So this is my third pixel since December 21st and I didn't notice or pay attention to it on other resolution pics but I really don't know if this is how this phone is supposed to show pictures. I mean it doesn't do it on all but when it's a small thumbnail pic it doesn't show the halo, I guess you can see around the first picture in the link below but once you open it up it shows that ugly display or resolution .

What exactly are we looking for in the pictures. I don't see anything weird in those pictures.

You don't see the lines running across the screen or the halo resolution around the cube picture?
Looks like color gradient..... That's the pictures fault

Those are due to the image not the phone. Can I ask what was wrong with you're first two pixel devices.

The first one i got, the display had a pinkish hue on the screen and then the second one within like 2-3 weeks after use the wifi barely worked, and it turned off on me 3-4 times randomly
you're new device seems to be behaving normally to me. Those pictures look to be the fault of the pictures and not the device. I think you're good to go.

Hi all
I faced a very strange problem. Let go of the dead pixels, I am talking about the camera previewing the image very clear and OK. After the shot has taken place the photo is decorated with bright spots (red, blue..etc) sometimes 2, sometimes 5 it depends -I dont know on what. They are not present in the real view ofcourse. This is not dead pixels as they move and grow as I zoom in to the photo..Any similar encounters???? Or Advice. By the way, this is my second exchange from amazon. I asked them to send me a third unit.

Thank you for your reply. Please find attached the photo with the problem previoiusly mentioned. You can see the bright 2 spots in the middle and to the right of the picture if you enlarge it they will appear clearly. Those 2 dots are not present in the real scene nor pre the shot in the view finder. After the camera takes the shot they appear in all pictures.
Here's a snap I took with the camera right on top of a black surface. You can see there's a couple of spots near the bottom but certainly not as bad as yours. It probably happens since the camera is not made for taking black photos and as it struggles to focus, it is "tricked" into thinking there's some light there where there's not. But anyway, if it bothers you to the point where it effects your normal photos, then you should return it.
I got this phone last week and love it.
Anyway, I noticed that when I go to camera viewer in the dark or view a black image I get a gradient white to transparent line from the top of the screen all the way across. Is it normal or Am I the only one who has this problem?
See the attachment, so you can see the problem what I am talking about. See the mark on those pics.
Should I return it??
Thanks!
Yes, I get exactly the same thing. Only noticeable when the image at that end of the screen is completely dark.
It doesn't show in the actual photo.
I wouldn't return it as it doesn't affect the result and it seems to be only one pixel wide.

Darn near $800 phone... If I order it and don't have absolute perfection, it's getting returned.

May as well save yourself the trouble of buying one then.

I am glad to know that I am not only one here. However, I like to know how many people here have this 'not-really-problem'.
Anyone, does your nexus have a similar issue to mine? If so, please post here (just say "yeah, I have that, no big deal" or whatever)
Mine has it as well, and it appears to me to be the same color gray as the background for the camera UI, and this is just the edge of the "view finder," I am guessing that the coder for the camera miscalculated where the screen edge would be...
Bump
Please vote in the poll.
Thanks!
I have had over my phone over a month now , sharp panel vertical lines poor battery. However i have noticed today i now have 3 stuck pixels close to center of screen. I haven't had a phone with stuck pixels in over 6 years and i was wondering if anyone else has any ?
I've been lucky enough that my last 3 phones didn't have dead pixels. It's actually shocking to me. Generally, anything with a screen I have to return at least once.

well i used to be the same always purchasing screens with dead pixels and returning , talk about bad luck . This is the first screen in years ive seen dead / stuck pixels on and not to impressed , specially couple with vertical lines (Sharp panel).
My screen is all good here, but I have heard of many people exchanging this phone for various screen issues. First I've heard of dead pixels though!
These lines, what do they look like exactly? Just curious as I see that mentioned a lot..
What vertical lines are you referring to that bothers you? Can you take a picture of them?
BTW, I have none of those issues.

Looks like the touch sensor matrix. My iPad air 2, NVIDIA shield, 2015 Moto G, and 10 have these in horizontal and vertical if you look close enough. If they're the same lines, then this is normal and is needed to detect touch.

I see. I can kinda see them on mine. But I had to turn the screen off and get under a bright light. Never would have known. Are they more noticeable on yours??
for me they were very noticeable when i first powered the device on , viewing images or web pages with white background they would appear grey. They settled after a few days but still noticeable from time to time. Maybe i have just got used to them
Realized myself it was matrix and part of the tech , did consider rma at first but didn't want to risk the pink tint
Have a white pixel
So today morning I saw a dead white bright spot
May be dead pixel or even a broken pixel due to pressure
To be frank I didn't had it when I bought this month ago
I would like to say that I was playing gangster Vegas for around 3-4 hours yesterday night and when I woke up in the morning I saw it.
Have tried jscreen etc etc nothing worked. Applied pressure also that even didn't work
Any suggestions?
I added some pictures to my Snap story and noticed the quality a lot less than my Note 7 and even my Note 5, but the worst part is for some reason the photo doesn't fill the whole screen.

Lol relax buddy. Maybe im just seeing if anyone else had this issue and also had a solution. Only reason for comparison is using another flagship as an example. I hope whatever has you so upset gets better ?
Would you be able to post Snapchat photos from your other phones to compare? When it comes to the Pixel/XL, what makes their photos stand out is the HDR+ mode. Stock photos don't look as good without it. Maybe that's what you're seeing through Snapchat.

That makes sense because snapchat on Android doesn't actually take photos, it does a screenshot of the lens finder.
Any idea why the photo wouldn't take up the whole screen, could this be due to the camera hardware specs. This is the first Android phone I've seen do that and not sure what's causing it

Could you screenshot and show me how it looks? My buddy got the LG V20 and it's doing the same thing, it fills 90% of the screen but the bottom and top there's a black bar
Greetings,
Yesterday I was comparing my Pixel 2 XL with another one and noticed a huge difference in screen quality my phone colors look really washed out even tho I had both phones set to max brightness and in saturated mode. Also had automatic brightness off on both. If you see the attached picture mine is the one in my hand (right side of the picture). The difference was so big that now I feel like I need to exchange my phone. Anyone else with this problem?
That doesn't look right.. you should check if the setting "color correction" is turned on ?
