Nato straps on the Huawei Watch - Huawei Watch

Hello everybody. I'd first like to say that I've long read through the forums like most Internet travellers but only now have decided to sign up and post for the first time.
I just bought a huawei watch and love it. I've hopped between samsung tizen based watches and Android wear for the past year (3 tizen, 3 android wear, this is the 6th watch now!) and I feel like I've finally found a permanent watch... atleast for the next 6mo-1yr maybe hehe.
I now want to commit to buying a bunch of watch bands to customize my look. I have some leather and stainless steel bands coming from ebay already, but i want to get some nato straps too. The bands I've ordered flare out from 18mm to 20-22mm, but ofcourse nato straps dont do this. I've scoured Google search results for in depth discussions regarding wearing nato straps on the Huawei Watch but haven't found any discussing the thickness of the bands and how thick you can go. As most of you know the lugs are only 18mmy wide and I feel like an 18mm wide nato strap will be too thin on my wrist. I've seen the random post here and there by people using a 20mm or 22mm strap that kinda fits but bunches a bit at the lugs, but they never go into detail about if all 20 or 22mm straps will work. Is there anybody that uses nato bands regularly on their huawei watch that can give me their insight? Shipping will take forever so I want to order the right sizes first go around. Thanks!

[Q] Plastic connector coming with the official separate metal bands for moto 360?

Hi!
I am wondering if the plastic "protector" comes with the official separate metal bands for $80?
The plastic "protector" is included with the new metal moto 360 models, but I'm not sure if it's only them or if they are being sold with the separate metal bands $80 at att.com aswell..
Why do I want to know? Well... I visited the watchmaker, he doesn't want to put on a custom metal band because "it will crack without some kind of protection". I believe him because thats probably why motorola added the plastic protector on their official 22" metal moto 360 editions. Also I wanted a more narrow band since I am thin - can only do that if I get a hold of the plastic protector for the 18 inch thinner metal bands that are not released yet
?
anyone who bought it and can answer?
We will once we receive them... Dec 5 was the availability date at the time of ordering, and that was the first hour they were posted on Moto's site.

Wait can the protector be brought separate or its only for the newer models?
Yes the plastic protectors are included with the official metal bands. I just picked up the band replacement kit during lunch today at my local best buy.
Cool... Not sold separately?
Not from what I have seen.. They do make the fit of the new metal band to be very snug against the watch itself.
I bought one of the Kriesler bands. They do NOT come with the plastic piece. Shame. They do look great however. If you have very large hands like mine, I only had to take out one link to let it get over my hand.
I can confirm that the OEM metal bands come with the plastic spacers, same as the metal band Moto 360's
Just had an online chat with Motorola support. I'll give an update about buying the spacer separately, when they get back to me.

Just a heads up - if you're looking to use them with non-Moto bands, I'm not sure it's going to work.
The Moto bands slide into two slots on the plastic connectors for a snug fit. Other bands are solid all the way across - if you were to take off their connector, the links would have to be the same size as the Moto bands.

I know the Pebble Steel metal band fits on the moto 360( it has the right fitting, its not full), but can someone tell me the spacer for the original metal band fits the pebble steel one? Or has someone found a way to get an other spacer?

The Pebble Steel Band does not fit in the plastic spacer provided with the Official Motorola Metal band.
I have a replacement watch arriving today, which will require me to move the official metal band from one watch to the other and I will take a photo to show you all what I am talking about.
Just ordered the official metal band from Motorola site today. Does anyone know if the included plastic spacers will prevent the back of the watch from cracking? I have read of so many people who have cracked the back of there 360 even with the stock leather bands. Can someone who has already gotten the metal bands from Motorola confirm that the spacers relieve the pressure against the back of the watch.

They do.
There has been one photo showing the plastic spacer breaking from the stress, but I've had mine for a week and the spacer is fine. It's been too small a sample size to say the back won't crack but just a few days in I'm feeling much better about it.
The watch is much heavier now, though.

Thanks for the info, so the band is definitely a higher quality then say the pebble steel bands?

Definitely. Both in looks (it's thicker and shinier with a color that is the same as the 360) and material weight. It's heavier than the Pebble Band.
I know a number of people will say that they can get the same thing for less, but if you've purchased watch bands before, you'll find this one to be of a solid quality.
Whether or not it's worth $80 will be up to each individual, but for me it's worth it if it stops the back from cracking because of the spacer..

Here are some photos to show you what I'm talking about. That spacer seems to be tailor made for the Moto band in how it slots in:
Had the leather band, and there were no cracks when i swapped to the Motorola metal band. 1 week later and there's a tiny crack starting in the corner. I'm going to just live with it and see how much it grows.

Smartwatch 3 potential

I think that smartwatch 3 has so much potential, but Sony aren't making use of it and they could easily sell loads. Firstly smartwatch has the most features in a watch such as GPS and WiFi, 2 day battery life and its even one of the cheapest. Now they have a potential of making the watch look amazing, mainly because the core watch can come out. Sony have created a silver metal band but you can't buy the band only. Sony could make different t variants of the band such as black or brushed metal making the watch more appealing something like that Apple watch. After seeing the G watch urbane and its basically the g watch R but in a different case. Sony could do that have different design cases. I have the Sw3 and love it but the look it's starting to get dull now that they are a lot of better looking watches. Sony have something great they can make it really good. What do you guys think?

I think they dropped the ball with the accessories.
If they had the alternate cradle and steel band being sold separately then they could market the utter crap out of it...

2nd/3rd week of May can't come soon enough...
Hopefully that means the strap alone and a worldwide release. Sony Xperia GB has really been the only official source I've seen any news about this since the Xperia blog in February saying that it was launching that week. A couple months ago they did say early May, so we really could be seeing this within 2 weeks now.
Really hope that Sony mean what they say as I've been eager to get the steel strap for ages, but without wanting to sound negative, "2nd or 3rd week in May" doesnt sound exactly concrete. I saw another tweet from them which said 5th May and that has gone by with still no word. Come on Sony, prove me wrong

Sounds good and hope they include more changeable bands and shapes
Sony UK webstore are now selling the SW3 with the holder and brown leather strap (for £229, same as steel one), but still no sign of selling them separately. They seem to have totally forgotten about existing owners of the watch who might want to buy different straps.
Its going to be later this month

They could but then they have to charge a pricepoint which some might complain about. Otherwise it wont make sense to get the steel band bundle. Funny thing though, i got the steel band and now i want to get a silicone for running

Rubber band is approx $30 on its own...
If they sold the metal or the leather for approx $40-$50 each I'd probably buy them.
Thats not undercutting the original at all.

If you can get the silicone bundle plus the metal strap cheaper than the metal bundle plus the silicone strap, nobody will get the metal bundle. Though if they make it cheap for people to buy straps, I myself would make sure I have everything. Silicone for exercise, metal for general use. Leather for formal.
I'm guessing the Steel band will officially be between £35 and £50. Hopefully other sellers might have it a bit cheaper. Not sure if I would pay more than £30.
Handtec are now selling the SW3 with brown leather strap, first place I have seen it on sale outside of Sony store. Still dont understand why they are taking so long to roll out the straps.
Well, we are getting closer to the end of the month and still no sign of the steel strap or holder being sold separately.
I'm too waiting for the holder to be sold! Damn! I want the leather band so much because the white silicone, is only good for sports and not for anything else.
Sony Time
Sony follow-up releases are measured in geological increments, unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.
Also, the metal strap is actually a decent looking/feeling piece of kit and it's custom-built for the watch. I'd be surprised if it's less than £60. I'm thinking £79.99 RRP.

Watchband

Hi,
My zenwatch is finally on it's way, and i'm thinking of getting another strap.
Do you think the following watchband will fit the zenwatch?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/19139693033...rkparms=gh1g=I191396930334.N8.S1.M1459.R1.TR2
Thanks!
Pretty much any 22mm band will work. I have couple of bands, and usually alternate between a metal mesh and a leather nato strap. The only problem with the Nato is that I have to take the strap out every night to charge.
Do you have links for where to buy the straps you got? I want to take a look.
And why you have to take the strap off? On what it's depand?
Thank you
I bought them off of Ebay. This is real similar to the Nato strap I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honey-Brown...t=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item4ae9dd2397 And this looks just like the metal mesh band: http://www.ebay.com/itm/22MM-SILVER...980?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4196989fa4
Nato style straps cover the back of the watch so on the Zenwatch, the charging pins are covered. If you go with a nato strap, get a pair of watch pins. I recommend quick release like http://www.fandebnb.com/quick-release-spring-bars-pair/
so that they are easy to remove, just like the original band the Zenwatch comes with.
Will these band watch fit a zenwatch 1?

Black Stainless Steel Mesh?

I bought my black watch today but I would love to get my hands on a black Stainless Steel Mesh. Do u know why this band is not selling in the US? Huawei site doesn't have it listed under the "coming soon" bands.
They canned the Black Stainless Mesh around the same time they redesigned the Black to have the tick marks around the bezel, and the Gold to have a pie-crust bezel.
Not to worry though. You can get some third party ones on Amazon. Just search Amazon.com for Huawei Watch Band Mesh. There are about 3 Chinese brands that sell it for $20ish, but I don't know how good they are relative to the official stainless mesh.
I didn't think I would like the band it comes with but I am loving it. Have pictures here on a different post.

Best Milanese Huawei Watch Band Hands Down!

I originally purchased the Huawei Watch with black leather as I prefer leather bands to metal. All I ever really knew for metal watch bands was the normal steel links, which to me are heavy and rip the hairs out of my wrist. Not exactly something I would like to wear all day long. I have been curious about the Milanese style bands since I seen them advertised by Apple for the Apple Watch. Anyways, I started browsing Amazon to see what was on offer for the Huawei Watch. There are two styles as far as I can see. Milanese bands with a "clamp" style latch and a Milanese band that loops through with a magnetic "latch". I definitely was more attracted to the magnetic style band so I figured I would order it up and give it a go. The only thing I was worried about was the magnet being too weak and coming loose throughout the day, which is not the case at all. It also comes with the quick release style pins, so no tools are needed.
Needless to say, I love it! It makes the Huawei Watch look very sharp and unique in my opinion. It is very comfortable and provides a perfect fit due to the way it "latches". I am pretty sure it would provide a perfect fit for any wrist. It fits the watch so well that it appears as if it were made by the watch manufacture itself. Ever since I have swapped the leather band for the Milanese, I have had quite a few different people ask me about it and wondering "what kind of watch is that?". Also, if you compare it to the other Milanese Bands on Amazon, this one "fits" better. The band itself is slightly wider than the part that attaches to the watch / the part the pin goes through. This is how the original Huawei Watch bands are as well.
They are available in stainless steel, black, and rose gold. The stainless steel matches the standard Huawei Watch perfectly! The part that attaches to the lugs is a "brushed" finish like the sides of the Huawei Watch and not a glossy finish like the face. I actually prefer this, as it will not scratch nearly as easy. I am sure the black would match the black just fine as well. They were $17.99 when I purchased, but they are now $23.99. Still, worth every penny! I guess you could always go pay $129.99 + tax for the Huawei official Milanese band, which has an inferior clasping mechanism in my opinion.

Very cool. I've been interested in this style since I first saw the Apple version. I've looked online but all the ones I've found were using clips to latch. The magnetic band is very cool. I ordered one to give it a shot.
I would love to see some actual pictures of it on your wrist.
Can you post some pictures of the band on your watch?
Thanks for sharing! I have been searching some 2 months ago and could not find a magnetic loop band back then. I immediately ordered this band for HuaweI Watch and also for Apple iWatch and Gear S2 Classic... (Yesoo sells for all those watches!!)
I have a similar band by Hoco...black melanese mesh with magnetic clasp....couldn't recommend it enough! https://plus.google.com/111656357014042389917/posts/ePHuhxVeRpg - photo
I just received this very same band last week and love it! After purchasing a very similar 3rd party band for my wife's Apple watch, I thought this would be a great option for the Huawei watch and am very pleased. The magnetic clasp allows you to adjust for a near perfect fit on your wrist. This also has quick change pins, so it's very easy to swap back and forth between this and the original Huawei leather band when you want a different look. The only negative I've found so far is that the hair on my wrist gets snagged in the magnetic clasp if it's not aligned to the band perfectly.
Also bought it
I also bought one. The only thing I don't like are that some of the links stick up a little on mine near where the mesh is joined to the solid metal parts (You only notice if you look closely and from the right angle, though), and also the metal is slightly darker than the watch case.
Overall though, I'm pleased, especially considering I paid under $20 for it.
I can confirm. This is definitely the best band for this watch. I was thinking the magnetic band would come off, or the links would be messed up, but everything is perfect. As soon as I put it on I got a lot of complements about my watch. Too bad nobody know what a Huawei Watch is around where I live. They always give me a blank stare like I just spoke some foreign language.
I have both the clasp variant mesh band and this magnetic variant mesh band. The magnet is nice and easy to use, and it's very strong too, but the quality of the mesh is much higher on the clasp mesh band. Slightly thicker and feels sturdier, plus it's pretty much a 90% exact stock mesh band replica.
Sorry, I didn't even think to post pics. I will post some later today.

I have the hoco milances magnetic clasp band in stainless steel and I also really like it. My only complaint is that the magnetic clasp slips when I am doing any kind of physical work. I am a social worker my day but in the weekend I like dyi projects around the house. The watch slipping lose sometime is annoying. But over all the w a huawei watch looks great with this band.

I ordered this and have been using it for a few days.
The Magnetic band does come loose over time. I've had to tighten it a few times throughout the day.
I think I want to exchange mine because the magnetic clasp piece doesn't seem to be connected to the band very well. It isn't aligned properly and looks like 1 side is coming out. It isn't loose, but there is a brown (rust?) line that I can see. It is barely noticeable but I think it makes it look cheap.

Which watch face is that please?
I bought this one as well and really hated it. My review is on Amazon if anyone cares to read it (Cory S). I suppose I might had rated it better if I wasn't comparing it directly against the OEM mesh band...but probably not being they lied about the material it is made out of.

Nah looks the same shade. Just the shadows playing tricks on you.
I've been wearing this band for about a week. I have to adjust it a few times a day but it feels good. I haven't had any compliments on it either. The magnets get a little crazy taking it off. The band kinda all sticks to itself. I am getting faster at getting off and on one handed.
The thinness of the band really makes the Huawei looks super thick, hence why I liked my thick metal band. I also think it looks more feminine (IMO).
Thanks for this. Got the black one and loving it.

I've purchsed the clasp variant you mention here. The mesh is fine, as you write. Otherwise I consider the band pretty much useless, as taking on the watch is a project for a minute or more. Ok, I might not be the handiest guy, but the problems are:
- very tight clasp, the band barely goes through
- very awkward clasp system itself, very hard to use when watch is on the wrist (typical use case, isn't it?).
I can hardly use the claps even off-wrist. From what I can tell from the photos, original Huawei OEM band uses the same system, so it's possibly cheapishly implemented here.
I got the item "packed" in a soft plastic envelope, due to what (probably) it has a very ugly dent on the part which connects to the watch. One of the quick release handles on the hinge fell apart until I got home from work.
tl;dr;
Don't buy this totally noname chinese crap.
