Home unto / finger print broken - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have searched for an answer but could not find anything as a solution.
My home button works on neither viper nor leedroid; it simply does not respond. Is there a known solution? I reflashing does not work either.

If you are on the N versions of either of those roms it depends on what Firmware you have installed. If you are on M Firmware you need to install the fix for Viper from the hub, unless they changed that on the newest version. As for Lee's rom during the aroma installer it will ask which Firmware you are on and it should work from there if you select the correct setting.

Thank you for the reply! I installed leedroid with the N based firmware. Can you tell me how to proceed without losing my apps and data?

You could use a tool like Titanium Backup and make sure it is on your SD card or move it over to a PC after the backup. You could also try a dirty flash depending on what ROM you are on right now.

OK I'm on leedroid beta 2 right now. So basically reflash with no wipe?

That should do the trick but it would still be wise to have some sort of backup somewhere.

Dirty flash did not work

At that point it sounds like you might need to do a full wipe. There should be some good instructions in that thread.

when it asks you for the firmware you are using during the installer, you need to choose the old one...else your fingerprint is broken.
You are obviously choosing the wrong option during installtion.

I still got this firmware on my phone. Didn't do anything with it yet. So if anyone could tell me how to take this rom from my phone I could upload it...
PDA: I9000XXJF3
PHONE: I9000XXJF3
CSC:I9000XENJF1
My mate has also still this stock rom on his galaxy, but i dont know how to get the rom out of his phone.
At the moment it seems that there is no way to get back to the stock rom. I hope my phone won´t get an Hardware error cause there is no warranty atm with this "unofficial" rom

Hi
Do you still have the stock rom or you flashed already???
in case you still have it, can you back it up for me?? you can do that by using clockworkrecovery. its completely safe. You can download the attached zip file, rename it to update.zip and put it on the root of your phone internal memory, turn the phone off. then hold down the volume up+home button+on simultaneously. keep them pressed until you get into the recovery mode.
choose apply sdcard:update.zip and press home buttonv(you can change selection using vol up down)
that will start the recovery tool, using vol down navigate to the option (nandroid) and then click the power button once then chose the option (backup) and click power button once more. The phone will automatically start the backup procedure. after it finishes the backup choose the option (reboot system now)
The stock Rom backup will now be found in a folder in your internal memory in the following path(/sdcard/clockwormod/backup/2010-xx-xx.xx.xx.xx) the Xs replace the date and time. inside this folder you'll find 5 files. These files are your back up of the stock rom and you can share these with us.
incase you want to flash the backup back into your phone you can use the same procedure but this time choose restore rather than back up.
Ifyou managed to back it up please let me know as i was so stupid to flash a cooked rom thinking i can easily get the original rom.
Thx
What about the personal data ?
Is it that the personal data is included in the dumped rom? Do you only need the system file ?
Actually I 'd be anxious about my personal information.
I propose to sticky a thread dedicated to nandroid stock as well as rooted backups.
Does anyone want DDJF3?
I have a complete nandroid of DDJF3.

Well, regarding personal data i must say i have no idea, but as long as it is a 1:1 copy i assume everything is backed up. So if you are going to back up your ROM to share with others here is what you need to do before doing th backup:
1- delete your google account (as well as deleting your emails from mail application)
2- wipe your history and passwords from the internet browser
3- move the sms(s) to either sim or SD card (or internal memory)
4- move contacts to (internal memory or SD card) and delete them from the phone.
5- whatever is on the internal memory won't be backed up so no worries about it.
hope it helps
Ok, I managed to dump a clean i9000xxjf3 stock rom. First I did a backup of my system, then I reset my phone to stock rom settings, then dumped the rom.
I am glad restoring my original system worked perfectly.
Now, how can I provide this rom to the community ? Best upload way ? It's about 290 mb.
If you are still intetested, write back.
Cheers.
P.s. What a great backup/restore program.

Safe way to change ROM

Currently have the Modaco R3 ROM which i installed a while ago but now looking to install the Modaco Froyo ROM.
When i first changed the ROM, it was done via this way, http://nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-root-your-htc-desire/
But i have now been told that i can safely do it via ROM manager. Is this correct?
Here is a link to it, http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...d-phone-with-rom-manager-full-backup-restore/
I presume i just copy the ROM file to the SD and select it via ROM manager? Also is it ok if i untick WIPE DATA AND CACHE as i dont want to loose anything?
thanks
Think i may have found my answer, http://nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/07/how-to-upgrade-your-desire-to-stock-android-2-2-froyo/

If the ROM you want to install uses a higher version of the radio you have installed, you should also flash it in order to fully enjoy your new ROM without problems.
You can check which version of radio you have by turning on the HTC using the power and volume - buttons at the same time.
Thanks, all sorted now. Used ROM manager which was really easy.

Give me a hand will ya?

Currently running on AOKP OTA ver. 3.2
I would like to have someone who can guide me slowly step by step carefuly to whatever better option there is.
I been having lots of troubleshooting with phone not responding how it should and I have to keep rebooting to often.
I appreciate your help.
Thank you
Since you're running a custom rom, you could update your recovery to the latest CWM or TWRP and flash a different or updated rom.
Could you help me to do that?
Just guide me step by step.
Ok I already did a backup.
What custom recovery are you running? The first thing would be to get the latest img for your custom recovery and install it.
How did you root and install a custom recovery on your phone?
I am running AOKP OTA Ver. 3.2
That time I did it following a step by step guide with someone who was guiding me.
Hmm what else would you like to know?
That's the OS. What program did you use to backup your rom?

Oh…sure sure.
One I use is Team Win Recovery Project v2.4.1.0
You should update to the latest TWRP from here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/104
You can flash it using Odin. Make a full backup using the new TWRP. Find a rom you want to try, save it to the phone, and flash it using the ypdated TWRP. Don't forget to wipe the phone before changing ROMs.

Ok So I delete the older TWRP get the new one.
Then back and wipe which of all the options?
And of course if I was using AOKP which I really liked, what will your recommend me?
Installing the latest version of TWRP will overwrite the version on your phone.
Install the newest version of TWRP, create a backup of your rom using the new version of TWRP, find a rom you like, copy the ROM to your phone, boot into TWRP, wipe cache, dalvik, data, flash the ROM, reboot.

You can download it directly to your computer and use Windows Explorer to copy it to a microSD card or directly to your phone. It's probably quicker to download a few to your computer and transfer them all at once so you can try different ones.
Have fun flashing ROMs.

Ok as I extract the rom to my external sd card of my phone it's asking me many permissions such as:
"Do you want to copy Cesium.ogg to your device?
Your device might not be able play or view this file."
I said yes to skip all of the next warnings because every time i hit yes comes another warning.
Also strangely the rom took forever to download and the extraction is also taking way to long.
I didn't had to go through so much stuff by that time I downloaded AOKP rom. :/
Still extracting as I update this post... Something is not right...
I will have to cancel this.
It's stuck.
Do not extract the files. Just flash the zip.

Mind if you help me here?

UPDATE:
I believe is this one?

UPDATE!!
Yup it's done.
Thank you very much for your patience.
Quick question.
How do I restore all my phone data such as my contacts numbers and messages from the back up I did with the other rom?
Do I just restore the last backup and it should recognize the new rom?
UPDATE!
So it went back to where it was of course.
How should I back it all up and restore in the new rom?
Looks right. I have an i747m, not the i747.

First off, use TWRP instead, it's much easier to use and just works better in my opinion annnd you can themes.
I would recommend downloading it on the phone itself. It'll be located in the Download folder and ALWAYS make sure it says .zip otherwise it wont appear in recovery (for example .png files)
use an explorer app like root explorer and make sure it has .zip at the end of the name. :good:

Location is rom related not gapps. So obvious question: did you wipe everything? As for gapps just use any 4.4 gapps (pa preferred).

Not able to install any custom ROM in OnePlus 5T

Hello Guys,
I need help regarding the issue that I'm facing. What happens is ROM get installed properly without any error but not boots up. It get stuck at boot animation screen. I tried lots of ROMs including DOT OS, C droid, AICP, TOXYC OS. Facing the same issue to all of the ROMs. I followed the below steps to install.
1. Download the ROM file
2. Download the GApps.
3. Booted into TWRP Recovery Mode.
4. Backup done (optional)
5. Wipe all the 4 partitions except Internal Storage.
6. Then install the ROM file and followed by GApps
7. Installation successful for both ROM & GApps.
8. Reboot.
I tried installing the ROM only but result was same.
I'm currently running on Oxygen OS Open Beta 10.
PLEASE HELP. THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Which TWRP do you use? Personally, I recommend this one by codeworkx: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ch....1-0-20180309-codeworkx-dumpling.img/download
Some roms require you to be decrypted; others don't. Most roms require the latest firmware (5.1.3) to be flashed before the rom, gapps, etc. Read the installation instructions carefully. Use the recommended firmware and gapps package linked to the rom. Before you start flashing roms, you should wipe your phone in fastboot mode: fastboot format userdata. This will wipe your phone clean; all your data will be gone. So, backup all your data to your PC before proceeding. After format, reboot directly to TWRP and move your firmware, rom, gapps, etc. to internal storage; follow the flash order and procedures exactly as outlined for the rom you want to try.
I tried installing latest TWRP (3.2.1-2) for my OnePlus 5T but no luck. Please suggest.

In twrp, when you go in the wipe tab, there is a "format data" button. It will wipe the data and internal storage partitions and remove encryption. But don't worry, depending of the ROM you flash it will encrypt again.

Did you check the module settings ? You can tweak some stuff.
Or maybe it didn't works because of Lineage (but it should, idk why not), but you can try aosp extended, which is closer to aosp.

I tried AOSP Extended before a week ago. Everything was working fine except headphone Jack. Sound was not coming in my earphones. Sound from speaker grill was coming, even I tried with connecting to Bluetooth speaker, that's also working fine. The only issue I had with that headphone Jack.
Please suggest if you have any solution for that then I'll surely try it again.
Thanks
