So I just got a new Z5P for myself and I have the Dual SIM version (E6883). I factory reset it with the help of the
Xperia Companion. I then proceeded to move all my stuff from my old Z3 Dual onto this phone. Seemed great until
I realized I have no Play Store and no Google Play Services.
Everything works and things moved to the SD card very easily by just going into the "Data" part and telling it to move data.
I tried to get a Google Play Service but they all caused major problem and didn't work at all. The only one that seemed to "work"
keep resetting my phone and when it reset it would 'Optimize Apps" and then turn on. Except none of the apps worked cause it said
they were on the SD card and couldn't be used.
So I have no idea what's up or how to fix it. There are so many different Play Store and Play Service APKs I don't know which one is for this version.
Or even why it's missing. Why does it matter? Well I have no link to my Google Account like this, or Calendar. Almost no games want to work without the
Play Services.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, is there a working Root out for it now?

I recently got a Droid RAZR, however I Still have my Xperia Play which I wanted to use for media and gaming. My Droid RAZR uses a different size SIM card from the Play so my Play's SIM card was cancelled and I was given a smaller one to fit into my RAZR.
Everything works fine with the Play once the expired SIM card is still inserted in the Play, though obviously I cannot connect to any mobile network. The SIM card shows up as "Unregistered SIM card. [SIM card not provisioned MM #2]"
With the expired SIM inserted in the Play, I can update apps, Facebook and email/Gmail works, as I said everything is fine, minus being able to connect to a mobile network. However, when I take the expired SIM out of the Play, I can no longer connect to Facebook, Gmail no longer works, etc[Opera still seemed to work however, it first said I needed to accept a new certificate to continue.]
I wonder why this is? It seems that a SIM card must be inserted inside the Play [even if it is not registered with a mobile network carrier] for some of the WIFI features to continue to work.
This is pretty scary stuff because, suppose I had given my mobile carrier my old SIM card when I got my RAZR? I would basically have a useless Xperia Play unable of updating the games launcher etc.
Is there anyway to fix this? I don't want to be forced to have a "Unregistered SIM card" in my Play for it to continue to work as a media device such as an iPod Touch, Samsung Galaxy Player, Sony Walkman Z or any other non-mobile phone media device.
Thanks.
I just got my new unlocked Fire Phone about a week ago, and after a week of use, I love this phone but do have a couple of questions to help out my experience.
1)I find the need to use Google Play for a couple of apps... Tried downloading the google play store useing a video o a different post found, only to find that a "Google Play Services stooped" error rendered my phone useless. I uninstalled all the google apps and my phone worked fine, but still need gale play.. How can I fix this??
2) I currently have Fire OS 3.6.8 but read that there is a new Fire OS 4.6, but my phone wouldn't update it. What can I do to fix this??

I hate this phone right now because Google updated its play services to 7.8.3.
1. You probably installed Play services 4.4.x, but it then updated it automatically to 7.8.3. That has been breaking everything google on this pone.
2. check the general forum and you'll see them.
I can't wait until I get the LG G4.

Actually, update your phone first. I had the same issue with the google play store, so I completely removed it from the phone. After the most recent update to FireOS, everything works smashingly. Uninstall google play services, update your phone, then put everything google back. Bada bing, bada boom, all better.

Agreed. After updating to 4.x it's been great. Even the overlapping font on google maps is gone. I can change my keyboard easily.
But I'm still going to get the LG G4.
OK THANKS IN ADVANCE...not just wasting space SERIOUSLY THANKS!
Verizon(fmr prepaid) boxjob - HTC Desire 526 (x2 devices)
**UNABLE TO ASSOCIATE ANY GOOGLE ACCOUNT(S) FOLLOWING FACTORY RESET REPEATED AND CONTINUOUS ERROR "Unfortunately, google play services has stopped"**
Tangled web begins... Verizon prepaid activated working fine until screen broken barely usable. Purchased 2nd Desire 526 boxjob used few weeks on wifi only never activated worked fine. Needed a complete device to add to my existing post pay verizon number ...i must be last to learn prepaid devices must be activated for one month of prepaid service before can be brought to regular verizon acct. Doubt any of that matters but just in case.
Quickly saw that was MUCH EASIER to swap "old device" motherboard/camera/headphone jack etc cluster to the intact and properly sealed screen and digitizer. The only parts that remained of the newer device (as far as i can tell) is the usb port and speakers in their housing. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS COMPLETE IN THE MOTHERBOARD PIECE including SIM slot and SD SLOT...simply attach ribbon cables x2 to display x1 vol and pwr keys and x1 display snap on cable SIMPLEST SWAP I HAVE YET TO MAKE.
Everything was going amazingly well ...swapped OLD phones Device Number to verizon acct and YAY ALL IS FANTASTIC ...UNTIL went to add my gmail accounts to the device ... NO DICE !!
I have attempted to sneak up on the process thru browser, rebooted, RESET AGAIN and again, followed the forums I have read and cleared cache, cleared data, FORCED STOP THEN clear cache clear data (or manage data clear data) depending if PLay Store or Play Services or Play Services Framework.
I have downloaded latest .apk files of both store and services directly from phone as well as to computer then move to phone.
I have followed all the instructions for the latest KingRoot / Super SU
{Temp-Root}(100% Working) How to Get Temp-Root Desire 526 {King-O-Root}
AND THATS WHERE IM JUST GOING TO HANG TIGHT CAUSE THE WAY THIS READS ITS HARD TELLING IF I AM ACTUALLY ROOTED OR NOT ...Guessing the lack of "big named" or few any other custom ROM threads means its highly unlikely I have been successful.
WARNED IT WAS A MESS ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT...need at least one google account in order to update or even use play store etc.

Not sure how comfortable you are with rooting, but I removed every trace of Google from my phone and downloaded a TWRP flashable installer that has the latest versions of all Google apps. The installer I got also came with a wizard to let me select which apps to install.
It's probably not that serious, though. You probably just need to clear the data from the app causing problems and clear your cache from the recovery partition.

My nephew just got a "new" Moto Z Play from the Verizon store for Christmas. However when he turned it on there were a bunch of contacts already loaded in the phone and since apps installed that don't seem like the usual Verizon bloat. Is there any way to determine if this phone is used?
Thanks

Back in the day (I'm talking early digital cell networks here) many devices had lifetime uptime clocks in them. That's what we used to use to determine this. Not sure if that even exists in Android though...
Is this his first Android phone? During the set up progress you can sign into your gmail and itll will restore any apps or contacts you have synced with your google account.
If the phone did not greet you with a set up progress and just went straight into the phone home screen then yes the phone has been used and has not been factory restored..
Id suggest dont do anything on it and bring it back if so.

Hello all, reached into a drawer to mess with xperia play I want to sell after a few years. I have a 8 gb card in it (learned that it acts silly on usb without that), but the issue is that the Market app seems broken and the phone is seemingly not updating it to google play.
I seem to remember that back in the day my xperia play when reset would after a few minutes/hours of being connected to wifi and connected to a google account would update the Market app to the Play Store and things would work fine. Not this time. I"m worried that if I sell it like this the buyer will be unhappy and come back to me.
Market says:
"attention, a server error has occurred, retry or acancela nd return to the previous screen." Retrying twice puts it back on a load screen which seems to do nothing. Hitting menu button brings up search, my apps, settings and help as normal, help loads up website, settings brings up settings as seemingly normal...
Please help! Device is vanilla, unrooted, never was, and sd card is 8gb and freshly formatted.
Did you find a fix for this? IT was working great until I did a factory reset now I'm stuck with this error I have tried resetting again. Clearing data and catch it doesn't do anything.

Sadly no, no solution. I sold the phone and the buyer has left me positive feedback, I assume his intention was to go full out and put on a CFW to what he wanted with it. Someone on reddit suggested that gingerbread may to be too old to receive updates now and that all xperia plays might be in the same boat.
As for me, I'm using an Nvidia Shield, Tuvva gamepad and GP7 these days. I do miss the Xperia Play's portability and other strengths. If I could have a xperia play with updated specs and a 5 inch or bigger screen I would buy it on launch day.
I downloaded a Play Store apk and installed that and it automatically updates the market to Play store. Hope that helps.
