If you're using a custom ROM, then just dirty flash it again. Eg. If you're using cm14 with arise sound mod, just flash cm14 zip again from recovery without wiping anything.

So, if you've installed soundmod then you've obviously rooted and have a custom recovery. So, just search for stock ROM zip and dirty flash it over the previous ROM. BTW which recovery do you use?

hey there XDA' ians ,
I am thinking of purchasing this device... I will be shifting from Asus Zenfone 2 to Motorola Z Play in a few days & i want to clear some queries before buying it....
1) If we root our device by latest current method is it possible to receive OTA.. In Asus zenfone 2,we had 2 root methods...If we rooted by 1 method we could update via OTA and if rooted by the 2nd method we couldnt update our device via OTA.... I am new to Moto family.... Can we apply the OTA if we root our device or we have to un-root and undo all the modifications & stuff done after rooting?
2) And if by any chance i end up bricking my new Moto Z Play after trying to root it...How will be able to un-brick my device and revert it to stock...Can someone help me with un-bricking and flashing the stock rom back to moto... And if possible can you share the download link for the stock rom... I will be buying the Indian version of Moto Z Play which has dual sim support...
Thank you guys....Really appreciate your help

so i just saw that there is no way to relock the bootloader on this phone once you've unlocked it. which i wish I had read beforehand. I guess i just assumed it would be possible since there were firmware images out there.
now to my question: is there anyway to bypass this to use Android Pay? i would really like to be able to use it. thank you to anyone that responds.

My understanding is android pay checks for a rooted phone, I believe you'll need to run seamless root method. There's tons of threads about running Android pay

Hi there,
I'm wondering if you can direct me to a good guide to installing a good audio software. The phone ships with the crappy Audio Effects app which doesn't even allow custom EQ. In particular I'm looking at viper4android but I'm open to any that will work with this phone.
Secondly, will installing viper4android negatively impact battery? I've seen a few references to this. Thanks

Screenshot Shutter Sound
Hi, has anyone found a way to disable the shutter sound when taking a screenshot on the Moto Z Play?
Sometimes it doesn't do it but haven't found why exactly.
The other way is to use "Total Silence" under Do Not Disturb settings but it's bothersome.

Is there built-in call recorder in Moto Z Play's dialer or do we need a separate call recorder to record imp calls?

Ah, Since You have "Allow to unlock bootloader = No", You cannot unlock Your bootloader, and there is no possible way to unlock it. You can always try ROM built for locked bootloaders.

bluetooth problem with AOSP 4.4.4 rom
1st of all i'd like to thank everybody who worked on this project and appreciate their work and
say that it seems the blue tooth does not work well because personally i have problems with my cars
head unit (pioneer deh-8950bt) .
every thing is ok from connecting to syncing contacts but there is no voice on calls just a i can hear
something like hummm and noises.
i didnt have this problem with stock rom.
and i had a hang while was on camera for a long period without taking a photo (just once).i dont use camera usually.
p.s : having less than 10 posts does not show im an idiot !
my phone :
sony xperia acro s
kernel 96
rooted
unlocked bootloader via flash tool
rom : 4.4.4 ASOP
link to thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785450
I can confirm this problem: listening to music via bluetooth works, but not handsfree.
I checked with a Sony MW600, an Arctic P311 and a Belkin Air Cast Auto.
When trying to make a call, only strange hissing sounds can be heard.
But there's another, much bigger problem with this rom:
After a few minutes of heavy usage (e.g. some websites, navigating with GPS) the phone freezes, the screen turns a strange yellow-red color and the phone reboots. It then enters a boot loop. Only after letting it cool for a few minutes will it start up again.
This happens from 0 to 10 times a day.
Apart from this, the rom is great.
Cheers,
Johannes
bluetooth problem
Hi
I love this rom - its so fast, but i have a problem with bluetooth and my jvc car unit. When i try to call by car unit i only hear noise - nothing else. I had this problem on AOSP 4.4.3 and on 4.4.4 also.
Have you any idea what is the problem? Thanks for your reply . Your work is great.
I found a possible reason for the frequent crashes. The CPU was overclocked to 1,8GHz by default. I never changed the clock speed and only found out after installing Setcpu.
At 1,6GHz the crashes have stopped.
Is that behaviour intended or a bug?
Cheers,
Johannes
Please say me how you installed rom,I installed CWM and my phone is rooted but i can t enter in recovery mode on my acro S

No that's why I'm warning people...any variant that takes the official lollipop update may never have a way of going back or getting on a custom ROM again...with the g3 official lollipop update...anyone that took it...is stuck on stock with no return as far as I know...I wouldn't be so happy about this official update guys...its also a shame some user warded of the few developers who could even get close to bypassing it possible...a user that released something he shouldn't have

Thanks for the warning, Rev, but we really have to wait and see. If the lollipop update makes the phone more locked than an iPhone, LG has shot themselves in the foot since they don't serve the developers community. Quite frankly if everything seems to be locked, I hope that LG provides a way to unlock the bootloader.

So, i just got me a brand new Z5p

Hello guys and wish you all merry xmas and happy holidays. So as title says a brand new Z5p landed on my hands and its still on Lollipop. Can i have your suggestions on which is the best stock rom update to flash ? i read scary stuff for 7.1.1 updates so your help would be much appreciated. Thanks @ all
Only Resurrection remix !!
Why did you buy an old flagship Z5P was 2015 and we are almost 2018
It was a gift , but I am liking it
I also recently got myself a Z5P. It was cheap so I'm not complaining. I was wondering the same about what's the best custom ROM to use for the time being.
I come from a Z2 on rooted 6.0.1. I'm currently running 7.1.1 on my Z5P and I'd like to root it. It seems like the current method requires an unlocked bootloader but I'm not quite inclined to do so, unless I'm assured I wont lose much or there's a way to backup my TA before rooting the thing.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share with us. I'll keep searching the forums for more information on the subject.
------------
Update: just went up and followed this guide. Yes I had to unlock the bootloader but now I'm happily rooted.

FIRST THING FIRST
download dirtycow script
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=22173
ref
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/universal-dirtycow-based-ta-backup-t3514236
enable USB DEBUGGING and EXTRACT you " D R M - K E Y S "
lets say you unzip the backupTA.zip on desktop
and run the batfile , on each successful attempt, it will paste TA XXX XXX XXX - timestamp.IMG file
you can run that script multiple times and it will extract same file with different timestamp as name ( i ran 3-4 times )
once you done
the rest discussion prevails

Yes I did, not a complete backup because that requires root as far as I know. But anyway, my phone had zero inconveniences when running apps both from Sony and from other developers. The play store shows device status as unofficial though. Not like it matters much to me, really.

I bought a new Motorola G7 Optimo (XT1952DL) (Its about all I could afford) It came with Android 9 which is what I want. However, it auto updated itself to Android 10 which I do not want.
Android 10 has made recording phone calls, (which IS legal in my country/state, basically impossible. I need this feature more than any other feature I can think of right now.
I have been told that downgrading back to Android 9 is not possible. I am wondering a couple things and I hope someone here will be kind enough to help Me.
1. Does anyone know of any way (paid app or otherwise) on Android 10 that I can record my calls, non speaker phone, without alerting the other party they are being recorded? (Again I live in a 1 party state which means I dont have to inform the other person I am recording and for obvious reasons I would like them to not know because I feel like this will either make them just lie, hang up, block my calls, or something similar.)
2. If this is no longer possible on Android 10 does anyone know how to downgrade to Android 9 and make it so that my phone will not automatically install Android 10 on its own?
3. If neither is possible for whatever reason, I would be interested in using a custom rom that would allow this feature and possibly add more features. The problem is that I dont know which is the best rom or how to install a custom rom, although I am very good with computers, so a little hand holding would be necessary.
** Not sure if this is allowed but I would be willing to donate a small tip in USD via paypal or something if someone could successfully help Me with this task. Call recording is something I feel should be standard as anyone can just simply lie to You or scam You on the phone and without proof You are kinda screwed.
- Thanks for any help, suggestions, etc. I hope this is a good community to help Me with my problem. - Regards

The device might be downgradable but you would need to unlock the bootloader.
Or there maybe a root option with the bootloader unlocked.

Well ...
Well the software Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant did in fact wipe and reset my phone to "factory" but it kept Android 10 eventhough it shipped with Android 9 so basically it didnt work.
If I loaded my phone with Cynogen (sp) or something similar that is based off Android 9 would that work? If so do You know of a link to a tutorial on installing that or have a recommendation on which to use?
- Thanks!

No lmsa will not downgrade firmware.
Factory reset only wipes user data it doesn't change firmware.

If you want to downgrade firmware you need to use
RSD Lite or fastboot.exe and bootloader will need to be unlocked before downgrade.
