Bluetooth headphones with Android 7.1 - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, guys!
Recently I decided to install Android 7 ROM but have a strange bug with my bluetooth headphones.
It's Bose QC 30. After pairing they with my phone I hear no sound, but if I turn off and then turn on bluetooth on the phone the headphones work correctly. If I turn off and then turn on my headphones and they will connect to my phone, I hear no sound again
If my phone connects to my headphones - all right.
If my headphones connect to my phone - no sound.
When I used Android M, my headphones worked fine.
I tried any ROM with Android N: CM, lineage, Cypher (AOSCP) and many others, each of it has this bug.
I tried to use another headphones (QCY QY12) and very old bluetooth speaker (LG Music Flow P7), they worked correctly.
I don't understand, where is this bug in android N or in Bose firmware.
Any suggestions to fix it? Thanks!
Can I use anything to debug my bluetooth connection and read logs of it?
HTC One M8 (HTC__A07)
S-OFF
Firmware: 6.12.401.4

I would say its from the headphones because are probably old model.I have strange problems with Bluetooth headphones and speakers after upgrading to android 7.My opinion is that they are not compatible with the new version of the android.

The headphones are a new model of September 2016 but they probably use a old bluetooth chip. Although I tried to use lg music flow p7 bluetooth speaker witch is too older than the headpones and it works fine.
It's a very strange issue.

Yes , strange indeed. Sadly I don't think there is fix for that

And I notice the simmilar issue with my laptop (macOS Sierra 10.12.2): at the first time when the headphones connect, they use SBC codec, if I reconnect they then they use AAC codec. May be Android 7 has a bug to work with SBC codec?

lollipop 5.0.2 Skype doesn't use bluettoth microphone

hello all
I have two problems (for the moment ) after upgrade to lollipop (nexus 7 2013 LTE, root).
One--memory report, is resolved.
second- Skype is not properly using Bluetooth headsets,it still grabs audio from the internal mic, rather than from the Bluetooth headset(plantronics voyager).very disturbing to speakers, which were used with great quality of noise cancelation of plantronics.
After a few search, we have millions of threadswith this problems, but old. With 4.4.3 all was perfect.
Solutions, ideas?
Clear,IMO, is a bug...
me too again.
The problem is not only in skype, same simptom in another aplication, Rynga voip.
Is used the tablet microphone instead of bluetooth microphone, but the soud is received in bluetooth.
I tried to change the bluetooth settings, but without results.
very upsetting...
Hello
Is my thread...I ask, I respond.
Sorry if I am a little frustated, but is strange how nobody use the N7 2013 with bluetooth headset.
My story:
- upgrade at lollipop 5.02 stock...bluetooth plantronics legend don't function
- downgrade at kk 4.4.4....all ok, same version of skype 5.1xxx
- upgrade at Cyanogenmod 12 Nightlies one of the last version..same skype 5.1xx, again ALL FUNCTION!!
- upgrade last night the skype to version 5.2xxx...bingo...THE BLUETOOTH DON'T FUNCTION.I hear the ring in headset, but when the persons respond, the bluetooth became dead, only tablet mic and speakers function.
What to understand: is a problem of android , is a problem of skype?Exist the solutions?
To be continued.....

[BUG] Bluetooth music audio stuttering/skipping after Nougat upgrade on Lenovo P2A42

Hi,
This is a very annoying thing I am facing as I am an avid music listener and I love to listen to music in my wire free bluetooth headphone.
Everything was working fine until I upgraded to the official Nougat version from Marshmallow in my Lenovo p2 32GB/4GB.
The audio keeps stuttering and skipping for some mili secs every now and then while listening to music.
I have tested my bluetooth headphone with three other devices and it is working fine with them. I have also tested it two different music player : Google play music and pulsar plus. Both the cases the same problem is happening.
I did a factory reset also but that did not prevent the problem.
Also whenever I am connecting my blutooth headphone, the volume is automatically set to the highest.
Tried to unpair/pair my bluetooth device also, no luck.
The stuttering problem is not happening when I am playing video file via MX player with my bluetooth headphone or while listening to music with a wired headphone.
I took logs from developers setting dated 07/04/2017 :
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5ucK93ckWnBTUZqZkhUVF9GWEE --> Btsnoop_hci.log
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5ucK93ckWnBdEdKMUJTODRGdk0 --> Interective Bug Report.
Please let me know with a definite solution. This is making my life live harder with P2.
Regards,
Krishnendu
I have same problem with MM and now(with nougat) that 's better, all work fine but when i connect my headphone the sound is at minimum and i must turn volume higher manually on the phone but after, no problem!

Bluetooth issues

Hi. Wondering if anybody could help. When I connect my oneplus 5T to my car I have problems. When it starts to call it disconnects the bluetooth from the car completely. However the call continues on the phone which is a complete pain as you cant use it through the hands free. Car is a BMW 630CI with pro nav if that helps.
Many Thanks
i first had problems to connect to my audi A3 bluetooth ... it simply didn´t find it
after trying again and changing the bluetooth audio codec it suddenly worked ...
Idk if it will work for you, but you can try changing the codec and se if it helps
Hi. Ive tried all 3. It connects fine and I can see my contacts but as soon as I hit dial it disconnects from the car.
Very strange.
Thanks for the suggestion tho
with mine in my car it every now and then gives me this a crackling sound.. Kind of irritating, I'm hoping a software update down the road fixes this.. I've tried all 3 codecs
Having issues with Bluetooth connection on my Prius Prime as well. It always disconnects, I had to disable Bluetooth on the phone and re-able it for it to work.
I experience the same with my Boss QC35. First connection, audio breaks with lots of noise and had to disable it and re-enable it.
Still found no solution. Hope the next update sorts it out as the bluetooth seems a mess.
So after looking around, there are issues with certain codecs and devices connecting being posted in the OP community forums. My Sony WH1000xm2 headphones stutter when using AptX HD. My JBL Everest 750NC's - if you turn the volume up too high, they disconnect from the phone. In my Cadillac ATS, whenever you place a call it'll stay connected, but you won't hear anything, and the other user can't hear you either.
I think they've acknowledged the issues and are working on them, but after putting Oreo on my Moto G5 Plus and Oreo's ability to change between all codec's on the fly (including native LDAC support!) I'm anxiously awaiting Oreo to be 'officially' released.
I'd say just be patient.. I'm sticking with this phone because I think it'll be worth it in the end. Wish I had better news!
so I resolved my Bluetooth issues by flashing FreedomOS. Now there is no intermittent crackling sound now and there is no issues at all ymmv, this was just my experience.
Thanks. Will wait for Oreo and then try different roms if it continues.
on FreedomOS before, it was giving me headache re-connecting to my Subaru car bluetooth, like after you shutoff engine, go somewhere and come back, unless you manually force connecting to the car, it barely auto reconnect back.
And also takes so long to get data sync from my Fitbit chargeHR to the app.
I don't think this kind of bluetooth issue related to what rom we have but the kernel and more specifically BT firmware.
-----edit-------
My friend also got BT issue when he tried to connect to BT headset. Hope Oneplus get something fixed on new oreo or updates
Just an update. Since upgrading to the official Oreo rom my problems have disappeared and my phone now works fine with the car Bluetooth.
Chris
I still have problems. Pause and unpause, and the track restarts. After ending a phone call the track restarts. 2018 RAM, Uconnect
With stock ROM 4.7.2 bluetooth connected only for a few seconds with my Audi A6. With every following stock ROM version it didn't even connect.
I tried every single Audio-Codec and the different settings in developer options - nothing helped. Once I cleared data & cache from the bluetooth system apps followed with a soft brick
Hi all,
Had same issues with my Hyundai ix35 and oneplus 5t (Nougat), tracks skipping, distorted audio in calls, etc... Tried emptying bluetooth cache, switching audio codecs without success. Now I just received the OTA update to Oreo (8.0), Oxygen rom 5.0.3 and it solved the issues!!! Yeay, no more auxilary cable hanging around !

I started from scratch but the issue persists.
I am having the same issue in my car. It no longer displays track information and the connection is not very stable. I will try switching the codec and report back.
i don.t have any volume control from the phone basically when i connect it to my car stereo
i can control the volume for the first 4-5 clicks ... and then the slider moves but there is no difference in the volume
i have to turn the volume from the stereo almost to the max
whit my old samsung tablet works great ... i have maybe 50% more volume then with my phone
tried all codecs ...

Bluetooth headset issue - no voice

Hi all,
Hope you can help me..
I've been having issues with BT headset(s) since my Honor 7x was upgraded to Oreo BND-L21 8.0.0.330(C432).
The behavior is the following..
I pair the BT headset with 7X and everything goes smoothly. When i check info section on the paired device i see that both, phone and media audio are enabled. If i play the music - everything is OK.
The issue starts when I trigger a call via 3rd party app like Whatsapp, Viber, Hangouts etc..
What happens is that the other person can hear me but I can hear them. It seems like the communication is going only one way.
If in the middle of the call i switch to phone microphone (inside app) - everything goes back to normal.
I tried with two different BT headsets and behavior is the same (both headsets work properly on another phone). One other thing to mention is that all these apps also work properly with a wired headset.
So far i tried to disable Volte, disable Wifi and perform calls via mobile network, wipe cache partition, clear data/cache for BT app, enable/disable google assistant, change permission, unpaired all devices.. But so far nothing worked...
The only thing that is left is to perform a hard reset but I would really leave this as a last resort.
Has anyone had this issue ?
Thanks!!
Having the same issue with my anker soundbuds flow headset.

Don´t bother with the hard reset, it won´t help.
In fact i´ve even replaced the phone, and on the new phone the story was the same: After the upgrade to 8.0, when a phonecall is made via App (Skype or Whatsapp) there is no sound in the BLuetooth headset, while microphone works perfectly. However is a normal phonecall is made, the headset works two ways.
The problem is reproducible on my several headsets (LG HBS-730 that uses BT 3.0 and Anker SoundBuds Life that use 4.1). The anker soundbuds flow, that were mentioned above, are also BT v4.1. Nevertheless, if i connect my Anker Soundcore 2 speaker (that uses BT v4.2) the two way communication works perfectly. Also it works on my EasyAcc speaker BT075 (BT v4.0) and Taotronics TT-BH12 headset (also BTv4.0).
So I´d assume that the update was tested only on 4.0 and 4.2 BT devices, but not on older or 4.1
So as for the solutions, i hope this problem will be addressed in the next update (hopefully soon) or consider trying the headset with BT 4.2 or later.
Update: It also does not work on speaker Aukey SK-M8 (which also reports to have BTv4.0) - strange. Maybe it is not really 4.0 or my theory with BT versions is wrong.
Thanks a lot for your feedback.
In the meantime i did some more testing with both bluetooth headsets and managed to get one working.
The headset i managed to "fix" is Plantronics voyager legend.
What i did was: downloaded "plantronics hub" app and in the settings I disabled "HD sound". By doing that everything started working correctly.
The only downside is the sound quality - it is so bad that I just decided to use a wired headset.
Hopefully this will be fixed in the next update :crying:

Those are Bluetooth v3.0 headset. Obviously the problem is with the applied profiles.
I think it would be nice to report this problem to Huawei/Honor. I really don't know whether they check this forum, more reports they get - more chances of a fix.

This morning I received an update to 331 - BND-L21 8.0.0.331 (C432).
I retested all of my BT headsets (including moving Plantronics back to "HD audio") and - everything works like a charm !!!
In the release doc it states that this update contains only a July 2018 google security patch but i guess they also fixed the BT issue.
Anyhow, I am happy again !
Cheers!

Bluetooth Headphones Issue

I have an issue with a new pair of bluetooth headphones i have just purchased. Specifically media playback sound quality. It is utterly woeful, with distortion, hiss, and cackles/pops continually over any media player or videos. Sound quality on calls is fine. I know that the headphones work, as i have used them on other devices and they function fine. My S9 is currently up to date.
I initially though that it was something to do with volume limiter as the weird thing is occasionally when they immediately connect and i play some music they work fine, then the quality drops as soon as the limiter notice pops up. I have checked though and the limiter is actually turned off. Turning it back on doesn't solve the issue either. I've gone so far as to wipe the whole cache partition and nuke all the caches, but that hasn't helped either.
Is there a known issue that I am unaware of ? Hopefully with a resolution, or other obvious steps i could try that people could recommend, as I am out of ideas now.

i flip back and forth between a few different BT headsets and never have this issue and have also used the same headsets on several devices in my bag-o-tricks. The phone does use a DAC for music where its pretty raw for the phone convo, which could explain why calls are ok, but music isnt. Is this your only pair of BT headphones? Do you know anyone who will help you test them on another phone?

I do actually have another pair of bluetooth headphones i use for my PC, i will try them with the phone tonight, though I am sure that the headphones themselves are fine. They work with my watch without any issues.

I have experimented a bit more, and think that this is a codec issue. If I enable the developer menu, and switch to another codec (not the SDC if defaults to) them restart the headset they work fine. Problem is that it always defaults back to SDC whenever the headphones are disconnected for a period of time. I can't see how to force the use of another codec, both AAC and LDAC for example work absolutely fine with the headset. Though this is quite a long process just to get the headphones to work each and every time i want to use them.

if im not mistaken, the default codec is controlled by the stack overflow. what version of android are you using?

I last updated 02nd August 2019. I have just checked again, and apparently running the latest version available OTA.
I couldn't tell you when the bluetooth sound issue started, as this is the first time in a long time i have connected any bluetooth headphones to my phone. I think previously connected the other headphones i have yet to check again, but am not certain.

gotcha. i also understand youre probably at work like many of us poor schmucks such as myself, which would make it kinda hard to test things out right this moment. But do any of your coworkers have a BT speaker you can connect to to try to replicate the issue there as well? Im mainly trying to eliminate variables at this point. You might try flashing the most current Odin files with the "HOME_CSC" as to not erase your user data. Itll over-write the code for the OS and so forth and nuke any software issues that might be causing this
I've now tested another set of bluetooth headphones and they work absolutely fine, they default into the aptX codec. Is that determined by what the device primarily works with ?

yes, the codec is changed by the DAC within the phone to be the best suited to whatever device its connecting to. What kind of headphones are you using that get the garbage sound? I have a pair of Tozo T10's, which are the off-brand individual ear buds from amazon for $50 and they sound very good. I also have a pair of maxsonic bluetooth buds which cost $17 that are connected to each other by a wire and they sound equally as good.
