Hello! I am building AOSP 7.0 Nougat for the Z5 Premium Dual and I am having an issue with my new kernel where the SIM cards aren't being read.
The new kernel where it is not working is built on the newest revision of Nougat 7.0.0 (r24 at this moment in time) that is now officially supported by Sony.
The old kernel where it IS working is built on revision 17 (the one Sony was supporting until now).
This is my first time building android so I would very much appreciate any help or suggestions!
The thread can be referenced under Original Development and I can upload the working and non-working kernel if needed!

surprisingly nobody has tried porting zte s6 rom which has the same chipset and is available with lollipop rom (32bit mind you)
the firmware is huge to download so i cant do it, also it seems the porting process has changed for lollipop based roms compared to kitkat
any brave soul want to try?
maybe @suhas.holla or @zeetherocker?
link to firmware

just tried and the link is working fine. use a PC to download it
ahh Didnt notice this. Will download tomorrow and try to port
I had tried to port CM12 from REDMI2 which had Dual sim working and same chipset
I successfully booted cm12 port from redmi2 but sim cards were not recognising. Lets see what can be done to this
and also their are many msm816 chipset ROMs which has lollipop ROM officially by manufacturer.
Bit of research found this Lollipop Kernel source 3.10.49 of ZTE S6. I think it would help to build cm12 lollipop kernel with dual sim working

Now thats what i am talking about, although sim on this port is also highly unlikely to work but its so cool to try out for fun sake.
Thanks suhas for trying out. and good thing you have found the kernel sources, might be just the thing we need.
hey @dumtara and @sooorajjj
could the kernel sources be any helpful?
bump @cdesai and @varun.chitre15

Sony Mobile is committed to supporting the open developer community, and one way to show this is by publishing parts of our code as well as selected tools developed by our internal developers.
For some of the Xperia™ devices, we provide Android™ Open Source Project (AOSP) device configurations on GitHub. This means that the software will be open for you as a developer to use and contribute to. This is a way for us to support the open Android community, and it is also a tool for us to facilitate and verify contributions to AOSP.

Summary
This is an attempt to get the Lenovo S6000H running CM12.1, which uses almost the same components as the Lenovo A3000H, but with a 10.1" 1280x800 screen. It could eventually be ported back in to the A3000H source, due to their similarities.
Status
Currently, I'm attempting to produce working ClockworkMod recoveries before I start work on the system.

S6000H; it's a similar architecture to the A3000H. I said that there was a potential of it being ported back to the A3000H. I believe that there are several changes needed to make a working recovery build in both device trees.
Good news!!!
I am interested in contributing to our A3000H but I don't know how to get started. Could you share some links of guidance for rookie dev?
I've just finished setting up the environment for building CM12.1, but later I messed it up with local_manifest.xml from another amazing contributor JustArchi in the thread of Galaxy S3, turning out with error. (Actually I didn't have time to fix it these days.)

this thread is for ETA not more and @gwhite5 is not a developer
Any luck on getting a functional build running? Any knowledge of anything more up to date than the stock 4.2 from Lenovo?
any progress?
Some news about this ROM or other ROMS on this tablet?
What is the process of upgrading an older kernel and device tree to a new android version?
E.g. I understand that oreo has a new device tree layout - how do I see that, and once I have got it, where would I start to port oreo to a nougat tree and kernel?
Sorry if this is an silly question - this is the first time I have considered upgrading a device to an unsupported android version and I am not sure where to begin
I've seen this guide referenced before. Not a direct answer to your question though https://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/guide-android-rom-development-t2814763
Hey guys,

Please.help...
And let me know how to flash custom kernel without pc and port new roms with that modified kernel for my MTK6582 device..
