one I know of) will refuse to work if you have a custom recovery installed. You can get around this by reflashing stock recovery, or making an edit to a system file.

I don't believe there are any custom bootloaders available, but you can flash a custom ROM/recovery easily.
Decided to root... but how?
Okay, thanks guys. I've decided that I would like to take the plunge and root my tablet. However, I'm confused on how I should. What method should I use to root my tablet? I'm running KitKat 4.4.2 version NI1.
Would this still work?

Here you go, step by step.
There are also YouTube videos on rooting our tablets (albeit with different files for an earlier version) that show you the process. I like using them when rooting devices so I can visualize the steps and actually see how it's done rather than just reading about it.

[Q] Full ROM backup/restore?

I recently upgraded from a Galaxy S4. I had flashed a custom ROM, 4.3 Stock(ish)v06. The main reasons I loved it were for the built-in WiFi Tethering and the built-in ad blocking.
1) Is there such a ROM for the LG G3 with these two features? If not the tethering, the ad-blocking is much more important.
2) I have been out of ROM flashing for quite a while and only got back into it a year or so ago to root my Galaxy S4. To be able to do a full backup of my current ROM and everything in memory so that I can restore it completely, what do I need to do? Is it something like this:
a) Root it
b) Install a custom recovery (I liked Philz)
c) Use the custom recovery to do a full backup

Cyanogenmod 12 has USB tethering, hotspot, and Bluetooth tethering built-in. You can also just download a third party app for adblocking such as AdBlocker, which was made by the same people who made the ad blocker on computers that you're probably using right now.
To create a full backup:
I would recommend TWRP because it is the only one I'm familiar with and can't suggest others. First, root your phone, install SuperSu, and all that other stuff. Then install TWRP. The setup is really easy and I had it myself in minutes. Then just reboot into custom recovery and tap backup and do a full backup. It's that simple.
Thanks for the response.
Is it really that simple? I've been reading, and apparently no one can root the latest version of Android (v5.0.1) on the Sprint LG G3. Maybe I should have said what version came on the phone.
Everything I've been able to find says that I'd have to revert to an older version of Android first and *then* root it?

You would have to use the LG Flash Tool to downgrade your phone to an earlier version that can be rooted. The process itself will take 30 minutes Max, but downloading the files may take a while since they are more than a gig.
Saw your reply by chance. Quote me to ensure a response (it'll send me an email).

Inquiry: Can I restore my phone using someone else's backup?

Hello, fellow A720f owners. I messed up my Type-C port. While it can still definitely charge, still quite fast at that, the data transfer doesn't seem to work. So, no Odin for me.
Luckily, I've already rooted the phone and installed cmw as my custom recovery way before I messed the port up (submerged phone in a swimming pool for too long)
My phone went into a boot loop after I tried unrooting via SuperSu and rerooting via Kingroot (I was trying to see if I could really root my phone through Kingroot.) Because I saw that Kingroot was performing some shady actions (it installed itself as a system app for one), used root explorer to remove Kingroot from the systems folder.
I was planning on flashing a custom ROM via sd card, but I haven't seen any roms for the a7 2017 (6.0.1)
I failed to make a backup as well as I wasn't expecting things to go awry. (lesson learned)
So, I now have a question that you probably already know because of the title.
Inquiry: Is it possible to restore my phone using someone else's backup?
Request: If yes, is anyone of you willing to send me a backup so I can restore my phone? What other measures should I take to ensure that the procedure will succeed?
Some info I left out:
Model: SM-A720f (Open line, Philippines) [Surprise! I'm not Korean haha]
Build: A720FXXU1AQC5
Android Version: 6.0.1
Recovery: CWM
ROM: Stock
Thank you all in advance.
