Because the right one is a microphone not a speaker?

the right side is not a speaker.

Interesting, thanks for the info. Sure made them look the same.

Sounds like something is loose

I am hearing a clicking sound near the speaker when I hit gently the upper part of the phone.
Is this normal or something is loose inside. This happened from the beginning.
Any insight of what might make this sound is welcome.
Thank you
I think mine has some noise as well when i hit the top part of the phone.
You hear the shutter/focus part of your phone... Htc hero, Htc diamond, htc Legend all ''rattle'' when you tap them near the camera.

Sorry for saying this but I am quite happy to see I am not alone on this one. The thing that I hate the most is sending to warranty a new product.
Maybe someone knows more of this sound.

Why on earth nexus one is more expensive than desire??

WhY oN eArth nExuS oNe iS moRe eXpeNsiVe tHan dEsiRe??
pLeaSe dOn'T tYpe liKE THat! it is unbelievely hard to read.. anyways.. its cos its has a "Google" logo on the back apart from that it is not better in any way or form well, I do prefer the look, and it actually has a track ball which I'd love to have in my Desire!
hope this helps! good Luck!

+1 on not doing the FuNkY typing!
Personally, I paid more for my desire than the nexus one. Obviously market conditions have changed. There is no longer an AMOLED issue on Desire because of SLCD. Nexus One on the other hand, doesnt use SLCD and has been discontinued, making it rarer and harder to acquire.
You'd expect it to be more expensive now

No - the Nexus One hasn't been discontinued!
Google closed their online "mobile phone" store, but the Nexus One is still being manufactured and can be purchased as the official Android Dev phone and direct from carriers such as Vodafone in the UK.
In addition, it has also moved to SLCD.
On to the OPs question - the slight hardware diffences between the Desire and Nexus One will account for some of it (e.g. noise cancelling microphone on the Nexus, trackball, capacitive buttons etc), and the rest is probably just a "Google Tax" because they set the price of the Nexus One.

Dave

Why? iT's ReaLly BoRinG fOr mE tO tYpE In tHe NoRmaL wAy..
Any way i type in normal way beacause of you
Thank u, Good Reason, It Seems To Be Just Google
((But Why Do u Prefer TrackBall To Optical One))
Might be boring but it's the forum rules - if you don't want to follow them then leave
'' Pisssss on This ****ing rules, i just want my cigarettes back''
don't get it wrong it's just a quote from my favorite movie ''One Flew Over the cuckoo's Nest''
But Correct me if i'm wrong:
IF i type tYpE instead of type, i've just broken the rules..?
Come on i know most of user don't like this type of typing & i should respect them and don't type in that way (as i'm doing NOW) BUT i don't think it's against the RULES...
From the Rules (http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=263#td_post_81)
3. Post only using a clear subject and message - so must be legible and not hard to read

hah, nice one EddyOS
the trackball I would prefer because I find it hard to use my optical D pad because when my phone is in my case it is quite hard to find it and use (while typing a text) so if a ball would just stick out a bit more I would find it more confortable
Thank u EddyOs..
But ''Post only using a clear subject and message'' doesn't say that typing tYpE is wrong, tYpE is NOt Clear..?

Uhm yeah the nexus has a noise microphone, but the desire has more RAM and fm radio
So in the end its mostly google tax

The Nexus One has the FM radio too, by virtue of the using the same Broadcomm chip, and I believe it has been enabled in some Nexus One ROMs (though not officially).

Turning the top earpiece into speaker?

Hey guys, I faintly remember reading somewhere that developers were able to get the earpiece on the Nexus 5 to work as a speaker as long as the phone was rooted. So my question is, are there any developers that're working on modifying the top earpiece on the 5x to work as a second speaker (possibly for stereo sounds)? I know that if that were to happen, the top "speaker" probably wouldn't be as loud as the actual speaker on the bottom, but I'm excited for this to happen (hopefully) soon because coming from a Nexus 6, the single speaker on the Nexus 5X is a bit disappointing. Anyways, thanks all!
Some developer also did the exact same thing in one plus one...imagine that mod combined with v4android.. Awesomeness

Bump as this will be interesting, if and when a dev manages it
I'm sure this will happen, just need to wait for sources [emoji14]
@sshafranko is the only person that can perform that magic! He is a great guy. If someone asks him nicely I am sure he would try his best to help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/themes-apps/mod-tmon5surroud-sound-t3187359
Does he work on nexus devices as well or is it just Samsung? I might ask him but I'm always scared to ask devs to see if they can do this or that because they have other things to do then to cater to my wants.
Awesome mod! Thanks for the link and I'll be sure to follow!

It's done..stu5797 supplied the files needed and tested....im gonna make a flashable zip for the surround and one to revert to stock. Thanks stu
Thanks stu and franko. You got it to work fast! Also, it's a bit ironic that I didn't know how to send you the mixer files considering I'm a CS major and had just come back from my computer lab.
All I did was check a box in root explorer and hit send. Please only send your appreciation to SShafranko. He really deserves it!
Anyone know if the earpiece speaker is the same size/quality/wattage as the lower main speaker? Curious about long term usage of a mod like this.

Is your mod available? I used it briefly in my n5 but didn't have it long enough to see if the speaker held up. I'm glad to hear you haven't had any issues tho! I'm eaker to try it out when I can. Always a fan of your stuff.

Small almost translucent gray circle

When I take a picture and the background is solid, I see a small, gray circle as I focus, and when I take the picture, it is in the picture. Any thoughts as to where this is coming from and what to do about it? I cleaned the lens, but it's still there. If I can figure out how to add a picture, I'll post one so you can see what I'm seeing. The photos are on my laptop if you can tell me how to post them on here. Thanks so much!
Put it on a site like imgur or you can download the XDA app, login, and upload from your phone.

Looks like a dead pixel on the screen. About all you can do is RMA it.
its very possible you have dust on the inside of the camera glass cover, or even on the lens itself.
is the blotch always in the same spot relative to the picture dimensions?

I think this is a problem with Android P beta. I'm having similar issue and we even had a thread about it. Though I contacted Google, they were of no help because of the beta. I'm waiting for the official up to see if the issue gets resolved...

That's perfectly normal IMO. I have heard these similar sounds in Samsung flagships and other OEMs before at different places. Enjoy your device till the time it is under warranty and it doesn't has any adverse effect on the day to day device functionality.

Wow i thought i am the only one. Yes it does make a rattling around .. even if i drop the phone on my bed from ≥15-20cm. And also if you tap on the area beside the camera lens, you get to hear a blank tapping sound. Is it so?

Yep. It makes the sound...
Hey, not you not me but every A50 user is reporting this to samsung and it said that it just a sound from the lens which is used for autofocus. So nothing to worry about it ?
I am facing the same issue. Rattling sound when I tap the backside of the phone.
What can be done for this? It has increased from last week.
