In settings then accessibility there's an option for 'app locker' under the services heading. Any idea what this does?
I just have talkback and switch access.

Seems it would be there from a third party app.
You'll have to hunt it down manually.
I have an app lock on kids' nexus 9 tablets, but I installed it and it allows me to lockout apps I don't want them to have access without me around.

I have talk back and switch access but also Nova launcher. I would say your app locker selection is from an app you installed.

So when I was looking at the settings for google now, there's a setting called tablet search which is a select list of your apps that google now presumably uses in order to answer your question to the best of it's ability. You can enable or disable whether or not google uses that app to give you an answer.
My question to you is do you know of any additional apps that will appear on the tablet search menu?
I haven't done much searching but I downloaded the IMDB app and it showed up on the list, and I enabled it.
Thank you,

This is a well known bug in several Samsung models. It happens when you install an app that has access to accessibility or LED controls, and who knows what else.
I have a SmartWatch app which requires Accessibility to be turned on. I also have the SwitchPro widget which can turn on the LED flash, which makes matters worse.
The ONLY way to get rid of this problem is to disable all TTS (Text to speech) services and applications. Go to Settings --> Applications manager --> scroll right to "ALL" --> Disable "Google Text-to-speech Engine" and "Samsung TTS". If you are using 3rd party TTS apps, like Ivona, you'll have to Force Stop these apps as well. Which is a really bummer because I like to listen to my books using TTS using ReadBoox.
I'm hoping Samsung will fix this in their future updates.

Really thanks for answered.
F****** sammy.

Always love my note 2

Another way to at least temporarily get rid of this is to clear the cache of the TTS Engines. The darn bug comes back, and it's a bit of a nuisance, but you may be missing features of your phone if you disable it completely (Navigation?). It's NOT a permanent fix: disabling the Engines is.

Is there any other faster/easier way to open the VPN list or a connection other than going into Menu, Settings, More Settings, VPN?

You could try something generic like the Bar Shortcut app which let's you put a shortcut to any app or setting in your notifications bar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinsoft.android.barshortcuts.
Or something more specific to VPN like 5VPN https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doenter.android.vpn.fivevpn
I don't know if either of these is compatible with your device but my point is there are apps like these out there. A quick search through the play store should reveal them.

Thanks... I was hoping to not have to use a 3rd party app. The second one you mentioned requires payment for a one-click solution. I'd rather do it the original way if I can't find a built-in solution.
I first noticed it on my girlfriend's AT&T variant that she got on Friday. Hangouts is not in the app drawer. I noticed the same on my T-Mobile variant today. Also, the Google Music app is missing from the app drawer and I had to launch it by voice. Haven't had too much hands on time since I've been working all day, so I don't know what other apps are hidden, but has anyone else noticed this?
Also, going to hide/show apps from the app drawer still doesn't show these missing apps even though they're in installed. From the home screen, though, if I long press, I can add those apps - just not from the app drawer.

I am having the same problem as the OP. Maybe I am just blind but I do not see the Google folder in the app drawer. Just the one that is on the home screen.
I have a really strange issue. I downloaded and installed the Cumberland Farms App (use it to pay for gas) and it does not show up in the app drawer or in my list of installed apps via settings. If I go to Google Play it shows it as installed and I have to open it from there. I use Nova but if I'm not using Nova it still doesn't show on my G4. Only via Google Play.
Here is what I tried so far.
(1) Reboot
(2) Uninstall/Reinstall
(3) Cleared Nova Launcher Data
Any other ideas? It's only this app, very weird.

why not search within nova? in the app menu, swipe down and a search bar will show up. you can then search for the app there. when you find it, hold it and drag it outside of the search box and above the screen to Edit. add it to the main app menu
