Play Store not working after rooting through NRT - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday I rooted my Nexus 5x running on stock Android 7.1.1 using Nexus Root Toolkit, after that play store not working, it's not downloading any apps , its showing "download pending" and some time "downloading". I tried every possible thing from clearing data to modifying host file. But it's still showing download pending.

strange, normally this can't be related to rooting.
I'd try again with latest versions of PlayStore and Play Services from www.apkmirror.com

[Q] Google Play Store starts crashing while downloading

Yesterday, Google Play Store was working flawlessly.
Now, it opens, lists the apps updates and when I try to download, it crashes.
I'm with AOKP jb 4 in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250.
The version of gapps installed with the ROM was 20120726.
Some sites (like goo.im) released 20121011. It does not work either.
I'm flashing gapps and wiping the cache/dalvik each time.
Did you try to wipe market app data and reboot?

Yes. And the problem continues.
If I uninstall the updates, the problem continues.
What can I do now? Am I alone with this?
Force close it and then clear data... when it's done then Download from internet the latest Play Store and install it by replacing the old one..

How? Where do I download the .apk file? Sorry for the silly question...
I've downloaded from here -http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-google-play-apk-3-9-16/
And installed. The app opens and when I try to download it crashes...
Strange that it worked until yesterday...
The strange part: if I login in my PC I can load the Google Play Store and from "My apps" I am able to install new apps and also update the old ones...
What's going on? ???
Know what?
Today it simple disappeared and the apps updated regularly.
Seems that, yesterday, something went wrong in the communication with the Google Play and not in my phone.
I promise: I did nothing to solve (I'm sure I've restored a nandroid of few hours before it starts to happen).

Google play store stuck at downloading

Hi everyone, my lg g4 h815p was working with marshmallow and I wanted revert it to lollipop for root. Now google play store downloads stuck at downloading or at some percentage (for example %91). Also it gives an error 489. Sometimes it can download 1 or 2 apps but again stuck for next app. Yes, I have ****ty wifi but there was no problem before now and my brother can download apps using the wifi with his phone.
I tried clear cache/file google play store, google play services, download manager and deleting my google account and adding it again. Also clearing google play store updates and trying to download with mobile data instead of wifi didn't work. For example when it is stuck at %72, if I turn off and turn on wifi or turn on mobile data, sometimes it continues downloading and the app is installed but this doesn't always work. Finally, I did a factory reset, reset my modem and change dns to google dns also installed the lollipop kdz again with LGUP didn't solve the problem. I thought that Adaway blocks google play store somehow, disabled and uninstalled it also didn't help. Last, I want to say that my lg g4 was working with no problems with the same lollipop kdz and rooted 2 months ago.

its impossible to understand what you are trying to do there. Marshmallow isn't rooted ?
Anyway , since you are rooted, just flash new gapps in recovery or use flashfire and flash them.
I don't understand what the problem is and you want lollipop that bad and i don't know where exactly the play store error is since i don't have a logcat to show the error, but reflashing gapps will solve it.
My phone's bootloader is locked. I'm just installing the stock h815p lollipop kdz with LGUP, I don't have recovery/TWRP . After rooting it, I installed Xposed with Flashfire. My problem is that I can't download apps from google play store. Everything is working perfect except play store issue.

flash new gapps with flashfire. you don't need a custom recovery.

I installed the stock lollipop kdz again. After 15 minutes when I looked into the installed apps there was latest version of the google play store but the google play services version was old. So, I downloaded the latest version of the google play services apk and installed it manually. After restarting the phone, the issue was fixed. Thank you for your help.

nope. anytime. But you could directly do what i said and flash gapps from flashfire, there was no need to reflash kdz and waste time looking for the problem

How do I get Netflix app to update?

Unlocked bootloader, not rooted. I used to be able to update Netflix on Google Play Store this way by checking for app updates, but seems like that's gone. I've tried clearing Play Store and Play Services cache/data, but no luck.
Do I have to sideload the app from now on? And if so, where's a reliable (ie: not full of malware) source for the Netflix apk?

Use Yalp Store! It's an app store identical to the play store where you can find and update all them blocked apps
Use apk mirror https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/
I think I might have figured out the issue with Netflix not showing up in the play store. Im also unlocked and couldn't get it to work for the longest time. I think it's twrp that's causing the issue. I decided to go flash the factory image to go back to stock. Instead of using twrp, I used the Canary build of magisk to patch the boot.img from the factory image, then flashed the patched boot.img to achieve root. Netflix showed up doing it this way. So I had stock recovery, was unlocked and rooted with Netflix showing up on play store.
Recovery has nothing to do with it. My P2XL: Android 10, stock, rooted (Magisk 20.0), and TWRP installed. INSTALLED Netflix from the Play Store and updated Netflix from there as well.
After I sideload Netflix on my rooted Pix 2 XL, I am able to get updates via the Playstore.

Which version did you sideload. It was updating for me for a while but I don't think it still is, but the numbering on apkmirror is confusing for netflix jumps from 6.x to 3.x and the 3.x won't install on my pxl2xl

I can confirm that since Magisk 20, Netflix installs and updates fine from the play store. Before that I was using Aurora store.

Netflix is gone.

Suddenly Netflix app is gone in my Moto G5S, android 8.1. I searched trhough the internet and here and i didn't found any clue. Netlix isn't listed in play store in my device. Is anyone else going through this problem? It seems a problem between motorola and netflix.
Thx.

I tryed install via apk downloaded and didn't worked. I will try to sideloading, thx.
Edit. I sideloaded the apk downloaded in Netflix site. The app opens and imediately pop up a msg saying "This device is not compatible". This is very weird, a few weeks ago it was working. The last time that i updated this Moto G5S was in february.

Make sure you're downloading the armv7 version of the app. Also, have you tried fastboot flashing the latest stock ROM?
Problem solved. I just cleaned the data of Play Store and the Netflix app is back in Play Store to download. Now it's working. Don't know why this happened, but it's ok now. Thanks for all.

Google Play not installing or updating apps

Hello, I am with Lineage OS (19-20230130-NIGHTLY-gauguin) and for about a week Google Play has stopped working.
It opens normally but when trying to install or update it gets stuck in downloading and then goes to failed. I have enough memory space and haven't made any changes to the device other than updating Lineage OS from time to time via the built-in updater.
I have installed Aurora market and connect it to my google account but the same thing happens when I try to install or update an app: it stays downloading and then fails.
Things I've tried, without success:
- Clear cache and data from Google Play, Google Play Services and download manager.
- Uninstall updates in the Google Play app.
- Uninstall the app from Google Play by fastboot and reinstall it.
- Remove my Google account from the phone and put it back in and sync it.
Any ideas?
Could you figure out where it fails? Perhaps it's "just" the network:
I have an adblocker on my router and lately I couldn't login into several sites properly until I switched from WLAN to mobile.
Alternatively you could try
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.aurora.store/
It's like Google Play Store without the need for an account.

Thanks for your response. It shouldn't be the network because I'm able to navigate properly. Anyway, I tried both wifi and phone data with the same result. Also, it started happening just a week ago and I have been using the same connection all the time so I would discard it be network related.
Aurora I tried already and gave the same problem as Google Play.

Indeed it's weird... I thought it could be an issue like this but in my case I didn't do an upgrade to a higher LineageOS version, just normal updates.
BTW I love your username

Hang on a second, just tried my FP3 which was on 20230123 and updates working (there was one: Android Auto). Now updating to 20230130 and checking again...
Still updating...
Someone in that reddit link mentioned mindthegapps... I vaguely remembered that I was slightly annoyed/confused with the directions given in the LOS wiki:
OpenGApps vs MindTheGapps
https://wiki.lineageos.org/gapps
Finally decided to go with MindTheGapps... do you recall your choice?
Ah, it finally finished updating: Aurora is up and working (at google translate installed like a charm and works).
