Hi,
I want to build my own LG based MM ROM with UX4 and to keep it as simple as it can be with deleting all the unnecessary apps even like Gallery or Music or LG Backup etc.. But the problem is, I have found no up to date guides which provides specific building steps of a non-AOSP based ROM. Can you help me with explaining what I have to do or can you provide some links which shows me how to do it?
P.S.: I am a total beginner, so I even don't know exactly which apps to install and how to install them. It would be very good to explain from the beginning with a language I can understand.
Thx.
It sounds like you are not trying to build a ROM in the sense that you are compiling it from the ground up. It sounds like you just want to customize a stock LG ROM. But I wouldn't even try if you have no experience, especially because someone already made a customizable LG-based ROM for almost every variant.
Oh yea, and someone already ported the G4 UX 4 theme.
Have fun!

Hey all! I just want something to do in my free time and to get something for us Locked Verizon users. I just want to build off of the Cola ROM, kinda like how the guy who made IT-ROM did (Sorry for not remembering your name!)
My first guess would be to set everything up from the fresh Cola rom with a blank SD card mounted while on airplane mode, then make a Nandroid when ready, but there's also one thing I would like to ask along those lines.
What would I do with apps to replace stock vanilla apps, I found some stock MIUI apps that work outside of MIUI itself. Would I just replace them on Root Explorer or anything similar then reboot? I just want to keep things clean instead of having multiple similar apps.
This is going to be quite a slick looking ROM you guys, I promise.
P.S. Does anybody know of a good clone, or even a port of the MIUI Messaging app? There was one called exMessenger from the developers of exDialer, but it was suddenly abandoned, which was going to be a part of my ROM.
EDIT: I also just want to mention, it's not meant to be an MiUI look-alike, MiUI just has a really sleek look to it which is what I'm aiming for, not a clone.
i am looking for a working standard android looking rom and to have good info along with it to install it because i am kinda new to changing roms on to android devices

So, you can make a post asking for a ROM but can't navigate XDA?
Cyanogenmod is your best bet.
Since Huawei didn't sign their apps properly, we can't decompile stock apps and make them look like AOSP ( Stock Android ). We can use Huawei's themer app, but that only goes as far as images no xml's.
Tip: If you have no idea what I was talking about in this post, you are probably not ready for custom Roms and need to do some more reading and learning.
Goodluck.
PAC MAN Rom is the best i used for this phone imo.

I agree with above, Cyanogenmod is by far the best one we have at the moment.

Thank you. My P6 is still very new and I am a bit reluctant to tamper with it, but the lack of native Android SIP is one irritating issue that pushes me closer to flashing something...
Well in my opinion the best one is Pac-Man B120 firmware
MIUI

Great job. Installed without any problem. Keep well.
Good
Like it. Runs smooth, everything that is said to work, works. But some bugs, aside that from gr8Nole's CM12. For example, I can't change keyboard, settings just crash when I'm trying to.
UPD: fixed in 21.01 version
net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME
I am still playing around with this rom when I have time. So far to my surprise, everything is working nice as it should. The only problem I have come across so far though is when I click certain links, they dont seem to parse/click correctly. Several times when click a URL I get the error: net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME An easy way to recreate it is to go to this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 (SuperSU on XDA) and scroll down and click on the Download: SuperSU on Google Play (free) link while using the rom. I would post it here, but I am typing from a PC right now and have to be quick. The link loads just fine on the PC too. I have done this in the past with 4.4.4 roms and last I recall it was working properly. When searching Google for the error, everything relates to code, which is out of my knowledge. A couple forums with people having issues were all unresolved or were told to restart, but it makes no difference. Now it doesn't do this all the time, but it has happened several times which makes it a small annoyance mostly, and assuming it should not do this at all. Hopefully I am not the only one having this issue and it can be fixed. Let me know if there is any other info I can provide.
Hmmm, I cant recreate the issue here...all links open fine...ibopen everything with chrome....what are you using? I find that some links wont open properly with the stock browser...
Is there no t315 support? I can't find any lollipop ROM for my tab 3 t315
No, sorry...we need the device to build for it...as of now we only have a sm t310 ...
I don't mind testing ROMs if you want to develop some I want lollipop for my device lol
Its not a matter of what you want, or what you are willing to do....I am not the dev....or a dev period...I'm going by what they are telling me to tell you.....no device = no build....blind builds are a pain and headache for devs....sorry
Hey Aries...
Thanks for getting back. I felt like a noob when I realized I was using the stock browser. I just been use to PA gapps in the 4.4.4 builds totally replacing the stock browser with Chrome. Since we are using Banks with Validus, is there some way I can manually inject or replace the stock browser with chrome? If it is a pain in the ass or not possible, is there a way to remove the stock browser once Chrome is installed? The same situation applies with the Nova launcher. I slightly prefer the Apex launcher and have the pro version on Google play. In the 4.4.4 roms, I was able to use Root uninstaller to remove leftover stuff I will never use in 4.4.4 roms, but it fails to remove it in LP. It is possible the Root uninstaller app isnt updated for LP, and may test some alternatives. It is just a minor issue figure I would ask to see what your thoughts were on it. If I could somehow replace nova and the stock with Apex and Chrome so when I flash it, it would be great as it is already there without the extra apps I will not use.
Aside from that I finally had some time to flash the latest build 1/31? and it is nice. I ended up doing a clean install since I was not vested much into the previous build anyway. When going through the primary setup, typing the Google account name, etc. It closed unexpectedly and told me it did, but it was at the end. Not sure if it was just a hiccup, but it saved my info from what I can tell and still works great. The dark theme is a perfect fit too. I look forward for future updates and will continue to use them.

I keep stock browser and chrome on both my devices but if you want to remove it you can...validus has system app remover built in...go to developer settings and its right at the top....remove whatever system stuff you don't use or want there browser is in there..then reboot...simple....or you can use apps like titanium backup or rom toolbox pro to do the same thing....I prefer rom toolbox as it does tons of stuff....great app to buy...
As for nova you can remove it the same way if you want to....or just install apex and set it as your default launcher under Home in settings menu...

Testing & Maintenance of Validus roms for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 SM-T311
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 SM-T311.
And I am always ready to experiment on my tab.
So i can test the roms developed for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 SM-T311 and find the bugs and can maintain Validus for this device but i cant build the roms.
And i am also ready to learn how to develop a rom if you people are ready to teach me.
So please develop this great rom for this device model also.
Thank You.

I have already stated many times that team validus only builds for devices we own and operate...sorry. If you learn to build ROMs our source is openly available along with cm source...
Crashing of System UI
The ROM's quite smooth till now, except for the crashing of the System UI whenever the theme is changed.
It's a minor issue and can be considered a negligible one. Other than this, I find the customization options a bit limited than what the other ROMs like SpiritRom (for v4.4), offered.

Many features will be added back over time....no lollipop ROM has all those features yet...
Nice port, only chrome is a bit bugy and a game like crossy road does no t work.
After leaving the G3 and later aquiring an older, kind of busted but still functional G3, I went ahead and got it rooted and ready for a custom ROM.
Seems like the D852 and other variants are definitely not seeing as much support as the D855. (Which is understandable of course seeing as it's the international model.) But I dont ever remember having almost no OMS / Layers options or other ROMs to flash.
Does anyone here know where I might dig up some D852 XenonHD, RR, TipsyOS, or any of those sorts of ROMs? All I see is Octo and AICP, among some modified stock ROMs, and a handful of older deprecated builds..
The d852 has never had as much support as the d855. There are several roms available; LineageOS, cleanrom (google for the google+ community as it is not on xda), beanstalk (part of the cleanrom google+ community), crdroid. Cleanrom supports substratum. I'm not too sure about the others.

Cool thanks for the info! As far as those ROMs go, have you tried the majority of them? I've only tried crdroid, and Fulmics ROM so far. Hope to test out a couple more.
I've tried cleanrom and lineage os. Cleamrom is pretty much stock AOSP with some minor features like advanced reboot menu. I'm running lineage right now and I like it. Lineage apparently has no theme engine yet.

Curious to know if Lineage OS works with Substratum for now before the theme engine comes back..
From some posts I've read substratum does work for some themes. It's the kind of thing you have to try and see if it works.
Make your own

Just ao u know oct os does not officially support d852. But what you can do since most of these are based off cm. Plz do not share the hard work of these developers but i usually just download a d855 rom unzip it andtake the system dat file out of it. Then i download aicp and teplace the system dat with the one i extracted zip it back up. And flash away. Now i do this for personal use so i can test out all these good roms that these developers make.

Hah, doesn't the system.dat file contain almost all of the ROM? From my understanding, you're just flashing AICP with very little changes over and over. Also I'm not sharing their work, I was simply looking for D852 ROMs to improve my broken G3’s battery, but thanks for the post.
Umm no

Hi,
This is a question as well as a suggestion
We p2 users have been bugged with issues or missing features in all custom roms which are not present in stock firmware.
Now my question/suggestion is can we not take the stock firmware with all features enabled and remove all unnecessary apps then replace the entire stock ui with that of custom ROM like resurrection remix or xenon hd or what ever we want?!
Id you find a workaround let us know. I don't have any idea if we can

Even I am wondering about the same thing
I think I can swap the framework.apk and related files and then may need to edit some of the dependencies to apply the changes. Of course this has to be done in the ROM zip file.
Uh I don't see the point actually you're basically referring to a deodexed, debloated ROM with a nova launcher.
Sorry if I got your question wrong. This is what I was able to make up from it.

You are partially correct. But the problem lies in customisation. You see, I am a big fan of extreme customisation. I want to customise the rom entirely. For that, we need either a completely integrated theme engine like miuu or substratum. As you might know, substratum has issues in stock vibe hi.
And xposed is not working for n. Now you tell me what else to do for this.!!!
