Hi,
Last night my phones touchscreen suddenly stopped responding. Everything is working, except the touchscreen. I did not drop the phone and there is no water-damage. (Brought it to a phone-repairshop). My phone is unlocked, rooted and running a pretty old cyanogenmod rom (Android 6.0.1). I was told that it probably is a software related issue. So I wanted to reset my phone. Problem is that my laptop isn't recognizing my phone. When I connect my phone to my laptop, it doesn't show up or it says an error has occured, but my phone does start charging. It looks like it disconnects imediatly. So I am not able to install correct drivers.
Another problem is that I am using a touch recovery, so I also can't reset my phone through the recovery menu.
I also tried to connect in the bootloader menu, but than my laptop doesn't see any device connected.
In ADB i tried the command ''adb devices'', but no device is found.
I tried different laptops and usb-cables.
What can I do to make it working again?
Thanks, Jidde

I'm running cyanogenmod 7 on my evo 4g and when I plug it into a computer it only charges and never prompts me if I want to connect as a disk drive. It used to but now it just stopped. I had a backup of my rom so I put it on my girlfriends evo and hers still connected to the pc like normal but mine will not give me the option to hook up through USB. My computer says unknown device. Any help would be great. I can provide more info if you need.
More info. It gives me code 43 in windows 7. I was able to hook it up in xp but when I tried doing anything it no longer was able to detect the phone. I did a factory reset and it still doesn't work. I'm at a complete loss. I feel the only thing left to do is revert completely back to stock losing root and starting from scratch.
perhaps try completely uninstalling the device from windows in Device Manager. Then plug it in again and let it re-install the drivers

I've tried that on two different computers with windows 7. My gfs fone reads fine with the exact same rom but mine wont.
It seems like the drivers on the phone are corrupted or something. At one point I found a forum that suggested to turn off bluetooth and a few other things. I decided to see if turning off my wifi would do anything and finally my phone showed the usb debugging notification and the mount as usb notification but it wouldn't mount so I restarted my phone and now it's back to doing nothing but charge the phone.
The only difference between the two phones is the rom then? Perhaps make a backup and flash a different rom or re-flash your current rom to see if that helps

I actually took a backup of my rom and put it on my gfs phone and hers worked. we had the exact same rom. I will try installing a different rom however and i'll let you know what happens.
Okay so I had a back up of sinister rom so I restored it and now it asks me if I want to connect as a usb device and so I do and my computer still says usb device not recognized or whatever.
Wow so I tried a backup of sinister rom that I had and suddenly it asked if i wanted to connect as a disk drive but windows was still saying usb device not recognized. I reverted all the way back to stock losing root privileges and it still doesn't work. It appears to me that it is a hardware problem. I don't know what else to do.
ok, so I hooked my phone up to a computer with ubuntu on it and my phone showed up but then when I went to explore the sd card it said permission denied. Then I hooked it up in windows 7 and it showed unknown device under universal serial bus controllers(as usual) but it also had it under modem, which is what I want.
Okay, got it working on this computer. After plugging the phone in several times it still said device not recognized. I have also been pushing ##data# and it was saying the same thing. I decided to shut my phone off one last time and when I hooked it up i pushed ##diag# and now it works. ****ing stupid. Glad it's working now.
UPDATE: Now all of the drivers install when I plug the phone in except the HTC DIAG doesn't appear even when i enter diag mode on the phone. this is the only driver i need installed but i can't install it because the computer isn't picking up that part of the device....This is getting irritating.
Turns out my port is ****ed up. I'm gonna have to order a new one and replace it.
Hey there guys!
Recently I wanted to get some custom ROM on my brother's Gio. It had stock Samsung software on it, did a factory wipe in recovery, worked perfectly, then I installed CWM in the orignal recovery from the SD card - didn't root before. Since then I can't boot into Recovery, however Android booted up. I tried to use some apps in software to get rid of this problem, but ROM Manager said the device is not supported, then I tried another one called Rashr, which had a question relating to recovery I guess instantly on the app's startup, I hit "Reboot" since then the phone is bricked. If I turn it on with just the power button, it shows the Samsung logo, stuck in a bootloop. I can't access recovery, only dumpram, and Download Modes. I tried fixing this with reinstalling the stock stuff through Odin, but the software doesn't detect the phone. Tried installing Kies, standalone USB drivers, multiple Odin versions, different cables, ports, different computer, nothing worked. When I connect the phone to my PC it plays the "device connected sound" but I got a message, that it's an unidentified device. Went into Device manager, where it recognizes it as a Samsung USB device, with the yellow triangle. Tried updating the driver manually from the manufacturer's list, uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers with no luck. Also I tried cleaning the USB port of the phone, still nothing.
The computers I've tried are running Windows 8.1.
Please help me, I think I've tried everything still the device is bricked.
I have same problem.
did you fix it ?
weLL ,sad to say it but ,its neither worth the effort, time or my typing these letters up here to remind you ,that it's neither the end of days or expensive to buy something this side of the stone aGe ! have fun but not with that one ;(

Hello,
All of a sudden my LG G4, Model 815 can't be recognised by computers anymore. Tried different PC's, with different OS, also have tried different cables. I have been using official cable that I found in original package and everything was working good, but now the phone only shows charging and PC's are showing popups that usb device is not recognised.
I was doing a little reasearch and already tried some simpliest things - reinstalling drivers, tried different cables, different PC's. For example my cable works fine with HTC M9, but doesn't do the thing for me anymore. And vice versa HTC cable works for HTC and does not for my LG. Also I found that you must simply select "charging" in top of your left corner and just select MTP. The problems is, that is not shown in my phone anymore. I'm thinking of trying to do factory reset, but before that maybe some of you have some thoughts? Could it be my phone hardware problem? Before a couple of days ago when everyting was working fine, I did not do anyting unusual, also that phone was never rooted, so I can't believe that it is somehow broken. I have it for nearly three months I think.
And yes, I understand that I can simply transfer my files through, for example AirAndroid of similar apps, but I cannot stand that error sounds playing on my laptop when I connect my phone through the cable to charge it.
Now it is running Android OS 6.0 (marshmallow)
LG G4 MTP Transfer Broken
Hello XDA,
I am having the exact same issue. MTP worked fine and then one day stopped. I believe it happened when I tried to transfer photos from phone to computer via USB and File Explorer. The transfer started, then after about 3 images transferred I received an error, "file transfer the system cannot find the file specified", after that the USB logo disappears, it will disappear from Device Manager, it will not even charge via USB. A phone reboot will fix the USB charging, but the option to switch to MTP is gone. I can't which it in in Developer Options either.
I've also tried all the same things LocaSnai suggested. Such as, different cords (3 of them), windows drivers, LG Air Drive, LG PC Suite, and LG Mobile Support Tool, Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant, of which none will update or repair the phone. I've also restarted Media Storage service (force stop and reboot). My Nexus 7 tablet connects perfect every time using the same 3 cables. The wife's i phone 6 also connects without issue.
I have performed a factory reset and MTP worked UNTIL I restored the LG backup. Then it went back to the same issue. Factory reset was a LG Support idea. They said that if it happened after the factory reset and back up restore, it could be a virus or issue with an app. How would we go about detecting what is wrong?
While working on this message I tired a few new things. I am able to get MTP to show up (not work as it used to) by plugging the phone into power, and then unplugging and plugging into USB. Each time, MTP will recognize (I tried all the software above when MTP shows up, none recognize the phone.) If I unplug USB and plug back into USB, MTP will not show up, only charge will. Have to plug into power then back to USB (I am using two cables, one in the brick and one in USB. Nexus 7 will work as expected with the same two cables). Some times I see the Yellow Triangle over the LG UBS entry, but following this tutorial doesn't work: www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-161810/ Uninstalling the driver and letting it reinstall.
My phone is as original as the day I bought it. ie not rooted or tampered with. Android is up-to-date.
Thank you in advance to the kind folks who offer assistance!

I had the same problem (at the same time I had problems with my sim and my message light was showing a dim green..), tried everything, drivers, cables, at the end a different pc and then I rebooted my phone while It was connected to the 2nd pc, after this, every problem was gone and I good see my phone again in windows. Now after a few reboots with and without the connection to a pc, the phone seems to be working as usual again...
(and My phone is also as original as the day I bought it. ie not rooted or tampered with. Android is up-to-date.)
Doorwerth, thank you for the suggestion. Tried that a few minutes ago and still have an issue.
I'm considering this next: LG G4: How to Boot into Download Mode. I think it's a bit extreme.
Phone works normally except it's undetected by pc. It boots itself, boots to twpr (3.0.2.-3) or fastboot. I flashed various roms, after some time detected that couldn't access storage, but didn't actually care - thought it's something with those beta stage roms.
Decided to flash original rom, but neither adb or fastbot are working. Actually, windows even won't detect device. At all. No signal that i connected cable. The phone meanwhile keeps charging. Tried to connect at manjaro linux with same luck - adb devices or fastboot devices won't detect anything.
Formated data in TWRP (thought, that it was encryption i used fault), but no luck. Now i could load to TWRP, bootloader. Is there any possible ways to get phone back to reality before me trying LGUP scary thing?
updated. could that be somehow damaged cable fault?? i checked with my wife's phone (same model) and it's not detected either. it's a nilkin cable, worked perfectly before. could that be possible somehow to damage a cable that it would only charge phone? or i bricked both nexuses?
updated 2. oh my, LGUP also detects nothing. this seems like a bricked phone.
updated. faulty cable.
I have this phone and it completely went bonkers on my a year or so ago. The operating system seems to be completely gone. I have tried things like abd reboot recovery, etc, and options from fastboot, but nothing works.
All the phone does is instantly when I connect power is say No Valid Operating system could be found. The device will not boot. etc
I have sp flash tool, adb drivers installed, and the firmware. I think the flash tool is setup correctly too. But nothing happens when I click download (with the phone connected to computer).
I think part of the problem is the phone turns on when connected to pc, and there no way to turn it off while usb is connected.
Today I got deeper in the phone and found the test point per images and guides on google, and am very unsure how that works... I have a tiny piece of wire I could try attaching to something grounded, but how does that work... and the phone is still probably going to turn on to "No operating system found" as soon as I connect the usb as usual.
Any advice? I am completely new to this.
