Enable Stereo Audio Recording - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
This is a minor but annoying problem, and I know I'm not the only one.
Is there a way to enable stereo recording for purely voice recording? I've tried many apps(the included Voice Recorder app, easy voice recorder, even Recordr) and everything came up mono even after enabling the stereo option.
I assume its a system level lock, because stereo audio is enabled when the phone records video.

I need this too, I hope it can be enabled.

The HTC one has good recording quality, and is one of the very few that doesn't distort when there are high sound pressure levels.
(so concerts, etc). So potentially the best choice for musicians and people who like to record live music.
Because of the focus of HTC on getting audio recording right, it is unexplainable that stereo recording is only available in video !
If HTC fixes this, they really have an extra USP.
User [D4v3|R4v3] posted that maybe he can help to get it enabled, see:

Mine is not rooted (yet) so I cannot help with this one.
But hopefully HTC will also fix it, so it will also be available to users that don't have their device rooted. should be very easy i guess.
I really don't understand the reason to block stereo recording to other apps.
At least HTC should make stereo recording available in their own voice recorder app.

[Q] video recording no audio

Last night I was video taping my son. But when I played the video back (on phone or PC ), there's no audio. It doesn't seem to be one of those "codec not installed" issues because even the phone itself can't play any sound and I was able to record/play audio before. In fact after I reboot the phone I was able to record the audio. So here are my questions:
1. Is there a setting in gnex that allows recording video without audio? Is it possible I toggled that setting but wasn't aware of it?
2. Is there a way to show the audio input volume while recording? At least I know there's no audio input so that I can do something about it.
I was pretty frustrated to find out the whole clip was muted. Now every time I record something I am worried the audio may be lost.
Thank you.
Were u using some other media at the same time? Like listening to music? Something running on your phone must have conflicted with it

HTC One X videos DO NOT record in proper stereo

I've noticed other threads commenting on the quality of the sound on video captured on the One X, but I'm a musician, and wanted to check that the One X videos are in proper stereo - and they are most definitely not!
To test, I recorded a video in 720p (with stero sound on, also checked with 1080p, same issue), then blew into each mic in turn, slapped on a pair of headphones and listened - blowing sound should be in one speaker then the other on playback, but both sounds are in both headphones, so the recordings are in mono (even though computer says they are in stereo).
Admittedly, not a very sophisticated test, but it did the job.
I've transferred the video to the computer and get exactly the same results. I also checked this on stock sense, then rooted the phone, installed ARHD, checked again and had exactly the same issue.
Can anyone else confirm this, then someone more intelligent than me come up with a solution? I bet it's just a software issue, but I don't have too much faith in HTC to fix it after the battery drain issue.
ROM - ARHD 3.1, Firmware - 1.28
I can confirm this. HTC One X doesn't record true stereo. Checked with a stereo recording app first - it just records one mic even after switching on stereo mode. The video recording seem to record both mics but it just combines everything up rather than keeping the channels separate.
I have original Sense ROM 4.1.1, not modified in any way

Is There a Better Microphone 4 Live Recording?

Hey everyone. Is there a better microphone? I'm tired of recording video on this phone and having the audio playback completely distorted. I am trying to use my Hercules as a secondary video cam when I am shooting live music. It seems no matter loud or quiet the band is or where I am relative to monitors or pa speakers, the audio when played back is completely worthless and not usable no matter how I manipulate the audio track with filters, compression, removing background noise, etc... . If anyone has an idea other than buying a second GoPro videocam, I would gladly listen.

Recording Audio

Hey Guys,
I have a question, me being lame tried to record a live set from a dj without the video (I did not want to separate the two) but the built in audio recorder records only in mono....
Is there any recording software which :
- Stereo
- uses the full capability of the Microphone(s)
Thanks in advance!
I bought this phone to record stereo audio, but am having the same problems.
Does it record stereo video?
Then why not stereo audio!?
It really bothers me that no one has ever found a way how to bypass the camcorder lock on the stereo microphones.
I tried ALL RECORDING APPS on the market. And with every possible setting!
Everything is always mono. Using just the bottom Mic.
I Even tried nTrack and Fruity Loops, Field Recorder, etc.
Only way to record HDR Stereo Sound is by using the original HTC Camcorder app in 720p (to save storage space) and then to copy the audio out using
a converter. (I always set saturation to black and white, Exposure down to -2 and fixate the focus on a bright light to keep the overall video black to just save more space)
I then use Media Coder on Windows, or the MP3 Video Converter app that comes with TubeMate. No need to convert the audio, it just takes the audio track out of video without doing any alterations.
But still a big Problem. The Camera app always turns up the Background Light to 100% by default (and you can't even manually turn it down) so it eats up your battery.
(Any other camera app on the market doesn't do stereo either)
And the MP4 Video Files are huge compared to the AAC audio files, so no possible way to record stuff that's longer than 4 hours (unless you have several SD Cards and a Power Outlet at hand.
PLEASE!! If Any Of You Pros Are Reading This! Help Us!!!
I think it shouldn't be too hard to tear down the pre installed HTC Camera app programming, to find the key for unlocking the ways of Stereo Recording of Audio Only.
If I only had any programming knowledge I would try it myself.
But I can't even write a Pong game...
Sorry for my poor English. International Duderino...

Audio problem

Does anybody have any issues with the audio recording of camera? It's like trying to muffle background noises but end up recording everything in like a metallic sound... sound is really horrible. It's not the speakers because audio from videos and music is fine. It's just when the phone is recording audio. Audio while calling is also okay.
I'm on latest update of havoc (Q). The issue wasn't there when I was on android 7 (custom roms) problem came up after I updated to higher/later roms and it's not rom specific since I have been jumping from 1 rom to another.
Maybe it's a hardware problem already?
Thanks.
Additional info: it is not a hardware problem, i have tested to record a video with open camera app and when I change the audio source setting to "unprocessed" i get better audio quality but the volume is quite low... So maybe there is a bug with switching to different receivers, but instead it keeps using the noise cancelling microphone. Or its processing the audio to cancel the brackground noise and improving voice instead...
Pls help if anybody has a fix for android 10...
