Slow charging? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

updated my wife's phone from a version released in May to PK4 and now she says that it is charging slowly. Is there anything I can do to fix this? She's tried the OEM charger and cord as well as other ones that have always charged her phone within a couple hours.

I confirmed that yesterday and again just now. I also switched it off yesterday then back on just in case something in a db somewhere got glitched. Sadly, not fixed.

One of the things that is advised by Samsung for the "slow-charging after firmware update" is to go into recovery and wipe cache partitions.
Easy enough to do and it might help.

Help Me Fix This [CASH REWARD]

Hello All
So, on my GSM Galaxy Nexus, i clean flashed the CodeNameAndroid ROM, and still using the Stock Kernel that comes with it.
My issue is, when i charge my phone, the battery is charged to 91% and stops there, it keeps charging, but never goes above 91% and the charging does not stop too...
I did a battery stats wipe, i replaced the battery with a new one, same thing, took phone under warranty, workshop tech said nothing is wrong with the phone....
I'm galmost giving up on this, it's really annoying, if anyone can help, a cash reward will be sent your way through PayPal, upto $100 because i love my GNex and not planning on replacing it.
Thanks!

Dang... Well, imma give the stock JB a go n see
I forgot to mention something...
I was running Android Revolution HD 6.0.1 ROM 1st, combined with franco Kernel r281 .. then saw the ROM got an update to 6.1.0, so i fully wiped my GNex, flashed 6.1.0 and then flashed Trinity Kernel.
Since then, i had the battery issue.
Now, running CNA ROM 3.6.6, and just few seconds ago i flashed franco Kernel r282 which is the latest nightly build, i have the phone on charge now, let's see how it goes

Is my HTC One dead??

So, I went to look at the time on my phone and it wouldn't turn on. I held down the power button and the back & home buttons just blinked a few times but it didn't turn on. I plugged it into the charger and it's not charging, no LED light or anything, and it won't turn on.
Does anyone know what could have happened or how to fix it?? I noticed earlier it was running a little hot after some app updates. could that have something to so with this? Is my phone dead??
There have been several reports as of late where the same thing has happened. Were you running a custom Rom and kernel?
What recovery were you running?

How come this would be caused by a recovery issue? My phone died just today because I forgot my charging cable at home. I charged it up just fine. If the recovery was the issue I wouldn't have been able to charge my phone up after it died. He overheated his phone which seems to be the link to every other case of this happening.
Recovery "might" be an issue, as if recovery cannot respond to a "power on" it will not turn on. Most recoveries will respond to a "adb reboot" command. That may fix his issue... If his PC recognizes the device. I know certain TWRP had issues with the DNA and it could have bled to the m7

Wouldn't this happen a lot more often if the recovery caused in considering that people run out of battery all the time?

Depends if they are using a commonly used recovery, or if the MD5 matched. I never let my battery go below 30% as most users should try their hardest to not also, fully draining li batteries drastically reduces their life and capacity.
Edit: it is also good to see everyone's setup who has this issue so we can find the common thing every time it happens.

Yea I generally try to not get way to low. It's a scary thought though that if you happen to forget to charge your phone it might not charge back up. That's why I was interested in what rom and kernel he was using. Plus it seemed to be that most of the people who couldn't recharge had an overheating issue before hand which is more or less why I don't believe it is a recovery issue.
Ok, for some reason it's working again. As I said before, it was just completely dead (wouldn't power on, no LED light when plugged into two different chargers, two different outlets) then I tried again about an hour after all the problems started and it powered on again.
When it came on, it had a 70% charge, so I put it back on the charger and charged it back up to 100%. However, after about two minutes being unplugged, it dropped down to 95%. It's never done anything like that before and this is the first time I've had any kind of problems with it in the year I've had the phone.
Could this have been some sort of temporary battery issue? I'm so confused. Are there and diagnostic tools I can use to try to figure out what happened?
I'm using NuSenseONE-Max_RC6_111313 (4.3 based), not sure what kernel and TWRP recovery. Also, I usually drain the battery down to 15% before I charge it.
Also, this happened after I updated about 20 apps.

That almost sounds like your battery might be going out but maybe you should update your rom and recovery just out of precaution. You'll need to update your firmware as well since you're probably still running jb firmware considering the age of that rom.

Not exactly. Grab the firmware from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46506592
It's version 5.x.605 something lol
Get the one that has no boot and flash it per the instructions in the op. Then grab an updated recovery. I use version 2.7.1.2 from here . http://mdmower.cmphys.com/twrp-m7vzw/ you're more than welcome to flash whatever you like philz or cwm. Then grab a newer rom. Kit Kat has been way better than jelly bean in my opinion.
On the battery dropping to 95% quickly, this is a known software "feature" in android since froyo or earlier. When the phone is fully charged, power cuts off from the Phone and won't "charge" until it hits 90%. System will still show you 100%. It has been proven by many sources that keeping a "trickle" on a fully charged battery will damage it. That is why it probably dropped quickly. Only way to determine if battery is faulty is have it drop below 89% and see it's drain.

I understand. I asked because I didn't understand why this would be a recovery issue since you can't always keep your phone from dying and having your phone brick as a result would completely suck. Plus, it would be a lot more frequent (you would think anyway) for this same thing to happen. I wouldn't want to use whatever recovery had this issue either. However, I think he just really needed to update his firmware, rom and recovery. I'm surprised he made it this long without needing to upgrade. It also helps knowing all the info because if it was a rom/kernel issue the dev could take a look into what could potentially cause the overheating because the thermal protection written into the kernel isn't doing its job if it allows the phone to overheat to death.

12.2 latest update troubles

Did the update 2 days ago and it's been nothing but issues since. Had been trouble free up till the update, just a little laggy.
First, 24 hour on the charger, and it went from 3% to 5%. Tried numerous different chargers/cables, finally it decided to take a small charge, but only to 17% the stopped.
Second, Screen flashes CONSTANTLY when it's not plugged into a charger. When it's on the charger, it plays nice like nothing is wrong.
And Thirdly, it will almost immediately reboot after i unplug the charge cable.
Already did a factory reset. Had the samsung people at bestbuy mess with it and reload the firmware. They did some tests and came back with a refresh rate malfunction. Anything else to try before it gets shipped to Samsung?

No issues at all, but I flashed OmniROM right after, since my only interest was the updated firmware, not the full RUU (ROM Update Utility).
When using a TW Rom I prefer bonuzzz's completely de-bloated and de-Knoxed Custom ROM 1.0.1, with civato's CivZ-P900-REV2.6 OC kernel and the Synapse app, alternatively you can use bonuzzz's OC'd Custom Kernel Pro 1.3. They're all for the P-900, but they work just as well on the T-900, but you might loose the auto screen-rotation.
Just want to update, I received the tablet back 2 weeks ago, and it's working great. Looks like Samsung replaced one of the boards that was faulty. Props to Samsung for getting it back to me in about 10 days.

Fed up with LP

I am sick of Lollipop on my Note 4. It has terrible battery life, my wifi doesnt connect unless I turn it off and back on. I have already tried clearing the cache, doing a battery pull, removing sim and SD card to no avail. I just want to go back to the way things were.
How do I go back to the factory image before Lollipop? I have looked and saw some threads mention odin, but nothing with a concrete tutorial. I dont want to brick the thing as I just sold my old phone and burnt my upgrade on the Note 4. The model number is SM-N910V. It is not the dev edition.
Only way to get back to KK 4.4.4 is to d/l the full firmware tar for the Note 4 retail and flash it with Odin 3.0.9.

The battery drain isnt my gripe. Even on my phone all day using it for my job I still have 30% left at the end of the day and never start the day off with a full charge. The wifi issue is. I have 6Gb on Verizon between 2 accounts. 15 days into the cycle I had used 75% of my data due to my phone randomly disconnecting from Wifi. In the past we have never used more than 2Gb of our 6 combined.

If you do decide to try LP again you may want to try a factory data reset (i.e., Settings, Backup and reset, Factory data reset) before taking the OTA to LP and do another factory data reset after taking the OTA to LP. That's how I upgraded from KK to the current LP 5.0.1 and I'm not experiencing any of the problems reported by others. I get good battery life and have no problems with dropped WiFi.
The thing that sucks is that you shouldn't have to do all of that, just to take an update. You shouldn't have to set up your phone again.

Agreed, but this seems to be the situation that we face with the current upgrade process. It is a pain, but not all that bad, and probably required if you want to run LP anytime in the near future.

Factory reset via stock recovery.

Is it safe to do a factory reset via stock recovery straight out of the box... it won't lock the phone? Or should I first start it, do a fast set up and then do a factory reset?

I'm not going to jump straight into a reset. I had the boot loop problem and wiping the cache from recovery finished the phone off for good. DM verity error, failed to set up dirty target etc. Been unusable since. I'm personally not going to touch any recovery options until the stock levels are high so I can get a replacement straight away if something goes wrong. I'm sure they'll have addressed the issue with the firmware but not going to take the risk just yet.

I have read elsewhere that Samsung were initially pulling the mother boards out and replacing them to fix this issue. By the time mine died theyd recalled them worldwide anyway so they weren't interested in repairing it only to have to replace it.

Maybe that's why it's a world wide recall mb problem + battery... rly sad that such a beast is having so much problems... BTW what is your note version?

Yeah it's a much more widespread problem than the battery exploding it would seem. Affecting lots of people to varying degrees. Definately a massive part of why they've had to recall them. The battery issue means they get to use safety as the main driver instead of actually having to acknowledge there is a catastrophic problem with motherboards or firmware whatever it is that's causing the reboots. I have the exynos with the single sim. Uk version in blue. Yourself?

Will be the same 930F the international one. That doesn't sound very good. Can't wait to get mine and test it out.
Maybe someone tried the factory reset on the new note 7?
Bump... anyone tried factory reset with stock recovery out of the box?
I was thinking about factory resetting my new N7 out of the box. Not sure I will though - would like to know the ramifications (good and bad). My original N7 has great battery life and no issues so IDK if should even mess with a factory reset to start with.
I factory reset from recovery on both my exchanged AT&T Note 7s at the store when exchanging, and then again when I got home and have had not a single issue.

Im not sure what the big deal is here.....go ahead and reset it...it will do what it always does and has always done.
No more no less and the first thing i do when i get a new device.
If you set up then reset the only extra thing it will do is undo everything you just set up lol.
Kinda of counterproductive if anything.
