Cyanogen's death and what it means for our devices - Wileyfox Swift

As you might know, Cyanogen is shutting down its services soon. Wileyfox was one of the few brands to use it. So what will happen? Are our phones going to die, without a Nougat-flavoured update? According to a Wileyfox official, they won't.

What do you think about this?

When i asked wileyfox tech support about updates they replied:
"Thank you for your email,
We assure all our customers that the support of the software will go on as provided and,
That there will be no issues at all.
Kind Regards
Stefano

Yeah, Dealt with that dude before, (Stefano)
Completely wrong, wouldn't trust a word he/she/they said....
When I tried ordering a battery from them, he kept telling me he can't give me a tracking number as it's an international shipments.
WTF.......
So anything he/she says is bound to be wrong,
Gonna give it some time, then gonna try my luck with one of the roms available , crdroid look to be nougat flavored, and get regular updates.
Unless somebody has a pixel style ROM for our phone?

i tried crdroid, had lots of problems. using dirt unicorns and found no problems so far with latest rom.

So how will it come out?
As a ota update?
Will it not be a CyanogenMod anymore? So it's name will change?

Stranded by my Rom

The issuer of my ROM has said that this is his last release.
I'd like to know how I can avoid being orphaned by great, hardworking people( both Mildwild and Cyanogenmod stopped releasing updates)
Is there a forum or source for a standard version of android and user interface that can't be orphaned?

First of all wrong place to post. I've reported the post so a moderator can move it. Read the rules before you post without thinking and get caught in hot water. People aren't going to answer you and you're only going to get told off for doing this.
Technology evolves we can't stay back on old devices forever. Devs move on to newer devices and the older ones don't get support. For the Desire we're lucky we have so many devs bringing newer versions of Android. My suggestion stop complaining and carry on with your life or buy a new phone.

Can't be orphaned? Get real. Even you probably left a dumb phone for a smart phone at one point.

CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, or any other ROMs?

Would Cyanogen Mod be interested in developing for this phone now that we have unlocked bootloader? Given the choice, I'd love Paranoid Android, but I went hold my breath.
CM is already in development . https://github.com/CM-zenfone2
BrokenROM https://github.com/BrokenROM/device_asus_moorefield
Seems that are only for ZE551ML I hope that will be compatible with ZE550ML
If someone can get pure AOSP or CM working, the ROMs will flow out like water... once a base is established building many ROMs is easy. If we get CM, then look for ROMs like Beanstalk, BlissPop, Carbon, , etc. to follow closely behind. Patience, it will happen...

Yay! I really hope Paranoid Android follows suit. I LOVE Pa's Halo feature.
custom roms will help this phone.zenny 2 has one of the worst stock firmware optimization ever and seems like asus cant fix the problems.

Good to see Asus is showing commitment to this phone. Also great to see you guys are embracing the aftermarket ROM community. More vendors need to be supportive like this.
We love the enthusiast community - you guys are the ones that like to tinker and have contributed to our growth over the years when we were just a motherboard vendor. I bet many of you still have fond memories of building PCs with our components before tinkering with phones .

Awesome! Is there/will there be collaboration with the developers regarding the kernel and device tree from ASUS as well? That would be key to have a fully-working custom ROM in the nearer future (versus the developers having to learn from scratch and sort of fend for themselves, kludging their way along and delaying the end goal).
So exciting!
We post our kernel source, but that's all we can offer, unfortunately. Our software development is done at our Taiwan HQ. But if any devs need anything, just send me a PM and I'll ask our software team.

This makes not much sense to me honestly. Why locking a bootloader in the first place and then stating to push development hard by providing test phones to specified devs?
But still I want to thank you for your commitment in making this phone a huge success - we'll kick Galaxy and Xperia and the likes out once done
Good thing to see Asus sharing to make custom ROMs efficient.
Already on Harfainx's ROM, can't wait to see things going even further.

This is my push from Technical Marketing for North America due to needs and wants for the US market. I place great emphasis on the community that has made many of the previous phones I've owned so great. I want that for the ZF2.
I'll probably start development for this phone once i get it. Never worked with an x86 android device before but it sounds like a fun challenge

Hi,
I've got some sort of situation here concerning building the kernel for ZF2 on my own. I downloaded the kernel source from ASUS website and followed the instructions one by one (download the android source code, use the appropriate toolchain, issue the kernel build command using fhd_defconfig, etc.
The phone boots and works good, BUT:
The phone never gets to deep sleep mode because of hsic_s3_wlock (kernel wakelock from USB HSIC). Could you please ask someone from the technical department to check what is causing this or if any config entry is missing? I am really starting to doubt that this is something I can influence at all

G5 7.1.1

I've heard that the Moto G5 is getting 7.1.1? Is this correct? I'm waiting for the update! To confirm this. Thanks in advance
please don't open threads like this - iv heard that i'm going to win the lotto next week - doesn't mean its going to happen
As to is this correct? How do we know? Your're the one telling us - Members of xda don't know what is going inside Motorola and only know what is publicly released by them.
its not informative and there are plenty of other update type threads already - we don't need yet another
If I'm "wrong" blame this guy?!
I don't think he was suggesting it was wrong, just that no one outside of Motorola knows. A lot of people have not had a single update to their Moto G5 and are still running Android 7.0 with a security patch level of January 2017...

If that was a Motorola chat person it's been proven they don't know dates or anything about releases other than what is already publicly available on the Motorola website
Soak tests can last months & then they are rolled out in stages depending on the following
Geographical location
Device variant
Retail (sim unlocked from purchase) or branded (bought from a carrier eg Vodafone or other non retail eg amazon)
If a Motorola chat person gives you a date it's because they are fed up with people asking & just want to get rid of you

Anyone know about lineage?

Hi guys, i'm not developer and i'm not asking to hurry up or anything like that.
I just wonder if someone know anything about lineage coming to Mate 20X. Do you think it is possible? There is any developer trying?
Do we have forum to see it?
I like the Mate 20X, i have the AL00, i'm waiting til the lineage come to buy the unlock codes.
I should give up or I can still have faith?

Once Huawei decided to stop Bootloader Unlocking Services, it also stopped releasing kernel sources for new devices (correct me if im wrong).
Resurrection Remix is almost at official release and OmniROM is in testing. I've been running Resurrection for about a week now and aside from volte everything is running smoothly. It feels good to have this hardware running AOSP. It's the way this phone should be.

Android 10 Upgrade

According to Xiomi, Mi A2 lite won't get Android 10
Is it true ?
Please at least make an effort and look at other Android 10 threads on the forum before making the exact same posts as said threads.
Here's the full lowdown:
- Xiaomi have to provide Android 10 to our phone as part of the Android One program.
- We don't know when we'll get it.
- The Xiaomi support agents definitely don't either.
- It has been shown many times that the support agents either don't know about the Android One program, the concept of Xiaomi doing ROMs that aren't MIUI or even the existence of the Mi A2 Lite Vs the Mi A2 (which are separate things).
- Please for the love of any and every God, either stop asking here and the Xiaomi support about it and use a custom ROM or just sit and wait and be patient like the rest of us. Thank you.
Stop worry or ask about Android 10 guys.
I agree with the first comment.

I also think that having a customer support that has little knowledge about its product is leaving a bad impression to us, at least they should foward our question to someone who can help more...
Altough i am thankfull for security updates, my phone is still working great, and android 10 will come, but when, no one knows yet...
It's because the job of the customer support is to help out with base level questions about a device, and Xiaomi's support will mainly be focused on and assuming the question is about MIUI rather than anything else since that's their primary version of Android that 90% of their phones run. This level of customer support wouldn't know a single thing about unannounced device updates, primarily because this kind of information is just never divulged to them in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if most of what they come out with is just pure guesswork because they don't actually know.

After the confirmation from Xiaomi and seeing screenshots from Geekbench, we can say that Mi A2 lite update is in beta state and would probably be releasing update in the end of Q2 2020 (April).

Why not Q4 2020
Which rule forces Xiaomi for Q1? I cant see any rule for Q1.
I think Xiaomi forgot us and for the Android 10 update thing they still didnt even started to work on it.
But i have big hope for 2020 Q4. We will get Android 10 update with Mi A4’s Android 11 update.
