Intro
Android Wear is becoming one of the most popular wearable’s out in the market right now, and what some people miss about these devices is that they can double as a fitness band and step counter and some even have heart rate monitoring capabilities. Now you wont get much out of this detail with Google Fit until the app is more robust, so in this guide we are going to recommend another app to help with your fitness goals; MyFitnessPal…
MyFitnessPal
MyFitnessPal is in our opinion the most robust app in the app market for loosing weight. This app is cross compatible to almost every mobile OS, it is 100% FREE, comes with a stellar food database, and is loaded with features. We recommend you try it, or chances are you are already using it. Sign up for free at http://www.myfitnesspal.com, and download the app from your respective marketplace.
Android Wear
The following tutorial is for android wear smart watches. If you are in the market for one, we recommend the below as they have all the features required, and are the bests one on the market now.
What you need (Hardware)
You will need the following equipment to complete this guide.
Android Smart Watch
Android Smart Phone running 4.4+
Software you need
Up by Jawbone (not Up24)
MyFitnessPal
Instructions
If you haven’t already download the Up from Jawbone app from google play, while your there you might as well download MyFitnessPal if you don’t already have it.
Open the Up app and signup with Jawbone then sign in if needed.
Tap the menu button in the top left corner (The three lines). Then tap settings and finally tap Application Preferences.
Make sure phone motion sensor is turned on.
Go home and tap the watch icon on the top right. Your watch should be connected to the app, if not check that your smartwatch is paired with your phone, turned on and is in range, then restart the app.
Go to the MyFitnessPal app.
Click the menu button, scroll down and tap settings. Then Click Steps.
Tap add a device then choose Jawbone UP.
Click Connect, then sign in if it asks and click allow.
Your done!
Now your smartwatch will report steps to the UP app, which in turn will send the data to MyFitnessPal and log your calories burned.
Keep in mind it may take 24 hours for your steps to start showing up in the myfitnesspal app after performing the above steps.
How do you connect your moto 360 with up app? For me only my phone is displayed on the upper right but not my moto 360?

Thanks, I was able to use your steps to connect my 360 to LoseIt as well.
Thank you. I was looking for a way to circumvent the fact that Google Fit doesn't communicate its information out to any 3rd party apps which would then tie into MyFitnessPal. This worked great. Seavers11, I had the same issue initially but after the setup I exited the UP application, came back in and the watch icon had replaced the phone icon in the upper corner.

The thing is you have to wait for the up app to install on your watch. hit the resync apps button in the wear app and you should be good to go!

You are welcome dude!
Another way is to use withings. Connect it to your google fit and my fitness pal accounts and it will sync your steps from google fit through to my fitness pal.
What I've found is that it only appears to sync steps around an hour after you have took your watch off. Maybe its waiting until you appear to have stopped for the day?

Thanks for this. It does take a while for myfitnesspal to update with the steps.

Yes he is but I find the up app is more accurate when used with my fitness pal
I have been using it and it works pretty good. Battery life on both watch and phone are unaffected

Major find here.... THANK YOU!!!!
just followed your instructions and got everything setup
guess i'll have to wait a day or two to see my data in the respective apps
it's too bad Google Fit doesn't track all this by itself... i assume it did before i purchased the watch
Got everything setup thanks
Thanks so much I need this, for do all the use for my M360
Thanks for the info. I tried to use it for several months but the calorie adjustments were way out of wack. I got tired of inaccurate information syncing with myfitnesspal and inability to sync running data without it double reporting. I am trying this new app now called FatSecret and syncing my walking & running data with Google Fit. Time will tell if this is a better combination...
Thanks.. works great.
I use an app called cinch... It syncs your steps and also records your heart rate at set internal from your watch to Google fit.

I gave in and just bought a Fitbit Charge. Jawbone UP shows me with 30% more steps, and there doesn't appear to be any way of correcting that.
I installed Google Fit on my Zenwatch and went aboard for a week and left my Zenwatch home. I noticed after I came back that there are data for that week on my handphone!
Is it normal? Where did the data come from? are they correct?
p.s. the Zenwatch was power off during that week.

Fit will also gather data from your phone. If you were using it, that's where the data is from.

Yes, it uses the sensors in the phone. It was available for the phone quite a while before the first Wear devices were available.

I use both.
The Wellness app for the smartphone is, as said above, an Asus app. It does NOT count steps on the phone, but only syncs with the watch and therefore only shows you the steps that the watch measured.
Google Fit on the other hand was primarily designed for phones and uses its sensors to gather steps and other stuff. In addition, Google Fit can also gather the data from Wear Smartwatches (and other 3rd party wearable devices). In the Android Wear app on your phone you should find a setting where you can configure which app should be used on the watch for steps and heart rate. If you select "Wellness" there, Google Fit will not receive any data from the watch, only the Wellness app will. If you select "Google Fit", it's vice versa.
Usually it makes more sense to use Google Fit, because when you do, your steps will be counted if you have EITHER your watch OR your phone with you. And Google Fit is smart enough to not double-count the steps if you carry both. With Wellness on the other hand, you have to wear the watch in order to count your steps.

Thanks for your information.
The Fit app on my watch starts malfunctioning this week, whenever I try getting my heart rate, it shows the rate the moment I put my fingers on the watch! I keep trying and even restart the watch but the problem still exists.
What should I do?

Hi all,
I couldn't find a similar topic in the SW3 forum, so apologies if this is a duplicate. I'm finding my SW 3 (running 5.1.1) will not count my steps on its own, only when I have my phone with me. I only got the watch a couple weeks ago, so not sure if it is a problem with the 5.1.1 update. As far as I understand, the watch should be able to count the steps on its own and then sync with my phone later...is this not correct? I know it has GPS to track runs with Endomondo, but I thought it had its own pedometer as well.
If this is indeed supposed to work, any ideas to fix it?
Welcome to the nightmare that is google fit. It's just awful and broken. Sync always screws up between the watch and the phone. It really is a joke. I honestly don't understand how google can allow something like this to happen. I use the jawbone up app, only version 4.4 because the latest update broke android wear compatibility. Works perfectly. I'll just wait till google get their act together. Hopefully it'll be soon.

Sync doesnt work properly with messages either if you dismiss it on the watch it still shows on the phone and tablet.

Oh, darn. I really wanted this watch for the fitness features. Bummer that one doesn't work.
edit: So I'm doing some testing and I suppose it really is Fit not syncing. Present my watch indicator for steps (Pujie Black, that is supposed to be connected to Fit) says 2282. Google Fit (app on watch and phone) says 2223. I just left my phone and walked around the office a bit. Indicator didn't change from 2282, but when I opened the Fit app on my watch I saw it quickly change from 2223 to 2249 and then back to 2223. Phone also says 2223. That is incredibly frustrating.

permissions off?
try going into the settings and then permissions, i found that in the permissions menu google fit did not have permission to access the sensors, this could possibly be the problem
Hi there,
I bought Sony Smartwarch 3 primarily for tracking my jogging while listening to music, because at my new job I can't upload music to the phone or install any apps and I don't have 'private' phone (I've Xperia Z4 Tablet, which is too big to run with).
While the experience of running without phone is great, the standalone Endomondo app usually fails to upload my training to the servers. I've set my Endomondo to use watch's GPS so I just go outside - without the phone - and start tracing the run as soon as GPS finds the fix. After I'm back the watch connects to the tablet, but nothing happens. Out of maybe 6 runs just one uploaded correctly and I have no idea what I'd done differently. Is there a particular order of actions I should follow for this to work? Should I run Endomondo on both the tablet and watch before starting the run, so that they somehow "know" that I expect them to connect afterwards? Are there any other equivalent apps that are more consistent and reliable? I hear good things about Ghostracer but it looks very amateurish
Thanks in advance for any tips!
I tried Ghostracer yesterday and I'm sticking to that - despite hideous talet UI it at least communicates to the user what's going it, i.e. it tells you it will end the recording and save the data and then actually uploads them to the app on the tablet, from where I can export it to file & import to Endomondo. Quite a roundabout way to get there, but at least it seems bulletproof.
Same thing is happening to me, I am desperate. Don't know what else to do. I have already did a factory reset to the watch and the phone, same thing happens.
I sent an email to endomondo support but they haven't answered yet.
I don't want to use another app, because I've been using endomondo for several years already and I really like it.
Any clues?

Well, there's this site: https://tapiriik.com/ which lets you sync your trainings between various services (e.g. Endomondo, RunTastic, Strava),so what I did I copied my trainings from Endomondo to Strava and connected the Ghostracer app to Strava so it uploads automatically.
Alternatively, if you really don't want to leave Endomondo, you can simply run with Ghostracer and - from the phone/tablet app - export the .gpx or .tpx files and import them to Endomondo (via their web-page, I don't think it's possible via app) which works very good. Also, you can use Ghostracer, have it upload your training automatically to Strava or Runkeeper and then use the website I mentioned above to sync that (automatically, if you're willing to donate few $ to its creator) with Endomondo.
Probably not the answers you were looking for, but hope that helps
I don't think Endomondo will care enough for standalone GPS watches to fix this, which is a shame but that how it works.
hey antic604, thank you so much. I have tried tapiriik, it works great!
I have just received a reply from endomondo, at least they accept there is an issue, I am going to ask for an ETA now.

Also, it turns out Tapiriik has an app in Google Play Store, which should make the process even easier
I'm afraid the reply from Endomondo is a template, generic answer to any complaint they get, so I wouldn't keep my hopes up. Would be glad if they fixed it, though
Please post in this thread if you get more info from them.
Totally Offtopic, so sorry at first!
But how did you get endomondo installed on SWR50?
Following the guide on endomondo homepage i get stucked on "live manager" which is named different now ...
Any actual tutorial somewhere?

There's no separate installation happening on the watch itself - you just install the app on your phone / tablet and it should appear on the watch as well (if it's synced with your primary device).
First i could not see it in mini-launcher. Now I fond it in stock and after endomondo download it showed up in mini as well. Thanks!

Hello,
i just switched to a pixel 7 pro with android 13 and the sync with the Health app is not working (HUAWEI WATCH 3). Not even notifications and phone calls.
Has anyone solved the problem?
I have already tried to install the official versions of Health and HMS, and also the latest ones found on apkmirror but none of them work.
Thank you
Hi, same problem here.
Any solution?
Aa looks I'm not alone, I just spend 6 hours in support on huawei and Google but non of them can't help. I thing they even didn't know there is issue.
Have same problem with watch 3 pro.
But watch gt 3 pro works fine but on that is just rename d liteOs to Harmony Os.
Watch 3 pro has real Harmony OS that I thing will some issue with permission. It's just my guess but I hope someone find solution. I try it last 3 days to play around it.
Looks watch 3 and watch 3 pro (real harmony OS) has this issue.
Ps: more wierd is i gotalso pixel 6 pro and there watch 3 pro works completely fine, no issue at all.
I have the Same Problem no found the Failire at the monent
Same here. Please let us know if there's any info on this.
Mine doesn't get notifications with Pixel 7 Pro either
When do we think we will get a fix? I'd say never.
I have decided to sell off my 3 Pro. I think Google are making sure Huawei Watches don't function fully on Pixel Phones.
I'm facing the same issue with my huawei watch.
Exactly the same here. Pixel Pro 7, Huawei Watch 3 Pro, tried everything multiple times thinking i must be missing something. No notifications to the watch at all- calls, texts, alarms. Continuous heartrate and Sp0 won't work now. And watch won't sync. Sucks. Also have issues with viewing website imbedded video in auto-rotated landscape, and my CCTV cameras in landscape on the Pixel( Reolink and Camhi).
So i assume the watch is 1st issue, and the phone is 2nd issue. How annoying.
Anyone found any solution yet?
I realized my heart rate and spo2 levels also don't sync with my pixel 7 pro. Skin temperature, stress level and sleep records sync without any issues.
I went into watch settings and allowed each and every permission one by one.
No notifications whatsoever! I regret the day I bought this watch. And because of this, I will not be buying any otherr Huawei watch. It's a shame because I really like their watches.

Nah I tried all that too. I'm just assuming Google don't like Huawei anymore due to all the bans and stuff. I've just ordered a Ticwatch Pro 3 ultra instead whilst they're on sale. Hopefully that'll work ok using Wear OS.

I understand google not allowing their softwares on Huawei products but restricting people's choices of hardware is over the top.
I also believe Huawei is extremity slow in updating their softwares. Their watch was working fine with pixel 6 from what I see online. But Pixel 7 uses Android 13 and I believe Huawei Health and HMS Core doesn't yet support Android 13. We are also yet to see Huawei Pay in UK! I've paid good money for the watch not long ago and I can't see myself spending extra to buy another brand! I'll claim my free Pixel Watch soon but reviews doesn't look too good!
Same issue faced here. GT runner on both pixel 7 and oneplus 9R (Android 13 beta). I think Android V13 might not allow apps those are not from PLAY STORE to have the permission. Here's my workaround with a fresh start:
1. Install "Huawei Health" at the PLAY STORE (very old version)
2. Grant the permission in the system settings
3. Install "Huawei Health" at the Huawei website
4. Connect Huawei watch to the phone
Now your sync permission is still there. Btw, I dont know whether you can get the permission back if you cancel it now

This works.
Pixel 7 pro with android 13 cloned from Huawei P20 pro,
Huawei Watch 3 Pro.
Huawei Health app offered me an update and after I agreed it downloaded an .apk file. After the update, I deleted the pairing of my Huawei Watch 3 Pro with my old phone and started a new pairing, the watch generated a QR code. I ran a scan in Huawei Health and the pairing was successful. There is a problem, pairing breaks in watch ultra long battery life mode. This worked with the p20.
I saw Huawei released a new update for the Huawei Health application. Version: 13.0.0.320. Does anyone know if this solves the issue with Android 13? If not, I will wait with updating. Cheers!

This didn twork with pixel 7 pro and watch 3 pro.
Actually there is no issue with permission, watch just not have sync from phone. I can go to contact also use Internet through Bluetooth, but watch didnt have info permissions from app of continuous measurement or update weather or show notifications etc.
Looks like some share info missing or they didn't have.
Unfortunately pixel monthly update didn't fix this. Hope will app update soon to fix this.
Ps: my GT3 pro works completely fine, must be watch 3 series issue real harmony OS.
GT3 series use LiteOS renamed to Harmony OS.
Has there been any updates to the Hauwei health app to fix this problem?
I have the same problem , and i'm still lo0king for a solution.
I have been looking round the net & wondered if the problem was an out of date HMS Core software.
Has anyone updated to the latest HMS Core & then tried and see if notifications come through & phone calls?
on android 13 apps that are not in the latest play store will have limited permissions, just like huawei health ... take a look at this Youtube video
