I recently switched to the Z5 Premium single sim version and can't seem to get a 4G+/LTE-A connection at all. I can get regular 4G etc. fine. It's definitely not just the symbol either, because the speeds are regular 4G and not 4G+. When I put the sim back in my Galaxy Note 4 it works with 4G+ perfectly. The phone is simfree from Amazon UK on unbranded firmware. I see the modem is a Telefonica UK one though, not sure if this makes a difference. Three Ireland use band 20 for 4G+, so I know it's compatible. Would flashing firmware from a different country help? Is there a way to flash the modem or baseband of a different firmware to make it switch to 4G+, maybe Three Sweden or something? Is it a problem with the network? Thanks, Griff

I would check your APN first to make sure it matches your carrier, if that does not make a difference I would find a firmware that matches your carrier. On AU customized I get the 4G icon, on Singtel I get LTE and VoLTE but the speeds are pretty much the same. I am in the US though and what they call LTE here is not really LTE. So on some firmwares I get the 4G icon and some the LTE icon but like I said the speeds are the same.

I have rooted and installed CM7 on my Defy. I bought an unlocked Defy from ebay after a google search revealed that it would work with ATT.
So far, I am only able to connect to the EDGE network and only make calls. I can't get text messages to work, but I can get about 40kbps when I run the speedtest app. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.
The Defy from T-Mobile is not compatiple with AT&T 3g bands. Also your texting problem is connected to your APN settings not being correct.
You are correct, sorry I meant to say that the 850 band is the only one reported working
Several other forums report that the 850 band works on ATT 3G.
a tmobile defy definitely works on att. I am on one right now.
did you check the band changer? since you're on edge you should be on the correct bands. maybe the person sold you a non tmobile defy?
also i've seen a 3g fix floating around but i'm not sure what it's for.
with my tmo defy that was unlocked i just popped in my sim and it worked. when i changed to cm7 i had to change the bands and then it worked.
It is a non t-mob defy.
Or at least I suspect this based on the European style plug.
Which baseband are you using?
i am using the americas us t-mo 3.4.2-107-4
Hi,
I have a Xperia Ion, Firmware .68 LT28i, rooted, I can't seem to get LTE working... I have tried using *#*#INFO#*#* and changing it to LTE but my carrier defaults to 3G (H symbol) I am in HK, and i know LTE is available, because i went into the carrier's shop and they tried putting my sim card in a Samsung phone and it showed up as 4G. So, are their any settings i need to change to get LTE? The download speeds are slow so i i don't think i am on LTE.
Thanks

Feck. It seems LTE Band 4 and 17 are not actually supported by any of the networks in HK, What a waste of time this is then. LTE seems to be a bit of a mess with so many different versions of the same phone required to support LTE!
I have a t889v running rooted stock 4.4.2 build #kot49h t889vvludnh2, which is the newest build for my phone, i'm trying to mod the battery percentage, i want it to be larger in size so i can see it better. I have tried various mods on the exposed installer i.e. wanam etc. none seem to work, so i would like to use root explorer and change the setting in build prop, the problem is i don't know where to look. if anyone knows where i need to go and what lines to adjust it would be much appreciated. thanks in advance

Do you happen to know what is new with the t889vvludnh2 ROM? I can't find any information anywhere on this update. My assumption was that LTE was enabled. But I am not sure.

i don't see much deference between this and the last rom. I don't see LTE anywhere in the network selection it's still gsm or wcdma
edit: just went into service mode and there is awhole bunch 0f LTE bands, so it seems we have LTE now. For service mode type *#2263# into the dialer and you should see a screen come up with all the band selection. i'm on wind so we do not have LTE service so there is no way to test if LTE works.

I have a windmobile T889v unlocked as well. I am currently in the states and I tried a T-Mobile sim card and did not get LTE. Only 3G. Maybe the LTE bands enabled on our phones are only for the videotron LTE bands?
Hopefully, someone on videotron can chime in.
I will try to get hold of ATT sim card to try.

Which APN did you use? Which part of the US were you in? Not all areas are covered by LTE service.
I am in LA.
It was the APN that was pre-programmed into the T-Mobile sim card. I didn't modify anything. My buddies Nexus 5 was getting LTE and he didn't program any APNs either.
While at the same location when I swapped it in my T889V I only saw 3G (in settings > about I saw HSPA and HSPA+). But def not LTE.

I got a hold of an ATT sim card with LTE service, and only got 3G speeds. Tested the speed on the T889v and an LTE enabled phone with the speed test app. So on T889v def 3G(HSPA) speeds, while on the LTE device LTE like speeds.
Anyone know which LTE band videotron enabled? I thought it was Band 4 (AWS band).
The only other thing I can think of is that the I am using the Windmobile firmware update for T889V and perhaps the version for Videotron is different even though the baseband is the same version.
I had been assuming that Videotron, WIndmobile and Mobilicity were all using the same firmware since the baseband is exactly the same.
Anyone with Videotron T889V with stock baseband upgrade getting LTE speeds?

So a mate has a P2 and can't seem to get it to connect to 4G. The SIM card and network is Vodafone UK.
What I know/have tried:
- SIM in both sim slots will connect to 3.5G (HSDPA) on Vodafone network
- A different SIM (Three UK) did connect to 4G in the SIM slot 1 (did not try SIM slot 2)
- Settings says 4G preferred network is selected
- By typing *#*#4636#*#* into dialer and going to phone info displays LTE is selected as one of the preferred networks
- The same SIM (Vodafone UK one) connects to 4G in his old phone and has done in all his old phones
- APN settings are correct, verified by Vodafone support plus myself looking online
So he talked to Vodafone support again today who said try speed tests in 3 different locations and report back. He has done 1 which is 14mbps down and 3mbps up which is slow for 4G (I get 64mbps down and 24mbps up, different network but shows his is slow and likely not 4G). Similarly we we know the device can connect to 4G from using the Three UK SIM.
My gut instinct is it's a network issue, all device settings seem okay, nothing is screaming out of place. The issue though is that the SIM has connected to 4G in his other devices so confuses me.
So, I'd love your thoughts and inputs on this. Any suggestions welcome that may help! Thanks!

I dont know the device or network specifically But I know that the device has to support the same lte bands that the carrier broadcasts in LTE in that area Just because the carrier broadcasts say 900mhtz in LTE, if the device dont support 900 in lte then it wont get it. I have had cases wher 3g is the same freq as 4g it still wont pick it up If you get what I am saying. May be a issue or not.
to further add he might take one of the old devices and use a signal catching app to see what lte bands are broadcasted in his area then compare to device
Thanks @TheMadScientist, all suggestions welcome still. I'm gunna continue to keep an eye on this, research answers and send him a link to this so he can test anything on the device.

We get this issue a lot using sprint phones unlocked international gsm. A lot of carriers seem to not use the same lte bands.
Then naturly verizon devices come gsm unlocked but verizons radios are crap and do not pick anything up half the time. My veriz g5 can get lte next town over cause they use a supported band and no towers near me use it. So i get 3g. And a lot of h h+ i ise lte discovery as the app on mine.
Just hope this isnt his issue as its a harware compatibility .

So I checked the network and the device (on GSM arena) and it seems 4G bands are supported. But I'll try that lte discovery app with him soon you mentioned and see what results that yields

You should check the manuals if there is support for 2600 frequency on phone.
Maybe the phone supports 800/1800(cos 3 is on 1800) and you don't have 800 band in area.
You will have to contact Lenovo and ask them to change baseband or whatever...
or Perhaps get a new phone with support for 2600
Had the same problem using a LG G3. I tried this App to trigger LTE only. Then the Phone connect to the LTE network.

Hello,
I have a note 10+ of US origin with snapdragon 855, I want to use it in Europe (France) in order to have the best possible network.
I installed the firmware N975U1 XAA but I don't have 4G + (I only have the LTE logo, no LTE +), a lot problem of concern for notification with my mailboxes.
So I would have liked to know if there was a more suitable firmware for France in order to have the 4G logo which replaces the LTE logo? and maybe be able to receive 4G +?
I know I cannot install the XEF firmware because the processor is not the same.
Thanks for your help
Hello ,
I'm surprise ! Your provider ? Your mobile network coverage ? If you have another mobile , full XEF , what result on the same place ? switch off !
I use the Orange network. the network is the same with another mobile except that I receive 4g + while there it is simple lte. I know there is normally lte + in us. so know if it is possible to have a firmware allowing to have 4g +. after maybe nothing to do but I receive with great difficulty the notifications gmail and other mailbox. I have however reinstalled everything several times but no change.
does anyone know if this is possible? or a tweak that allows you to do it? thank you
4G, 4G+, lte, lte+, lteA, 5G, etc, are sevice provider dependant, so, you will get what the carrier gives you, no way to obtain services that other carriers provide
I'm using a Canadian Note 10+ (N975W) here in the UK which is working flawlessly, I have full 4G+, VoLTE & WiFi calling, the only thing that doesn't work is Samsung Pay which I knew anyway, and as I use Google Pay, it isn't a issue :highfive:
Firstly search the bands that your phone uses with its model name on GSM arena, then the ones used by the carriers you'll need for both countries.
Then with the RNC mobile app or with Activity Launcher, search "hidden" and launch the one under "paramètre d'appel"
You'll be able to see what bands are actually used by your current carrier.
Since the protocol names and frequency aggregation hints are carrier specific, you may already use 4G+ without knowing.
Hello, I'm going back to the topic because I still don't have a solution at the moment. I had the opportunity to have a French Note 10 alongside with the same operator, I had the "4G +" (LTE+) logo, the speeds were tested at 300 mega / sec. With my 10+ USA rating stuck on the LTE logo I only get 50 mega / sec ...: /
according to my research this is a carrier aggregation problem.
How to unlock it?
I just tried the Canadian rom and the same, no support for LTE + or 4G +, the speeds are as low as with the US version
