I was planning to buy a 5x soon, but the famous bootloop problem is leaving me scared, in my case I would mind it for my country because it does not sell here officially so it is unsecured exchange by LG, just the "Mercado Livre", I can theoretically buy it online, do you guys think it's worth risking and buying it?

Hi Folks,
I live and work in the US, but also travel to Europe a lot.
I want to buy an XDA II (I already have XDA/T-Mobile).
Can anyone tell me where the best place to buy one is (without a contract) and what price I could expect to pay.
I am seeing them on eBay in the US for $900 and thought someone here may be able to point me in the direction of somewhere I could get one for a better price?
I can take delivery in the US or the UK, but want to make sure I have no problems unlocking the phone for use with a T-Mobile SIM card...
Thanks for any help.
Regards,
Geoff
T-Mobile is already selling XDAII, did you think of buying a used XDAII ??
I am in the USA and they aren't selling it here yet - not as far as I am aware... Do you know different?
I would consider a used one if you know where I could get one...
Thanks for your help.

I bought a new one at www.tekntoys.com they were in Canada I buy mine in less than $850 and I am very satisfied about there policy. I did buy the MDA-II instead of i-Mate. They actually shipped my MDA late for a week and as a complement they give me an extra battery and I am happy with thier service. Todd and his emplyees actually friendly I call them from time to to to check my order. They give me everything info that I need on whats going on.
So when you think about buying new one try them.
Does anyone know when we can expect a price drop for the gsm version of the GN? I'd imagine after the holiday season but weeks? Months? I've never really followed a phone like this so I'm not sure when to expect it

I'm assuming you're talking about the GSM version? We've already seen price drops since its been released. Its down to the $685 range from the $700+ when it first came out.
Gotta realize that since US users are importing from the UK, the prices are going to be a bit inflated. It'll of course come down over time just like anything else. But unless this starts getting sold directly in the US, the prices are going to stay high for the next couple months.

That's not a bad price. Negri has really been getting aggressive/competitive on pricing considering they were one of the more expensive ones when the phone first came out.
Its up now at Negri for $644.50 and On Amazon new ones are selling at 658, prices are coming down but slowly.. I am still patient, its hardly 2 weeks since the launch in US!! Considering LTE + 32GB verizon retailing at $650, this should cost something like $550 for 16GB when it launches on a GSM carrier.
It won't fall through $600, unless there are some coupon codes or something like that. They are selling for $600+ unlocked in countries that have it on sale officially. Of course in a few months, you can easily find one for less than $600 used or refurbished. But if you are looking for a new one, don't expect sub-600 price anytime soon.

Blame Google and Verizon for striking a deal that included them not being able to sell the GSM version in the USA.

is there a benefit from buying it from a place like Expansys vs Amazon? I know Expansys helps out with middleman for warranty issues but I could solve that by buying insurance from Ensquared right?
Or am I completely off on that?

Everyone has a different experience it seems but most importers are offering some help by being a middle man for warranties.
3rd party phone insurance like squaretrade, etc. is completely different because those are going to cover accidental damage and have more options, whereas the factory warranty will only cover defects and things.

We'll see I guess. I'm not expecting it to be down near $600 any time soon either but I'm hopeful. Right now Negri is leading the charge at $645 with others coming down as well. Compare that w/ the pre-order and first week prices that were in the $750 range. That obviously doesn't mean it'll drop another $100 anytime soon but just something to think about.

So would I even need the manufacturers warranty if ensquared offers one?
http://www.ensquared.com/catalog/phone-insurance/2-year-phone-insurance-smartphone
Sorry for the questions, I've never imported a phone I've always had carrier insurance

Basically the only reason why you'd want to have the factory warranty is for from-factory defects and issues. You could potentially get these issues fixed free of cost from the manufacturer, whereas every claim with a 3rd party insurer can carry a deductible and go against your yearly claim allowance (aka you could pay out of pocket for things that should be fixed for free).
But like I said, I'd go look and see what peoples experiences with different importers is regarding factory warranty. My understanding is that Negri will help facilitate a factory warranty return (you ship to Negri, they ship to the UK for fix, ship back to Negri, ship back to you). I'd assume others do this also but I can't say for sure. Just going by what I've read.
so im looking to sell my extra nexus CDMA it is in almost perfect condition accept that best buy ruined the volume down button when they put on the a zagg screen protector
so im looking for ideas on how much i could get for it.
replacement part is only ten bucks, just dont feel like doing it my self
Well you'll get WAY more than $10 back in return for just fixing the issue yourself before selling it. Most people won't buy it broken, even if it is just a $10 fix.

GSM model has a much higher resale value. The Verizon ones have been in the mid $400's for a while.

Sorry for the OT, but 500 for a basically new GSM GN? Is that a good deal or normal? Because that seems cheaper than anyone is selling on the internet. (retail, I mean. I don't know anything about 'used')

You can find them retail around $600 shipped. I got mine for $565 with a coupon. So used in the low $500 range isn't crazy for GSM.
Hi everyone,
I have these 3 options to choose from
$529.99 from newegg.com with 3 months warranty (no manufacturer warranty) - till March 22nd
$530~ amazon.com with no warranty
$569.99 Expansys USA with 1 year manufacturer warranty
do you guys think i should worry about the manufacturer warranty? i have never had to use it for any smartphone in the past. also it might be an issue to get the additional ADH warranty from ensquared or squaretrade.
Can anyone of you confirm buying your nexus from newegg.com or amazon.com and still be able to get the additional ADH warranty from any of the above places?
(the servicenet warranty from newegg.com does not seem that good. so i am not interested in it that much)
Try Negri as well, very popular e-tailer. Paying a little more and having the manufacturers warranty is worth it IMO. Some will disagree but this is a $500+ phone, you be the judge.

that's what is making the decision difficult. negri is selling it for $613.50 and they don't price match currently. I searched xda and found everyone mentioning that expansys and negri are both similar.
I was leaning towards expansys because of 1 year warranty also but i just wanted to know from someone who might have had to use that warranty to get better idea.
thanks for your input
At Negri you can just buy the CAN version. It's cheaper and you can flash it to yakju when you get it. There are no other differences. Just a thought if you're going to go with Negri. I bought that one and its great.

Good to know that. so would you say buying from negri is better than buying from expansys USA?

Couldn't tell you, I've only had a good experience with Negri. Have never used Expansys.
Thanks buddy
Just keep an eye out on slickdeals; that's what i did. In my case, i found out negri was selling the canadian version for $560 with coupon, so that was it.

Yep that was awesome. I got it for $565 from them 2 months ago.
thanks but i have been waiting since they launched the device hoping that AT&T will pick it up on subsidy but finally got tired of waiting and ordered from expansys yesterday.
hopefully i can receive it before the weekend.
thanks everyone for all the suggestions
I picked mine up off amazon, you do have a 30 day return window, be sure that prime icon is there
Have you tried ebay? There are vendors who are in Hong Kong that sells the Galaxy Nexus much cheaper than anywhere else right now. Their ratings are good and they claim to offer 12 month of warranty on their end.
I messaged them about the specifics about the warranty, and all you have to do is ship it to them and they'll do everything there. They didn't give me the exact specifics but I'm sure they are legit.
I've been wanting a HTC One X for a while now. I was going to get the North American version, but 16GB just won't cut it (I have about 7GB of music itself, and that's always increasing). So I turned to the international version. The thing is, I've been reading about a lot of problems. Is it worth buying if there are so many problems with the international version? Also, does anyone know if I can buy the international version online off contract? I checked Amazon, but they only sell it without warranty. I don't think it's worth taking the risk, buying it without warranty. Any input is appreciated!

But I'm going to be buying new, from an authorized seller. So I wouldn't have to check for anything right. If something is wrong, I could get a replacement. The only problem is I don't know who sells it unlocked and off contract with warranty. :s
