Weird issue with my original htc one m8 ear phones? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
So for some strange reason when I plug in the original earphones that came with the htc one m8 they don't get recognised. They use to be recognised but not anymore for some weird reason. If I plug a different set of earphones in the phone they get recognised. So I thought it must be the ear phones. I plugged them into my laptop and another phone and they worked, so what's going on?
Has my device decided to not like the earphones anymore or what's going on? They both work fine but not when they are together for some reason. Any ideas guys?
Thanks.

Speaker tends to be on sometimes while using supplied headphones / earplugs?

Here's something that happened a few times already:
Whilst sitting in the train watching a movie using the stock earphones it came with I'd get the impression everyone was looking at me, so I free up one ear from the headphones, appears the audio is also blasting throught the speakers of the TP2. First times I started fiddling with the usb plug of the earplugs to see if it maybe not be connecting right. Didn't solve it; so resrted phone and everything was okay. Last times it happened I made sure not to move the usb plug while restarting, trying to figure out if this is simply a usb problem / broken wire of earplug or software trouble. It then also worked, giving me the impression that this is somehow something caused by WinMo.
Anyone else had this problem and maybe possible sollutions?
Ps: I hate the fact that HTC once again did not use a standard mini-jack connection, using mini-usb to plug in you earphones is the dumbest sollution I can image; placing in the bottom part of phone is logical thinking of cradle connections, but not handy when you need to plug in the earphones with that utterly unhandy straight usb plug. Couldn't they at least have thought of a way to put the hole in such a way that you plug is more protected or not sticking out that much?

[Q] DHD phone calls alone and launches voicesearch when headphones are plugged in.

Hey, i have a problem with the jack plug. of My DHD when using Headphones.
I went to the beach last week and i think some sand went in the jack plug. (even though i was carefull)
I can't plug headphones whithout seeing the phone make calls and launch voice search, every 5 seconds. Really Annoying as i can't listen to music anymore.
I tried cleaning the plug but nothing had changed.
My theory is that the phone thinks i'm pressing the call button of a handsfree set.
I'm thinking of buying a blutooth audio receiver.
Or, if there was a way to disable handsfree controls, i think this would do it, but it doesn't seem possible yet.
Has anyone Got a clue ?
Thx
Does this happen with every set of headphones, or just the HTC set provided?
Hey, i've tried with several sets of headphones and it does the same thing with each of them.
I'm thinkink about sending back it to htc.
Yet, as it's rooted, i'm not so sure they'll repair it for free :/
Do you think i should i revert it to stock before sending it?
Thnx
I've heard about this problem before in a different forum.
The ppl there found out that it has to do with the lenght of the plug. (some are slightly longer than others and they cause the problem)
According to the guys on the other forum, it shouldnt happen with the stock headphones though.

I use three different set of head phones. It doesn't happen with skullcandy or ipod in ear ones with me. (Does with sennhieser hd280)
I am pretty sure it's a jack related issue.

Loose headphone jack

Hi I've noticed a problem that my last htc one m7 doesn't have.
When I plugged the headphone in the phone the jack is a little bit loose.
if I pull the headphone wire is released by one notch and it sounds only the right ear.
It's not a big problem but I've tried also with onether htc one m8 and it shoes the same exact problem.
Do you know a way to fix it?
Hate to bring this back from the dead, but I've got the same issue with my M8. Before I go through support with HTC, did you ever discover a solution?

Aux cable static/screeching noise

I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as me. Whenever I connect my phone to the bmw via Aux it instantly creates a loud static/screeching noise. I tried disconnecting the phone charger and anything else that's near the Aux port but it didn't help. Bmw even changed the Aux port in the car but it didn't help. I tried the exact same cable in my Honda and it doesn't make the noise but in the bmw it does. Has anyone else had the same problem with Aux in the car? I can't even narrow it down at first i thought it was the car but that's not the case because a different phone doesn't make the noise. Then I thought it was my phone but in a different car it doesn't make the noise. And it's not the cable because I tried the same cable in the different cars and it worked fine in one and not the bmw.

Maybe you should try a shielded aux cable with gold plated jacks, I`ve had these problems before but this should solve it.
Hey i was wondering if you managed to fix the problem.. same thing is happening with my phone and went through the same things too (also a bmw)
HTC One M8 Aux Noise
Just seen your message regarding the htc one m8 and your e92 aux issue. Did you manage to solve it with a different cable? I tried another htc one m8, in another e92 with the normal aux cable but it was still an issue with the feedback/screeching noise (its bloody awful). Called HTC and they couldnt understand what was going on either so just discounted and blamed the cable or the car. I have a HTC one X (previous phone) and there was no issue with that and I am tempted to just use that as a mp3 player if there is no resolution. If you havnt tried a shielded cable let me know as I might borrow one from a friend to save you buying one.

hey that would be great if you could try that. i stopped using the aux port and now just use the usb cable with the phone. my entire music collection shows up on the i drive so that's nice but sometimes i still want to play spotify so if a shielded cable works then i'll buy one too. thanks.
lol how did you know it was a e92?

nope, have not been able to solve the issue. I saved my music collection to the sd card (before i was just streaming from google play or spotify) and now it shows up on the I-drive when i connect with the usb cable. it'd be nice to get the aux issue figured out so i can stream spotify when there's new music I haven't put on my phone yet
Solved!
Hi Guys,
Solved!! It is so nice to have 1 source of tracks again and not have that awful noise!!
I purchased this:
(link will not display as I am a "new" user!)
Search amazon for:
"Kensington Noise Reducing CarAudio Cable"
Which is currently priced at £7.95
And the noise was gone! Its blatantly obvious that it is a problem with the phone but I guess HTC will never admit anything. I tried 2 different HTC One M8's in my car and both had the same issue. I tried my phone in my Dad's E92 and it was the same (unplugged his iphone to test which played fine).
At £7.95 its worth the investment.

Hey I also bought a new cable from monoprice. It's the flat audio cable and was cheap too, $3 so I bought 2. No more screeching noise in the bmw

Just ordered a ground loop isolator for my E92 as well. This has been driving me crazy.
Hopefully it works. Thanks for a possible solution.
Just read a post about the problem being related to the htc m8 having ground as well as the car stereo. The guy was suggesting something called a galvanic separator? I just ordered the Kensington cable, fingers crossed. M8 and bmw f11 here

I bought this from Amazon, my problems are all gone. A new problem is the two wires needed, one to the aux jack, one to the cigarette charger. I can live with that. I guess I could open up the console and hide them if I could be bothered http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aukey-Bluetooth-Hands-free-Adjustment-BR-C3/dp/B00RJUMVKG

Earphone not recognised

I have a Htc one M7 and it is not recognising the earphones which came with it. It is recognising all other earphones and headphones but not the ones i got from HTC. Also when i try to use these earphones on any other devices, they work fine!
They aren't just working with my phone ? What should i do?
