hi guys, i seldom post a thread here. but there is something that has been bugging me for few weeks. whenever i install sense base android M rom like Viperone M8, Skydragon, S5.2-X10.0.9u / SL-2.0.1, JW, Android Revolution HD 53.1 etc, when the screen is off, wifi will be disconnected few seconds after. but when i install cyanogenmod 14.1 and resurrection remix, the problem is not there. moreover for these sense Marshmallow roms battery life easily depleted when phone is on or off, or when before it is off (battery 40% for example), after 1 minute when it is on back it will be less than 20%. it puzzled me a lot
is there any sense Marshmallow rom that dont have this issue?
thanks guys. im not experienced using HTC phone. need help for u guys
Maybe a silly/obvious question, but in Settings>WLAN>(3-dot menu)>Advanced WLAN, what do you have selected for "Keep WLAN on during sleep". Obviously, you will want "Always" selected here, if you don't want it to turn off WiFi when screen is off.

Firmware (I specified hboot, radio, etc.) has nothing to do with the ROM. Don't mix up the 2 terms. Firmware specifically refers to a variety of partitions that do not get flashed with a ROM.
To determine firmware version, look at bootloader screen, and tell us what it says for hboot number, radio baseband number, and OS number.
Alternately, do fastbootgetvar all, and post the results (delete IMEI and serial number before posting).

Hello awesome crowd,
I flashed my DHD to CyanogenMod 7.1.
One day on it, I noticed idle radios were eating serious battery, so I decided to update to the latest available from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295
Flashed the radio, then installed the RIL, all seemed to run smooth, until reboot. When no GSM was available anymore.
Please help me fix the radio
Missed to say that Settings>About is reading "Baseband Version UNKNOWN".

Maybe try re-flashing your ROM (without wiping)? I'm guessing you've flashed an HM RIL which are meant for Sense ROMs.
//sent from my HTC Desire HD using Tapatalk; all errors entirely intentional.
God bless you, hopscotchjunkie for the fast response.
I did as suggested and my GSM is back. May not be brilliant on the battery but hey - still working
more complicated
I found this threat's got a similar issue as mine, unless it displays the correct baseband as what I wanted to flash to it, the. Thing is it's only able to connect to 3g network, 2g network are still indicating no service although the signal got full bars, can you guys tell me what I purpose to do??

RIL is just for sense based roms. AOSP roms do not need RIL, so changing it will mess it up. You can flash a radio but that's it.
Re: Cyanogen > Flashed Radio + RIL, now no more GSM (No Service)
Do you ever need to flash rils coming from a cm based rom to sense based? Because as I recall, sometimes the dev has said a ril is included with the rom?

Hi Everyone,
Long time listener, first time caller.
Over the last couple of months, I have tried virtually every ROM I can get my hands on for my DHD, and I always do a full wipe (format) of /system, /data, /cache, Dalvik, and .android_secure before install.
The only ICS ROM I can get working fully is Blackout, but it is Sense 3.6.
I have tried Viper, and *really* like it, but Bluetooth is broken (in 1.2.0, .1, .2, and .3)
That seems to be the case for me with Sense 4 ROMs (lite or full); if Bluetooth works, then WiFi is broken. If WiFi works, then Bluetooth is broken.
ROMs I've tried (latest):
Viper
Miui
Jellytime
ARHD
Blackout (S3.6, which is where I'm at b/c it works)
IceCold
IceSense
CosmicSandwich
Sabsa
codefireX
Kernels I've tried (various releases up to latest):
Beastmode
KangBang
Virtuous
So, I'd like to know if there is such a thing as a fully-working ICS/JB ROM with Sense 4? I cant seem to find one. W/o Bluetooth and WiFi, nothing can be considered a "daily driver", imo... especially w/o Bluetooth, if you know what I mean.
Thanks!
I'm baffled; all of those ROMs should have both BT and wifi fully working. What's your recovery and version?
EDIT: and what's your radio?

Same here, bluetooth is one of the few things that ALWAYS work (except for 4.2.1, but that's expected).
Are you wipping between flashes ?
Thanks for the replies, guys.
As I outlined above, yes, I am fully wiping b/t ROM installs - even restores - please see my method in first post.
I am using ClockworkMod Recovery (HBoot for booting) and have paid for ROM Manager, which entitles me to further updates to CWM than what is available on Play. I currently have 5.8.1.5 installed (CWM Touch).
The radio varies from ROM to ROM it seems, and I should have documented which version in each ROM, but right now, in Blackout, it is reporting 12.56.60.25P_26.10.04.03_M. <--- That number stays consistent, afaik, but the first letter will change (U and T, iirc).
When I say that Bluetooth doesnt work, specifically what happens is that it either doesnt pair with any device, or if it does pair, no sound will be transmitted or the pairing will only last for a second, maybe two seconds at most.
Deleted.
Sent from a dream.
The radio shouldn't be changing with each ROM unless you change it. But with that said, nothing seems out of the ordinary. You could try reflashing your radio manually? Other than that I'm out of ideas.

I dont know much about that, but with that said, I just re-flashed Viper 1.2.3 and my radio now reads:
12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M, which is different than it was above with Blackout.
I have not tried re-flashing my radio manually. I wouldnt know which one would give me a better chance of success...

Once I flash a new ROM, the kernel and the radio are the same I had or the new ROM comes with its own kernel and radio?
Thanks in advance
roms do not come with radios tho they do have their own kernels. Radios are region based not rom based so there is no rom specific radio just what works best in your area.

Thanks for the explanation. So, if I bought my mobile in Spain, the radio is different if I had bought, for example in France?
depends on how close they are to each other whether same service is used in Spain as in France or if they are totally two different service. I would Google the carrier you use then see what radio they shipped with. Even in the radio thread you may find an answer to which radio is good for you in the area your at.

Hello there, I'm currently using android revolution hd lollipop Rom so my firmware is 4. something, but I'm not overstruck on lollipop, I'm s-on, can I just flash a 4.4.4 Rom or is there more to it (I fancy flashing the viper Rom) sorry for being a noob lol
You can if you wish but if you've been using LeeDroid (good ROM) you might be using the new FW (4.16.401.10). If so, 4.4.4 ROMs won't work properly (things like WiFi will die)
Thank you my friend....yeah I'm on the 4.16 firmware, but do not like lollipop....so I'm stuck with it ....

Actually, ill take back the badness about lollipop, only owned this phone for two days, used lollipop on other phones, and its been sluggish and battery hungry, but HTC (and the legend @LeeDroid ) have created a nice rom, and the battery is very good, its actually not much different than kitkat
oh and @EddyOS thank you for your past roms you have posted, used to work in a phone shop, used to use your stock rooted roms on many many HTC phones respect mate!
No worries, been a long time since I made a ROM!
I'm having problems getting a custom rom to work on my HTC One M8.
The custom roms that have tried so far are Resurrection Remix, Android Revolution HD, Viper One M8, CyanogenMod and they all get stuck at the Starting Apps screen.
I tried an older Viper One M8 rom, (ViperOneM8 4.3.0 – Last stable M8 based Sense 6 rom) and it installed fine, went past starting apps screen after a second.
What am I missing?
I also installed Resurrection Remix on a Note 2 yesterday and it was fine no issues at all.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Just tried AICP Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow ROM for HTC One M8 - same thing, stuck on Starting Apps screen.....

Is your firmware up to date? And the new Android versions use ART, so initial bootup times are longer than they were when Android used Dalvik.
I am having this same issue. Is this anyway to fix this?

Neither you or the OP have even made it clear what the issue (if there is one) is, if you look at the response above yours. Plus, stock device, or modded? If custom ROM, which one(s)? In other words, please refrain from just posting "I have the same problem" as this is never enough info for us to work with, and properly help you.
Is it actually "stuck" meaning not progressing at all, and for how long?
The ART cache takes a pretty long time to build (and that is what is happening when it says "Starting Apps"). Could be 10 minutes or so, depending on the number of system apps in the ROM.
I'm also stuck on Starting apps..Preparing to start apps. I've ported AOKP ROM to my Cherry Mobile Touch XL 2.

Hey guys,
Anyone getting random crashes? The phone completely freezes for about good 10 seconds, then reboots. They're not frequent, about once every 2-3 days. I'm using Elemental X 3.18.20 with stock HTC 10 6.0.1 OS, and I'm fairly sure it's due to the kernel.
Any suggestions? Or any better kernel to upgrade to?
this is better asked in the elemental thread. but you have to be more specific about what firmware your running, saying os 6.0.1 wont help much. need to know carrier, current firmware, and EX version instead
