Hi, I want to root my G3, however, my phone came stock with Lollipop.
I went through the KDZ firmware IMEI tool to get me to my firmware but even that is Lollipop based. What else can I do? The file was named 'D85520C_00.kdz'. What firmware can I use instead? I get the following information:
Download Firmware
Version: V20C
Country: SEA/HUB(SINGAPORE)
Model: LGD855
Dimension: 1.05 GiB
Full List For Your Phone Here
Can I download another firmware for the D855 not SEA/HUB based? Or does it have to be SEA/HUB and V20C? Will it brick if I get another file with KitKat but for the D855 not necessarily from SEA/HUB?

Download the V10K KitKat KDZ for SEA/HUB from here http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=41 under the Singapore section
Using a firmware from another region wont brick it so long as its for D855 but there will be compatibility issues since SEA/HUB firmwares were specifically designed for users in Singapore
Please Note 6SEA/HUB is for the 16GB Variant and SEA/HUB is for the 32GB variant so please distinguish carefully before installing
Downgrade using LG flashtool 2014 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190

Hi @itsbighead !
Just wanted to say your posts from almost 4 months ago has saved me... :good::good::good::good: Just got a SEA D855 and have been looking EVERYWHERE for a while for the kdz so I can install TWRP (cannot be done on Lollipop).
Was wondering though - if I live in Australia (for example) would it make sense to change regions? Are there any adverse affects?

But ive noticed that after installing the v20e from Taiwan on my Vodafone D855 it would have really bad battery so i dont know whether or not it was a problem with v20e that time or something else
At this time im running Non branded V20H on my Vodafone D855 since Vodafone take forever to release updates
Hello everyone.
I've updated to marshmallow recently but i want to try rooting the phone.
I want to do this without unlocking the bootloader because I don't really know how much trouble LG will give me with warranty issues.
So I've found a couple of guides here and there about using LGUP to flash a KDZ file. For the H815 model there are many different versions with different country codes. Does that matter? I have a Dutch G4 but I see the Polish version being much more recent. What difference does that make? Or is it better to flash the Open version? They do not seem carrier branded.
Is it even possible to downgrade?
Thanks.
Bump
I currently have a g4 version h81220u and I want to downgrade back to Lollipop. Guides on xda tell me that I need a lollipop kdz and i was wondering if a h81210f would do the trick. I know 20x means MM and 10x means LP but I do not know if the "u" and the "f" make a difference. Help is appreciated
*BUMP
From what I understand, (google search did not return ANY results for "h81210u") when downgrading, just start with any stock KDZ H81210x ?? I'm not 100% sure.. That's why I bumped this topic.

So will the bell firmware work for my virgin lg g4?
Btw if it says my devices are lg g4 and lg g6 i put lg g6 to take the place of my lg q6 cause there's no lg q6 option. So now you know

Use the search bar in that thread for any other general ones you might have.
Yes - Virgin is on the Bell network. If you want to step up your gain with the G4 H812 - see steadfasterX's thread:
[UNLOCK][UNOFFICIAL][G4] Unlock **ANY** LG G4 device with UsU
You can now unofficially unlock your LG G4 bootloader, install TWRP, root, AND flash selected H811 custom roms on the H812 following the process he outlines. Recommend you seriously consider it.
If you haven't carrier unlocked your phone: as of Dec. 1 2017, Canadian carriers cannot charge for it. Recommend you do it.

I use this site: http://phonefirmwares.com/lg-g4-h812-android-6-0-phone-stock-firmware-rom-canada-variants/ usually but it appears to be down right now. Hopefully it's not defunct. They do have the Bell versions. Yes, you can use the TELUS rom but may be preferable to stick with Bell for now and get your phone carrier unlocked, if you haven't already.
You want to be on Marshmallow if you are going to do the bootloader unlock process. It will give you so many more options and you can have root on Marshmallow if you want. You do not have to root first in this process, it comes after the unlock and TWRP install.

Site is up now: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h812-firmwares/
Just tried it. They changed their URL.
Scroll down to the latest 6.0 version if you plan to bootloader unlock and select a later version (later version e.g. z instead of a)

You'll have to Google for it then ... OR search the Canadian H812 guide thread and search Bell/Virgin there and see if a member can help you in one those searched posts for a kdz - you do not have to stick to the E version if there's a later more security/bug - free up-to-date one ...
