From what I've seen, most of the custom ROM are based on CM, now that CM is dead, what's the future of Zenfone 2 custom ROMs?
I think it's too soon to predict what will happen as there doesn't seem to be a lot of information around.

Cm is not dead. Cyanogenmod and cyanogen Inc are two different things. Yes there will be some hiccups with server changes and the like. And maybe a name change. But it's not going away.

Really...its all preference ....so start flashing and find out.
Everyone's opinion will be different.

ive been using pro bam 4.3 rom and it has been great. except for battery running out a little fast but am giving it a few days for the rom to settle in!
PA 3.99
I have been messing around with a lot of 4.3 roms and pretty much all of them have the same stability. As for me, I prefer PA (Paranoid Android) 3.99 and PAC Rom but more toward PA 3.99 because it just seem slightly less buggy and bit smoother. Again, to each their own at this point since there is no official 4.3 for this device.

I've been using Hellybean , always you the latest, no issues. Love it.
As others have said its really just a preference thing. I have been trying out a few different ROMs, just to see which ones I like the most, especially 4.3 versions. I have been using [ROM] Unofficial | CyanogenMod 10.2 | Diablo Kernel [09-23-13] from ThdDude for the past day or two and havent had any issues to speak of. I really like that it has the Diablo Kernel compiled. I have noticed though that for some reason when I was trying to Flash 4.3 ROMs with CWM the system would boot but then go black and would have to go into recovery. I finally decided to give TWRP a try and havent experienced any problems flashing 4.3 ROMs. I have actually really been enjoying it and have some real respect for the developers.
stable 4.3 roms
The best I have used is the 9/26 aokp by whitehawkz along with uber kernel. Running 2.6.3.0 twrp. Especially like the active notifications with no problems.
There is no BEST and yet they are all the BEST. Members are expected to research and read through the development threads before altering their device. The only thing you will get here is a list of all the ROM's because every member has found what is best for them. You can get the same list by looking at the first few pages in development.
Thread closed.
Have a great day!
Hello,
First, sorry for my bad english, I'm french.
I try to install this kernel in the Cm 10.2/11, but, one time I reboot the tablet, google logo appear, then, blue screen appear.
Do you have a solution? Need CM on my N7 13.
Thank's
Only certain kernels support cm

ElementalX will not work on AOSP or CM roms; installing it will either brick them or cause random reboots.

Actually elemental x will work on aosp based ROMs.
The only kernals you can use on cm are ones that are compatible with them and elemental x doesnt work on cm.

I stand corrected.
You need a kernel that's says CAF compatible. Try glitch kernel, very good. Also I'd suggest reading more before doing things that could potentaly brick your device. Hope you made a backup first.
Is there a master list of every caf and or aosp rom And their equivalent compatible kernels?
I've tried nearly every kernel on Vanir to no luck..

there isn't a massive list. generally speaking most kernels and roms will be AOSP, only CM is CAF and the odd kernel here and there afaik
So I was able to update my Sprint E4GT to CM11 although it didn't support WiMAX so I had to revert back to stock. I know 10.1 Cyanogenmod has worked for me in the past. Although, since it seems 10.1 is a bit out dated, many links seem to be dead and or spread out throughout the internet in random sites. Could anyone please provide me with good links to the files needed to go from the stock GINGERBREAD.EL29 to Cyanogenmod 10.1 and possibly walk me through it a bit? I tried using a stable build of 10.1.0 from the cm website but it gave me an error 7. Thank you so much for all your support I've received in the past, I'm hoping this goes through. P.S. I am rooted!

There are also numerous 4.2.2 AOSP ROMs in Android Development, including Slimbean, Pacman, Evervolv, Dirty Unicorns, AOKP, Vanilla Rootbox, and ReVolt [emoji106]
And status 7 error usually means you're using a too-old recovery. Use EL26CWM kernel/recovery to flash. There are plenty of tutorials here in this forum... You could start here

Thank you so much good sir! Once again, loving this community more than any other!
There are just too many and not that much time to test! What's the most stable & closest to base CM? Thanks!

You'll just get fanboy answers since its new and theres nothing stable. The work on CM took double digit versions before it was halfway usable and there still was a serious functionality issue (wifi not waking up) during that time. And CM was the most well known unofficial rom here with the highest user participation on reporting bugs and workarounds.
Probably best to stick with older more stable roms unless you don't need your phone for anything important.
CM is the best bro
Anyway mokee is also good one . But cm is the best .
Well then i may ask: what is the best stable rom (any version)?
cm11 may be suitable for daily used
i have tried almost all roms... and found below to be used as daily driver.......
Kitkat:
smiui
tesla
mokee44
Lollipop:
Mokee51 release version
Bliss
minimal
liquidsmooth
fusion
resurrection remix
tipsy
crdroid
Marshmallowby far)
Mokee60
