Lollipop to Marshmallow - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I'm still in lollipop blobs and would like to update to marshmallow. Can I just flash the latest mm stock rom to any stock recovery? Or do I need to flash the first mm stock rom release before flashing the latest stock?
Edit: Does upgrading to mm makes the bl locked?

Hello,
You could grab the latest full stock MM to the root of SD card and let FOTAService to detect it and choose the package. It'll automatically reboot to recovery to flash updates.
I successfully updated to stock MM .134 from .196 LL without relocking bootloader. Some may have their bootloader re-locked.
Regards.

Flashing different ROMS - Marshmallow down to Lollipop

N7 2013 LTE -> I was using factory Marshmallow and just unlocked bootloader, rooted and installed TWRP.
Can I flash any ROMs now? eg going back to a Android 5.1.1 ROM? Is it just a simple ROM flash?
Yes. Do check the bootloader version anyways. It should've been updated to marshmallow version, shouldn't be a problem

Thanks. So as the boot loader is updated for marshmallow, I don't have to downgrade the bootloader or radio when going back to lollipop?

Marshmallow Upgrade after Bootloader Unlock

I flashed back to lollipop from marshmallow and unlocked the bootloader. Can I use OTA to safely upgrade? If not, how do I go back to marshmallow and keep root?
You will have to root and unlock again if you want MM back. Flash the LP to MM firmware. You use the same process to root and unlock as you did on lp

What if i want to get back to stock?

Hello XDA just had a question I wanted to clear up. I've had my z play -02 variant for a while now and I'm currently running lineage is 15.0. Just wanted to know if there is a way to get back to complete stock? I know the bootloader can't be locked, but is there a way to regain stock and still get motos ota's? Or is it impossible to get ota's after you've unlocked the bootloader?
OTA is working on unlocked device with STOCK ROM.
Try to flash STOCK ROM via fastboot or RSD tool.
Warning: do not try to flash MM version, OTA update from MM to N cause hard brick.
Try to flash latest 7.1.1 STOCK. I used this stock rom https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620757667 on my 1635-02 RETEU dualsim version.

Thank you!
When I try to flash it, rsd tool doesn't recognize my phone (probably because I'm in Windows 10) what's the command to flash it via fastboot?
you must be in bootloader mode for flashing.
maybe you do not have important drivers installed. I am using - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
look at this before installing drivers https://www.howtogeek.com/167723/ho...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
adb commands are different for each version of stock rom, because stock roms have different files to flash.
sorry for my english.

Can i install update manually even if i have unlocked bootloader.

Hi i am a zplay user i have unlocked bootloader and i am in 6.0.1 and i have stock recovery. Can i download 7.0 and install manually please help me
if you have stock rom and unlocked BL, you should recieve official OTA updated. But yes, you can flash 7.0 or 7.1 manually.

Question about going back to stock

ok, I have Moto Z play XT1635-02 and when I purchased the device it had MM installed, I dont remember the exact version. tired to wait for the nougat update I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP from alberto, then I installed a stock nougat ROM from @flashallthetime (7.1.1). before that I created a NANDROID backup with all the configurations I had in MM. as you can see I never touched the bootloader, but now I want to install a custom ROM with Android Oreo, but it requires a nougat bootloader, I guess my bootloader is from MM, so, my question is: can I restore the NANDROID backup, download a MM stock firmware and just flash the recovery, so I can get the OTA's again and get my bootloader updated to nougat?
thanks in advance
