Hello,
I'm confused on what are the appropriate steps to take to achieve stock "N" on the Tmobile HTC 10. I understand what needs to be done to get TWRP working and to achieve root after upgrading to "N" , just not sure how to get there.
Here are my specs.
S-Off
Bootloader Unlocked
CID: T-MOB10 US version
ROM Version: 1.96.617.2
ROM: Viper 3.5
Root is not there anymore after I got S-Off yesterday through Sunshine
Thanks for the help
Hi,
I just convert my HTC 10 Taiwan version into US unlocked version using RUU.exe
It is just simple 3 step :
1. Get S-Off from sunshine.
2. Change CID and MID to US unlocked.
3. Run RUU.exe while still on bootloader mode.
Done.
Just 3 step and detail tutorial of each you can find on XDA.

Ok thanks for the reply. Will try it today. I think I just read too much on it and it started to confuse me.
Hi, I've a Taiwan edition too and I want to do the same as you in order to use 7.
I've some questions. Doing this procedure you can receive OTA in the future?
Is TWRP necessary for this procedure?
Can I use the update named "RUU_PERFUME_WL_N70_SENSE80GP_MR_NA_Gen_Unlock_2.38.617.6.exe"?
Thank you.

Only s-off is needed for you to change your CID and MID and flash the ruu. You will receive OTA as long as you don't modify your system (e.g. root). The ruu you quoted should be ok. Also if your bootloader is already unlocked it might give you trouble with the ruu, but I'm not 100% sure about that one.
Thank you for the reply. One more question. My device have 64 GB. Is there any compatibility problem installing the US Unlocked ROM? I ask because as far as I know there's no US edition of 64 GB.

There won't be a problem once you S-Off and change your CID and MID. Also, if you are S-Off having an unlocked boootloader isn't a problem for running the RUU. If you were to run an RUU with S-On though, you would have to relock your bootloader first.
Hi,
Thank you. I finally followed the instructions and now I'm running 7. The only "issue" is that when OS appears for some seconds a message telling that This build is for development purpose only. The strange is that I downloaded this ROM directly from HTC website under Unlocked/Developer. Does this means I'll not receive OTA updates?
If this message doesn't affect OTA function I don't care about it.
Thank you all for the help.

The message won't affect OTAs at all. I think it's more about the fact that you are s-off/unlocked.

Hiya folks!
I unlocked my daughter Wildfire S hboot via HTC-Dev when it was first released and upgraded from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 EU to get rid of the 3 bloatware on the original rom, I did not root at the time as it was still in its very infant stage and did not wish to give my daughter my Rooted Desire through bricking hers!
Now the time has come to root as she is constantly telling me of a space shortage...I know we've all been there..so thinking the Hboot was still unlocked I ran through HTC super tool 3 , tried a couple of times with no success so realized there must be something I've missed, I checked the hboot was still unlocked in the pink text I believe it was to find that it no longer states unlocked, locked or any extra text just,
Marvel PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.08.0000

So my question is what is the next step? can I unlock it again some how?, I've rooted and I rom hop constantly with my Desire but this phone is being a royal pain! So did the upgrade relock the Hboot? cheers in advance folks,
Android Version 2.3.5

Go to htcdev and follow instructions to unlock your bootloader.Once it's unlocked, you should see "UNLOCKED" at the top when you boot ur phone.
And then you can root the phone.

OK Ta I wondered if I had to do it again, I guess as I have already updated to 2.3.5 from the first time I can skip that part and precede to straight step 1 ?
Did you tried this? I had problem with rooting my wfs, I can't find script i used right now. I'll update this post if i will find it.
What happened is that the 2.3.5 update changed your HBOOT from the previous one.......Go to htcdev.com start the unlock process and when prompted to download an RUU........ just download the RUU with the software more than the one you are having..... in your case the Europe RUU and just follow the instructions thereafter.....
Right got 'ERROR 190 ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED' please upgrade to 2.13.401.3 to apply this RUU, can I use a different RUU csoulr66 other than EU?
Wish I'd done this in one hit rather than in parts! Thanks in advance all!!!
You're 100% sure that you grabbed proper RUU? According to error you get and htcdev it should be this:
HTC EU 2.13.401.3 PG7610000 - sry can't give you direct link because of forum limitation for users under 8 posts
have you made a goldcard????? Because you will need one to run an RUU

I have a unlocked phone but I never hear about goldcard, are you sure it's needed ?
A goldcard is used to debrand the CID. Without a goldcard, you cant install diags/downgrade/etc because the CID is branded with your carrier.
I had this problem originally, all you have to do is run a stock rom RUU (From the list supplied by football in the stickies) with a goldcard. Then go back to the HTC dev website and upgrade the hboot.

All done, I could not down load any of the links from 'footballs' thread, busy..no free slots etc , so I found a Spanish site and upgraded to 'Europe_2.13.401.3_Radio_47.23c.35.3037_7.54.39.28M_release_236989' then all worked as it should following the instructions on the HTC DEV site, rooted and running SENSELESS_2.3.5_jermzii_v.1.2, thanks all!!
I have rooted my M8 but it is still locked to vodafone (uk). What I want to do is get the phone to update with the latest android 4.4.3. (UK)
I have tried to get S-off using Firewater but did not work for me (like I see for a few others). In order to remove branding and have an unlocked (stock) HTC do I need to pay for S-off via sunshine or am I going about this incorrectly?
thanks for any help

If there was a working Google Play Edition ROM for the desire Eye you could....
S-OFF allows you to flash all NAND chips, so you can flash custom firmware & radio, even if they're not signed by HTC (with S-ON you can only flash HTC signed images).
S-OFF also allows you to change your CID and MID using fastboot commands, so you can flash firmware & kernels menat for other regions.

Hey guys, I know there's a crazy amount of unrooting threads here and everywhere else on the internet, but the more I search the more confused I get. So here's my short situation and my few questions:
Got a T-mobile M8, rooted, S-On, Unlocked, Running S.ROM. I'm trying to do the Tmobile JUMP thing to get the new HTC 10, so I'm trying to unroot this as much as possible. I've found at least 7 different ways with different outcomes on how to do this, so here are my questions:
-I keep reading you can just flash the RUU with no other prerequisites and it'll take your phone back to stock (except for the "Relocked" status). Is this true?
-Follow up to previous question: has anyone had any experience with returning a Relocked phone to Tmobile for their JUMP plan? (Not warranty exchange, I feel they're more strict with that)
-Is the only way to change the Relocked status to Locked by going S-Off with Sunshine and doing all of the 8923479324 steps in order to erase all of the tampered flags?
-What is the BEST method with the BEST outcome to go back to full stock on the M8?
Thanks in advance!

The statement "no other prerequisites" is not specific enough. If you mean stock ROM and/or stock recovery (which folks sometimes think is needed to RUU), its true that neither are needed in order to RUU.
There are however some prerequisites:
1) PC required. Win7 and USB 2.0 for the best compatibility with RUU.
2) RUU needs to be intended for your version (CID and MID)
3) RUU version needs to be greater or equal to main version on the phone (this requirement is bypassed with s-off)
4) Relocked or locked bootloaded (this requirement also bypassed with s-off)

T-Mob is not my carrier, and I know nothing of their Jump program. But in most cases, the best bet with returning a phone is to RUU to stock, and make the bootloader LOCKED. Return to s-on (after s-off) is probably not needed.
Thanks for the info! I guess I'll be getting sunshine then and try to follow all of these guides. So if I S-off with sunshine, as long as I check my CID and MID (I got the RUU from the HTC website, but I'll double check it anyways), I can flash that and return to stock. And afterwards I can find a guide on how to reset the tampered flags and the Locked status?

Yes, that is what I would suggest. Guide on how to make it LOCKED and remove TAMPERED:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571
How I went back to stock
I was rooted and running custom ROMS, but when MM came out I wanted to make sure that my firmware/radio was updated. So for me this is what I did
- first I am s-on
- When I unlocked the bootloader, just before I installed TWRP, I made a copy of the recovery. Also I backed up my stock ROM. Both I kept
So to restore:
- I re-installed via TWRP, the stock ROM, and made sure that I didn't root it
- I re-installed the stock recovery
- rebooted and phone saw the MM upgrade and proceeded to upgrade.
If you don't have the recovery/stock ROM you will need to remember what version of android you were on when you overwrote the recovery with TWRP. If your firmware + recovery + OS do not match the update won't work.

What error number? If 155 or 159, you can't RUU from LP to MM (this is a new requirement they added with MM). You either need to flash the 6.20.531.5 full stock firmware from here, then run the RUU again. Or run the T-Mobile LP RUU.
Hi everybody,
I'm sorry, I'm sure this question may be asked so much time, but after 1 hour searching I don't find anything usefull for me... (Maybe a keywork issue ?)
I don't know what I've done, but after I locked again the bootloader in order to flash on a RUU, I blocked my HTC 10 and can't boot on android again.
When I tried it the phone is only going to bootloader mode and don't want to get to my Os. I have TWRP and was on the custom LeeDroid 7.0.
I can't backup or do anything and while i try the dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota on the terminal, it won't work...
And I can't unlock again the phone, I've tried and it's "relocked".
Has someone have the same issues ? Really need your help ! :crying:
Thank you !
Why did you even lock the bootloader to flash a RUU? Is that mandatory? Sticking with Lee is always a better idea .
You might wanna try using a RUU.exe to get your OS back. What firmware and model do you currently have?

Yes it was lol...
But i've read that it was better to be on a locked bootloader to flash ruu :crying:
Yes, you need to lock the bootloader to flash an RUU.
Some people like custom roms, some want to go back to stock.
From the bootloader you can go to download mode and get the unlock token and try the process again to unlock, I would guess. Beyond that, I'm assuming the RUU screwed up somewhere. It is generally not possible to flash an RUU unless the phone matches the RUU's CID and MID parameters. And if it didnt work, the RUU wont have gotten far enough to do any damage.

so you can't flash ruu with a unlocked bootloader?? thats odd...people use rru to get back to stock after running custom rom and you shouldn't lock bootloader with custom firmware bc it supposedly bricks you...or is download mode still operatable?

Fair enough, advice I followed at the time suggested I relock bootloader to do an RUU. Being S-ON or OFF doesn't matter.
However, since there was no RUU for my CID (H3G__001) I had to S-OFF in order to change my CID to WWE (HTC__001) to flash that RUU. My phones status at the time was S-OFF, Relocked. It worked fine. It also worked fine under those same conditions after I changed my CID to BS_US001 and MID to 2PS6500000.

I don't think it's the US MID, my IMEI is German and the phone works great on 4G / LTE in France (where I live) and i've read that 4G won't work with an US version in France, but maybe you're true and their is no RUU for my version ... (fragmentation pleasures).

In fact, the only think i can flash / unflash is TWRP and the recovery stock..
