After i flash cr droid rom my phone doesnt read my sd card, it appear to be formated first, but getting message sd card not suported , any solution??
I'm not much of an AOSP ROM user on this device. But as far as I know, this is a common issue (or at least, it was) on AOSP ROMs.
This happened a lot on my old Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 on a few different AOSP ROMs. What sometimes worked for me, put the SD card in a USB card reader, connected to Windows PC. A dialogue box appeared asking to fix errors on the SD/drive. I picked the default selection, which was to fix error by some quick/fast method (forget the exact wording) which only took a few minutes, and retained the data on the card And then the SD would work again.
Although this didn't work every time, but did the majority of times I got this error. In the remaining cases, you may need to reformat the SD.

Good to know. I guess I should have figured there were some hardware hiccups on the Nougat builds.

So I have searched for this error and no one seems to have an answer that fits my problem. I got an error after booting that stated SD card unexpectedly removed and gave me a triangle with an exclamation point in the center
the card works fine
it will mount up perfectly from recovery, i even pushed several roms to it and tried (cyanogen, RR, and SkyRaider) all three worked beautifully, but as soon as I boot up BAM "SD card unexpectedly removed" and I can't access anything
the computer reads it just fine so I am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the card, also with it reading in recovery it seems there is nothing wrong with the phone
is this a problem with ROMs?
I could try to do a factory reset and see if that works... but its really annoying :\
any help?
I would try reformatting the card on your PC. The card may have a bad sector that the PC and Recovery ignore. The phone OS tends to be a little more picky about those sort of things.

This worked
Thank you, I am running good now
I noticed when I was trying to backup my SD card (pictures and whatnot) that some of the files were corrupt
I will make sure I keep a regular backup just in case its a sign of the card going bad
good thing is my titanium backups were all perfect

You are on the right path - don't forget, a good practice is to back up your SD card to your PC regularly.
Why? If (when really) the SD goes wonky, you have a PC backup of the card, and you can get another SD, format it on the PC, load the backups you made, and be back in business in short order.

My solution was to format and start over, that was the only thing that worked for me
I've gotten this a few times and it is a PITA because it resets all the notification sounds and also the phone reboots. Once it does it, the only way I can get it to work is to remove the card, put it in the PC, let Win7 do a fix and repair errors and then it will work. I tried removing and reinserting, and it would mount the card and immediately give me the 'sd card unexpectedly removed' message.
I tried reformatting, and the sd card worked for a while and then I got the 'unexpectedly removed" message again after a few days. The last time it gave me that message, I just did the repair errors thing again and it's been working without fail for about 4 days now. It seems like it's going to be an ongoing thing though.
I've been googling like a mad person trying to find a real fix for this. I saw a thread on Android central where they guy said he put his wife's card in his phone and it did the same thing; but worked fine in hers. He mentioned it might be related to the 2.2 OTA update. My problem did start after that update.
In another forum thread, someone posted that they bought a new card, and it gave them the same message. So it doesn't appear to be a bad card; which is what I originally thought. I'd hate to buy a new one and have same issue (i have a 16gb card currently).
(sorry for long post)
I have the same problem! I'm using a Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 2. Previously i've been running Froyo 2.2 over the phone with a 16 GB microSD Card without problem. Later i've been using a 2 GB microSD Card and works fine, but now i'm runnin' Gingerbread ROM From verizon with 16 GB microSD Card and the messages "SD Card unexpectedly removed" don't stop.... the card works fine over other phones... even the stereo of my car can read perfectly the card's content.
I don't know if this is a problem with the update or what????
I don't think in the versions of "Bad sectors" because i check everthing and the problem persist.
The problem appears when i'm playing music... later of that the problem appears at the camera, the file explorer or another app that tries to read the SD Card.
I reboot the phone and works fine but after a couple of minutes the same [email protected]$%&t appears again....
I'm tired of reading forums telling me that is a problem with the sectors... that is a LIE!
no matters the class of the card because i've tried with Class 2, Class 4 and works fine.
This night i'll go to the store that solds me that coursed card to change it!
if tomorrow my problem was solved i been writing at this same forum!

I do not think someone saying it is bad sectors means they are lying.
I think they are merely trying to help you determine what the problem could possibly be.

did you format the card and try again as suggested earlier? That usually clears up any issues with sd cards unless they're fubar'd. Just make sure you back your card up first.
Whenever my card does this I put it into my Windows computer, right click on the card and go to properties/tools/error checking/ and check both boxes and let it run. It fixes my issues every time without formatting the card.
I had that problem a while back with one of Verizon's updates after 2.2. Reformatted card. worked fine in other phones but still said same thing everytine I put it back in the dinc. Ended up getting a new SD card then all was fine.

If you have an ext extension on your sd use G-Parted (google it) to format your ext2/3/4 partition.
This is an ongoing problem for me and it's definitely not ROM related, but it makes flashing ROM's difficult, in fact downright awkward!
When installing apps from TB it will get through a couple then reboot, at which point nothing will install until I repair my ext partition (Thank God for AmonRA!). Then it will do the same thing again. It will do the same thing with installing apps from the market too, but it's not so pronounced as I don't tend to install loads of apps at once especially as I've got TB.
I found that TB worked fine with CM7 as it didn't install to the ext partition until I flashed DarkTremors aps2sd, and that worked fine as a way round the problem.
None of this happened until I upgraded my 8Gb to 16Gb sd card. The card seems fine in every respect, just the problem with installing aps :-(
Anyone with any ideas?
My previous thread on disabling aps2sd has not proved fruitful either.

Before I upgraded my pathetic 2gb I done a little research and the word on the street was the hero couldn't handle more than 8gb, recommended by HTC apparently!
Whether this was due to the limitations of the rom(1.6 at the time) or the hardware I don't know.
Have you tried re-formatting your SD card and making sure the ext partion is compatible with the rom your using?

Yeah I've reformatted and reformatted, initially I thought that the problem mgiht have been the backup files had become corrupt when transfering them over ... and yes I've tried ext2 ext3 and ext4 all with the same results (the only rom i tried which wasn't compatible with ext4 was Cronos).
Maybe its true about 8gb being the limit the hero can handle, maybe someone else can confirm or deny.
I'm sure I've seen some on here using 16Gb cards, but it would be good to know, maybe I should change to the Froyo aps2sd?
Maybe you could try doing a nandroid backup, and trying a different rom to see if it works, if not you could have a faulty SD card???
I a, using a 16 Gb card without problems, I always do a full wipe of my phone and a format of my card before flashing a new Rom. I use the aps2sc within the rom and make sure that the settings are right (install to external) before I use titanium.
I am on elelinux 6.2.0

The max htc Hero should handle would be 32gb I believe. According to link 1, htc hero supports SD 2.0. While SD 2.0 is also called SDHC, which according to link 2 its max is 32gb
Maybe you should try to pull /proc/last_kmsg to see why it rebooted? (post it at pastebin.org, and place url here. Maybe we can understand it )

Yeah I'm really confused as those were my settings also and I tried in on Elelinux 6.2 ... I think it must be either my Hero had a bad day it was born or the sd card did, but it always comes up clean when scanned.

16gb card here, use TB all the time and nadroid as well and never had a problem. Maybe your card has some faulty sectors. Try to copy 16gb on it on the PC and copy it back to your pc after you've made sure nothing was cached. Or try scandisk to see if a part of the flash is broken, maybe.
Using a cheap ebay-bought Team 16GB Class6 with TB, flashing and nandroids. No issues whatsoever. Works great!
I've scanned the disk multiple times, not tried a full 16gb transfer ... and I'll get the log output in a minute or two
output of /proc/last_kmsg

Thanks in advance!
Edit: It got to installing around 15apps this time before crashing. It varies as to when it dies, but it will. I even considered that it was overheating, or due to OC'ing, but it does the same thing regardless of temp or CPU speed
i also use 16gb sd card for 3 or 4 months and nothing ever happens like that. everything works perfect...
Have a feeling that it's corrupt, as I have a new problem with installing anything, I now get told there's not enough room to install or updates apps ... when there's plenty ... arrrgggg!
if 16gb isn't working for you, send the card to me. I have a working 2gb you can have instead.

Haha that's really funny.
Actually I ran some scans, fsck's and reformats with repair options, and if it wasn't for the reboot issue and instability issues I have with Elelinux 7.0.3 then I'm sure I've got it fixed... I hope ...

I've just bought a brand new 32GB Class 10 microSDHC card from SanDisk, but I'm having terrible trouble with it in my Xperia Pro.
The symptoms are that, if I move apps to SD (using the built-in method in Gingerbread), they will start force-closing. Files stored on the SD card sometimes won't copy from one folder to another. The terminal shows "I/O errors". Eventually the SD card will seem to disappear completely from the system. Sometimes the whole device will spontaneously reboot.
If I put back in the original 8GB Class 4 card, everything works fine.
I am sure the 32GB card is genuine and it works fine on a PC (tested with h2testw). I have tried re-formatting it in both a PC (using Windows and Linux, and using native OS methods with various cluster sizes and with the SD Card Association app) and in the device. However I format it makes no difference.
I haven't yet tried a different ROM on my Xperia Pro (I'm using stock Gingerbread at the moment, although I have rooted it).
Do you think a different ROM might help? Or is it just that this card isn't compatible with the Xperia?
Default [Q] [Pro] Problem with new microSD card
:crying: Hi see you have tried the re-formatting option this is good because first thing people start suggesting is re-format option lol. There can be a number of things wrong and I have seen many post's with same problem as you(and after trying lots of options it does boil down to a faulty card) Even when the card as been tested. Not saying that is your problem but it is strange your old card works and also this being a new card so untested on other phones etc.It would be good if you could test on another phone although this can be unpractical I know everyone as not got a spare phone.
Also as you suggest could be the rom follow the link below this might help
Try this option link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010807 it may help:good:
With regards to moving apps to SD card I have always found using the app link to SD the best solution for me it as never let me down.Only thing with that you need to partition your card with minitool but it is well worth it because you can link apps with widgets without any problems.
Just a few suggestions maybe some others have some too:good:
Hi...
This is my first post here.
I have a problem with my SD Card.
My SDCard: 32GB microSDHC, some application like music player and gallery sometimes can't read file on my ext sd card (but my file manager can do it flawlessly)
Furthermore, sometimes it shows PREPARING SD CARD on top of the screen, although I don't even do anything. I tried to re-mount it again. But the problem still sometime occurs.
This problem started happening when I changed my stock rom to Ressurection Remix, I thought this problem occurred because of the ROM. so I change it to AOSP. But still... the problem still existed. So then, I changed it back to my stock ROM (with restore option in CWM)
But yeah... Nothing happen.
Any idea?
P.S.: Sorry for my bad english.
extSdCard/sdcard 1 issues
I have a Note II N1907 (ATT) running Liquid Smooth with a SanDisk microSD ultra 32gb. I have been trying to figure this issue out since I bought this phone 2 months ago. I screwed up the original card that I transferred from my old phone some how by trying different things to make the phone recognize it. It worked fine in my HTC Vivid. I have root and am able to use root options to try to access this card of installation, but the best I have been able to do is use it for storage. And I have to manually move things to the card, because most apps do not acknowledge that it is there (can't see it). TWRP recovery can see it after I did my first ROM Flash, but I have to use internal memory for my first ROM Flash, because recovery mode was unable to mount extSdCard.
Is there a kernel I can flash to remedy this. I am no developer, but I think the problem is that the internal memory is also SD in type. I have noticed that internal memory shows up as SDcard0 (zero) and the after market sd card is sdcard1. Maybe the phone automatically defaults to the first sdcard and ignores the other (because it is only designed to have one sd card).
I am sure others have hard this problem with this phone. Thank you for any help you can offer..

As soon as I saw your reply I scanned for the words "Sandisk Ultra" and then I knew this was your issue.
I had a lot of SD card corruption with this brand and searching a lot on the web I found many stories of people having the same issues as I did.
My 32Gb Sandisk Ultra was the cause of many of my problems. 2 months on with a Lexar 32Gb, no problems (touch wood)
okay, i've tried and looked for a similar issue but so far i can't find anything related.
I have a sandisk microsd ultrahc card 16gb.
the card itself works extremely well, both in my device when using the stock / custom samsung based roms,
Didn't really notice this untill i tried out android 4.3, at wich i thought first could be a bug in the rom, the settings kept fc'ing the moment i opened up the storage part, and a com.android.media kept fc'ing the moment i attached the usb cable.
as i thought 4.3 was the culprit i flashed 4.2.2 wich also had similar issues up until the moment i removed the card from my device and restarted, everything worked smoothly afterwards.
I've tried using exfat / fat32 both with cluster of 4096 and 8192 and neither of those helped in any way. Turns out that both TWRP and CWM (yes i tried it in both) also can't seem to mount the sd-card.
Is there any workaround for this issue? or do i have to get myself another sd-card?
I think it's the ROMs man messing things up...i tried android 4.3 yesterday and my whole android directory changed like I had to go into a folder called 0/0/0/my android files. to reach my files etc couldn't mount from sdcard couldn't copy things across from pc...I just flashed back my original stock firmware and everything is good..... android 4.3 is pretty messed up..give it time to mature still very buggy
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
The messed up folder i should get used to thoug its because of the multiple user profiles things are getting a bit messy.
Its something they added in 4.2.2 i believe
Best way to do it is to flash the rom and afterwards copy back everything to the sdcard.
Didn't have any issues with another sd card i still had laying around but that thing even thoug class 4 doesn't get more than 1mbps transfer speed.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
if the sdcard works on your pc with directly like by using an mmc adapter or sdcard to USB converter then your card is ok if it just didn't work on the phone it has to be a software issue our maybe the hardware mmc port is faulty??!
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 4
thats just it, the sd card works like a charm untill i upgrade to 4.2.2 or 4.3. however both recoveries can't mount the sd-card either.
its not one of those black ones that goes to class 10, but an ultra hdsc class 1 so might be something related to not being able to work properly with anything higher than class 10
nope....the class issue has nothing to do with software.....that's purely the job off the chip electronics/hardware.... I would say a combination of your recoveries and ROMs like I had the same issue once the custom recoveries maybe can't point to the location/ section of the memory card...try changing to different version of the recovery...maybe that could help but be sure the recovery is supported on your device...these are risky issues...so only do it at your own risk
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 4
i've tried several versions of CWM both touch and normal, also philz (yesterday but touch didn't work as it should so won't stick with that one) and TWRP but none of them could mount/find the external_sd, the only think properly working with that sd card is the stock samsung and custom roms based on stock.
(not particulary fond of TWRP, i like the layout and how it works, i just don't like the backups of that recovery, can't copy them to my computer, the extensions keep giving me an error and they are located on the phone's storage)
the sd card couldn't be found in my sensation xe neither i remembered just now after i stopped using the 4.0 stock rom and switched to custom roms, at the time i didn't really see a connection and thought my sd card just didn't want to work properly in my sensation anymore, But having the same issues, and using another sd-card in the phone worked again. Used the ultra sd card in my tabled and because i didn't use that one anymore and someone in my family needed a 16gb one for tomtom europe i gave my good one away )
gonna get myself a new sd-card this afternoon as the 8gb i had laying around isn't getting higher transfer speeds then 1mbps at most even if its a class 4. a shop nearby has a class 10, 16gb for 13 euro's so reckon thats not a bad deal, might even go for the class 10 32gb for 26 euro's if they have it in stock.
I have a 64gig card and had similar problems. With phils recovery it only works when formatted fat32. Think that exfat is not supported. With stock kernel it mounts exfat with any other kernel i tried it would only mount fat32. I think samsung kernel has support for exfat and others dont. So it might not be adroid related but kernel related.

weird thing is though, even when formatted to fat32 and not exfat, android 4.2 and 4.3 will not recognise my card, also the recoveries i only get an error when i want to mount my sd-card
my tablet which is running an aosp version of android 4.0 or 4.1 (can't quite remember) could handle the sd-card just fine, while both my phones have issues with it.
solved it by buying myself a new sd card, ^^ now i can at least safely backup to my external card instead of the internal memory.
