Make sure you check the Device manager for a qualcomm device, not the windows file explorer.

So i've been trying to root my phone for quite some time and everytime it fails.
I recently found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1533#tutorial
Everything was working fine until i got to the part ( fastboot oem get_identifier_token.) When i type that in it would just say
(Waiting for device) and never does anything for a long time.
also when i click my power button and volume down at the same time it does not go in fast boot mode for some reason and i have no idea why!
so does anyone have any solutions?
Just hold down the power and vol down and wait until the bootloader shows up, then use vol to scroll until you can select fastboot, then plug into a usb port.
Also, try a different usb port on your computer. Not sure why this sometimes works, but sometimes it does. Sometimes.

If at first you don't succeed... Hold the power and vol+ until the Phone vibrates then it should power down, then try again.

Hold the power and vol+ for 3 or 4 seconds, if it doesn't vibrate a few times and power down then you'll need a service centre.
Take the battery out for 1 minute
I have tried to hold the vol for more than 5 seconds but the phone does not vibrate to power off..it can be on only until the light showed up..I'll try taking the battery...
The phone still behave the same..what should i do? i have taken out the battery for 1 minute..
Just put PC Companion/Sony Update Service in repair mode and when asked, connect the phone by holding Volume Down and plugging USB cable...

Without any phone connected, open PC Companion, go to Support Zone and Start Tablet/Phone Update. A small popup will show saying that no phone were detected, and in that popup you'll have an option to repair the phone. Click in "repair my phone/tablet" and follow the instructions...

Hold up + Power button for >5 sec...
By the way, how can I load a Zip file in my phone with no OS and only bootloader + TWRP?
USB-OTG? Can I have access by plugin it directly in PC?

So my screen blacked out and I would like to attempt and retrieve the information off of my phone. I have an idea to use the CWM I have installed on my phone and from there mount it. But since I cannot see the screen, I was hoping somebody could tell me the number of presses of each button so I can mount it. Thanks!

not sure if cwm will help, but twrp 3 will definitely help, i want you to boot into download mode and flash twrp 3 using Odin, and then boot into recovery.
TWRP 3 has MTP enabled by default, so when you're in TWRP and connected your phone to PC, you will see your phone on PC and will be able to copy anything you want.
also you can use adb pull commands but it requires usb debugging on in your rom.

yes, you will do it blindly, but it's not hard.
you press power + home + volume down for 3 seconds, then press volume up, and connect your phone to PC, then flash the TWRP 3 using Odin, after the flash is done, remove battery, and insert again, then hold the power + home + volume up for 4 seconds, the release the power and keep holding the other 3 buttons for another 3 seconds then release, by now it should be in recovery mode, now connect to PC and you should see your phone and all its content.

good question.
he can't do it in two cases:
1- if he is using android 6.0+
2- if he is using a password, PIN or a pattern in his lock screen.
i believe he should have tried your suggestion already, it would be a shame if he didn't because it's an Obvious thing.
however, i should have mentioned that as well...
Hi All
I have a sony Xa1 G 3116 and I flashed stock OS through Flashtool.
Error apperared while flashing. I forgot to note the error.
After that my phone doesn't switch ON or doesn't get into download mode too.
Indicates a red LED when connected to a charger or Laptop.
Someone guide me please.
Note : I have tried Xperia Companion too. It doesn't detect my phone since it can't get into download mode. I have all sony USB drivers installed to my lap too.

Try to reconnect phone connecting to your lap with an USB, and than booting it long pressing up and down volume buttons at the same time and boot button, until your phone is detected by Xperia Companion or ADB.
Should work!:highfive:

While connecting it with PC , it gets disconnected automatically and again connnects and holds barely for about 3 secs.
What to do now ?

Did you release keys when it gets connected with PC?
If yes, do the same thing holding or only volume down button + power or volume up + power, with same modality.
Tell me if it works :highfive:

So let's start with CMD:
- Try to connect phone and run CMD as administrator and type: adb reboot recovery
[If it doesn't work]
- adb shell svc power reboot recovery
This should work! (I'm searching for other ones)
:highfive:
BONUS: if It doesn't work, search for "USB jig" on eBay or Amazon, it will put your device into "download mode" :good:
I have the same problem
I will try and reply
