Which files are you trying to flash? All The SDK files will be put in the platform-tools folder.
All in one swiss-knife, great for newbies. Good work!

Once you are rooted and unlocked you need to flack clockworkmod recovery. I have not tried the recovery flash in this tool. The way I did it....
1. Install Root Explorer
2. Install Rom Manager
3. Open Root Explorer> Toggle r/w permissions> Delete "/system/recovery-from-boot.p"
4. Open Rom Manager> Flash Clockworkmod Recovery
5. Power Off Phone
5. Boot into Fastboot
6. Select Recovery
7. Make a backup of stock
8. Download/place the ROM of your choice to the SDcard of the phone
9. Follow steps 5-7
10. Select install zip from sdcard
11. Find your ROM and flash.
12. Reboot your phone, and your done!
Is this backup and restore function the same as this one? And is able to do without rooting?

Yes you can just do root. I do not believe you would lose data if rooting only. Not %100 though.
Is your bootloader unlocked? If it is not and you want to root you should unlock it. It would definitely wipe then though.
Either way if you use the backup tool before hand you wont lose your data!

When your booting up the phone you first get the Google screen, if your unlocked boot loader then there is a circle icon with an unlocked padlock inside. If boot loader is locked then just Google text is visible.

I am trying to install twrp 2.6.3.0 using a one click method that I found to work for others. I am rooted and it appears everything should work but I keep getting this blinking prompt and the process does not move any further. In all the directions it says to just follow the multiple prompts but I can't seem to get past this. Does anyone know what this means or what I could be doing wrong? Anyone else hit the same speed bump?

That is an adb shell running under superuser on your tablet. There may be some script it wants you to run on the tablet. I personally am using CWM so I don't know all that much about TWRP (I didn't even put CWM on mine, I had a friend come over and help with that). So I know what that is but not why you have it or what you should do with it. Sorry.

Why install 2.6.3.0? If you look at the thread in the Original Android Development subforum, there are easy instructions for installing TWRP 2.6.3.2 using the Flashify app. Why not try that?

Because nobody reads anything anymore. They just piecemeal together instructions from other devices and what they think will work and then cry and complain when it doesn't when they didn't follow instructions in the first place.
I will admit I did work all day and picked the v500 up the same day and just wanted to go home and have it just gel. Stayed up really late trying to put pieces together but for people unfamiliar with command prompts and such the "easy" methods can just come off as foreign. I used this post as a last resort. I appreciate people who create one click methods but if it wasn't for newbs then what would be the point of them at all? A guy has to start somewhere and learn as he goes.

I'm not sure what you want at this point. Did you go to the TWRP thread in the Original Android Development subforum? If so, find the link for TWRP 2.6.3.2 and download it to your PC. Move the file to your G Pad. Download the Flashify app from the Play Store. Open the app, and navigate to "Flash Recovery". Navigate to the file that you downloaded and flash it. That's it. And if you have more questions, ask them in the TWRP thread.
P.S., before you make any other significant changes to your device, please read through the forum. You'll save yourself some serious future pain.

Get Flashify and install it . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349847.
Then go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551499.
Download the apropriate file ( V50010a /b /c , depending of what version you have on you tab ) then you will have to rename the file to TWRP.img , then download http://goo.gl/UlPy11 wich is the flashable TWRP.ZIP.
Now copy those two files for you SD or externalSD.
Run flashify and select Recovery Image and use the file you renamed to TWRP.img and flash it,don´t reboot yet, select ZIP File and flash v500-TWRP_2.6.3.1-recovery.zip , wich the flashable zip you´ve downloaded second.
Now reboot and you should have your recovery.

I was having the same issue with the flashed TWRP hanging, when I rebooted I'd get:
Fastboot mode started
udc.start()
I followed your instructions exactly, and still no luck -- same reboot error. Any other ideas, or should I try the adb method instead?
thanks!

I'm stuck. I'm trying to root and install twrp recovery thru Odin. I have everything downloaded except twrp.. When I download twrp my computer asks if I want to open with winzip. I click yes then winzip has a message saying it is an unsupported archive. I'm downloading twrp 2.8.7 4.4.img.tar. I need help with this. How do I download twrp and get it so I can put it in Odin? I have searched all day for answer. Please help
I forgot to say I'm on t mobile Galaxy Note 3 5.0
Just save the the file as is. Why are you opening it in Winzip? Doesn't sound like you know enough to flash your phone. Please google how to odin twrp before you do it. Read it twice.
I got it. I came from Verizon where had locked bootloader and had to use safestrap. Never used custom recovery. For some reason the first time I saved the file, I couldn't get Odin to open it. I'm now rooted with custom rom.

Here easiest way
Install these apps from store
Twrp manager
Flashify
Download the twrp install via either then flash with Flashify . All other apps failed Installing twrp except flashify can download cwm twrp and Philz via flashify then backup kernel or recovery. Using SD card(simple fix to bootloop issues sometimes) flash the file you downloaded from it not phone. Should reboot after and hold down power home and vol+. Boot into recovery and back up everything. Should have already done this before you did custom rom. Incase partitions decided to corrupt lol note and galaxy tend to have a issue with partitions corrupting.
Subscribed to thread so need detailed guide that easy I got u. As well as files to use.
Thank you. I did backup everything. I always do. I appreciate your time and help. I know I will have other questions in the future, if you don't mind, it would be nice to know there is someone who can help if I get stuck.

Hello, I have a common problem with my devise being not the only one connected to PC/emulated.
"Error: more than one device/emulator" - I have an additional offline emulator and i cant track what created it.
I was able to correct this issue by adding
adb -s (dev. serial) wait-for-devices
adb -s (dev. serial) reboot bootloader
(or "-d" if there is only one physical device)
In .bat files in similar programs, but this package is a bit too complicated for me and i am not sure how and where to correct this. Any advice?

So I just got my Pixel 2 xl from Google and unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp and magisk. I've had issues with the touch screen on twrp not working and got that sorted out. Try removing the -w out of the flash-all.bat file with notepad or whatever you use on your pc to edit. Then just double click the flash-all.bat script to start it. Also, make sure all your files you extracted from the factory image are in your sdk platform-tools folder before you start :good:

You don't move the factory image folder itself to the platform-tools folder, but rather the extracted files from the factory image. Which would be...bootloader, radio, 3 other files, with the flash-all.bat file being the most important, and then another large zip file that contain about 16 other images. And, like mac796 said, did you unlock_critical?

I keep this zip file in a few places. Each month I unzip the factory image into it's on folder then unzip this into the same place. That way every folder has a local set of files. Just easier for me to keep things handy...
https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
Oh I also keep dueces script in each of the folders too.
The way I do it is way easier. Just change the path on your pc. So you can open a command prompt from any location. Not sure how to do that on Mac

Yeah I get that. I just download the zip every month so I'm sure I have the latest. Keeps me from letting it get away from me and then forgetting if there's as snag... Lol

Dude! Your supposed to be on Vaca! Your an addict!........just like me!.????
Coming from the n6 also, this has been quite a learning curve.
The file you dl and extract has another folder inside, leave it as is and move everything over to the folder where fastboot is.
There are way too many files and partitions now to be fastboot flashing them all.
Flash all expects that folder inside what you extracted. I extracted that once and the install borked.
Another thing i do is start with adb devices, if i get serial number, then i adb into the bootloader and a fastboot devices. I've wasted waaaaaaaay to much time in the past chasing stupid things down if I've rebooted the phone into the bootloader instead of using adb to do it.
Thanks everyone, it's fixed

Do you have screen lock security enabled? If so, disable it. Then go back to fastboot mode and flash the twrp.img. Hopefully that'll get your touch response back. Then if it's working, install a custom kernel to resolve that issue :good:

Phone has no security. It's basically 100% stock other than twrp. I read in another thread that fastboot recovery will get touch working so I can flash a custom kernel.

Actually disabling the swipe to unlock took care of the touch house issue. Thanks Badger50
