Sideload Update not working - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I just bought a used (unlocked) OPO3. I managed to re-lock the bootloader and install stock 3.2.6.
The OTA updates from within 3.2.6 fail with "Installation failed" every time. I also tried the stock recovery sideload option, but it consistently fails around 50% transfer with "Installation failed" in recovery and no error on the PC. Tried on 2 different machines, Windows & MacOS.
My stock recovery also does not have an "update from file system option" - is that correct?
Any help appreciated.

Self-solved: USB Sideload needs the FULL zip, not the OTA.

OTA update

I've received 4.4.2 update today(with verification failed message beneath), after download I was asked to restart and install, and it redirected to TWRP(2.6.3.1 for flo), so I rebooted the system only to see the 4.4 version again in 'About System', the next time I received OTA updated with in a span of five minutes, the same problem repeated again. So I downloaded OTA zip file and tried to install though TWRP, but there was an error "Error executing updater binary in zip".
So I tried adb sideload but got an error "Device not found", So it just appears like all doors are closed for me..Please provide a solution to this
My device is unlocked as well as rooted

If anyone has this problem in the future, you could use sideload or you could just adb push ie.
adb push update.zip /sdcard/update.zip

I did it this way all the time. But now it doesn't seem to work anymore.
I flashed the latest update I downloaded from https://ouyafw.skumler.net/
and getting this error when applying the update.zip from SDK or sideloading it (both doesn't work)
Code:
assert failed: !less_than_int(1391471878, getprop("ro.build.date.utc"))
I tried removing this line from the updater-script. Doesn't work. The progress stops with "Installation aborted." without an error code.
seems with further firmwares, there is no way to restore anymore.
PS: I don't have CWM. only Stock recovery and a system that stucks in bootloop even after factory reset.

The firmware on the site you mentioned is not up to date!
Here is the official link for the latest firmware.
If you have adb access, you could try to fastboot CWM recovery.

[Q] HELP! GPE lollipop OTA Update Error, no apps loading after that

Hello All,
I have GPE version of GPad running Kitkat 4.4 Stock ROM. Last month I have used following link to enable chromecast mirroring. Due to the issues i have uninstalled superuser app and did factory reset. After that all well! I mean no issues with tablet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193
Yesterday I tried to sideload the GPE lollipop update but prompted with following error.
"/system/etc/audio_policy.conf" has unexpected contents.
E:Error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
This morning I saw system update notification for Lollipop upgrade and opted to install it, but without any further msg during the system update it prompted with "Error!" After that I did factory reset. When it reboots starts optimizing 48 apps, but it prompts with following sequence of messages:
"Unfortunately sun beam has stopped. "
None of the apps loaded , no access to setting, just empty screen and on screen buttons at the bottom.
I spent quite some time looking around in xda to restore back to factory, none seems to work.
1. Tried flashing original stock .tot file, getting "Download user image is only available in the online environment!!
2. adb sideload, "/system/etc/audio_policy.conf" has unexpected contents
3. To Flash TWRP i am not getting access to setting to enable USB debugging.
Now i cant even put the G Pad in adb as i dont have access to settings to put in USB debug mode. vol down+power puts into bootloader, but cant access to adb commands.
Now I can only access to recovery and do sideload. but i am stuck with "/system/etc/audio_policy.conf" has unexpected contents error. Can someone share kitkat original version of audio_policy.conf? also how i can replace the exiting file as i dont have access to adb?
Greatly appreciate your help to bring back the G Pad.
regards
Raj
You can boot twrp from fastboot and flash either 4.4.4 or 5.0 back onto your tablet. Look at the thread in Android development for more details on flashing the stock images using twrp
Thanks! I was able to get back to kitkat with following method. I was able to flash recovery its now back to complete stock kitkat now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-...510-gpe-4-4-4-ktu84p-l002-stock-twrp-t2797883
After this I got system update notification to lollipop. Again got "Error!" msg during the install process.
I tried adb side load, got following error!
failed to verify whole-file signature
signature verification failed
installation aborted.
Any thought whats going wrong there?

OTA to OOS 4.0 and adb sideload won't work

Hello Guys!
I was kinda hyped when I saw on Dec 31st that there's a new Softwareupdate available. Although I have a rooted device with a custom recovery (latest TWRP), previous OTAs always worked well. So I downloaded the OTA, and tapped "install" when it was finished. But this time it rebooted into recovery mode, and TWRP just did nothing. So, assuming it was because of the rooted device, I completely unrooted it and flashed the stock recovery and tried it again. This time there was actually smth. but an error saying "Update failed" appeared. Kinda pissed I downloaded the OTA update to my PC and tried to do it via adb sideload, same error "Installation failed" on the phone and cmd said
Code:
error: protocol fault (no status)
.
After that I copied the .zip to my phone, flashed TWRP again made a nandroid backup, wiped dalvik, chache & CO (no factory reset) and installed the zip. Again: Error. I don't remember the exact code, but it was smth. with "error reading zip" or so, but the file isn't damaged.
So I have the question: What am I doing wrong? Do I have to lock OEM again?
I am looking forward to your answers.
Sincerely, Firnien
PS: I updated adb to the latest version as well and tried, still not working
You should try this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/fix-device-mapper-verity-simple-trick-t3530685
Start with flashin twrp -28 then follow step by step.

Install from Sideload error

Hi,
I tried to unroot my oneplus 3 with
the guide-how-to-unroot-your-oneplus-3-and-go-back-completely-to-stock method from the oneplus forum
Everything works fine till the install from the sideload mode.
I get the error cannot read ota.zip (downloaded the newest oxigenos 4.0.2 file from the official Oneplus Site
I thought maybe the zip is corrupt, but i tried 3 other OTA from Oneplus with the same result.
im' currious in the zip the file system.patch.dat is size 0 and crc32 is also 00000000. Is this normal or should this be different?
I just checked whats happens when i unpack everything from the zip to my computer and then zip it again (i know this will not work but at least something happened), i got following message:
loading: ota.zip * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037*
*daemen startet successfully *
Total xfer:0.00x
Any suggestions what may the problem could be?

I couldn't get nougat to sideload. I pushed it to internal storage, then used 'upgrade from internal'.
You need to wipe and reset system settings in stock recovery. Then all should work fine.
This is the problem with the adb drivers installed on the PC or MAC OS. I had the exact same problem. tried every adb software available on the net , but nothing worked. So I factory reseted Windows OS and installed adb drivers. Voila sideload started working as expected. The every same file which was giving error.
Please do not reset Windows. The issue is not with Windows, but your device. You need to have stock recovery installed. Reboot to recovery. Select English. Select Wipe Data and Cache, then choose Reset System Settings. Reboot to recovery again and side load. This has always worked for me. There is no need to reset Windows, just simply reset your internal storage/partitions to factory specs.
