T217 _T_ LTE radio compatibility with T217 _S_ ? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Suggests flashing sprint [cdma] files to a tmobile [very not cdma] device to obtain root. While neither tablet would be using the voice network I am concerned there would be an LTE band mismatch for data.
Would there be? If yes, would it be user correctable by setting, or would the needed radio magic be mia?
Would there be ceaseless radio errors draining the battery?

[T-Mobile USA Touch Pro 2 users only] can you keep 3G after flashing to stock ROM?

I asked similar question in different threads, and got different answers
pretty confusing
since the stock ROM from HTC includes radio ROM, I am kinda hesitant to flash my TP2 to CHT-HK ROM
please answer can or can't you keep 3G (AWS only, no 2100) after flashing with HTC stock ROM
Yes, you would still have 3G connection after you flash the Stock ROM (OEM). The 3G bands are Hardware related. Radio and ROMs are Software.
I am not saying this based on the theory... I am a T-Mobile USA TP2 owner and I did flash the Stock ROM form ASIA and I still had 3G connectivity on that ROM.
So Flash away...

GOOD!
will get TP2 for $400, plus activation and tax
will open up a 2 line family plan and 1 year contract, because it goes old really fast
and will flash it with CHT-HK ROM with hardSPL, will donate after it's done successfully
Agree with VizagDude
You will still have 3g once you flash the TMOUS Stock Rom.
Here is a link to the TMOUS Stock Rom I posted.

another question
is it possible to browse \extended_rom\ using total commander?
I will definitely to pull all the stuff out before flashing
it worked with MDA

You are a little misinformed. The radio is hardware and software. There is a hardware part and a software part. The software (radio rom) controls the hardware (the physical hardware radio) in the device.
Yes you will I'm using a Tmo TP2 and its fine, on certain roms it will display an H for HSDPA which is 3G, just I'm pretty sure the US refers to it as 3G.
It is called 3g EVERYWHERE, but the network type is HSPA. HSDPA is specific to JUST down, but pretty much all the 3g networks out there are actually HSPA since they also support HSUPA for the upload.
tested studiokuma Trad Chinese support
it works, but you have to do factory reset if you want to remove

Flashing a more Euro-centric radio?

Here is my situation:
I'm currently stationed in Europe, Poland to be specific. I use my Inc2 in GSM mode with a local carrier. After rooting and flashing CM7 for the first time, I noticed my reception getting significantly worse than before (And if not, it's pretty **** in the first place.)
I an attempt to remedy this, I flashed the newest .1111 radio from the Inc2 Development forums, unfortunately that not only didn't help - but resulted in a ~10db drop in my reception.
I figure that the "newest, bestest" radios (released by Verizon, correct?) are only there to improve reception within the United States, and a fellow like myself - looking to get the best possible reception within Europe - should start looking for an alternative.
I'm hoping somebody here will have had some experience with maximizing reception in Europe.

Custom Roms have different behaviors when it comes to GSM according to each Rom
try flashing another Rom , i suggest :
Andybones stock ( Based on the Latest OTA ) , it is not de-bloated , Note that latest OTA originally included the Radio you installed 1111
rmk sense ( the first release from Verizon ) and it is de-bloated
Both of the above Roms are Original Rooted firmware
do a super wipe before installing the Rom
choose GSM Only mode ( not the global mode )
if signal don't improve try
adding your carrier APN through APN settings manually
or you can Backup the APN's included in CM using APN Backup and restore from the market and restore them for one of the above roms , then use APN manager to activate your APN
Please note that this will override Verizon Global embedded GSM APN , Don't try this before trying the Roms with Verizon Global embedded GSM first and see the results

[Q] FIRMWARE UPDATE(which is which)

Hi Guys,
I want to update my current firmware version(2.3.6-DLC1)(Stock) to the latest stock(DXLM3) firmware for my country(Philippines)but i was hesitant which firware to download.
I visited samobile.com and i was confused on what to download on the site. there where 4 stock firmware with same baseband(below).
GT-I8150 Philippines (Smart) 2012 April Android 2.3.6 I8150DXLM3 I8150OLBLD1
GT-I8150 Philippines 2012 April Android 2.3.6 I8150DXLM3 I8150OLBLD1 - for some reason no indicated subscriber
GT-I8150 Philippines (Globe) 2012 April Android 2.3.6 I8150DXLM3 I8150OLBLD1 and
GT-I8150 Philippines (Sun) 2012 April Android 2.3.6 I8150DXLM3 I8150OLBLD1
FYI, im a smart subscriber, but i also have a globe and sun sim which i usually both use, depending on my needs(sun=call)(globe=call and sms my friends)(smart=net, txt and call=1 option).
I have read that there where problems with regards to signal, etc when you have not set the right firmware specific for your country or subscriber, would it be possible to explain what is the difference between on all 4 firmwares?and also which should i choose base on my needs..
thnx in advance^^..
I'm not really sure, but here's my guess:
The firmwares where the operator is indicated, they are "branded" firmware, containing perhaps apps that the operator requested Samsung to include in the phone. This usually go into phones offered by the operator with a service/contract bundle.
The firmware without operater is most likely an "unbranded" firmware, i.e., the firmware used by phones purchased without contract, from a 'neutral' reseller.
The problem with signal is due to incompatible baseband; the baseband is the piece of firmware that communicates with the BTS and/or WiFi Access Points. The Telecommunication Authority of a country may specify a certain behavior (out of several) regarding the communication standard with the BTS / WiFi AP (for example: WiFi Channel Selection, which 'variant' of GSM signaling used, which GSM signaling 'options' are legal, etc etc etc).
From the list of firmwares you gave, I can see that they are all using the exact same baseband: DXLM3. So, there should be no problem using any of them within your country. (Of course, you really should choose the 'unbranded' one to save you from having to deal with annoying operator-specific bloatware)

I see..thank you so much for clearing it out..this means that i dont have to reflash a whole firmware since they are using the exact baseband.
the main Reason i posted this, is beacuse im guessing this might be the cause of why my 3g signal is not appearing and i cannot use 3g services, im currently at CM-9(RC5) and 3g is not appering even if i am already registed on the service, already tried to reregister, on/off airplane mode, reset apn, even manually set it but still to no avail..

CM9 does not contain a baseband; perhaps your baseband needs to be upgrade.
@sigprof has extracted and repackaged a whole gaggle of baseband images to allow easy flashing using CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36690782
Get one, then flash the baseband right after flashing CM9.

How to getting support more band Frequency in software way ?

Hi All,
i just bought LG pro (E988) from Hong Kong, However, i found that it's not support 3G in Canada due to different frequency
( 850/1900 vs 900/2100). is it possible to gain more radio band reception by software way ? e.g Flashing ROM, Modem or etc.
Please help
Thanks
Gordon
Id like to know this also, would flashing AT&T KDZ help?

Frequency bands

I own the HTC One M8 16Go gold Asian version, phone is rooted with ElementalX kernel but stock rom. My phone works with 700 (b28)/900 (b8)/1800 (b3)/2100 (b1)/26000 (b7). I had the TW Mobile carrier in Taiwan. I want to add frequency bands to enable 4G LTE in Canada. Most carriers work with 1700/2100 (b4).
So how to add these frequency bands?
You need s-off ($25 by sunshine app) to change radio baseband (which changes band support).
You can flash AT&T or T-Mob US firmware to change to the corresponding baseband (both support Band 4 LTE). Or the correct Canadian carrier version's firmware; if you want to, and can find it (ATT and T-Mob are probably easier to find).
But you should also verify what bands your carrier uses for 3G, and that the new baseband supports it.
In my experience, AT&T has past or current associations with some of the Canadian carriers (still has partial ownership in some); and the networks share a lot of similarities. So AT&T firmware may be the best bet.
I installed Sunshine app but can't perform any test because it says Xposed Framework has been detected. I delete it but still the same error.

Try to restore the stock ROM, then root and run sunshine.
One thing to keep in mind, its not guaranteed that you will have LTE even with the proper baseband radio firmware. I've seen a number of folks that were not able to get LTE, even after s-off and flashing the proper radio firmware (that supports their carrier's LTE band). Don't know the reason for this, and never saw a solution. But just want you to be aware, in the event you spend the $25 on sunshine, and still can't get LTE.
But the fact that the Canadian networks seem to be very similar to AT&T, leads me to think the AT&T baseband radio will work for you. Not based on any specific/exact experience, just a hunch. So don't come and yell at me, if it doesn't work!
