You need modified TWRP 3.0.2-28 to get TWRP working with Beta 8. I had the same issue witrh my installation.

Also you need to make sure to remove your lock screen, then you will be able to use TWRP

I got the same issue, cannot decrypt the internal storage.
I am using TWRP3.0.2.1-28
What is your action, just run "Force Decryption Device" by using Toolkit v.3.6
and what recovery are you using ?
Thx

First I flash the stock recovery by toolkit and then make force decryption device and then I flash twrp 3.0.2.1-28 and It works, but you should to know that everything on your phone will be erased

I'm using latest modified TWRP 3.0.2-28 + OOS Beta 8. I have a protected lockscreen (fingerprint / pin) and pin is needed to start the device.
I flashed TWRP, wiped everything and changed "DATA" filesystem to "F2FS" and flashed the rom (clean installation)
I have full acces when using TWRP.
No need to force decryption or anything...

It doesn't work though, if you installed dirty and just upgraded from MM. TWRP keeps asking for password and doesn't accept it, even if I change to password (else using PIN) in the system.

I came from OOS 3.2.8 running already with F2FS and did a dirty flash to the Nougat Beta.
All with the -1.28 TWRP and have no issues going into TWRP and it accepts my pin.

This is the way I went, just yet being on ext4. Could it be a difference, if you flash or if you just boot TWRP? I'm only booting instead of flashing, so I retain my recovery, as I didn't see the new Oxygen recovery for OOS4 in the wild yet.

You probably need an older version for ext4. The last one working on ext4 when I did the switch to f2fs was -1.25 if I remember correctly.
After the switch to f2fs I had to flash 1.28 or the recovery wouldn't accept my pin anymore.

Hm... Interesting, do you have a link? And perhaps a link to a thread with all the available versions? I searched, but found only several tutorial threads with just one or another version linked, no thread for specific modified version.

Yes, 2.78 SR5

I have done format userdata in fastboot but my phone still shows up as encrypted. Flashed 3.0.2-1.28 and I still get a password screen when booting to recovery. Not really sure what else I can do.

TWRP and file based encryption, can't decrypt data

I can't seem to find a way to decrypt my data partition, thus making it impossible for me to do anything with twrp.
I'm using the latest twrp for the 5x, but it seems that there's a problem with FBE (file based encryption), after enabling it there is no prompt to enter a password/pattern anymore, and when booting into twrp it doesn't decrypt the data partition.

Not that I know of. You could always switch back to full disk encryption.
Impossible
Decrypting data with File Level encryption on Nougat is as of yet impossible it'll show you random combination of numbers and characters so turn off file level encryption to do so go in bootloader and wipe userdata partition then flash twrp File level encryption will also prevent any alter in Recovery partition or system partition if you flash supersu it won't get flashed

Can you give a try to nodded twrp and one more thing mount system before flashing any ROM.
Note: after decrypting if you want too boot into OOS you need to Flash SuperSU or otherwise the OOS will force encryption and that may create problem.

okay now after few trial and error method i have come to the conclusion that this happens only after unencrypting the device. after eunencrypting it wont boot any other roms except those which have been already backed up.
So,
can i flash roms on encrypted device? I mean i test a lot of roms and i change frequently.
I guess no, right?
Yes try with encryption as the ROMs doesn't require decrypting the device. Decrypted device is only required if you want to use multirom.
Good Luck.

If you can access the OS, change pin/password within the OS to something else, then back to the one you always use then go back to recovery and it should work.

Well, if you are sure that you are on the right twrp version by Bluspark. Then I would start with a factory reset. Your phone is encrypted, somehow TWRP asks for a password that never has been setup.
Let's get into business.
On Android go to security settings and select swipe or none in security lock.
Reboot to fastboot, flash the latest TWRP V39, since you are already using bluspark TWRP I won't need to recommend it.
Reboot imediatly to TWRP, Data should get mounted now.
The TWRP version you are on at the moment is outdated, always use the latest build.

Reflash TWRP, reboot to recovery, when prompted to give permission to modify system partition you should slide to Yes.
That will keep TWRP in place.

[HELP!] Encrypted folders in TWRP

Hey guys,
I have recently flashed global stable ROM over global beta (oreo) while having lockscreen setup, and also "Preverve force encryption" checked in Magisk while in global beta. This was an accident...
And now, no matter how I format the phone, or flash offiical ROMs from MiTools/fastboot, once after the initial setup of MIUI, the folders shown up in TWRP is random characters.
If i format data partition, then I can access data from TWRP, but once initialized android, then it goes back to random characters.
I have also tried this thread in MIUI forum:
http://en.miui.com/thread-310923-1-1.html
this script is meant to disable encryption but it seems to be very out dated, tried it doesn't work.
Has anyone ran into problems like this before?
Thanks in advance!
Just use the same code as you entered on you lock screen.
For example if your lock pin is '1234' put '1234' in the TWRP when you boot into it.

i don't prompt the lockscreen code:crying:
its just simply encrypted, and after i flash magisk in other roms, the preserve forced encryption option is unchecked...which should not be the case...

Wow it works. Thanks!
Now i'm confused,,, i used to be able to see the files in TWRP, but i definitely have not used this version. I wonder if what i used before also supports encryption, or it was that the encryption was not enabled before....
But anyways, this one your link is working. Thanks again!

Orange Fox asking for encryption password

Running Pixel Experience ROM. I always used TWRP but due to changes in the ROM in an update 2 months ago I had to install Orange Fox. All worked well. Trying to install latest update, but when I now reboot in recovery it asks for encryption password. I've tried my screen pin but that's not accepted.
I don't want to format my data partition.
How can I fix this please?

Just checking, it wouldn't delete backups created by Titanium Backup right? As they are on /sdcard?
Still don't understand why this happened. Do you know? Or anyone else?

Nope,it's your partition which is already encrypted, no recovery problem so no matter what recovery you use it's still the same unless you decrypt your data by formatting.
