Someone said that double tapping is not working on sgs but im gonna try it
Just tried works,
How to:
Once downloaded from market, in your app draw open up itching thumb and configure it then press the home button and select it a your default launcher and on a double tap it will launch the task manager
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Double tapping options really doesn't work well on the SGS.
But!
Single tapping options works perfectly, and I find it's actually more useful. Go into options for Itching Thumb, and set:
Double Click for Activation to OFF
Inertia to Medium
Make sure High Quality Previews is on
Then you can bring it up with just a single tap on home. To get to your normal home screen, just tap home a second time. The card layout works really well, and you can put shortcuts on the bottom bar - just hold down on it and it will pop up.
This is now my 'homescreen' of choice - really efficient!
Does it work if you have Launcher Pro ?
with launcher pro works not very well when press the home button
Been on AOSP for a while....
How do I totally disable the lock screen on a Sense ROM?
Any way to wake up phone with volume buttons?
Also... Any way to increase the number of"recent apps" that pop up when I long press home button?
Thanks!
[ Evo / KWIQ-ns / from xda app ]
use an external lock screen like magic locker or GO series
i believe theres a app in the market that does what ur asking for i havent used it in a while u might want to search no lock on the market search bar to see if it finds it still.
As mentioned, No Lock from the market will disable the lockscreen. Once the lockscreen is disabled, the phone will wake with the volume buttons - the lockscreen is what keeps it from waking on anything other than the power button.
As for recent apps, I couldn't tell you. I know there are third party replacements of the recent apps dialog, but I don't know if it's possible to launch them by long-pressing home. I just use an app to open up my app drawer (Alt Drawer) when I long-press the search button. That works well for me, but I don't know if that would meet your specific needs. With Alt Drawer you can sort by "Most Used", but that can make finding a particular recent app difficult. I just sort mine alphabetically, that way I can easily launch any app from anywhere. You could use an app (Quick Launch, Button Shortcut, or another) to open the replacement "recent apps" by long-pressing the search button.
Is it possible to change the delay on the home button long press to bring up the task manager more quickly in touchwiz? By default it feels frustratingly slow!
I want to keep the S-apps so I am not interested in a different home manager.
Thanks
Here the little known solution.

Please here me out as this involves installing Nove launcher. Something you stated you do not wish to do.
Install Nova launcher but after pressing the home button choose TouchWiz "always".
If you now long press the screen and choose "apps & widgets". In there somewhere is a widget called Nova launcher. Long pressing this to place it on the screen invokes a menu that actually belongs to the Nova launcher where you can choose "Recent apps". This places a recent apps shortcut on your screen which open instantly.
This obviously does not help if you are not on the home screen and will jump back to a previous app. In such situations you should use the best app on the market for multitasking which is called SwipePad. You need to purchase the "recent apps" add on ftbut it's worth it.
Hope this helps.
I wish S-apps (especially the S-Planner widget) worked with third party launchers. Touchwiz is smooth and fast but the grid is simply to limited and no full screen annoys me.
download taskmanager app from samsung appstore...put it on homescreen
Disable double press of the home button in S voice.
Whenever you press the home button it waits to see if you double press it before deciding that you only intended to press it once.

Thanks for these tips, swipepad looks very interesting!
Also I didn't realize that the pop-up S-Note still worked with Nova Launcher, so I may keep Nova anyway (I think I can live without S-Planner...)
I frequently do things on my phone while it's lying on it's back on a table, rendering the lock button and volume buttons on the back useless. Is there a way to add a lock button to the home touch buttons or notification panel?
If you're using the default launcher, double tap on the screen to lock.
If you're using another launcher, such as Nova, double tap the notification bar at the top of the screen.
You can also use Tasker to create a lock shortcut action and icon.
And if you have Tasker AND Nova, you can assign a double tap gesture on the launcher to start the shortcut action.
If you're using a third party launcher that supports gestures, you can use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
This all is also really handy:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures
Double tap the notification panel without expanding it and it will lock or a blank spot on the home screens/lock screen.
I use greenify, if you swipe up it gives you the option for Google now or hibernate+lock screen, its nice because my fingers are usually right at the home buttom

+1 super simple. Works from any screen.
I am on latest update and using Nova Launcher. All of a sudden today my recent apps option changed. The Cross button was replaced by a Close Apps button and there is no Split Screen options. How to get back to earlier options?
Found the reason, it was due to Oneplus Launcher update. Split screen option comes after long press on app
