Hi,
Problem starting oneplus 3, let me explain.
1) purchased oneplus3, 4 months ago.
2) Rooted,updated oxygen 3.2.8 with TWRP recovery3021 and super SU 2.74-2
3) updated oxygen4.00 with twrp32128 and super SU 2.79SR2 everything was fine.
4) Received OTA update through VPN for oxygen 4.0.1 (30mb), installed but unable start instead it was always going into twrp mode.
5) i changed twrp recovery back to 3021 and install stock oxygen 3.2.8,was working fine.
6) Now i wanted to UNROOT the device and back to stock so that i can get OTA Oxygen 4 and 4.0.1.
7) i followed steps below,
a) downloaded oxygen 3.2.1 and stock recovery.img
a) fastbootloader, and connect device.
b) fastboot devices
c) fastboot fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
d) fastboot oem lock - when i used this command and accept YES, screen got black and no further instruction for ADBsideload.
8) i used to restart the device in recovery but black screen, fastboot loader working.
FASTBOOT MODE
PRODUCT NAME - ....
VARIANT - MTP UFS
BOOTLOADER VERSION -
BASEBAND VERSION -
SERIAL NUMBER - .....
SECURE BOOT - enabled
DEVICE STATE - locked
9) and if i start the device in normal it asked for screen pattern lock but my existing unlock pattern doesnt work.
10) by using all the chance for screen pattern unlock it showed DECRYPTION UNSUCCESSFULL, clicked on RESET PHONE but again screen black in recovery mode.
11) NOW if i start my device it again shows DECRYPTION UNSUCCESSFULL and asking for RESET PHONE......
What to do now.....
regards,
Zahir

Device is back to stock, this method is used by One plus asstance for unbrick hard bricked device by remote control your PC. Then device is back to completly stock. No root no custom recovery etc. You Can now use OTA for update or using adb sideload or manually flash the entire ROM from sdcard. Thank you for appreciate :good:

just wanted to highlight the things you did that caused the issue
1- flashing the stock rom through twrp, it's possible specially with the latest TWR0-11 but not advisable, you better always flash stock recovery and then sideload rom (full rom not update) and then fast boot TWRP back and reflash root... any other method always causes issues...
2- the 30mg updates do not work on a rooted device
3- unrooting without immediately sideloading rom will always cause the black screen and loop to recovery, it's not required to unroot unless you want to go back to full stock experience...
4- this the biggest problem you made, you relocked the devices bootloader, you also did it while the device has a lot of issues (some mentioned above) so the device bricked instantly, if you are planning on unlocking the device again ...NEVER NEVER relock the device again , there's no need to do that , all you need to do to go back to a full stock experience is to wipe everything in TWRP , flash stock recovery then wipe everything again from there, then sideload full rom (latest stable version) , then for good majors in the new rom recovery wipe everything agian and boot to system and from system do a factory reset. then recharge your device to 100% and re encrypt it if it's not...after that you're 100% on a full stock exerience and will receive ota and it'll work... and at that state only (without root or TWRP) you can relock the bootloader (which is gain not necessary at all, there's no benefit to it)

Hi, I have a Nexus 5X with unlocked bootloader and with rooted. Since some days ago, I have a notification with a security update, but with the custom recovery it is not automatically installed.
Is there any way to install this OTA updates?
If you install TWRP (which you should, IMHO), it is easy. I'm not at all experienced, but I did it without losing any data. But with TWRP, you can do a full backup first. Everything I've done came from this single guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206930

The updates will not install on a rooted phone. Updates check if your software is stock and if not it will not update, includes recovery partition. Your best bet is to just update the ROM you're on. The ROM developer typically updates his base on a regular basis especially if it's one of the more active ones like Pure Nexus or Chroma among others.
If you really need Google updates to happen then you must go back to stock image and updates will work then.
Edit #2: If you are rooted but stock w/ TWRP, just unroot and flash stock recovery and the updates will work or you can ADB sideload the update zip w/ TWRP.

The link I provided has explicit instructions. I remembered wrong, though. You don't need TWRP, you need to do it in Fastboot mode, so you need to find the latest Fastboot program, or install the Android SDK. Then follow step 10 in the link I provided.
Hi guys ☺,
I bought today G4 eu model,it came with Marshmallow 6.0 V20d version.
I want to root it because of Greenify and Xposed,to increase the battery time, maybe later to flash some rom but...
There is a lot of topics on this subject,I started to read but I'm lost right now...as far as I saw,I can't root Marshmallow without unlocking the bootloader, only Lollipop, right?
Is it a big trouble to go back from MM to LP?
I'm not new in this flashing and rooting stuff,I had (still have) a Motorola Razr XT910,I flashed it 100 times for sure for 3.5 years but I didn't had to unlock the bootloader (it's impossible anyway) and there's a custom recovery Safestrap, modified Twrp which allows to flash and use 6 different roms, from JB to MM,without changing the kernel...
I will be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction,to give me some useful links etc.
And is there some list which procesess are safe to freeze with TB and which ones I can greenify?
Oh,and the bloatware too...
Sorry if I'm demanding but I want to bring out the best from this phone
Thank you in advance

Hi,
root without unlocking bootloader works only on lollipop, right. Not sure if u can downgrade, but when, u will use "LGUP" tool with the "H81510D.kdz" file. Maybe there exists a pre-rooted kdz to flash.
If u want to root android 6, u need a unlocked bootloader. Rooted Android 5.1.1 or unlock bootloader with rooted android 6.x.x
Ok,I successfully unlocked the bootloader but now I'm stuck with rooting and installing Twrp...
I've downloaded BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247 and TWRP-3.0.0.0-H815+ but there's a lot of metods,which one should I use?
Flash SuperSu+Twrp with stock recovery?
Install Twrp with adb command and then flash SuperSu with Twrp?
Install both with adb command?
I also saw somewhere that I must flash some other kernel that is already rooted...
I just need root and the Xposed for now, help me guys!
Im also Confused..Where can i find rooted kernel?
I already did this Method u said...But I got Boot Loop
Then I revover my phone with Lg Bridge
We need to find this.....I also Had Android MM with V20d

In my case I wasn't able to flash recovery on the stock kernel, I had to flash boot.img unpacked from the custom kernel like SimpleGX and only then I was able to flash recovery and full kernel through it.

the method i followed was-
1. boot into twrp recovery with adb command(you need to have the twrp.img file in PC and also copy it in internal memory of your phone with SU)
2. flash systemless root with twrp
3. reboot
4. install flashify
5.flash twrp.img from your phone.
6. done
but there aren't as much benefits of rooting as any other phone. viper4android doesn't work. spirit fm doesn't work. xposed doesn't work properly.(these 3 were the main reasons for which i rooted)

I didn't know i could flash something other than .zip files with twrp.
As for viper4android i tried normal way, flashed it with twrp, flashed extreme music mod with v4a fix. None seem to work. The drivers never get installed.
Xposed i haven't tried. I was in process of getting more information about it by reading various threads. But all seem to point to problems like bootloop, fc and Bluetooth issues. Can you guide me towards the best version of xposed for v20d with way to avoid problems or with as less problems as possible?

I think doesn't need to install recovery to root the phone.
Just this:
1) adb reboot bootloader
2) fastboot boot TWRP-2-8.7.0-h815.img
Wait a second and it will open, on the phone, the recovery.
Once open go to Advanced -> ADB sideload and take a swipe to start it where it says "Swipe to Start sideload".
Now on the PC write
3) adb sideload BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247.zip
( If it says after the instalation to install supersu etc just abort it)
And then, when installation is complete, press "Reboot System"
I rooted it this way, without install TWRP Recovery

Yeah - but the question has to be asked - why unlock the bootloader and root and not install TWRP? If you've got as far as unlocking the bootloader you might as well make life easier for yourself and install TWRP - that way anything you want to flash in the future can be done without being tethered to the PC, and also allows you to take proper full system image backups etc.

Of course , i agree with you. By the way, we can't root g4 on m6 without unlocked bootloader.
And finally, i decided to pass twrp on my phone, for every file i want to install from twrp, and not every time to boot from pc
You're right
p.s. the first thing i did after twrp installed, was to install g5 live wallpapers
Hey all,
Trying to get my TWRP recovery back after upgrading to M.
Flashed recovery a number of different ways but always end up back at the stock recovery after flashing. I've tried going straight into it before rebooting etc with no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks

if your trying to flash recovery from your LP to get back to old back-ups in LP - you have to downgrade to LP first
There is only a recovery for flashing a patched SU / boot to give you root in MM.
Thanks for the reply.
Not trying to get back to LP backups. Just trying to get TWRP back on the phone again.

To flash twrp recovery, your bootloader needs to be unlocked. For now, there's no way to unlock the bootloader on MM. The only option is to downgrade to LP if you need twrp or customs roms.
I hope you understand my explanations.

this will work as a temporary recovery and you will be able to install SU and Xposed.
Here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3404321
**WARNING** You need to have background knowledge of adb, fastboot, twrp, sideload.. before you can go on with this thread.
1. All credits go to @shakalaca. If you like his work, please make him a small donation for encouragement.
2. Do it at your risk and I won't be able to answer your questions.
3. There is no unlock for Android 6.0 atm. Device will be locked once you upgrade to 6.0.
4. Good thing is you can always downgrade to Lollipop to unlock your device following the instructions in this thread.
5. Flashing the attached SuperSU file modifies stock boot.img. In case you receive an OTA file later, do
**REMEMBER to FLASH BACK TO STOCK Android 6.0 BOOT.IMG** to unroot before upgrading to official Android 6.0.
Root:
1. Make sure your zenfone 2 is unlocked before upgrading to Android 6.0. If you upgrade to 6.0 from locked Lollipop, you have to downgrade to unlock it, then upgrade to 6.0.
2. Once you are in Android 6.0, fire the following command to boot twrp. is the twrp recovery file. This TWRP is recommended.
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot boot
Click to collapse
3. adb sideload the attached SuperSu file in twrp. /OR install the SuperSU in twrp if you saved it in device storage.
4. reboot system. You will see a warning screen saying "Your device has failed Verification". Ignored it and wait for the reboot.
5. Done
Xposed:
1.Flash the attached Xposed file from twrp.
2.use Material Design Xposed Installer: Download Xposed Installer here
Downgrade:
Refer to Asus Zentalk Forum and grab the required files from there.
**Note that the first commnad line has been revised by @shakalaca and it should work without bricking the device.
fastboot flash token bom-token.bin
fastboot flash ifwi ifwi_ann_a0-mofd_v1-ze551ml.bin

Then you can flash back stock recovery(.184 recommended), wipe the device(cache/userdata/system) and then sideload back stock LP or MM as you wish. OR, you can flash custom recovery/boot/system.img start from here.

Hi, I have bought used here in Italy a op3, when turn on in the display I can see a message about the bootloader unlock, and so I think that the previously owner have unlocked the unit. Now I have a problem with the update, I have tried with ota and with USB but the phone stop the update and show me the message installation failed, then I can only reboot. How I can relock the Bootloader? Thanks in advance for your help.
before you re-lock the bootloader you should make sure that you are running the stock oxygenOS rom and receovery, see below:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...lus-3-and-go-back-completely-to-stock.456232/
thanks for your reply, I, think that the phone now running with OxygenOS 3.2.2 stock, so I can directly relock the bootloader? If I do an hard reset the bootloader will be relocked?

you might be running OOS 3.2.2 stock but still have a custom recovery - boot into recovery first just to confirm that you have the stock recovery as well
still if you have a custom recovery, it's easier to get update. Just download the full rom and flash it with TWRP (I don't think there is another custom recovery), it won't wipe the data. Even if the previous owner did a slight modification on OOS 3.2.2, it will overwrite it.
updates can be downloaded many days before the OTA appear on the phone.
Ok I think that I have a custom recovery, TWRP working with non rooted phone? I have checked and my phone not have root. Please can you explain how I can update through TWRP?
if you want to stay unlocked and use TWRP that's fine, but note that you will need to MANUALLY UPDATE every time if you're on the stock OOS ROM.
if you are not comfortable with this, follow the instructions on the link i sent you to get back to full stock with stock recovery as well, so updates OTA work correctly.

sorry, im not really sure what you mean, but if you're following the instructions on that post step by step and verifying what you get it should work.
You need to successfully flash the full zip to get the stock rom+recovery on there
ok sorry for my confusion. Please can you explain to me the right way to update a bootloader unlocked phone?

the bootloader being locked or unlocked is irrelevant - your issue is your non-stock recovery.
the full Oxygen OS zip includes the stock recovery from OnePlus, which OTA updates are programmed to use to automatically update your phone.
since you have TWRP recovery instead, you'll need to download and manually flash OxygenOS
download the full ZIP for 3.2.4 from this thread and flash it via TWRP recovery:

I have been digging through these forums, but can't find an straight step-by-step guide explaining how you go about manually updating the firmware on this device when you have the bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed, and rooted with Magisk.
I know that having the bootloader unlocked means that the device can no longer get updates automatically and that the updates have to be manually downloaded installed from the ASUS website. But what I don't understand is how to install the firmware from the ASUS website and still keep TWRP recovery and Magisk root.
This is my first time updating the device after I first set it up in January, so I would very much appreciate it if some one knowledgeable could explain this process to me
(In case you need to know, I'm currently on WW-32.2810.2212.241 firmware, with TWRP 3.70_12-0 and Magisk 25.2 installed.)

I think twrp will not work properly with android 13 because twrp is made for android 12
Dumper UL full upgrade and you will get Boot.img and recovery.img (keep both files at safe place).
Use magisk manager to patch the boot file.
Keep recovery.img (original A13) and TWRP.img safe in ADB root folder (dont mix them up).
1. Update FOTA to Android 13 by copy UL full upgrade into root folder of your phone. If copy from PC/laptop with cable then unplug the cable, your phone will recognize the package, (if you already change COUNTRY CODE and currently use WW 241 rom that will be success update). Otherwise, reboot your device and pop up will appear. Wait the phone is fully reboot and set up everything.
2. Reboot your phone into download mode/fastboot mode (it's better that you should enable USB debug/Developer mode before doing anything). Using CMD command to flash patched boot from Magisk Manager. And reboot, now your phone could gain back root.
3. Check again if the recovery is gone or not. If it's gone, then use termux or any terminal emulator for the "dd command".
You will gain back the TWRP, if any failed, flash back original recovery.img that you have lately in ADB folder on your PC.
PS: backup everything, since going back from Android 13 to Android 12 need to full factory reset.

I'm on WW-33.0610.2810.81, and TWRP seems to be working OK so far
