Hi,
I updated to Malaysk 5.1.1 rom for November with success. I followed exactly the tutorial and everything worked fine.
Then yesterday, i tried to update to the last version of december (no in recovery mode like 1rst installation)
After the progress bar finished, it said me something like "unable to update the firmware" and then i rebooted it.
It never turned on again. Recovery mode doesnt work too... I controlled all fuses, cable & electric wires to be sure, put off the car battery but everything is ok.
It looks like it bricked or maybe an internal memory defaillance, the only thing i can do its put a cd and remove it, off course no read it, no sound, no noises, black screen like the car is off.
Do you think do something to save it is possible ?
Ok.
Download the factory tool v1.39
Google the above, it wont let me link yet.
Then plug the unit in to a laptop via usb (front usb? Is front on my ga6163f)
Then do a reset via reset button and press power button a few times. Aim is to get it into download mode (presented with black screen)
The software will show "loader" on one of the usbs when it's ready.
Stick the img file into program. Select restore.
Then go!
See what happens.

Did you try reading the FIRST post?
It's exactly the 5th line in the first post:
Restoring the device from a brick ( for 3188 ) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=869
Also, Erisin ES2246B means nothing, you should tell us what kind of unit (MCU) you have as well as which Malaysk ROM you installed. Then you might actually get help.

My unit is MTCB RK 3188 1024X600 with Android 4.4.4, CPUQuad-Core ARMv7 1608MHz.
First i put "update_5_1_1_FUSE_1024X600_RK3188_06_MAL_30_10_2016_MTCB" who worked fine & fews times later "dupdate_5_1_1_FUSE_1024X600_800X480_RK3188_9_MAL_18_12_2016_MTCD" then bricked the HU.
No i didn't came back to the main thread, tried to fine people with the same problem, so i found it now (the link you just posted doesnt work)...

I have a little problem, i tested 5.1.1 & i definitely don't like some points like :
- default colors & design of music app, amp, etc i put jet audio & it takes sames colors
- scrolling bar who need to scroll 2 times to acces to amp, brightness, wifi etc.... I find it doesnt respond as good as 4.4.4
- with all music apps when i touch the screen i see a red stroke / contour, it appears when the song changes to the next automatically too. When i put and listen DVD / CD it doesnt make this...
I remove mtc_Music but it doesnt change. I made a factory reset to solve this problem

There are several different types of MTC Music app, you can use those if you like, some on the fileserver, some in different threads for people that have modified them.
The "scrolling bar" as you put it, is a Lollipop thing, no matter what device you have Lollipop on, I agree you need to pull it down twice which is just ore hassle, but you need to speak to Google about that . . .

I see only for that i ll keep 4.4.4 so, i guess that amp app can't be change to native design ?!
I thought to try booroondook's rom 4.4.4 i read that it the only one who s really near the factory rom. What do you think about it ?
Because right now i need choose a custom rom to avoid problem of internal storage space... But put this rom looks like nt easy, expand internal storage manually looks like
not easy at all, booroondook's roms cant launch XposedMTC, & i really dont like design of somes apps made by Malaysk who gave me a little impress of an instable rom...
So complicated to choose !

Yes i put booroondook's ROM 4.4.43, the one i need, all is fine ! I successed to changed MTCmusic but i think i ll keep my jetaudio player plus, my prefered one. I downloaded XposedMTC_v1.4.2.apk and actived it to xposedInstaller, made framework updates, added carservices and then choosed it like music default app in XposedMTC. It doesn't work, when i pushed "mode button" when it arrive the turn who should be music app, it reboot and stays on logo animation, then need reset...
I installed XposedMTC_v2 (who don't have interface like 1.4!?) and put mtc-music - (From KM -) folder TO_SD_External folder (GPS Card) reboot all but same result...
Do i need to modify the .ini file ?
A lot of things i don't understand sorry & thx you to help me...

Hi Hdubli, can I have download link please,
http://hidemyass.com/files/xv4GF/ there you can download build 28008 for E100.
The flash for me was alright. Some notes though: the setup of Windows isn't working 100%, it seems to freeze at some point and a dropdownbox wasn't clearly shown. Also, the screen isn't used 100%: pixels at the side aren't used. Also, there seems to be a margin for the letters, as some letters at the edge (still in the active area though) seem to fall off.
edit: seems like something went wrong. I get the top bar showing the icons, but the yellow/orange Windows logo doesn't disappear. Have to do a hard reset I guess.
edit2: did a hard reset and this time I disconnected the phone from computer. Everything worked fine now, except that the outside pixels (about 5 on each side) are still not used. But the dropdownboxes all showed alright and it booted alright and installed extrom alright . Sry for the confusion, very good job on the ROM! Will test some more .

Everything works fine for me too now. Thank you for the ROM, great job. Love the new build, it's much finger friendlier!

Hmm there is a problem with ActiveSync: the device doesn't always want to connect. The computer says it is not connected, but the device says it is. After some time or after trying to disconnect, the device just freezes. Annoying .
edit:.
Man hate this. It's really the device, tried 3 computers and they all refuse the connection. They say connecting and then disconnected, while the device thinks it's connected. Really odd, as it worked flawlessly before! Did a clean install and still not working!

Bro, this is bug issue, never flash your ROM before you ensure you get your original WWE ROM as default.....
Most importan part, no one is response when my first post, and "they" always told to "flash it, any problem is advise". <--- this part is very funny.
Not sure what you mean calvin, but anyway I reflashed with this custom ROM and it works again. No clue what changed, as a clean boot didn't help. But I'm happy again. And in case something happens, I still have the original ROM so not much risk for me.
edit: ooh no not again. After the first night, it was screwed again. Can't connect anymore :S. Hmm maybe I should go back to default then

Are You using Xp, Vista or else?
Can You check if ActiveSYnc is disconnected when screen goes black (timeout on backlight)? Don't let that Windows Mobile adjust backlight but set it!
In my case never found this kind of problem, but I see in various forum that 6.5 build in some case goes with this problem, for example I got that situation with Vista and with original rom 21840 build.
Apologies for the slightly off topic post, but I don't suppose you guys know of any updated ROMs for the beTouch E200 do you? Would like to get an updated version of WM6.5 on this thing...
The problem is that the computer (tried both Vista and Windows 7) doesn’t connect, while the device says it is connected. Then nothing happens, except that the device freezes after some time or says that any program I want to run isn’t a valid PPC application :S. After a reset everything is fine again, except that I can’t use activesync. This both happens with USB and Bluetooth connection. The connection is also lost when I power off the phone manually. But that rarely happens: it always freezes before I even get to that point and then it doesn’t respond to anything.
Also, when I unplug the device before it freezes, I get an ARM error saying I need to go to some specific memory address or ARM will break. If I go to that address, the phone freezes with screen off, if I let the ARM break (what the...?!) it freezes with screen on .
I just flashed back to original ROM. The first sync is alright. If it stays alright, then definitely the custom ROM can be 'blamed'. If no further is heard, then everything is fine again with original ROM.

Hi,
To do a factory reset: Switch off the tablet.
Then power it up by pressing simultaneously and holding : Volume up + Home + Power
When in Recovery mode move the cursor with the volume key and execute with the power key.
Select Factory reset and execute it.

Hi,
OK, the first thing to know is which device you have: Sm-P600/601/605 ??
Then to know which ROM is installed on the tablet ?
If you can go to setting : then scroll down to "About the phone" you should see the version of the ROM.
With that you go to sammobile
You put your device type and you will get all the stock ROM's
You click on the one you want and on the next windows you will have the URL to download and the way to install it.
To be able to download the ROM you have to register on this site but it's free of charge !!

Its a SM-P600,
Kernel Version: 3.4.39-1691324
Build Number: JSS15J.P600XXXUAMI8_LLK
I tried that site but canceled it cause it said it will take 15h to download the firmware.
You can try from HERE
But I am not sure it will be any faster.
Those ROM's are quite big > 1.xx Gb so if your internet connection is slow it's take time.

One more question, I can´t seem to set some kind of password for the lockscreen since the lock screen option is gone in some way. It says something about Knox but what is that?
Can i add some other app that handles the lock screen?
About Knox: it's some kind of security introduced by Samsung some months ago, a real pain in the back..
Have a look HERE (for example) for more details.
Yes you can install applications w/o problem.
Knox will only get involved when you start playing with the ROM's, Bootloader etc ..
Hi
Hello guys, I have an Galaxy S6 Edge Demo version, I want to know if I change the motherboard with another with GSM function, it will work fine ?
The digital finger print doesn't work, I have to change the button or how can I fix this ?
And another thing, in the background of display, you can barely notice a text, this : Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, this thing is from display or motherboard ? Because I want to know, if I change the motherboard, it will dissapear that text ?
Thank you.
I would like to remove the starting screen ''Live demo unit'' on SM-T800X tablet to the stock one, and after flashing I have got the demo pieces of text in the bottom of the screen.
I tried to re-partition the install with ODIN and used a PIT file but no changes. Anybody can help with this problem please ? Is there any solution to change the demo unit to look as a stock SM-T800 ?
Also if there any solution to change KNOX value to 0 would be great.
Hi everyone,
Obviously this forum is a great resource for these head units, a lot of people putting in a lot of hard work (as is often the case on XDA).
I believe for some (myself included occasionally!) that the quantity of information and terms/language used can be a little overwhelming.
Add to that the fact that the forum is somewhat fragmented, it can be a bit hard to know where to start (although it is good that this is being addressed at the moment by splitting it up into sections.)
I was wondering if anybody had created or would be willing to look at creating, an 'idiots' style guide for the very basics.
I.e. assume that somebody with no knowledge in this field has purchased one of these units and simply wants to:
Get root access
Backup the current unit completely in case of problems updating etc
Locate the correct firmware/ROM for their unit.
Install the new firmware/ROM
Any further info can be found through research in the forums, all depending on what mods/apps etc the individual wants.
Thanks all!

I agree, I think this would be a good idea :good:
I would be willing to put something together from what Ive read on here but I'm still unsure of the best way to take a backup? Is the only way not through TWRP which then means you can't update your MCU again?
You do not need a backup of your ROM as most factory ROMs are available for flashing.
did you read the Wiki-Artikel and the Knowledge-Thread?

Hi
Yes i did read them, and i'm sure i could use that to get through what i want to do.
Although the knowledge thread does state "IT IS ADVISABLE TO BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE PLAYING WITH IT" so i assumed i did need to make some sort of backup
It also advises using "nandroid root" form play store, there are various apps with similar names to this, but not exactly this name.
Just little things like this put seeds of doubt in my OCD mind
Wasn't meaning to criticize in anyway, was just giving my opinion (which may well not be the same as everyone elses!)
Cheers

I agree. You are a developer: could explain to me why in these units, that theoretically they are Android, I can't do a full backup and in my Smartphone if I can do it.
For example with TWRP or CWM and retrieve it without problems.
I think that the former companion wants to say is:
I have my unit (Smartphone or auto) and when I have all my programs to my taste I do a backup. But one day I want to try some update that I have seen in the Forum. I do and I get wrong; as I have my backup, nothing happens. I restore it and that's all.
This I have done it many times with my Smartphone, from GingerBread to Lollipop.
Many Thanks

The original Recovery is not that advanced as TWRP and others are.
The problem is that it is using special proprietary code to flash the MCU and if you replace it you are not able to flash MCU anymore until you install the original recovery again.

Thanks mate. So the safest way to do a backup would be to take a backup of the original recovery then install TWRP and take a backup of the ROM with that? I know there are stock ROMs on the server but I would just like to be 100% sure.
I did this in my room "Go to Factory setting enter *#hct#root#"
After that I have root access and I can backup or freeze my apps with titanium backup. The problem is when I try to remove a system app, the app is not removed. I need to do more steeps?
thanks a lot

Did you install superSU?
Go to apps and stop the one you are trying to remove. Change the extension to back or old. That should do it.
Turn developers mode on if you haven't. Password adbon in factory settings.

Yes and no. Joyous is a manufacturer. There are several resellers who go under different names. I believe pumpkin is one. Do a search for huifei and in the mega thread they list several of the resellers.
Hi all, I'm in the same boat that I am reading like fury but there are thousands of pages, so I really appreciate this thread, and the contributions and the Wiki's.
I've got a MX v2.72 and found the following worked perfectly to get me past the first hurdle.

If you are new to Android, the first thing I would suggest is looking at replacing the Launcher. This will give you a lot more freedom
to add widgets for things like Shuttle and other apps you may want to try. I would also leave the ROM stock for as long as you can stand to do so. Take notes as you work with the stock ROM of the changes you would like to make, and search through the threads here to find if
you can make them without flashing to a custom ROM.
Rooting this unit is quite simple by using the temporary root method. Enter *#hct#root# as the password when opening System Settings.
DO NOT REBOOT. First go to the Play Store and Install the SUPERSU app by CHAINFIRE Once you have done that, let the system reboot,
and then go back to System Settings and enter the password adboff This will turn off the temporary factory SuperUser app, but you will still be able to use the CHAINFIRE SUPERSU app you installed to control root access of your apps.
I will say that if you want to jump in off the deep end, Malaysk has put together some awesome stuff.
I started with a DSA Rooted Stock Rom and installed APEX Launcher, mostly because it let me get started with a built in root,
and it also gave me 2 or 3 GBs to install other apps where the Stock ROM from the Factory only had a 1 GB partition.
Have Fun, and
Good Luck,
Rick

I still dont really understand how i can do a nandorid (or similar) backup, as i do not have root (see last post) and the backup apps require it.
The knowledge thread states the only way to root 4.4.4 is to install a pre rooted rom, meaning i could not backup factory rom.
I cannot see my rom available on here anywhere, and the manufacturer aren't providing it to me so far....

I do not remember what the the confirmation said, but a toast bubble popped up on the screen. maybe it said "root enabled" something along those lines. But after it is rooted in the settings there will be a new menu called Superuser.
If *#hct#root# is not working try adbon then *#hct#root#.
But my system is a KitKat 4.4.4 so I know it will work on 4.4.4. However, I have a Joying unit. From what I read Joyous makes a good number of these units but not all. I have no idea if your particular unit is compatible. Read the mega thread I think the various makers are addressed in there somewhere.

Hello, I have flashed several roms ranging from marshmallow to nogout and can-not get Viper4Android to work. Let me explain the problem. V4A only works with the music player that comes with the initial install but does not work with any player that I have paid for such as the likes of Jet Audio and Neutron Player. This is highly frustrating as the cheesy player that comes with the initial install is not strong enough to kick my duel air chamber headphones. I have tried all the normal fixes that normally work such as switching SElinux mode to permissive and some other ones that Viper users quite frequently use. If anyone is willing to help me figure this out or has already solved this problem or knows of some fixes to this that would be highly appreciated if I could get your feedback to this problem. Any and all replies are welcome.
Ok, guys heres an update: I got V4A to work on customized stock ViperOne based on stock marshamallow by changing the HTC_AUDIO_CONF file to the same name but with .bak at the end of it but it only works for headphones so when I connect the usb DAC it shows yes, yes, yes witch means working for usb but there is no sound output. Now that I got it working Im going to figure out how to get it to output sound through the usb dac otg When I figure that out im gonna start working on how to get this to work on most of the custom roms for our device. But one thing at a time. Also some help from the people who use V4A on HTC would be nice.

You should really use that edit button instead of making few posts in a row Also about thanks - look at my signature.
I've used it on all the roms I've used - MM sense and customs, N customs and those two zips always worked.
However, I'm currently on stock, unrooted, unmodified MM sense and it doesn't work - the app flashes, but the status is abnormal, it can't modify the system partition - simply put, stock rom needs to be rooted in order for v4a or other things to work, just pointing that out.

I always use root even if I'm on stock. That is a must. When I'm on stock no root means can't do certain things. Kinda like if you were to have no sudo on Ubuntu. I wouldn't be able to install anything so root is a must. Always has been. I wrote those posts before I tried it out. My HTC was charging but yea whole lot of posts. OK I just edited this because I ported the two files audio config and policy config from my old droid 4 running ressurection and it worked. I did this because the radio wasn't working with that flashable zip from the link you gave me.I added a small touch of my own to one of the files and wola there you have it all audio including the radio works. I was wondering if you would like to test the two files on your device to confirm that it works and it isn't just working on mine. That way I could put files in XDA and share them for other users to use.
Hey all
I very recently made the mistake of upgrading my phone, not realising that it was a complete overhaul from 8.0 to 9.0. I absolutely hate it. There are a dozen downsides and, as far as I have noticed, not a single benefit to this upgrade. I have gotten frustrated many times already due to the stupid little changes and have spent a good portion of my day attempting to figure out how to reverse it.
Now I'm not that tech-savvy, and the only method to get back the phone I knew and loved is to 'flash' it (?) using a software which I have acquired. I must also apparently make sure to back up my data because downgrading in this manner apparently does not ensure any of your personal data is protected.
So my question here is twofold:
1. Does anybody have the UK version for the latest 47.1.A.16.20 firmware as an appropriate file (FTF?) for me to get back the phone I paid for as opposed to this crap?
2. What would be an appropriate method of backing up my phone such that I can recover it all post-flash with all of my settings and user data intact?
Thank you all so very much for your help!

Just downgrade it yourself, you won't damage the phone or change your warranty status.
Here is a copy of 47.1.A.16.20, It's not the UK version, but that makes no difference
Download Newflasher and put it in the same folder as the firmware you downloaded
Delete persist*.sin to avoid losing android attest key.
Turn phone off completely. Then start newflasher.exe and follow instrctions. Plug the phone into the pc whilst holding volume up(+), then no & no in the newfalsher dialog box, then you should be away.
You might need a copy of the Sony driver
I would make a backup with Xperia transfer before you do anything, you can't keep your data when you downgrade, so this would be the easiest way of keeping the important stuff. Back up onto your sdcard, then restore once the flash has completed.

Hi Steve, I accidentally installed the update today and I wish to revert too. Apparently the Xperia XZ1c has DRM keys for things like the camera and video processing which if custom firmware is flashed will be lost. Is this an issue when flashing an older version of a stock xperia rom like you are suggesting? Thanks

No unlocking the bootloader is an entirely seperate procces and can't be done accidently flashing firmwares. You have to get an unlock code from Sony and do some ADB magic.
There is another tools called Flashtool, that does the same thing as Newflasher, but has the power to delete your DRM, if driven improperly, so I don't recomend that.
Newflasher is safe to use and won't damage your TA partition (DRM keys), just note the persistxx.sin removal, that stops damage to one of the partitions.
You can't keep you data when retro-grading, you must wipe the phone to factory, there isn't any other way.

Hey PCB! Could you tell me more about all those downsides? I'd like to know more before/if I (ever) decide to upgrade.
I know that clock on the left-hand side would irritate me. Also, volume buttons defaulting to media is something I don't like.
But you mentioned "a dozen" so I'm curious.
Tnx!

Hey man! I wrote up a few reasons on a Reddit post earlier so I'm just going to paste that if that's okay!
Volume button now always does media volume instead of a sliding scale for normal stuff ie ringtone
Lots of irritatingly unnecessary changes such as the time now being in the top right so my muscle memory has me checking the time and I'm momentarily confused.
They've changed the overall aesthetic to be more Apple-y resulting in a really weird look, making the text in most places look larger than usual (especially the notifications).
The pull-down-from-the-top menu now shows two rows of enlarged buttons instead of three like before.
The WiFi and Bluetooth drop down menus have gone, so now if you want to quickly switch between two networks instead of being able to do it all in one screen you have to go to the settings page for WiFi and Bluetooth.
(this one is very minor) the colour of the keyboard has gone from black and orange (which I liked) to black and blue.
I know it sounds like I'm being awfully nitpicky but honestly the few bits of functionality that were removed were things I relied on a lot; I just don't appreciate such ****ty unnecessary changes for no apparent reason.
As far as I can see, there are absolutely no improvements or upgrades or anything at all that I can point to and go "yeah that's worth it."
I've been using this update for only a little while and I'm sure that there are other things which'll pop out at me over time as well!
Hope this helps mate

These two are absolutely unacceptable. An update should never remove features or make previous things harder to do, this update is an absolute joke. Now once again I have to go through the arduous process of factory resetting my phone to downgrade simply because Sony couldn't put out a competent update to save their lives.
Thanks mate! I agree with you 100%. The phone is "perfect" just the way it is and some changes, that Google and Sony made, should totally have been optional. I would upgrade it just for curiosity.... but I don't wanna regret it later.
Cheers!
Are we talking about toggles? You do know that you can add a third row? For WiFi and Bluetooth just do the long press and go to settings.
I've just updated and am I wrong or the recent app switcher and the navigation bar are still the same and not the Pie version?

I can only have two rows shown at a time on mine! I looked in the settings as well, any other buttons now have to be swiped across to access because of how ludicrously large they made them.

Hi, me again
I tried flashing the phone today with newflasher but to no avail. I downloaded those xperia drivers, added them using device manager, and the hardware wizard gave the following message
"The following hardware was installed:
Sony sa0117 ADB Interface Driver
The software for this device is now installed but may not work correctly.
This device cannot start (Code 10)"
I tried flashing anyway after the phone had been put into debug mode but newflasher simply prompts whether or not I need GordonGate flash driver. If I type "n" to skip, it throws the error
"No usb device with vid:0x0fce pid:0xb00b !"

If you're using Windows 10 it would have completly failed to install your driver and didn't bother telling you. Restart Windows 10 in safe mode and look for 'driver signing disabled', then try again.
Edit: or click 'Yes' to first question in Newflasher and it will prodice a zip file of the drivers you need, then apply as above.
