Lgk10 root helpppp - LG K10 Questions & Answers

I'm running an lg k10 from AT&T so far i have every tool from every thread about rooting this device. fast-boot does not recognize the the device but ADB does. when i use the command "adb reboot bootloader" the phone proceeds to do a normal boot. ive installed the latest drivers ive updated adb and sdk tools i have everything but the phone will not boot into fastboot mode so i can flash twrp

I'm in the same boat. Even worse, it seems nobody on this planet has an AT&T LG K425. Or if they do, none want it rooted.... So figuring out the process has been slow going for the AT&T variant.
Anybody else having this issue??
If not, do tell your solutions.

I bought this phone for my wife, since it had been rooted and there was at least a rom for it, little did I realise that the ATT flavor of this phone wasnt released untill 6 months after the rest of them, So we don't have the older flashes to root it. would really love for someone to chime in with some help here. What happened to dirty cow taking care of all this for us?
thanks

You can easily unlock your bootloader. Follow my bootloader unlock guide. There is a mistake in your adb reboot booloader command.

I think the problem is that the phone shipped with 6.0.1 and I'm unable to find any firmware for it other then that firmware.. I would be thrilled to be wrong though.

You probably need to unlock the bootloader, both in dev settings and again with fastboot. fastboot will wipe data

Regarding root access, this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/root-lg-k10-420ds-t3479902
Explains how tho get root on a similar phone like LG k10 using kingroot. Other members have told me I don't have too unlock my boot loader before attempting too gain root.
Do you know if there is any truth in that?

No you don't need to unlock your bootloader to root your phone. Some devices need it.
I bricked my phone while replacing KingRoot with SuperSu. I don't trust Kingroot, removing KingRoot method for LG K10 for now.

nope... just sitting with an unlocked bootloader and waiting for someone to root it.. im a noob and i've experimented with many root tools but none of em worked cos of the forced encryption of data partition. i couldn't wipe it with twrp.. there's a guide for LG G5 on how to disable forced encryption, but it doesn't work for our phone.. "http://www.droidorigin.com/root-lg-g5/". i hope someone can adapt it for our phone and finally somehow root it..

Enable developer options and enable usb debugging. Then make sure the oem unlock option is enabled.
connect pc to phone.
//*Backup your data first. It resets your phone*//
# adb reboot bootloader
# fastboot oem unlock
//*Follow instructions on your mobile phone*//
Done. Now its unlocked and your phone will say, "your phone is corrupted and may have been tampered" everytime you reboot

Help with LG G4 Model Number

Hi,
I am confused regarding my LG G4 model number.
Because Under About Phone -> Hardware Info it shows LG-H815.
But when I connect it to pc & using adb devices, adb lists it as LGLS991e484402e.
Also LS991 0423 is printed on back of the phone near camera & speaker.
But under the battery the sticker with IMEI displays LG-H815 !
What is the model number ?
I need to find it in order to update it.
Are you checking for compatibility with a rom? If so, H815 is the number you're looking for.

Don't worry about the LS991 number. H815 is the version of your phone, the G4 international.

How are you planning on updating? Flashing a rom from xda-developers? If you're not sure, I'd recommend something like imperium rom, which is based on stock and has much the same behavior but is rooted with more options. Just make sure to download the one for H815. Of course, you'll need to have an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery before you can do this. Do you have custom recovery already?

Is there any way to install custom recovery without Download mode (& of course without root !) ? Because there is one more problem ! I cant get into download mode. If I use Vol up+ & insert usb cable then I get "Secure boot error 1014" & if i use adb reboot-bootloader or reboot bootloader phone restarts normally. Also fastboot mode is not working. Fastboot devices either do nothing or waiting for device ! USB debugging & OEM unlock is on.

Yes I have searched for that & some related errors. But almost all of them says that it is because of locked bootloader & to unlock the bootloader I need to enter fastboot mode (Not working as of now) also I have tried many drivers mentioned in the posts (LG universal, LG WHQL etc), LG Bridge, LG PC suit, LG flash tool, LG mobile support tool etc & Also tried the same things on Windows 7.
I don't really know much about fastboot problems, you'll have to look elsewhere for help. Sounds like that's your next step, though. Look for people who can help you get fastboot/download mode working.

Hi,
I'm the same...
looking for solution I found this on Youtube:
Pratically, you have to press vol up while connect USB on PC....
I haven't the G4 with my today and so I cannot test if this is a valid mode...
If you do this, let me know if you can enter in fastboot mode

I did that and yeah it entered this mode but it's not valid bootloader/fastboot mode. It's some service mode to update firmware. Anyway it's not visible in pc as a normal fastboot and I cannot proceed further with unlocking bootloader...
Edit: it's download mode... So as I said it's not fastboot mode.
Anyone can help?
Seriously nobody? I thought this phone has good community and support...
I'm facing the exact same problem with my H810 on 6.0. Sick of not being able to root atleast.
Seriously hasn't anyone on earth found a way to boot this **** in fastboot? I mean there are a number of tutorials but everything goes different as F*** with this thing. Hope someone will update with good news. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Thanks yeah I checked but that's for ARB<=2 devices. I forgot to mention earlier this godforsaken thing is ARB3.
I have an H811 (T-Mo) running firmware H81120p, ARB3. Doesn't seem to be much that can be done with it as far as rooting. It also has no stock recovery, only boots to system.
you did follow this official guide right? it unlocked mine after a few angry moments
http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
use minimal ADB https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Only way to boot twrp later is to use fastboot with ADB, recovery with buttons doesn't work.
if the device wont boot a rom use adb to get back in recovery.
if you use bank apps, install magisk before installing rom, do not get SU

Only problem is that the info linked to above applies to ONE G4 variant only - the H815 international model. The rest of us are SOL. The bootloader on US carrier G4 - AT&T, T-Mo, VzW, etc (most later firmware revisions for G3 as well) models has been nailed down. The only exception is a G4 with ARB <= 2 can be hacked with UsU in order to root it and install a custom recovery.

Tmo is very easy
Go to dev options and enable adb
Then run "adb reboot bootloader"
Once there, run "fastboot oem unlock" and voila, you have an officially unlocked bootloader with no restrictions related to UsU
Please be aware the above will factory reset your device

Why v20o
Remember, this has nothing to do with UsU and therefore ARB etc doesn't matter
Edit: ps there are loads of H811 users in my Lineage thread and the other ROMs too

Got it. Guess that it makes sense. ARB prevents rolling back to earlier release than 20o, I'm ok. Will try the BL unlock today then.

I actually managed to get my LG V20 F800L into same situation after messing up my rooting process.
First i was stuck at logo and factory reset did nothing. Bootloader was working then.
Then i downloaded new firmware through "Download Mode", and after that i lost access to bootloader.
I know the phone model is different, but process seems to be very similar for all LG devices.
Trying to troubleshoot that atm, if i'll have results i'll post them here.
P.S. I know original poster long left (probably after throwing phone into a grinder), but maybe for someone with same problem as us in the future the info will be useful.

Ok, now i have to reply to my own post, since i believe i understand now something important:
LG phones usually dont have bootloader open to access. Until you use some exploits to do so.
I did not know that at the time of writing that reply.

LG V30+ download missing, root gone, and bootloader locked

I would like to thank everyone for there support for this most awesome but difficult phone. I have an unlocked US LG V30+ phone which an error in cross flashing accidently caused my phone to loose everything I needed to use LGUP. Does anyone know of an exe rom to flash on this phone to regain download option or a full restore to start fresh to do the rooting the right way? I know some mobile devices have exe for full restore but haven't found one for this phone yet.
Thanks again and I hope for a possible positive answer.
